Pasadena City Council meeting preview
The biggest item at today's meeting appears to be the approval of a new urgent care clinic- I wrote about it in a blog post Friday- basically, after delaying action in September because of community concerns, the Council is now being asked by staff once again to consider the same site at 3160 E. Del Mar Blvd. Since the city owns that property, it will be much cheaper to put the clinic there. We'll see if those $ arguments will be enough for the city to overrule the neighborhood opposition to the project.
The city is also looking at speed limit change on West Drive, between Washington Blvd. and Seco Street, dropping it from 40 mph to 35. Four other streets are listed on the staff report, but staff appears to be recommending the same speed limit that is already posted there. The city was required to establish clear speed limits on the five segments to legally keep a city enforcement program in place, according to the staff report.
Two condo projects also appear on the agenda- one at 445 N. Los Robles Blvd. and one at 88 N. Roosevelt Avenue. Sometimes these end up being a big deal, sometimes not so much.
The city will also look at several potential historical landmarks, as usual, and will likely approve a $90,000 contract for a new bike plan, which is necessary if the city wants to continue to receive county and state grants.
The city is also looking at applying for a $350,000 state grant for more native tree restoration along the Arroyo Seco.
Lastly, the Council will consider a project that is dear to my heart: putting candidate campaign contributions online for the city and school district. I love it when government is actually open.
