HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN
At the beginning of each month, I'll post a new High School Heisman blog, so you can discuss, argue and share your opinions on who should win our annual Star-News football player of the year award in December...To keep it fair, I won't mention any candidates, I'll let you do that......So, let the debates begin, and keep posting all month....Click, for more on Saturday's blog
FINALLY, the games begin tonight!!! Don't forget, you can visit this website for halftime updates of all tonight's local games, as well as final scores soon after, and stories on games posted soon after midnight (At least we'll try). Also, on Saturday morning, I'll post a weekly blog called "SATURDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK", where you can discuss Friday's night's events, second-guess coaches, and smack-talk till your hearts desire....

I saw him kick yesterday and he booted almost every ball in the end zone on KOs.
While I have not seen the kicker from Monrovia personally, he sounds legit. However, there's a kicker named Kyle Delahooke, from Maranatha High School in Pasadena, that I believe to be the best in the valley--hands down. As a JR. he kicked multiple FG's over 40 yards including a 51 and a 53. In Maranatha's opening game this weekend, Kyle went 7 for 7 in PAT's and put 6 out of 7 in the endzone on kickoffs (3 of which went out of the endzone). I'd put Delahooke's leg against anyone, anytime.
I'd probably go with Kris Robison at Arcadia. I know he isn't getting the "hype" others in the sgv or even at arcadia for that matter, however, i predict he will let his play do the talking.
Robison is the prototypical Reggie Bush type player. Slot receiver, punt/kickoff return guy and runs out of the backfield. It will be interesting how Arcadia will use all of its weapons. TE- Kevin Hess, WR- K. Robison, WR- Kevin Walker, the RB position being run by committee as well as Robison in the backfield.
Just Me...
You are right about an unsung hero in M-Town. But it isn't Boggs. Granted... Boggs is a stud. But leadership starts with the Seniors.
And the Senior leader this year is AJ Taylor. The linebacker/fullback is the quiet, team leader and the steady, weightroom tough guy the 'Cats have been missing since the likes of Ron Givan, Jamal Bourne and Nathan Dean.
He won't have the stats for a Heisman run... but no one will mean more to the 'Cats and their championship season than AJ.
I really think that there is an Unsung hero at Monrovia and he is just a sophmore. His name is Kendall Boggs. He is the prototype of a Reggie Bush. I think that he will awaken a lot of teams this year with his game style. While everyone is so focused on the other Backs he will be playing wide reciever this year. Keep your eyes open for him...Very very dangerous.
