Yale is old logo flat out sucked. My cat could have executed that.

I just realized that Blimpie was noton the worst l ist. It really could be the absolute worst of 2009. Such a m issed option. And quite often non-designers say they could do what we do - in th is case, having said that, they'd be right.

As well as the entire Tropicana debacle was left off why? Talking of Tropicana, does the new Aol logo remind any one of your rejected Troipcana logo? Personally, I am not a fan on the Aol rebrand. Although the execution and implementation are excellent, the precise wordmark is dull, uninspired, and just kind of blah. That currently being explained, I agree with a lot of the other rankings. I'm still in really like with all the city of Melbourne is new identification.

That's your mistake, thinking coaching is only about the x's and o's and winning and losing. He's been a wonderful coach and MENTOR to those kids at Alhambra.
You should be more respectful of people who log tireless hours for the benefit of kids.

robledo u make it seem as if ruedaflores is the greatest hs football coach, ru two related? rudaflores(aka d godfather) has been a 500 at d most. u think he would have better season , being that he gets the #s , he gets the better athletes than keppel or sg , and he always gets these magical tranfers. he cannot beat the montebello schools ,and to add insult he has his son running the offense!he won a league title , which was a three way tie . personally think he should retire and take his whole staff with him !get new blood into a stale program

Fred...

Your rip on CalPreps is a bit unfounded... their predictions you posted went 12-4 this week... and two of their wrong calls, Pasadena and Cantwell, were called incorrectly by you as well.

bleh said:

u must remember broadnax has a bad ankle. the tigers' defense are a hard-hitting team sidlining many players already and once he gets hit several times, his ankle will be tender and he might reinjure it, plus he hasn't practiced for two weeks.

the tigers rush defense might not be the best in the league but they can still catch up with their balanced offense against an average TC defense.

Philly B. said:

well i dont think that color day can stop T.C.'s running game. it is an unstoppable force. they have some big lineman and if broadnax plays then it will be A LONG night for south pas

NCAA Div 1 colleges and universities can sign their fall sports athletes (including FB players) in Feb of their Senior year... any "commitment" made before then is oral, and therefore not binding.

Potts and Davis have both achieved NCAA Clearinghouse qualifications... and, coupled with their football abilities and potential, are sure to sign with D1 programs in Feb. I am unclear of the academic status of Sparks, Brooks and Thompson... but they definitely have the talent to make the jump to Saturdays.

the AMAT vs. St. Francis game is gonna be a dirty, dirty fight. both teams have somthing to prove. St. Francis is trying to prove they are #1 in the SGV [are they really SGV or are the SFV "San Fernando Valley"?]. AMAT is trying to show that they do not lose to SGV teams. the last time they lost to a SGV team was a loss to Damien in the 2003 season. this is gonna be a great game, but when it comes down to it, speed beats size.

AMAT 28
St. Francis 24

watch out cantwell... la salle just came off a big win and they've got nothing to lose... defense wins La Salle the Game 21-7

Hey if Monrovia has these 3 or 4 D1 athletes then howcome they have not committed yet? Almost every other player has committed but not them. If they have could you tell me because I would sure like to know sometime instead of hearing that they are, show me that they are.

MonroviaFan said:

Monrovia Will SMASH LaCanada tomorow,no dout about it.Monrovia is the best this year, yet the heart and soul of the team dispite all the talk of the skill players is the Linemen.

philly,

TC is not the unstoppable force you think they are.

South Pasadena has color day, the crowd on their side, and the some of the best team chemistry around.

Im excited to see a good game, but dont be so confident with or without broadnax I still pick SP in a close one.

Philly B. said:

basically if broadnax palys on friday night. the boogie can be on south pas's sideline T.C. will prevail. and dont sleep on blair, yeah they beat up on some sity section teams but this is a team with something to prove this year and it starts with the first league game. im not saying blair will definitely win but. San marino will not put up a blow out. it will be close no matter who wins, but im rooting for blair on this one just because i like where the coach is trying to turn the team around that has been in the wrong direction for years.

i cant say anything bout the monrovia game. just because i dont wanna jinx it. and plus i've seen la canada get monrovia at home so hopefully the house of the cats will be packed for support. im lookin forward to seeing davis and sparks in person. plus it's gonna be good to have the transfer from damien back from injury. because from wat i hear will really need him for san marino. it will be a heck of a race for league this year. it wont be predictable like the pacific league lol

predictions:

south pas over tc (sp have this thing called color day which bascially is an orange and black halloween and many show up to the game in their costumes, the crowd will play a factor in the game)

monrovia over lc (monrovia is the best team in RHL and after this game, there will be no doubt)

san marino over blair (san marino is my team and im really excited about the 4-1 record. Bye bye blair cause the titans are real)

SB and Knightmare, I agree with both of you. I will ask our editors to consider allowing Arroyo to be a crossover school. You're right, if we cover RHPrep and even Bosco Tech, no reason why we shouldn't have Arroyo.

SB said:

Fred, Arroyo is one of those schools that has a number of residents in the Star News circulation area. Many of the part of Temple City that attends El Monte schools such as Clemison, Gidley, and Rio Hondo Elementary are students that attend Arroyo yet receive the Star News as their local paper.

I think the SGV News people ought to reconsider their stance on Arroyo, and especially when you consider that Rio Hondo Prep is literally 300 yards from Arroyo High School (across the river)and considered a Star News school.

I am sure that Arroyo is slighted by our eastern friends from the Trib, and wishes some love from this area in which it really belongs.

GloucesterCoach said:

South Pas over TC
Blair over San Marino
Monrovia over La Canada

Fred, what's up with La Canada's helmet on the website? Did they change there uniforms to look like Hoovers?

Duane Norris said:

My supposition it based on the relative schedules to this point of the teams that are in contention for the title. In short the RHL teams have had a tailor made schedule that will not serve them well in terms of preparation for the playoffs. I think Monrovia is strong because they have several scoring threats and an adequate defense. The rest of RHL is rather one dimensional offensively. In short the preseason records are being made with 'smoke and mirrors'. But as they say 'we shall see'.

FredJ said:

I hear you Knightmare, Tribune has nearly twice as many football schools as the Star-News. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just follow them. But for this blog, we can include Arroyo. And I'm telling you, the Knights are going to struggle to make the playoffs

tech boi said:

La Salle 31 Cantwell 13, maybe even a greater score, la salle will crush cantwell because cantwell's toughest opponent so far was Kern Valley....whos record is 1-4.

ur worst knightmare said:

Wrong Agian Robledo, Arroyo is not just a Tribune school. If Nose-bleed aka rosemead is covered by both, then Arroyo, which has a larger student pop. and fan base, should be covered by both. Besides, Aram has enough teams to cover.. Let ARROYO in to the Star-News crowd!!!

FredJ said:

But I'll tell you what Knightmare, Arroyo isn't winning league this year. Rosemead's going to take it.

FredJ said:

Sorry nightmare, Arroyo is considered a Tribune area school. We only cover them in crossover games when they play Star-News area teams. That's why you won't find Arroyo in Star-News rankings.
Go to the Tribune blog and yell at Aram.

ur worst knightmare said:

OMG I cant believe you cover the two other MVL games and not MV @ ARROYO! C'mon Robledo Arroyo has won this league 16 of the last 22 years, get with the coverage already.

Anonymous said:

Even with the rankings, the respect we thought we had boys is not here.

We have successfully converted Fred, and hopefully you all will believe after we beat TC on Friday.

But personally, Im not holding my breathe, and im kind of liking being the underdog every week.

temple city 20 - south pas 17 (TC, almost stunned again)
monrovia 30 - la canada 21
(LC goes down fighting...
Peterson will get 150 yards)
blair 22 - san marino 21
burbank 24 - pasadena 14
(B-bank not that good but just against Arcadia)
muir 50 - glendale 0
(Glendale will fight to get one first down)
Arcadia is without Kris Robison (ankle) and Picard (two way starter (FB/LB) because his appendix burst during the b-bank game (out for the season). Two huge players.

As every knows, Eric Brooks is out for the season. It's too bad that he couldn't make it back for the playoffs.

Tennessee Tiger said:

Keppel at Schurr: This could be ugly, but Schurr sends it's JV team to get the varsity guys a night off....still wins 45 - 7
Montebello vs. Alhambra: Gil will get his 100th - 28 - 20 AHS
Temple City at South Pasadena: Broadnax has a great first quarter, then reinjures the ankle. SPHS's O-Line and D-line step up with the emotional color day crowd. Coach Hertel's gameplan works to perfection, 27 - 21 in a second half comeback.
La Canada at Monrovia: MHS proves it's #1 in the RHL 35 - 21 (even though Peterson rushes for 3 scores and 200 yards)
St. Francis at Bishop Amat: too much momentum in LaCanada right now, 28 - 17 St. Francis
Blair at San Marino: Blair is improved, but SM keeps it going 20 - 10.
Burbank vs. Pasadena: The fun is over Bulldogs, 35 - 13 Burbank
Hoover at Arcadia: Hoover brings along 2 ambulances from the Glendale fire dept. just in case 52 - 0 Arcadia
Muir at Glendale: The ambulances couldn't make it to this one as they were tied up in Arcadia, GHS players ask for mercy in the third quarter and the ref's call the game so more don't get hurt 63 - 0 Muir
La Salle at Cantwell-Sacred Heart: LaSalle keeps it going 21 - 17
Bell Gardens at San Gabriel: SG, I have faith in you...please win! 31 - 24 SGHS
Bosco Tech at Bishop Montgomery: Bishop Montgomery 24 - 14
Viewpoint at Rio Hondo Prep: RHP recovers 21 - 10
El Monte at Rosemead: ElMonte is too tough 35-17
Gabrielino at South El Monte: South El Monte too big, too strong, and it's still not Gabrielino's year, 28 - 7

Marshall at Maranatha: Maranatha cruises 45 - 10
Chadwick at Pasadena Poly: fans argue over who tees off first at Brookside Saturday morning and whether tech stocks are a legitimate investment again, meanwhile Poly wins 28 - 17
Flintridge Prep at Webb: Flintridge Prep pulls out a close one 17 - 14
