Before meeting La Salle, the Mary Star Stars will have to meet Verbum Dei this Saturday. This match up will be tough, since MS will be playing in Verb's house and after the loss this week, Curtis Wilson and Company will be looking for a win and making a statement in front of their fans. The Verb team is another team that should be ranked in this division. They can give ANY team in the RHL a run for their money. Their speed matches up against Monrovia and Wilson is a better QB than Potts in my humble opinion. They have a sizable line with some gritty players. However, when you only have 25 guys in your squad and every one has to work every day, it is hard to maintain a highly disciplined process. That's right every student at Verb must participate on a work program in order to supplement their tuition. what is amazing about Verb it's that this team has 3 legitimate D1 prosprects.

Actually, Mary Star defeated Cantwell.

The score of the L S - Verb game is incorrect in the Scoreboard. The score was L S 37 - Verb 36.

A good solid win for L S. Should put them on track to win the Camino Real as Mary Star lost to Cantwell and St. Monica would have to upset L S.

It appears as though Valley Christian is improving and you can never discount them in the Mid-Valley Division given there excellent coaching and tradition. Things are definitely heating up in the Division.

And as the experts say it's sometimes the hottest team entering the playoffs that has the most success.

RH Prep fan,

Don't let Tennesse Tiger get your tail. He (is there even one "she" blogging?) is simply showing a sense of humor. I think it's sad when a team gets a name like the the Guals, Gauls, whatever. It doesn't exactly strike fear into an opponent, but neither does Kares. Fortunately RHP has the fear thing going based upon their play so opponents know that a Kare is someone they would rather not line up against.

Too bad for Webb--a tough season (most are for them in football) and they have to run up against RHP at RHP on their Homecoming night. 75-0 and even Calpreps 60-0 predictions are a bit much. Coach Drain will demonstrate good coaching protocol and play the second team after halftime. Score 48-0 RHP.

I would not be surprised if Muir blows out Burroughs. On the other hand, I could see Burroughs play a physical game and control the clock to win, but I think Muir will keep their Pacific League Title here in the West SGV.

Rhprep fan said:

Hey "Tennessee Tiger" you must be crazy or some thing if you think that the 0-6 Webb Guals are gonna beat the Kares Friday night. The kares are just to good and to close of a team to let a disaster like that happen. The will not lose a game this year unless everybody on their team dies or something. You think that Webb will win 24-21, i'll go as far as saying that the kares will continue their amazing streak of not letting anybody get more than a touchdown in the last nine games. Kares will win 75-0.

FredJ said:

Stang Fan, yeah, if Muir wins and St. Francis falls, that would be enough to lift Muir to the top spot. St. Francis barely defeated Burroughs 24-21, so if the Mustangs did something similar, you'd have to move them to the top considering they would be 6-1 and St. Francis would be 5-2.

Burroughs at Muir: Muir 24-20
San Marino at Temple City: Temple City 17 - 7 (too much broadnax and too little clock time for SM
South Pasadena at La Canada: SoPas contains peterson and DOESN'T fumble...23 - 10
Blair vs. Monrovia: MOnrovia 24 - 20 (Blair hangs with them, but c'mon...Monrovia is gonna win CIF)
San Gabriel vs. Alhambra: Ole! Spain would be proud...Moors have found themselves again (or maybe they just played a really crappy team last week) AHS 35 - 24
Glendale at Arcadia: If the Nitros weren't blown up enough last week, make it round two
Hoover vs. Pasadena: what is it with Glendale schools and bad football? Hoover is more like a soft breeze than a tornado...Bulldogs roll 42 - 7
Bell Gardens at Keppel: wow, three blowouts in a row BG 35 - 0
Maranatha at Campbell Hall: Maranatha 35 - 21
Marshall at Brentwood: OJ makes an appearance and suits up for Brentwood, Marshall is too afraid to tackle him for fear of repurcussions. He drives home after 250 yds rushing to prove "he's still got it" going 25 in a white Bronco.
Bosco Tech at Serra: Bosco 35 - 17
Webb at Rio Hondo Prep: Webb 24-21
Saturday's games
Crespi at St. Francis: SF 28-21
Verbum Dei at La Salle: LaSalle, I'm feelin' ya - 35 - 10
Flintridge Prep vs. Chadwick at Maranatha: C'mon, the name of the school is Chadwick...Flintridge Prep 24 - 20
Viewpoint at Pasadena Poly: Poly 28 - 17

Fred,
If Muir beats Burroughs this week (no jinx here) and SF loses to Crespi, do you think the 'Stangs deserve a top ranking?

THere doesn't appear to be a game of the week at all next week, but if I had to choose I'd go with SF and Alemany, because of the small drama involving ALemany's freshman tailback who was at SF this summer before enrolling at Alemany.

loyal tiger said:

Fred, ok, i can deal with that.

I just think LC is too one dimensional to beat any one other than blair, and maybe san marino.

To the guy's from South Pasadena, When you play LaCanada you will be facing a Lion in a cage. IF for some reason he gets out, YOUR"E IN TROUBLE. LaVaelle Peterson is one of those backs that can make it very difficult for a defense to get the rest they need to play a good second half. Yes Monrovia Beat them pretty soundly, but thats because they had Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh MY!..just kidding but you get the drift. I haven't yet seen South Pasadena play, but I can assure you that You will spend a lot of time on the defensive end tommorow tonight. If you have a balanced offense you could give LaCanada trouble. I think that some of their interior lineman were limping out of the game last friday. But good luck anyway. If you play LaCanada well it could be a good warm up to your Monrovia Game. Just make sure all of your players are healthy for that one. I think that La Canada will beat Temple City next Week, this is no Omen for you guys just my preditions....Lavelle Peterson is Much Better than Broadnax. And they both mean everything to their teams. Fred take note to these comments.

Big M, I feel good about the St. Francis game, and not so sure about Flint Prep.

Hey everyone, appreciate all the hits on the Friday night scoreboard -- which has become one of our websites biggest features. I'm told we had over 60,000 hits one weekend. That's amazing. Remember, we have staffers and correspondents calling in scores every quarter.

Hey Fred...

Burroughs at Muir is a Pick 'em game... but you're reaching with St. Francis and Flintridge Prep. Good luck... I'm thinkin' The Derby.

As far as next week's GOW, I like Arc/Burr or LC/TC... depending on their play this week.

Hey Anonymous... LC & TC play next week...

Without a doubt the best game of the week, perhaps the year, is at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium when Rosemead travels to ARROYO. This rivalry is huge to both schools and Rosemead has not won at Arroyo for decades. GO KNIGHTS GO!

Loyal Tiger, this is no disrespect to South Pas. I still think when all is said and done, the Rio Hondo League will look like this.
1. Monrovia
2. Temple City
3. La Canada
4. South Pasadena
5. San Marino
6. Blair
South Pas did a good job containing Broadnax, but now they face a real game-breaker in Peterson. Not sure if they can handle it.
But like Chris Berman says, "That's why they play game game."
Good luck.

Fred,

I dont understand how after one game where the o-line doesnt show up you choose LC over SP, an SP D that didnt allow a touchdown to broadnax or any other TC player for over 3 1/2 quarters. And you saw what the D-line and linebackers did to broadnax, sure he got 170 yards, but in 40 carries. La Canada is a one man team, i just dont get it fred...
