hey rosemeadbasketball0607, you might be good in badminton, you might be good in track, but when it comes to football you might as well stand back. Here's to looking forward to beating you again this year in both boys and girls basketball...the MVL girls basketball trophy will stay where it belongs... with Gorball at ARROYO..GO KNIGHTS GO!

New York, you are right on about Graham's career. I had friends who played against him in Little Leauge and he was throwing in the 90s as a 13 year old. A shame he ended up where he did.

Observantcat said:

Monrovia is know to get a bit comfortable around this time of the year at least for one game. The Cats have always pulled through when it counts. You Guys seem to measure this as a Wildcat defeat rather than a Strong Titan stand. San Marino just made a statement thats all, (We Can play with the best of them.) If you saw the game Monrovia played down a bit but they still won and I think thats all that counts in the bigger scheme of things. Remember the USC Vs. Arizona Game last year?....

Big M, right on. It is a much improved RHL with a good amount of talent spread out through out the teams. The race to the finals will be fun to watch as well the Division play offs. We will also see two good teams out of the Camino Real: La Salle and Verbum Dei, that will make it even more interesting in the division. Now that the specter of Oaks Christian has been removed, we will see more open play and a wide open shot with some interesting match ups in the future. The game tomorrow in South Central, between Mary Star and Verb will set the stage for La Salle's showdown next week in Pedro. All in all it is a great finish to the league finals with TC and M looming in the background as well as LC and the Lavelle Peterson show tonight in RamVille.

Fan...

You're not very observant if your surprised by the fight in the Titans... SM has always played us well.

And, before League play, the whole Valley was talking about the improvements in the Rio Hondo.

BTW - They did lose... by 2 TDs.

------------------------------

crazy...

Predicting TC over the Cats is not necessarily "going out on a limb". Mooney always puts together a good plan (He and Garrison have the best staffs in the league). The Cats will win... too much speed... too many weapons... too strong on D.

crazyqube said:

By the way TC over LC tonight to all you nay sayers.

crazyqube said:

Dear Observancat, you must have chewed off most your claws last night! The Titans put your Cats in a bit of a scare. Your prediction was way off as well as the running game 141 yards combined! It just shows that your Cats are absolutely and definetely beatable and any comparisons to Oaks Christian must now offically stop. I hope TC does not ruin your Homecoming. You will have your hands full and although I am not one to go about predicting an outcome of something as uncertain as boys high scholl football game (albiet though a lot of fun) I will go out on a limb predicting the Rams over your Cats. Good luck containing Broadnax and handling the TC O line, they will run rough shod over the Cats.

hsfbfan said:

NotsoObservantcat, I can't believe SM gave the Cats a good run. Monrovia is starting to play down to the RHL level which will hurt them in the playoffs.

Observantcat said:

Monrovia will stop the Run against TC and the rest is pretty much history. If La Canada can stop the run tonight you will get a simmiliar taste of what is to come. Let's see what the Great Apache's do...Maybe they should play San Marino. SM-17 Arcadia 7 off the record prediction.

BigMLover said:

Fan... You've been wrong all summer.

I'm glad the Cats can start the TC talk now... Big Game week begins tomorrow.

hsfbfan said:

Good job on your predication NotsoObservantCat. The final score was 21-7, not 57-7. That means, in terms of number crunching, TC will beat monrovia.

Flintridge Prep Fans--where are you? Poly fans--where are you? How come it seems as though the only people on this blog are fans of winning teams? Come on people, lets not be sun shiney fans. Support your team regardless of record. How in the world do you expect the community to give them love if their own fans don't own up to them?

thank you observantcat. I'm so sick and tired of the arcadia fans and their excuses of that rivalry game. if we were to play arcadia today. we would smash them up but of course. they would say we didnt have kris robison or someone else. i guess they dont know the sayin "One monkey don't no show." But yeah if arcadia wants to prove their the real deal than they gotta take out burroughs for one. and did arcadia play muir yet because im sure if they did or not. but if they didnt they need to shut them down too. if they want to be taken seriously

Monrovia is a much different team than Arcadia. Monrovia usually plays up to their compettion whea's Arcadia has been full of excuses. I think that Burroughs will stop the running game cold and Arcadia cant stop Burroughs running game at all. Mind you your players are hurt. I hope that Arcadia proves me wrong and then you may try and compare Monrovia with Burroughs. IF Monrovia were to play Arcadia today there would definetly be a different point output by the CATs...I would predict the score to be somewhere around the Burroughs prediction. The Rivalry nerves have long been vanished

hsfbfan said:

Observant, if you predict that arcadia will lose by that much, then Monrovia would have no chance aganist Burroughs.

Speaking of Monrovia. How about moving Monrovia to the Pacific League and sending Glendale and Hoover to the RHL?

I think Mooney had to worry about Adam Gabriel a couple years ago as well.

New York said:

I think as a junior, Graham took Charter Oak to the D-6 semis and lost to Damien. I think he ran for about 2,600 yards that season. His transfer to Muir for his senior year was a bad choice. Muir had a lot of turmoil that year, some of it involving Graham. The coach resigned during the season (what a shock at Muir) and EJ and Crutch tookover as Co-Head coaches. I don't even think Graham finished the season.

I think Graham played for Edison, Mater Dei, Charter Oak, and Muir. First time I saw him was a little league baseball game. He was playing for West Altadena. As a pitcher, he threw big league heat, but he had no control. It was either an unhittable fastball down the middle or up into the backstop or into some poor kids legs. Anyway, he crushed a line drive into the houses across the street from Eisenhower Park. Amazing. Anyway, I was just wondering how Peterson compared to Graham in stature and raw ability. I figured some people in the Northwest or even La Canada area may know.

Mikey Graham went to 5 different high schools, but I remember seeing him play for Mater Dei against St. Francis in 1994 and he ran for over 150 yards, just playing the 2nd half b/c he was benched. He went to Muir his senior year and during his senior he went on a drive by shooting. I think he is still in prison.

The last great back that Mooney had to worry about was probably Auddarius Bailey and before that probably Akil Harris.

Lancer Double8s said:

Wow, NY-I haven't heard that name in awhile...

New York said:

How does he compare to Mikey Graham?

FredJ said:

I talked to Mooney and asked who he compared Peterson too. Two names, Ricky Irvins and Maurice Drew. Pretty impressive comparison.

BigMLover said:

I missed your TC/LC pick... we differ there as well. As I explained in detail on an earlier thread, I see this as superior coaching and a balanced attack vs. The Peterson Show.

I'll always take the team concept: Temple City by 3...

GloucesterCoach said:

TC over LC, it's tempting to pick La Canada but since it's at TC gotta stick with the Rams.
Monrovia over San Marino: I'd like to see how much of a fight San Marino puts up so we can judge how the South Pas game will look.

South Pas over Blair...hopefully. My confidence it running pretty thin with my Tigers right now. Gotta bounce back though

Observantcat said:

La Canada by 14 over TC..This will determine 2nd place in the RHL, could be the most important game of either's season.

Anonymous said:

I'll take Temple City by 3 as well.

Fred...

You and I differ on one pick... I like the Lions by 7 (funny, so does CalPreps). Never bet against the house.

Jim Mulligan said:

LC 35 Temple City 14
Monrovia 42 San Marino 7

Big M, I want your picks this week. Lay em out, lets see how you do?
