Congrats to the Moose: Natha Bury on winning the Athlete of the Week! Props for mentioning his O Line.
Gee Fred. I thought that was just the burrito you had for dinner that made you dance like that.. :-)
Hey Finchamp, I'd make a pretty good kicker
Concerned View/Fred
I saw that dance of Fred's. Fred you've actually got some moves...but can you take a hit? Good choice in picking futbol (soccer) over football (FOOTBALL).
I'd have to agree with Steve and second that nomination for Darryl Carter of St.Francis. The kid is a great player that steps up to the plate every time. He is also a "Golden Knight". That should tell you about the leadership that he has for that team. Linemen never get enough recoginition. go to Maxpreps and check out his stats. Nothing else said.
Get a look at the Pasadena Star news Preps Editor Fred "Webster" Robledo.
I think Nathan Burry of La Salle high school should win this award. This week he scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one recieving in the first half! he has led this Lancer team down the stretch and will bring them a ring.
I think David Burry of La Salle high school should win this award. This week he scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one recieving in the first half! he has led this Lancer team down the stretch and will bring them a ring.
If not Peterson - than I agree - Poly's defense - they were awesome against Rio - Great Pasadena Star News coverage of that game. Stopping an 18 game win streak on rio's home turf and a shut out no less! I think only allowing 2 first downs. This Poly team is very exciting and should go far in the playoffs.
Peterson - anyone else scores 5 TDs and 278 yards and he is the athlete of the week - why shouldn't it be him - just because he does something remarkable every week with class and keeps his mouth shut doesn't mean he shouldn't get the award.
As an aside the Pasadena Volleyball coach made me ill with his performance after the LC game. It is too back because he has such a tremendous group of young ladies - I hope his behavior and style doesn't rub off on them. He is an example of how not to behave as a grown up.
The coach could learn alot from his young team and Peterson (16 YO) - who said wisdom comes with age - not for some.
He didnt have a standout game this week but you have to love the season that QB David Potts had! i think he has grown alot from his sophmore and jr. season. He reminds me alot about vince young because he can make plays with his strong right arm and he can get outside tha pocket and create plays with his legs
This may be getting a little repetitive, but the AOTW has to go to the one constant in football this year and that's Lavelle Peterson. His 29 carries and 278 yards rushing along with his 5 touchdowns for the biggest night of the Spartans year kind of seals this weeks winner.
AOTW, and then crown him MVP of the Area because he is with out a doubt the Man around this area.
Thank you Fred for all you do for us here in the valley. I don't even read the LA Times anymore.
Campa-
Elsinore beat Burroughs 3-0. Elsinore is a very, very good team that is also pretty young. They've got a 6'3" hitter that's a junior who's all cif caliber.
If the Pasadena coach thinks that he is the reason for their success, he's an idiot. He's just there to fill out the line-up card and turn it in without screwing it up.
Next year they'll be at the bottom of the Pacific in volleyball.
I think we should give it to the girls varsity volleyball coach from Pasadena High School. His team just beats La Canada High School in CIF playoff and he turns to the students behind the bench and starts taunting them and yelling "choke, choke you choked" while placing both hands around his neck acting out a choke type of position.
This guy is what is wrong with High School Sports. A varsity coach who just won the match taunting the kids in the stands who cheered for their team. This guy turned an awesome match into a classless event by showing his true colors and trying to pick on kids in high school. Wow, a true tough guy here.
Truly a class act. Congratulations coach I hope you're back next year to teach the kids right from wrong. You're a role modle for sure.
I would nominate the Burbank defense? for helping Wiggan carry the ball 48 times and break the records.
Since Burbank is out of the coverage area-The PHS Volleyball Team should win the award.
I nominate Joe Wiggan from burroughs as he did break 2 school records thurs night
Undoubtedly the 'player' of the week should the entire Poly defense!
Great audio/flash/print coverage of the game on the web.
I know that lineman usually do not receive enough recognition because of that I nominate Alex Jimenez for La Salle HS. He had 3 sacks aginst St. Monica last night, holding the Mariners scoreless for one half. He is the present sack leader in the CR league, numerous tackles. He is outstanding on the Offensive line, the work horse. La Salle has inceased its run output to 200 yds from 145 yds per game since his move to from tight end to offensice tackle. Has played big against the best of the RHL teams. A dominating force on both sides of the line.
I nominate Daryl Carter from St. FRancis. Daryl is an oustanding football player. He had an excellent season, and by far the best D-lineman in the Mission League and the whole Western Division
Maybe not the top dog for the week, but for a good solid season....
TC QB Riley Saxon
and/or
TC DB/FB Kyle O'Malley
The certainly paid their dues to earn the accolade.
