BIGGEST GAME IN LA SALLE HISTORY?
MID-VALLEY DIVISION QUARTERFINALS
La Salle (6-5) at Monrovia (9-2), Friday at 7 p.m.

To get to the Final Four, here are the top four reasons why this is the biggest game in La Salle History
1. HISTORY: Since the football program started in 1992, they have never advanced to the CIF-SS Divisional semifinals.
2. RECOGNITION: The Lancers compete in the Camino Real League, facing teams like Verbum Dei, Mary Star, and others well outside the area. They also play too many Saturday afternoon games, and prior to this year, played in CIF-SS playoff games against teams that nobody outside La Salle was interested in.
3. OPPORTUNITY: The Lancers are in the Mid-Valley Division where local teams from the Rio Hondo and Montview teams compete in. If the Lancers can defeat the Wildcats, an area power on a prime-time Friday night game of the week, they not only will be in the semifinals, but think of what this could do for future recruiting. La Salle is an affordable private school in a beautiful area of Pasadena. A win over Monrovia could turn them into a Mid-Valley power for years to come. Heck, they might already be on their way
4. FUTURE - A couple years ago La Salle installed a state of the art artificial surface, and last week, played under Friday night lights for the first time in the history of the school. All that is left is a signature victory, and think of what it would mean to beat Temple City and Monrovia in the same year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Verbum Dei defensive end Akeem Ayers is being heavilly recruited by UCLA, and is looking to upset No. 1 Temple City on Friday

This is scary, Verbum Dei's last three scores
Verbum Dei 48, St. Monica 0
Verbum Dei 56, Cantwell Sacred Heart 0
Verbum dei 53, L.A. Bapitist 0
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In what could be his final year, Alhambra coach Gil Ruedaflores is hoping to advance to the semifinals for the first time in his 19-years at the school.
Alhambra is at Santa Fe on Friday in a Southeast Divisional quarterfinal.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a bad start
In two years at Muir, coach Ken Howard is 18-5, owns a Pacific League championship, two quarterfinal appearances, and is trying to reach his first semifinal when the Mustangs (9-2) host Colony (9-2) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maranatha quarterback Alex Clash, who hopes to lead the Minutemen over Salesian.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wake up the echoes...no, no, no, it's just Riverside Notre Dame that Pasadena Poly has to deal with on Friday. I'm going with my man Stephen Sherman to get it done.

Anonimous, what divide and conquer, you silly kid, Trix are for Kids!
By the way, this is a shout out to all the Shirleytemplers that were embarrassed tonight by Verbum Dei. Our win over your team WAS NOT a fluke. The RHL went down tonight in a big heap, you made the biggest cloud dust!!
I think this years La Salle team is a joke there not playing ne special last years 06 team with bryant, colton, scott would of made the teams in the mid valley look dumb and would of won the championship no problem. This years class is just weaker!
Burbank by the way La Salle is getting ready to flatten the last tire in the Frontier Bandwagon. You better jump off before it's blown up. So much for your picks....
Don't pose as Justin...
He has better sense than to spend his time here instead of preparing his kids.
Go Cats!
MONROVIA is the best. Period! Best described as the most talented team in the rio hondo and the SGV! We play down to the level of our opponent at times (TC) so maybe WORTHY challengers have a shot, but not likely.
Might still happen burbank ;) Ask Fillmore to come pick up their banana peels off of our A-Frame and clean their urine off our eight man sled.
I agree with what you say about the demo's on those leagues. Eight years ago Buena would have beat any of the RHL teams, not so now. And what about St. Monica's who beat St. Bonnie's on the way to the '99 CIF title!
Double8's-
I'd have to agree about Duarte vs Santa Clara, but maybe a Thanksgiving Miracle can happen. Bishop Diego should have enough to survive another week.
I can't believe that the Frontier League was put into the Mid Valley, but they had to go somewhere. The demographics of Ventura County change so quickly that the CIF cannot keep up. I know they are looking at changing the Channel League again and they will probably have to change the Marmonte again. Round and round it goes.
Fillmore probably acted like idiots because they didn't know how to act. Not an excuse, but these Frontier teams have been killed by the Tri-Valley teams for years and they haven't seen any real success for years.
I was really hoping for a Bishop Diego vs La Salle game. Two classy schools would make for a great game.
P.P.S.- Can you believe that section of the lower bracket????? Mary Star, Bishop Diego, Paraclete, and Village Christian!!! The CIF must have a real you-know-what for the Camino Real League.
All joking aside burbank, I have to say you know your HS ball. I also have to say that Fillmore was disrespectul and whiny, which is why I criticized you picking them earlier in the week. Now you have to stick to your guns and that's commendable.
Santa Clara would probably lose nine out of ten to Duarte. They start about 5 or 6 underclassmen in the linebackers and secondary corps. Wood is a talent and their QB can make some plays. Fillmore defenitely just out-toughed them and out-hit them. They had no answer for Halcon due to their young linebackers and secondary unable to take away cutback angles. (Which is how La Salle shut them down in their game last week. Good pursuit and MOSTLY good tackling).
Well all you Falcon fans, that's the Santa Clara sneak peak I hope you can take care of business.
PS-Burbank-Between fans I don't think we'll be talking Frontier League football next week ;)
Well hopefully BD can win the game. SBCC, santa barbara city college? if so that is a real nice field, we went up their when PCC got their first win of the season surprisingly.
Philly-
Bishop Diego might be a little better on defense than VC, but I think the kids on both teams have more fun on offense.
I know the kids at VC are looking forward to playing at SBCC and making the road trip.
I want bishop to get past village cuz if they do they have to come down here regardless of who wins between monrovia/la salle. GO BISHOP DIEGO. 100pts???? Burbank..... really??? both teams have no defense
New York-
I'm glad that you "get it" with regard to those postings. As for my picks- you have to stir things up once in awhile.
I have to ride the Frontier League Bandwagon so I'll take Bishop Diego over Village Christian and Santa Clara over Duarte.
However, having seen all those teams except for Duarte it wouldn't surprise me if Duarte wins easily at home. Bishop Diego and Village Christian could easily combine for over 110 points and whoever has the ball last might win it.
I also think that the players on the teams that have been trounced by Oaks will in the future be proud to say they were on the L S team or Muir's team, etc. when Oaks whipped them. Especially if Clausen or others make it to Sunday games. It'll be the stuff of legends to recount at reunions and gathering for years to come. lol, lol
Lancer Faithful are you serious. Let's examine the facts. O C last lost a game in '03 and is currently 11-0 for '06 and on a 42 game win streak. O C has had 13 athletes that will sign for D - 1 schools post h.s., not to mention others that will migrate to D-2 or other institutions. They are arguably the best aggragation of talent on the West Coast. They shouldn't have been in D-11 football, but that's another story. Notwithstanding whether they recruit or not, they attract talent from all over there area, some even out of the area, Lancaster, etc. They are attracting so much talent that coaches in the area are calling for a parochial playoff division so they won't have to play them and St. Bonaventure. Now I said all that to say that the L S players came out fired up and when faced with guys that were definitely better athletes the result was predictable. With L S it's the athletes that show up, usually without benefit of playing Jr. All-American or Pop Warner ball. L S does well for the type of program it is. I think L S played a decent but not great game against a superior opponent. Every team that has played them in 3 plus years has experienced the same result. We should be thankful that L S was in the playoffs but unforunate enough to meet O C in the second round. I think that comment from Lancer Faithful was not representative of how the team played that year and in that game. L S represents the WSGV well and will continue to do so.
A Sad Excerpt from ESPN.com
He wasn't at all surprised about my tales of athletes' distrust of adults. "They see what's going on. How can they trust authority figures? What's interesting is in the past 10 years or so, the moral authority of coaches has eroded and parents are taking over, using the coaches as vehicles for their kids' advancement, threatening their jobs if they don't win. The parents are putting pressure on the coaches as well as the kids. No wonder there's steroids and abusive behavior."

Mooney is an an amazing coach - can you imagine what would have been accomplish over the last three years with him at him at the helm at LC. LC, with feeder Freshman teams that went 19-1, the MVP of the league in each of the last 3 years - the best player in the school's history and perhaps the second best player in the schools history on the same team - teams that had 16 - 17 starting players from a youth tackle program that went undefeated in its last three years leading up to HS, including mercing the mighty Pasadena Panthers the last 2 and that group can collectively only win one playoff game in the last 3 years - Very frustrating for true LC fans - not the inmature name calling fans on both sides of the issue.
YOu must give credit to the boys upfront against OC They did a great job that night them and the backs were the onlyones that were playing 100% is waht it looked liked to me from the stands
Burbank,
I actually enjoyed reading the various news clippings you've post about teams out of our area. It is like an abridged scouting report.
I'm not saying that I agree with all your picks, but I do like reading about any team in Monrovia's division.
LSHS
Go back and look at my picks last week-then pop off.
Easiest pick of the year-Monrovia this week.
In his sophomore year Cierre Wood...got whupped on by Duarte! If you don't want to eat crow Burbank then don't put it in the oven. I saw film on Santa Clara and Fillmore out-toughed them. On Friday they'll be outclassed athletically by Duarte.
Observant, I by no means think last year's OC game was La Salle's biggest ever. Most defenitely the game at hand is always the most important. I just wanted you to be aware that La Salle did not lie down for OC and was able to do some things.
Burbank can you please stop posting about these Frontier league teams. Just because every team you picked to win or lose last week did not happen you do not have to jump the bandwagon of the Frontier league. I told you earlier just move on the basketball season please.
From the Frontier League Bandwagon:
In his sophomore season at Santa Clara High, Cierre Wood has become a four-way threat:
- Wood averages 13.1 yards per carry as a running back and set a school single-game rushing record with 282 yards in Santa Clara's 28-21 win over Paraclete last Friday in the first round of the Mid-Valley Division playoffs.
- His 39.1 yards per catch — 14 catches for 547 yards — currently ranks as the second highest average in state history, according to CalHiSports.com. Tony Thomas of San Francisco O'Connell set the record of 42.1 (14-589) in 1973.
- On defense, Wood has 57 tackles and two interceptions.
- For Santa Clara's special teams, Wood averages 42.8 yards per punt, 33.1 yards per kickoff return and 11.8 per punt return.
"To have a guy like this is unbelievable," said Santa Clara coach Fran Fredette, whose Frontier League co-champion Saints face Duarte on the road in the quarterfinals on Friday.
I don't understand why kids come on to these blogs and post. It is enjoyable to read about whats going on but to post...I don't understand it.
Minutemen, sorry, we only have about eight minutes with two coaches interviews and two zones to talk about..
Not even a mention of Maranatha or Poly on the webcast - disappointing
see ya thier observantcat, i wouldnt miss this game for anything, its great for local football
see ya htier observantcat, i wouldnt miss this game for anything, its great for local football
see ya htier observantcat, i wouldnt miss this game for anything, its great for local football
Fred,
I agree that this is a huge game for La Salle. Monrovia is quite a hurdle if we want to play in the semifinals next week.
I'm thinking that this is the start of many of these matchups, due to the new Mid Valley division.
There is nothing better than local Friday night football.
Go Lancers!
I hope that none of you take any of these Blogs personal and Its good that you stand up for your respective teams. I myself like to fight fire with fire. It just seemed as though LSHS was not really giving this game much thought, by saying that Oaks Christian was they biggest game in your schools history. This Game will put you on the Map to respect in your own back yard. I myself was offered a chance to attend LaSalle back in the Day, But I chose to continue in public school. I like the fact that it's possible that Many of the small schools around the area could become powerhouses that other areas have. I will be seated on the Green and White side on Friday night. Peace.
Campa: It may not be a "huge upset" as you put it,if Maranatha wins, but it will be a sweet victory for a deserving bunch of kids and their great coach - Joel Murphy. Joel has won the respect of the players, parents, students, and fans and nobody deserves this more than he does - he shows his integrity and positive attitude and that reflects in how well the Minutemen are doing.
Finchamp - where are you? Just because RHP is done does not mean we don't want to hear from you - I for one enjoy your observations - weigh in already...
i agree with you blue lion. I respect mooney for the program that he has over there at TC but i bleed green and white so u know how it is, but all season i gave props to TC for their running game all before the la salle game of course
Thanks for the clarification, Ray.
Coach Mooney played at USC in 1980's. I know he is not intimated by any team, within reason, and teams typically take on the attitude of the coaches.
Heck, I'm a Monrovia guy but I respect Mooney for what he does.
Blue Lion & Ex-Falcon,
TC played Inglewood about 3 times. Two of them I remember, one was back in 2001 during the 2nd round playoffs, TC lost, and the final time in 2003 a scheduled game that was a 6-6 tie.
Observantcat,
Nathan Bury rushed for 111 yards against Oaks Christian
Campa: Thank you for your insight on the Maranatha v Salesian game. I’m sure the game will be close but I think Maranatha will come out the winner. Both teams look very similar but the Maranatha offense seems stronger and the way our defense has been playing the Minutemen will be a hard team to beat. Looking forward to Friday night.
Tom
Crazyqube
Smoke away, I might even join you hahaha. But yeah three more days and counting, cant wait. But wasnt there someone here talking about Nov 24th at some park playing football???? who was that nd where is the park again
Good luck to Monrovia and Temple City. Preparation meets expectations at these schools and their football programs.
Some schools have the will to win, but these Rio Hondo League teams have the will to "prepare" to win.
Good luck.
FRIDAY NIGHT SCORES!
Verbum Dei 33 TC 17
La Salle 27 Monrovia 21
Hey Tom S,
Sorry about that. I wasn't sure if we were going to do the Maranatha v. Salesian game in the two-minute drill, but here's my info on the game.
I think Salesian v. Maranatha is going to be interesting. They're very similiar teams. If you remember, Salesian started the season ranked in the Top 4 in the Northeast Division. They lost two consecutive games to quality schools (Compton Centennial and Huntington Park) after opening the season with a win and dropped off the mat. Since that time they've won six of seven, primarily against weak opponents in the Santa Fe League and are now 7-3.
They run a balanced attack with QB Ramon Flores (9 TD's, 62 percent completion rating, 110 y/g), and RB Joseph Salazar (112 yards a game). However, Flores like Alex Clash, has had some tough games. At times, the team relies too much on Salazar, as the Minutemen rely on Love too much.
I like the Salesian run-defense a little better as well. I'm picking Salesian 24-22 in a home win. However, it wouldn't be a huge upset if Maranatha won. Calpreps has them advancing. Good luck either way.
it does, im not trying to start troble, just wondering
Ex-Falcon,
TC has consistently demonstrated that they are not intimidated to play anybody. They have consistently scheduled a mix of teams. I think they have played Inglewood a few times over the years, if that appeases the direction you were headed with that question.
temple city is playing in compton this week? i wonder what there crowd trun out is going to be? and if that city intimadation will factor in the outcome? i hope not tho.
Temple City's game on Friday against Verbum Dei will be at Centennial High School
What a swing from one year to the next. Last year La Salle and Monrovia bowed out to Oaks Christian and Crespi, respectively.
NY, Philly B do not misunderstand me! The people that roll those cigars are old wrinkled, toothless men that would trade in their cigars for a juicy steak any day of the week! I just hope some of the communist infiltrators have not gotten to you two also, with all that sweet talk of young girls and thighs, sigh...I need to have drink of rum just thinking about it...humm. When I fire that bad boy up, I hope the Monrovia smoking police(aka. Gestapo, KGB, G2,AQMD etc..) do not swoop down on my defenseless self and request I extinguish such a smoking masterpiece, that's communism...
Just a note for the Observant Cat...LSHS didn't schedule the game against Oaks Christian. It was our draw in the second round of CIF. The Lancers did pick up some consecutive first downs in the second quarter.
As well, Jimenez foreshadowed things to come by more than holding his own against D-1 guys like Duke Lemmons, etc. Bill Reidell personally congratulated him on a game well played after the match. I've got some tape of Jimenez pancaking OC's 6'8 300 pd. Center that went to Arizona...helluva hit!
Observancat, my brother from LS is right. We had the dubious honor of playing them last year for the Quarterfinals. At the end of the half it was 36 -0, a little better than Muir did, although the outcome was the same. We opened up holes on them that night, but they were bigger, faster, stronger: a well oiled machine.
Friday night will also be a BIG game. The Quarterfinals always are! The BIGGEST game in history, that is debatable.
thats right new york!
Crazy,
I'm confused...the communists are the party who manufactures thos sweet things, rolled on the thighs of those beauties down there. However...there is nothing communist about Monrovia. 100% CAPITALIZING on the opportunity to go to the next round of CIF.
Fred there is no doubt this game is an important game, all CIF Quarterfinals are. Do not misinterprret this, we La Salle Boosters appreciate you finally giving our Football Program props. The most important game in La Salle history was the one that got this program going some 16 years back now when Stewck led the Lancers into the Grid Iron for the first time ever! That has allowed for this moment to be.
Crazy Im pretty sure they wont, but you can of course try by all means, but Verbum Dei is in Compton? Wow this will be interesting, to see the outcome of that game
Observantcat, the La Salle vs. Oaks Christian game was not scheduled, it was a playoff game; get your facts straight. It was a David/goliath match againts a team that deserved to be in a much higher division, and We lost. But we did move the ball on them, and as I remember, Troy Whitehead intercepted a pass from the top qb in the country (jimmy cluasen). Dexter and Burry racked up a number of yards, i think we got close to one hundred on running.
You can't even come close to comparing these two games. Monrovia is good, and has shown it can beat la salle, but as most here will attest to, its a completely different situation here, and Lancers are a rejuvinated team. I expect a hell of a game.
LSHS:
That game against Oaks Christian last year was a Joke. It was as bad as Muir this year. Your team did'nt even have a first down in the first three quarters of the game. I dont think you should praise your coaching staff for scheduleing a game of that magnitude. I wonder if things were the way they are now, do you guys think that you could come back and make up a 63 point deficit on a team like that?.... What makes you think that you can do that on MONROVIA?...Garrison let you guys off the hook with a lot of his reserves playing most of the Second and fourth quarters of the game. This is Playoffs and If the score ends up 50-0 at the half, it could concievably be in the 70's at the end. Like Fred Said, This is your biggest game of the season. I could very well be your last.
NY, I am not sure if Lou will be there. He may be catching the Verb/TC showdown in Compton. Look for me and the rest of Cuba/LA crew, I will be the one with a Cuban cigar sticking out my mouth!!! I hope the communists in Monrovia let me smoke it!
Anyone who doesn't think this IS the biggest game in La Salle history is kidding themselves. Don't hide from it, embrace it. This isn't newspaper talk, it's reality.
As I said before, there is no doubt Friday night's game is important, just as last Friday night's was. The Lancers are not putting any more on it than that. We have been here for the big game before, we know what we need to do. All that stuff about La Salle's biggest game, is for newspapers, any one that thinks the Lancers will be influenced by hyperbole, does not know the coaching staff at La Salle well!
I Disagree i think that last years gam against powerhouse oaks chirstian was the biggest in there history.... those boys went out there and fought in a game they had no business in.... dexter and burry both ran the ball very well against a first string defense and the offensive line all opend up some gaps.... ITs games like that against big name schools that put Lasalle on the map
I cant wait to till friday either lancerdouble8s, it is gonna be a good game at least i hope, but i know those kids at la salle want this game and now they have it so its gonna be on friday night, hope to see the monrovia brothas their, good luck to the rams because I actually wanna see a rematch of duarte/TC. So i hope the falcons will stay focused and not get big headed over knocking off la canada
Speaking of Chuck Ellis, he just called to say that Pasadena Poly's game on Friday against Notre Dame will be at Rubidoux High School at 7 p.m.
Fred,
Just to pile on - Amen to that re: Chuck Ellis. I just got back from the Poly Fall Sports Award event and you have never seen a more positive and encouraging environment at a high school - obviously sort of easy to do with the success of the football and volleyball teams (BTW, they are going to be great in girls volleyball over the next 3 years - 2 freshman on varsity and 5 on the JV, - all who started or played alot- a freshman MVP on the JV) - but the other sports with not quite as winning records - tennis, water polo and cross country (although they have done well). He is always around offering positive encouragement - even at Frosh level events. Anyway that positive and encouraging environment regardless of the outcome of the game and the team's won/loss record is in large part due to the inviting, inclusive, positive and encouraging tone Chuck has set over the years. He will be missed.
Fred - Thanks for the love for Maranatha - great picture of Alex. Who would have thought that after the beating we took at the hands of RHP that we would be where we are at. I understand the hype about Monrovia and TC - I am a TC grad who lived through the Bob Hitchcock era of greatness - however life goes on and while you always want your alma mater to do well - you have to love where your kids call home and get on that bandwagon. Maybe it is time for La Salle, Poly and Maranatha to show this valley what the small private schools can do - Finchamp - RHP too - they will return to greatness next year - hopefully not at our undoing in the pre-season. Keep covering the "bigs" we little guys will continue to show the love for our schools, for win or lose, we are proud of our kids - Salesian here we come - Go Minutemen!!!!
woops - just read my comment - "lead" should "led" - if you are going to post for Poly you have to get those things "write" - I mean "right".
Thanks, and I can't talk about Pasadena Poly without saying what a great athletic director they have in Chuck Ellis, who is retiring at the end of the year. I'm going to miss him.
Yes - he was very exciting to watch - one of my saddest Orange and Blue days was when he lost as a senior to Flintridge Prep in the finals at PCC. The teams he lead as a junior and sophmore were outstanding. But, I think this may be a better all around team with the offensive and defensive prep league players of the year (and the league MVP - I have watched that kid develop since he was on those great LC Gladiator teams with Lavelle Peterson - he was a great kid back then too)as juniors back this year as seniors - a ture D1 player who plays on both sides of the line and 3 - 4 kids who will go on and play on Saturdays in the Ivy leagues or equivalents in college. But time will tell - to really be considered the best they have to win the division. Thanks for your coverage of the team (your coverage of the Poly/Rio game was great) and the prep league.
Any Alhambra bloggers out there. Anyone think they have a shot to beat Santa Fe and send Ruedaflores to the semifinals?
Thanks for joining Orange and Blue. Best Poly team ever? Not so sure, I liked those teams with the blonde curly-haired quarterback. Remember him?
How low have the bloggers stooped as to start posting the names of high school kids??? Come on fellas. Let's have some standards here.
Tom S,
This year Poly has a great group of kids many of whom I have known for a long time and a really smart, dedicated and fun coaching staff that really appreciates their fans and lets the fans get close to the program. I hope they go far in the playoffs - they deserve to.
Wow, Orangeandblue, someone from Poly posting on this site. Don't worry Fred will get your picture up now that you gave him a source to get one from. Now tht my friend Finchamp is out of the picture best of luck to us small schools.
GO MARANATHA
GO POLY
http://www.polytechnic.org/athletics/pantherclub/photos/football-varsity/
Fred, Above is a link where you can pull action photos for Poly - so they don't feel left out.
Fred,
Where is the Love? Pasadena Poly one of the oldest schools in the area are 9-1 and are undefeated in league champs, stopped Rio's 18 game home win streak and spanked their opening round opponent. No picture - what gives? This may be their best team ever - although they have moved up in class so winning the division will be much more difficult - but certaintly attainable. This is a really exciting (racking up 40 + points a game) and hard hitting team to watch with 4 D1 -albeit mostly smaller D1 schools - players. What do you think of their chances vs. Riverside Notre Dame?
You know Fred: Maybe Poly has the best shot at championship win. They knock off RHP for the league title and they’re staying away for this site. Keeping quite and going about their business. They have a big game against Notre Dame but who knows.
Maybe it’s time to put a poll up to see which of the local teams has the best shot at a championship title.
HELL YUEA BOI! LANCERS ARE GUNA ROCK THE CATZZZZ on friday night! VRB WILL SMASH TC! GOD I HOPE SO! im praying for VERB for the first time in my life to WIN! get em casey
The quarterfinals might as well be the RHL-Camino Real league challenge.
Seriously, will it be such a huge surprise if La Salle and Verbum Dei both win?
I'm starting to think there's a better chance of a Verbum Dei-Duarte semifinal.
Oh Fred, did you just open the door. Man are the La Salle fans going to come in screaming even though they’re a big underdog to Monrovia. And what about the possibility of a Temple City vs Duarte semi game? Muir, I doubt it.
By the way, we'll have video highlights of the Monrovia-La Salle game on Saturday's website, with coaches interviews following the game.
All I'm missing is a picture of Poly, but since none of their fans weigh in, I'm sure I'll have no complaints.
thanks for chaning the pic and good choice.. NATE BURY #33 tearing it up.. cant wait till the game time
Well Tom, if Monrovia or Muir are still alive in the semifinals, that's our first priority. I'd love to cover a Maranatha playoff, but Muir and Monrovia have stronger football traditions -- you understand.
Thank you Fred
And Fred
I case you don't know our website is
http://www.maranatha-hs.org/
Go to photo albums and then to football. You can pull off any picture you want to use. Actually a very good high school website we have.
I hate to get ahead of things but if we beat Salesian and Boron, who’s favored, beats Brentwood then, according to the cif site, we’ll have the home game in the semi finals. Do you think that would warrant a Star News reporter for the game or should Rick continue to be the correspondent?
Tom S, that was for you
Hey Fred: I made the comment about a picture of our Maranatha team. So, go to our website and pull a picture from it and put it on. No big deal.
C'mon now, that can't be the real James Davis. You're both going to drive Garrison and Gallagher crazy.
Minutemen fan, sorry, no disrespect intended. It's our fault we don't have file photos of one of your games or I would put a picture up.
Same with La Salle, grabbed an old photo off your website. Shoot me, I didn't know both of you would come this far. Especially La Salle, after losing so many good players last year, I was thinking, 2-8, 3-7 at best. What a surprise.
that shit isnt baier.. i block for him hes not cocky like that.. its probably some monrovia guy just tryin to start crap
You're right New York, It's probably one of the Imposters on this site getting a high on thinking this game has been played.
You're right New York, It's probably one of the Imposters on this site getting a high on thinking this game has been played.
I bet that was not even the real Baiers. Bad form for impersonating a player.
I'm picking it right now...
Verb over TC
When I was a LANCER my HOME was Monrovia.
PS-Us Cubans look forward to partying with Philly B.and the "Cat" Brothers (Observant and otherwise) on Friday. It's gonna be a ball game!
MARANATHA
MARANATHA
MARANATHA
Please Goldenbear, Dont Kill anyone to get back in this Game. I was an all american D1 Player and I would'nt even Kill anyone to go back to Monrovia High If we were in the D1 High school conference and playing Oaks Christian. It's Only Football and sometimes your teams have it and sometimes it does'nt. I have seen a lot of Improvment at least through the papers about LaSalle And I have witnessed in person the Monrovia Players making bigger strives since playing TC and finishing off the Rio Hondo League. My opinion La Salle may not have wished to play Monrovia this early in the Play-offs. With a good team and a playoff Match-up Monrovia is always on top of their Game. I want it to be a better game than before. I think the key factors will be special teams play, and I give that edge to Monrovia. No Turnovers are also key's to keeping the game close.
Uh-oh...Are the Lancers going to fall to the Star News cover page jinx?
Fred: Just checked Cal Preps and they project Maranatha 26 Salesian 21. I know this is just crunching numbers but you use them. Why no answer from Campa on the question I asked him yesterday?
A Campa:
From your previous post “Coach, from one salesian to another, I’ll assume you’re a Salesian HS alumni. If that’s the case I would like to know your opinion on this week’s big Maranatha vs. Salesian HS quarter final game.
its going to be a great game.. no one can disagree its gonna be a fight to the finish..
GO LANCERS
and fred lets put a picture of our present lancers.. those guys u have are from 3 yrs ago.. no one is on the team anymore from that pic.. its a new group and lets give them some respect
Wow, Minuteman Fan, I was just writing to Fred about the same thing.
HEY FRED, where’s the coverage for the two “Pasadena small schools, Maranatha and Poly who are also going into the quarter finals? I know the big game is the La Salle vs Monrovia but let’s not forget the small schools who have had great seasons and making statements in the playoffs.
Where are our pictures? Lets show some love man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can Maranatha get a little press?
With regard to the Monrovia game being the "biggest game in La Salle history" let's say every game is a big game.
With regard to a win over Monrovia helping "future recruiting", one of the reasons we chose La Salle was because we felt they recruited students first, and athletes second. The four pillars of La Salle football in order of importance are Faith, Family, Academics, and Football - football is last. I hope La Salle does not lose its way in the future by recruiting athletes just to have a winning football team. Let's remember, these are teenagers playing, and it is a game.
With that said, GO LANCERS!!!
Dont hype yourself up goldenbear for dissappointment, best believe that monrovia is our house and you were on our field, so know that it is our home game not yours. Our defense is to mean to let the quarterback get going
Fred,
I highly doubt the Lancers would agree with your notion of wanting to prove themselves. I'm sure they entered this four-round Monrovia Invitational with intentions of winning, no matter who they have to play.
My money is still on Monrovia, just as it has been since January.
Cubana, are you bringing Stueck out to this party?
Thanks for the props Fred!
I'd kill to be back on that field right now. If LSHS pulls this one off, it'd make ever ex-lancer proud.
It'd make my thanksgiving break.
Lets go Lancers, beat the wildcats!
