Central and Western Division

Central
Muir was not seeded, so the 8-2 Mustangs have a tough opener. Paloma Valley (7-3) finished in a three-way tie for the Sunbelt, and is riding a three-game winning streak. The only loss Paloma Valley suffered in league was in overtime to 8-2 Hemet. However, without Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Dominguez and even St. Francis in the division, the Mustangs have a shot to advance to the quarters, and maybe semi's.
Arcadia (5-5) has the huge task of going to No. 2 seeded Colton (8-2), The San Andreas League champions only two losses came against teams with a combined record of 16-4, so the Apaches have their hands full trying to escape the first round.
Western
St. Francis (6-4) earned the at-large berth after losing four of their last five games. Did they deserve it? Absolutely given their strong preseason schedule. The Knights are facing Ocean league co-champ Culver City (8-1-1), which, has an amazing offense, but no defense. They lost 63-35 to St. Monica, and tied Beverly Hills, 56-56, in the league finale. So, don't sleep on the Knights.

Interesting layout on your blog. I really enjoyed reading it and also I will be back to read more in the future.

I know it's no where near as good as you interesting posts here but let me at least give you a smile as a form of thanks for your hard work writing this stuff?

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

When was the last time Bonds (S.F.)won a tittle? "HE HASN'T" Will he ever? NO!!!!!! Parents, Alumni, and staff of S.F., lets stop the bleeding!!!! That means you Father Matt!!! How about make the school and football team what every child aspires to be, a "CHAMPION"

Amen Brother!!!

Finally someone who feels my pain. No hard feelings coaches, but it's not personal, just business. You guys have had enough time to get this program where it should be, but now it's time for a "CHANGE".

I think the Booster Club and the Alumni Association should seek a replacement, and the Administration should listen to what they have to say. Saint Francis H.S. puts in a lot of time and effort in becoming an excellent academic institution. They should also put that same effort into making Saint Francis H.S. into a fine Athletic Institution. It needs to be a group effort and everyone needs to be on the same page.

SF had the best team to make a run for the championship. Now the kids are left embarassed, wondering what they did wrong. Coaches, how could you let this happen. I've said this once before. There is nothing worse in this world than Wasted Talent. Can you live with that? What a shame!

Hey Steve,I didn't think it was the coaches fault a few days ago, but watching the game tonight made me change my mind. Injustice for the seniors on that team was not fair at all! Carter, Arriola, Riley and a few others came to play, but the rest of the team gave up. I don't know what kind of plays the coach was calling. If there is a professional(Kinlaw), why not use the knowlege that he has? They held a team that usually has 21 pts. in the first quarter to a 7-3 score. Halftime Culver City came out knowing how to shut SF down. Why couldn't SF coaches figure them out? Something needs to be done quickly, before the class of 2008 suffers the same fate.

He played for St. Francis.

Steve said:

To all of the St. Francis Golden Knights. You guys still have the ability to make a run in the CIF Playoffs. You just have to believe.

Seniors, don't make this your last football game. You have to play every play like it's your last. I believe, offensively, Collis can lead this team to victory. Defensively, Daryl Carter will play like a mad man and get his defense motivated.

You can do it Golden Knights!! You just have to want it more.

SF Alumni said:

Steve-
Mike Kane was better at that stage of their respective careers. Grant was on that '82 team and learned by watching Kane. Kane was a punishing runner who had a quiet confidence about him. Alan Grant was just a great athlete who went on and played at Stanford and in the NFL. I never saw Kerwin play but I have heard stories about him. He might have better than both but the difference is in the leadership. Kane and Grant were great leaders and I don't know if you can say the same about Bell.

Steve said:

SF Alumi,

Mike Kane was an outstanding running back, who also tried out for the Rams after his career at Cal State Northridge.

Do you think Kane was better than Allan Grant, or Curwin Bell. I never saw Curwin Bell play, but I heard he was a monster on the field.

SF Alumni said:

The running back for SF that year was Mike "Nova" Kane. In my opinion, the best back the school has ever produced. He was All CIF and League MVP.

Loyola will be back next year. SF probably could have given Loyola a game this year, but next year when they play will be interesting. I know a lot of other Alumni who are looking forward to that game next year. It was a great rivalry for many years and still is in sports like soccer.

Steve said:

Dude, that question was for fred!, But good answer. I totally know SF can beat Loyola this year. Bishop Amat even rocked them. SF Alum. Who was the running back on that 1982 team?

SF Alumni said:

I believe SF last beat Loyola in 1982 at Glendale High School. The win gave SF the league title but they were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by Huntington Beach.

Steve said:

Ok Fred, here's another for you.

Name the year that Saint Francis last beat Loyola?

Steve said:

Campa,

I think your right, but not as a QB, He's far more a better Saftey.

FredJ said:

C'mon, St. Francis. Any more questions?

A. Campa said:

Steve,

I won't spoil Fred's chance to answer the question, but I'd bet that team could sure use him now.

Steve said:

Fred,

Trivia question.

Where did Muir's Quaterback, Lance Mitchell, play football his freshman year?

LancerVideo said:

Fred, St Francis lost 4 of 5, but not 3 in a row.
