Anonymous, quit it! LS has 4 lineman that take every snap on both sides of the ball and I will bet your 70 against their 70 Jimenez! He is the best O and D lineman in the Division. He has gone up against the best talent nationwide: USC Pete Carroll Rising Senior Football Camp, U of M Larry Coker Football Camp won Tight End award, U of Oregon Nike Football Camp. He has shined against the best in the USA. So be careful making wishes they may just come TRUE!

la salle's line plays all 48 mins so i dunno wtf ur crying about

just so everyone knows, not to make excuses for TC's loss to La Salle, but there were not one, but 2 key players missing in that game. What apparantly is the key to dwight's success is his offensive line, and arguably the best lineman on his team was missing form that game. Dwight's favorite lead-blocking pulling gaurd sat out the entire game due to injuries. So not only was dwight not in, but dwight's back-up was running behind a pulling guard with no experience and nowhere near the talent that the #70 (the starting guard) has. That entirely kills the run game. Its one thing to be a back-up and run through an open hole and then get tackeld, but its another to run to a hole to find your guard stuck in it with a defensive lineman. Also, #70 is one of the teams defensive tackles. The three defensive tackels are all two way players so they use the roatatino to have 2 play and one take a break. Without him out there, that leaves the two inside guys playing all 48 minutes. Guarantee it, La Salle vs. a temple city team with dwight and his guard, that game has a different ending.

Finchamp: Thanks for the props. Maranatha will beat Whittier Christian, take the championship and go into playoffs 2nd place in the Northeast division. I don't know these new supporters but great to see them posting. After the blimp flies over your field send them on over to Whittier College so we can get some airtime on Fred's Friday Night High School Football highlights.

I assume you already know your allies from Maranatha on the blog. Not only do I think Maranatha is good enough to win league I think you are good enough to win CIF. Our RH Prep team played many of the teams that are ranked in your division this year during the run to the title last year. Maranatha has the personnel to do it. The question is whether they can put it together under pressure and the coaching staff making good decisions at critical points.

Well, I guess the high school kids finally found this blog, particular "Horsey Fans" will not be mentioned. It's nice that those who made this enjoyable from the start are still around (the family of big Ms, minutemen fans, RHP fans, burbank, and the rest). It's been quiet from the Lancer neck of the woods for one reason, and anyone who has strapped it on knows this....the real season starts NEXT week.

The Rams are coming off their most impressive win of the season... even the TC bloggers were quiet before the Monrovia game. They've proved a few things:
- They're faster than anyone thought.
- Their line is legit.
- They are hot going in to the playoffs (no disrespect, Blair... but your win Thurs would be the biggest upset of the decade!)

The La Salle fans are fond of telling everyone that will listen that their win against TC in Week 5 was the beginning of a run that has defined their season... that a different team exists than the one that got doubled up at Monrovia in Week 4. I don't disagree... maybe your loss to the Cats woke you up, and helped turn you into a divisional force. Well... the Rams, since losing to you, have gone on a run of their own. If a loss can make a team better... and I believe it can... than the TC team today is NOT the team you beat weeks ago... just like the Lancer team that the Cats beat weeks back, no longer exists.

Our loss to TC has awakened the proverbial sleeping giant... first So Pas... then the division. Here's to addition by subtraction...

Neutral, Broadnax DID NOT play against La Salle at all. He was suited up and did not play. If you want to keep playing the game remember La Salle lost to San Marino and TC destroyed La Salle. The only good team you beat was TC and TC took the last 3 quarters off and it showed. If they face each other in the playoffs it's game over for the Lancers. And if they do, when Broadnax runs over La Salle what are you going to say then? Remember you just said it...good teams win without their best players so La Salle should beat TC without there defensive end and with the Rams and Broadnax. Game Over.

Excuse me Fred, I believe that Broad was healthy and infact did play in the second half. Ya he was injured, but a good team wins without their stars. La Salle was missing their starting Defensive end who sadly is out for the season. They were both injured yes, and if TC was a complete team they shoul've won the game, but they did not. Ya LS lost their first 5 games, but these past 4 weeks you have to say that they have looked impressive. LS has by FAR played the hardest schedule compared to the rest of the teams and their abilities. LS's opponents all have winning records but Mary Star and St. Monica. I am not saying that they should be a top 5 yet, but come on Alhambra, RHP, and SP all ahead of them? And another thing TC should beat LS everytime. A school of over 1,000 kids can't beat a small catholic school? That is what should piss off TC fans about how that they do not even have enough players out a thousand kids to beat up on the small area private schools. But you know what now LS just has to go out and keep repeating what they have done this past few weeks, so that all these people bagging will shut up.

La Salle, it's all good guys, but I'd have to agree with the rankings, wins and losses, I'm not sure how FredJ figures it out, but to me, it doesn't seem as if its based on BCS rankings, La Salle beat TC, you feel as if they should have moved up into at least the top 10 earlier correct? Your team won its league (GRATS!), but in the end, those teams have a better win-loss record..and I personally think that this is the one of the major decision(s) in Fred's Top10. So stop hounding Fred.

and hey Turdunken, it ain't all about PASSING in this game (or at least in this area). Our Valley teams and schools try their best with WHAT THEY GOT, and they run with it. and in the end, all the players in this valley play because they love what their doing, and yeah Riley doesn't pass much, but when it's crutch time buddy thats what a QB is suppose to do, 'Lead all at all costs no matter what' and show poise to his team and I know for a fact that he's always positive. And that goes for all the QBs who might not be getting as much love as they should be.

Fred, the fact that we lost to so and so and they beat so etc, etc, etc,. Does not mean a lot as we all know. The fact of the matter is, that if you have seen LS play over the last 5 weeks, you will see a diffrent team than from weeks before, but besides all of that the competition we have faced is above some of the schools you have included. A 7-1 team on a weak league is not the same as 5-5 on a strong league. The CR has Verbum Dei, who is for reals. No smoke and mirrors there, as well as Mary Star a tough gritty team. The proof is in the pudding, so Philly B, dont get your knickers in a knot, we are not shutting up but standing for what we believe, let the games begin. That will tell.

Burbank, Burbank, Burbank, Crescenta Valley isn't technically part of our coverage area, which is why they're not included in the rankings.
As for Arcadia everyone, I think they would beat every team ranked below them.
La Salle bloggers want me to forget about all their losses, and I can't do that. Maybe the Camino Real is terrible, we'll soon find out in the playoffs. But San Marino beat La Salle and Monrovia destroyed La Salle. La Salle deserves a lot of credit for the win over T.C., but again, they didn't have Broadnax. That's like taking Peterson away from La Canada. He had 300 yards against Monrovia, so I think he would have been a factor in that game. Bottom line, a 4-5 record and a No. 10 ranking in the Star-News is more than fair. Don't diminish what the teams ranked ahead have done.

Fred- please correct the typo for the Central. Burbank #10 must be a mistake. Put Arcadia at #10 after all they lost to us 42-14. Thanks.

i think that is the million dollar question crazy. because for la salle not to be ranked is very crazy. i will say that their league for more competitve than duarte's league i understand them not being ranked but la salle should be getting respect and their not so i completely understand for all the anger, but saying that dont get ur ring size just yet because the pairings haven't even been set yet so, just have patience and then we'll see whos gonna get a ring

Fred, regardless of what La Canada, South Pas, Alhambra or Rio Hondo Prep's records may be, do you think they are a better team that La Salle? I beg to differ. The La Salle HS football team is a hard hitting team. Now that it is healthy, thanks to the resurgence of Andy Saldana and the return to 100% of Alex Jimenez, along with Troy Whitehead, it has shown week over week, that it can hit with the best of them. We demonstrated on a Saturday afternnon with Temple City and then again with a very fast, big and athletic Verbum Dei team, then went on down to dredded Daniel's Field and out hit Mary Star, not your garden variety football team. All in all you are off in your calculations, but we appreciate at least putting us on the Top 10.

You see it, but you can not believe it! How can CIF rank any one that has lost almost every league game and does not have a snowball's chance in hell to make the playoffs: Cantwell and leave off the CR league champ: La Salle? I've heard of voodoo economics, but this one is past me.
It's all good, because no matter what happens the Championship ring is La Salle's. I donot beleive by any stretch of the imagination that LS deserves to be ranked amongst the top of the division, our record and poor playing at the beggining of the season does not warrant it: TC, M, VC they are top teams with winning records and the Lancers are not, but come on now!!!!Where do they come up with this stuff?

According to the CIF website, the San Marino-Burroughs game is at San Marino tonight, not Burroughs. However, I think you're dead on. I think Burroughs knocks off San Marino 3-1. The Titans haven't seen a defense like Burroughs. Even PHS coach Ronnie Joseph said that the Indians are one the best defenses his team has played this year.

In fact, I think the Pacific League goes 2-1 in this opening round of the Division II-A playoffs against the Rio Hondo League. Arcadia will stifle SoPas 3-0 but La Canada will knock off CV 3-0. If all goes right, the marque matchup will be Saturday when RHL champ La Canada plays Pacific champ PHS. If that happens, I'll be there.

CANTWELL IS STILL RANKED!!!!! How dumb do you have to be to have Cantwell still ranked. they might have a decent record but they played teams that couldn't find water if they fell out of a boat in the middle of the pacific. LS should be ranked, I am not saying that they should be top 3 but #5 would be justified. Personally i want to see SP win so that LS can get them in the first round. But Monrovia should win hands down. SM could win and that would make it intereesting, but it wouldnt matter any way, because whoever LS gets it will be under the lights at LS for the first time and that will give those LS players a chance to prove themselves that the Sat. curse is bulls#*t. Fred, i think what everyone is trying to say is that these ranknings are all f***** up. i mean arcadia like south pas has not lived up to the hype in pre-league. and both of those teams are fighting for a playoff berth. la salle took care of their business in league while everyone was talkin about the RHL being 16-4. What was the outcome in that. It still came down between monrovia and temple city. la salle had a rough start and won aginst temple city and hasn't missed a beat since so i mean it is what it is but that top ten is a bit off, but i know u do your best in what u think so i guess im just giving my opinion

Like I say all the time about L S and those first 5 games, "Just Win Baby". Then the respect will be yours and nobody will be able to take it away from U.

I'm sure there are reasons why Fred chose the teams to be in the rankings the way they are. I wouldn't put sooo much emphasis on the rankings and polls...it ALL comes down to the games...

by the way...if you are going to play that game...La Salle lost to San Marino who lost to Monrovia, Temple City and South Pasadena...

the answer to the three way tie is this. a coin flip decides the first two teams to play (same two sides play).
those two teams then take the ball from the 25 yard line, in. each will get a chance to score and until one scores and stops the other it will keep going. finally the same will happen between the winner and the 3rd team.

Remember Fred that you agreed to include ARROYO in these new polls... maybe the Knights should occupy #15 since ARROYO beat rosemead in the crosstown showdown 27-23. Actually, for the first time in my life I am rooting for koffler and the panthers to win (vs SEM).

Come on Fred, Alhambra, RHP, LC, and SP ahead of La Salle. Now I know their record is not that great, but come on look who they have beaten and lost to. They beat TC who beat Alhambra. They beat Verbum Dei who easily beats Monrovia athleticly wise. LC cannot pass at all, though Lavelle is good he cannot carry that team over anyone really good. SP lost to TC, and will not make the playoffs. La Salle won league already. Fred wake up, you might as well put Cantwell in the top 10, because apparently CIF still ranks them even though they won't make the playoffs. This is ridiculous and an insult to the LS players. They should take this mistreatment by their own paper and go out and smash people in playoffs because of this.

Even the Star News doesn't know where to put La Salle. I think the SN put them ahead of RHP last week after a bye week for La Salle and now behind RHP after another strong La Salle showing. I'm true to RHP but I'd have La Salle at 5 1/2 on the Star News top ten...and Fred you're just trying to be nice by adding the "next five" business...

How is la salle not ranked... they smashed on Mary Star 50-7 and smashed on Cantwell 35-7 and Mary Star beat Cantwell.. how can Cantwell still be ranked and la salle isn't

im glad to see you've been a bit humbled, but i think if SP does somehow beat Monrovia, which even i dont think is very plausible, then LC beats SM, then there is a three way tie for second, SP LC and Monrovia...

and i guess they would do the same thing as they would if monrovia beats sp and sm beats lc, which there would be a three way tie for third...

I cant believe that la salle is still not ranked. I mean they are taking care of business in thier league, as well as duarte. But duarte is expected to do that in that weak league. but la salle is playing good ball and i can admit that. but im not hating on south pas but im jus going by stats, record and scoreboards. sp lost to tc, and la salle beat tc. sp loses to lc. and this team came in "undeafeated" I feel that if la salle keeps getting disrespected in the polls then thats more fuel to the fire. la salle wants to play tc at full strength to let everyone know that their for reals, and monrovia wants a rematch aginst tc. if monrovia beats sp(i did say 'if') will they even make the playoffs?
