Well put observantcat. Some want to be blind to the obvious. But I feel lucky that I went to such a diverse school as monrovia. I never felt as the token ethnic person their. Of course the main percentile is hispanic, But out of all the schools in the area i feel that monrovia is the most diverse of them all. That's what makes Monrovia one of the Great teams in the SGV. The school is Color Blind. I think that the combination of the different backgrounds that make up our teams says a lot. There was a time in the City of Monrovia that this was not the case. I used to get chased home at night and called the N word. But once I got into High School I realized that none of that mattered to me. I shared great experiences throught my high school days realizing that there is going to be predijuice no matter where you go or what you do. The inside TC joke is true though about their Sheriff's. They used to turn on the red lights if they say more than two Black guys walking down the street together coming from the Duarte area. (Called Racial Profiling) Back then it was call (Business as usual). Football has brought the Community together in more ways than one. Over the years we could see an all white cheerleeding squad and a mostly black football team, and Visa/verse. But thats what Makes communities great. This school has some Super Rich and some Dirt poor Players but you could'nt tell the difference because they all act like brothers. All this to say that if Football is the main focus on this blog than no matter where you have to play you go with the spirit of your community in mind. I doubt that there will be a drive by at the 50 yrd line in the middle of a game.

unless your the resdient advisor, your just another person on the blog, it a blog i dont have to racely attack anyone. if you read the blog i was responding to a question. so you can say what you wont but intimadation will be a factor. but hopefuly the better team wins.

As I said, Ex-Falcon, my comments were not directed toward whether or not fans travel. I was talking about the comparisons made regarding the players who were mentioned as well as the comment about the great TC runningbacks, which is just not true.(Mooney played at USC and I believe a guy named Mushinski played at Nebraska, among others.)

As far as the 12 man: yeah, it's always nice to have a supportive crowd. I fully expect fewer TC fans to travel all the way to Compton than they did to MHS, partly because of perceived danger and partly due to distance. The thing is, though, good teams don't need to rely on huge momentum swings to win games. TC tries to control the clock and with it the crowd.

More than anything, I did not like some of the undertones or the potential of where this thread was headed, which is no place to be.

I'm a Monrovian. I've seen Monrovia get beat by Artesia and Muir as well as by all white Temple City teams. Paso Robles did not seem to have much color of any kind. My point is that good football has nothing to do with skin color. What am I ignoring? Focus on the color of the jerseys.

By the way, this is not directed to whether or not TC fans will travel to a certain game. I'm referring to results on the field, the only thing that matters in the CIF brackets.

This Verbum Dei team sounds very similar to the Serra team from a couple years ago. That team beat TC in the second round...

There is no doubt that Coach Mooney knows that Verbum Dei is for reals. I hope the team does also. The Eagles have a great number of weapons and if they play disciplined and mistake free it will make for a very interesting night of football. They have defensive ends and linebackers (Aakeem Ayers 6'3'/225/ 4.5 40) every bit as fast as Broadnax and their O Line is massive (300lbs.) with one of the top athletes in Los Angeles: Reggie Dunn at tailback and a bruiser Shawn Merritt as the other back. The can rack up points almost at will.
Did I mention that the game is being played in Compton?

M-town is athletic and if I was someone from TC i'd be quiet especially with this game coming up, only team that has played verbum dei from the area is la salle and they barely beat them. The only reason why their is talk going on from monrovia and la salle because it is the rematch, and when has their been a rematch in the area, TC fans need to beeee quiet right now

I've lived in TC all my life. So I've got to say the sophomoronics from these people are not at all surprising.

Ex-falcon is right, I see a pretty ugly match-up if you guys do get by Verbum Dei, Harris is a much stronger running back than Broadnax and I think that Duarte is much faster on Defense than you guys are used to. I would love to be at that game instead of the Monrovia game that week. LaSalle is coming back to Monrovia to finish the game they played before the second string was put in halfway thru the third quarter.

One chain don't make no prison...it takes more than just ONE player. It is and has been obvious for a couple of years that that is the case of LC. No disrespect but the truth is the truth.
Fred, you may want to think over your statement about how in High school Football one player can dominate a game, and you are right, one player can have a huge outcome on a game. But on closer inspection you will usually find that an impact player, game swinger type, has a great O Line to block for him and a Defense behind him that keeps him on the field, racking up the yards. Otherwise they go the way of Lavelle and LC. It's a whole team effort and its all about The Hitting! The hardest Hitting team wins!

dont know lavelle but i dont think he is a punk. but he is a great back, but its all falcon pride here.

I think Duarte has a pretty good shot at winning. Why not? Doesn't Duarte have some pretty big linemen that could clog up the middle? Force the LC QB to make some plays? Pick a couple off and take them to the house? Let LC potentially self-destruct? It's not as if Peterson calls the plays.

i love how everyone just counts the falcon out. my little brother was on the 2001 duarte football team they played south torrence. Chuncey washington was there running back. he was great in the first half, but the second half was a different story. duarte won that game. hopefully we can win this game.

let't not underestimate la salles defense, defense didn't finish against monrovia, but they were also coming off 4 disheartining losses and had to deal with their offenses turnovers, coach petersons defense would love another shot at monrovia but this week its about fillmore. the lancers are focused on the week ahead of them, and are ready to show they can stop a true run team.

I'm still sticking to my original prediction that PHS wins it all. There is only one Roleder. Hard to tell about Hemet-tough league and schedule.
Elsinore is solid at every position, well coached and likely have next year's dominant middle hitter, but they can be beaten.

La salle is gonna beat Monrovia. Lets not cash our checkes just let as well as monrovia does you have a game to worry about first on friday against Fillmore. So until then lets not go there with the threats. No one from monrovia is even talking about beating la salle because we all know that la salle is a better team then what we played, and for you to say that la salle is gonna stomp on monrovia is showing your arrogance to this blog. I haven't seen Ali Troost this season, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a more dominant player then PHS's Kimmee Roleder. This is a girl who could realistically average about 35 kills a match. I believe Maxpreps has Troost's average at 10 kills a game. That would tie her for second on PHS with Katie Merrill. Troost's conversion percentage is somewhat low too.

In fact, I don't think this game is going to be that close. I say PHS at home in four. I would have preferred that PHS play North. There's a lot more balance on that team. Now Elsinore is a different story. That will be a great game. I also think Westridge will advance in four over Viewpoint while Flintridge Sacred Heart goes five games against Santa Barbara, but wins.

What is all this talk about La Selle beating Monrovia?.. Yes monrovia has struggled deffensively in past games but monrovia has also played better teams. and everybody seems to play their best game aginst Monrovia.
And about the 400 yards they put on us maybe true Im not sure BUT what about the 52 pts we put on them. La Selle has improved dont get me wrong but so has monrovia's offense. QB David Potts is playin good football, the running game is coming back again, and LS wont be able to just run all over monrovia because because teams do make ajustments.

LS just worrie about Filmore and us Cats' well take care of azusa!

CIF gives our team no respect, but we will have to show up and play strong D. Regardless of what some of the bloggers here have to say, the LS Run D is tough. Thanks to the changes made by Coach Peterson, the D line has morphed and continues to improve weekly, Quigley and Hilland at tackles, then add Bury and Jimenez at DE, matching book ends, plus the move of Saldana back to the Mike spot has added power to the punch. They will play into our strong suit, and we will be ready to hit!
This is a lot different D than what you saw in MoTown! Just ask TC...

Azusa is first and formost although after seeing them play I was not impressed at all.

Did you not notice that Monrovia gave up over 400 yards against La Salle? Monrovia's D has holes in it and has given up yards every game. Oh and Bury and Baeir have been running better and harder than they were in the first half of the season, just ask TC how strong Bury ran that game compared to against Monrovia. Do not get to confident about beating La Salle right now, cuz Monrovia has struggled recently so hopefully both teams will make it to the second round, with of course La Salle beating Monrovia.

Mission Valley consists of Arroyo, Gabrielino, Rosemead, El Monte, South El Monte, and Mountain View.
Valle Vista has Baldwin Park, Covina, San Dimas, Pomona, Ganesha, and Northview.

What teams are in the valle vista and the Mission valley. If these teams are of equal then im all for it but i really like these arrangements that we have now

A little off topic but what about a Rio Hondo, Montview, Valle Vista, and Mission Valley CIF grouping. This would be relatively competitive year after year and create some great local rivalries. Right now these leagues are grouped with small private schools that (particularly with the Valle Vista) are sometimes far away. Maybe we can get the coaches and AD's to petition for this alignment during the next cycle.

I still have the same assessment that I did going into the season: The CIF reallignment favors TC and LC more so than it does Monrovia (but that's because Monrovia was already more competitive against the Los Padres, Del Rey, and Pioneer teams than TC and LC). That said, I still feel that Monrovia should win the division, if we live up to our potential. That means coaches need to put the players in position to be successful and then the players need to step up and deliver. No more getting outflanked based on formation, no more outside tosses to a defense that is very conscious of the perimeter, no more fade routes against cover four, etc.

Monrovia's playoff success will will likely boil down similarly to every playoff run in the past: how well we defend the power run game, how well we execute a balanced offense, how well we exploit personell mis-matches and holes in the defensive formations we face (sounds obvious, right?). But that is just from some fan up in the ivory tower.

I know about one game at a time BigM but that league is run by duarte falcons and the way we worked them early in the season i dont see any one in that league getting past the first round. Its the RHL vs. Montview league. And i like our odds

Besides... if we do get past Round 1... we'll have an entire week to talk about La Salle/Fillmore... I can wait.

Settle down... this week, it's all about Azusa. NEVER look past your opponent... especially in HS football. If the Cats take care of Azusa... as they should... then we all can talk about Round 2.

For the last four weeks, the Aztecs have been able to put up at least 27 pts/game... including an OT loss to Workman. They run the Veer... but primarily use it for the dive only. They also are fond of the Slam play. They will put as many blockers at the point of attack as possible... they will try to Ram it down our throat (read TC).

I dont think you should look over la salle observantcat, given that monrovia takes care of Azuza, this is a different team that we will be facing a team with something to prove and they want to avenge that horrible lost to us and what better way to do that than the playoffs. but I like the pairings this year and I think that all of our teams from the RHL are the best teams. All three teams can play and go far in the playoffs. This will be exciting. I dont know too much about Sierra Vista But im sure TC will take care of business but I dont think theirs no stoppping lavelle peterson against Duarte. The falcons will have their hands full with him

I think that LaSalle was Monrovia's easiest contest to date. If they play like they know they can it should'nt be a problem. I think that LaSalle has the bigger problem in stopping the run, that is what killed them all night. I think that Potts will make a bigger difference in that game if it were to happen.. Offensensively LaSalle just doesn't have the speed to open up a game that has faster defenders. They have a pretty good passing game but in order for that to work you must open it up with a strong running game. Ps...I'm sure that TC wouldnt mind getting their hands on them.
