Globalization has gone wrong, as it has no rules. Multinationals are almost above the law. They are so huge they are bigger than governments.
hey we will rock your socks!
hey trojanator 45-0?huh try 41-24 temple city!!!
what would you guys say or do. if there was a keppel upset?
i know its against all odds of humanity.
but hey, it can happend :]
Glad I could stir things up. I've seen Tyler play many times, but I haven't seen Lavelle since he was a freshman. I've also seen a few of the LA City running backs who at times look alot faster and more physical than even Tyler.
Did Lavelle attend the NIKE camp? Marcus Hood from Burbank was invited and performed very well. I'm not sure if Wiggan from JBHS was there or not.
1. Does anybody know why the game was held at Muir and not PCC? I'm rather curious.
2. Peterson would do well in any CIF-SS league... be it in Glendora or in Lompoc, in Lancaster or in Torrance...
Someone's been drinking their Haterade...Petersen is a legit stud back, ANYWHERE in CIF-SS. I have also seen both he and M. Tyler play. The only physical edge Tyler has is his acceleration/speed, of course Petersen is more of a power back with good speed. Pretty even, unless you start comparing things Petersen can't control, like OC's superior coaching, o-line, program, and system. I don't care if Petersen was playing for BELL-JEFF !! We'd all know he was for real. I guess we'll see in the future when Petersen and Tyler will hopefully face off sometime in October when the Trojans and Cougars have their annual meeting...I hope you'll take the time to watch that matchup, "burbank".
Fred,
Will there be any coverage for next weeks Burroughs vs. Burbank game?
Burbanksports....
I know it sounds crazy, but Crazy is Right. If he
played for Oaks Christain and Tyler was playing for La Canada they would have very simillar numbers and I might even give the edge to Peterson.
burbanksports, unless you have seen Petersen and Tyler run don't make observations that are off based. I have. Those two guys are as far as talent is concerned are in the same league. Tyler has a program that has further developed his skills and polished his talent. Where Petersen is at, that can not be said. Just so you know Lavelle started as a freshman in the league with the likes of Valencia, Canyon and Hart. He tore them up! Your comments about Blair and others may hold water, he still gained over 180 yards on Temple City and if he had their line, he would average 300-400 a game. Get your SFV behind to the closest reality check point and turn your self in!
Lavelle's #'s wouldn't be as high if he played in a tougher league. 29 yards against CV? Was he injured?
There are cross country runners in the SFV that could gain 200 yards against Blair, South Pasadena and San Marino.
He is a better RB than Wiggans at Burroughs, but I'd take Burbank's Marcus Hood over Wiggans. Next week you'll see why.
Lavelle's a very good back. Not in the same class as Tyler. In the SFV and SCV-Lavelle's just another very good running back. D-1 for sure, but we have alot of those in the SFV.
I agree with you......Crazycube. I am just doing some analyzing of this guy and what damagae he could do to a team that would'nt be prepared for him. I saw the Burroughs and Muir game and I wouldnt even comapare the two ( Wiggans and Peterson in the same category) I just had this feeling since reading about the Cresenta Valley Game with Muir. I just think it would be a good game. I think that Muir has a very week defense and this guy could cause a lot of problems for them if La Canada ran all night. Ps....Stang Fan no offense, but it is what it is....
Observant Cat, I know you're joking. Even with Wiggan, Burroughs only managed to score 21 points on Muir. The Mustangs would score 35-45 points on La Canada. Peterson would do his thing, but it wouldn't be nearly enough.
Observantcat,
Are you really serious? I mean, are you just posting comments because you have nothing else better to do. La Canada better than Muir?????????? Am I the only one here laughing my head off, or does anyone else actually think that this is remotely possible. I thought this was a forum for somewhat intelligible football fans to express their well-reasoned thoughts.
Look, I went to the game last night and yes Lavelle is a great back. Big, strong, low to the ground, etc., etc. (he actually is not that fast however, quick but not fast). There is no way, NOOOOOOOOO way that La Canada would even be able to compete with Muir. If that's the best stuff you've got Observantcat, stop posting comments, or better yet, we should all just stop reading them
SGV if you do not know about Lavelle, you must have been hibernating the last few years. He is in my humble opinion the best running back in the division. If he had an O line alla TC or LS, he would average 300-400 yards every night! In his freshman year at Canyon?, he hit an opponent so hard he broke the collar bone.
He is a bruising, agile runner with 4.5 speed and and a body like the Governator! He has had some bad luck: he sat out part of his sophomore year, I believe due to elegibilty when he made the move to LC, in his junior year he played mostly hurt, yet managed to emarrasses some of the best teams in this Valley with his athletic prowess. He is the best running back in the whole division and probably one of the best in Southern Section, along with the likes of Marc Tyler, etc. You Stangs and Cats fan don't jump all over this, but again it is my opinion and I am entitled to it.
The Muir Mustangs will be able to handle La Canada. Irregardless of Lavelle, whi will amass his 180+yards anyways. Their play is one-dimensional, and you have to have every one on a football team hitting! One guy alone is not going to do it. The Stangs will ride!
Lavelle Peterson has impressed me since the Monrovia Game. I am going to ask Fred one more time, does he think that Muir would even have a chance against La Canada?.....and to all of the Burbank and Burroughs Faithful. This Kid would run all over the pacific league defense's.
K tanner,
And you don't think SM is fired up for this rivalry game? This game is gonna be intense.
SM all the way.
Burbank 56
Glendale 0
Hopefully Arcadia can play some football tomorrow night, beat Muir and pave the way for Burbank to be Pacific League Champs.
can someone tell me what just happened at the La Canada/Blair game!!! over 300yds. on 12 carries and 6 TDs????? who is this kid?
[if you can't tell, im from the East SGV]...
In the past, many Blair/La Canada games had been held at Pasadena City College. Why is this one being played at Muir?
df
i'm rooting for la salle on this game. they've had a strong comeback after an intensely scheduled preleague season. the strength of the teams they played shows the confidence that the ls coaching staff has in their players to really give it their all when it gets down to crunchtime. all my best to you lancers.
southeastern #6 schurr still plays football in this area dont they?
Amen to that Pasadena guy
Kids quitting is a cancer that occurs far too often in sports these days. Some schools have even had to institute a "Quit Clause" in their student handbook. In it, it states that if a student 'makes' a team and participates in any contest and then decides to quit during the season, they forfeit their next season of sport. Example: if a basketball player quits on his football team, then he automatically forfeits his eligibility for basketball. I'll give Coach Tip credit though just for trying.
Finchamp: Just checked out Delahooke's stats on Maxpreps from this weekends game with Brentwood. Here's what he had
1 carry 4 yards
1 reception 28 yards
6 tackles
6 punts for 261 yards, with a long of 64 yards (DANG!!!)
2 punts inside the 20
5 kickoffs with 3 touchbacks
5/5 on PAT's
1 28 Field Goal in Overtime to give his team the win.
Sounds like the boy was busy too!
Watch out for South Pas, they are fired up about Friday's game. It's gonna be a good one. I like San Marino, but Im gonna have to say SP all the way.
Minuteman Fan--
You guys sure are persistent. Who would you replace in the SN top ten? And do you think Maranatha should be there in front of Poly? RH Prep got moved down a notch to #9 after handling Flintridge while LaSalle moved ahead of RHP after a bye week--so go figure. No sour grapes at RHP however.
Fred and Minuteman Fan
Now that the athlete of the week issue has moved aside I have a last comment or two. Minuteman Fan I lobbied for Delahooke's inclusion, however how do his stats compare to what RHP's #34 did on Saturday against Flintridge? 17 carries for 133 yds., one touchdown, one field goal, 4 extra points, 4 tackles and 2 QB sacks in 2 1/2 quarters of football.
I think the Spartans will win this week against Blair. However I think Blair's coach has they most difficult job in the area. Can you imagine trying to teach the Blair kids to believe in themseleves again? I for one wish him the best of luck and admire his effort because it would be awesome to see Blair get off the mat next year and be a factor in the RHL.
Their is nothing I dislike more than a kid who quits football. Wait maybe the parents of the kid who quit should take the blame. Anyway you slice it, football in not a game for quitters and either is life. Quit in football and the next step is to quit in the classroom and then you quit on your family and friends and we all know where that leads.
Look their a reason La Canada only has 12 seniors and that's because it's just not a rewarding experience anymore. However La Canada is one of the unique schools that actually encourages this type of coaching, in fact the live by it with the exception of Basketball.
Bruin Eagle #4 and TongvaAlumni06 are gonna be surprised when the Knights come to town... see, we NEVER lose to both eagles in the same year... and c'mon, you lost to rosemead and we didn't.
Big M, I prefer to say that Calpreps agreed with me ... except for two of course.
Fred...
I noticed that you went with the CalPreps line on your picks this week... except for Muir and San Marino (both 1pt spreads... really pick'ems).
I'm with you this week... even your Muir and SM upsets... we'll have to wait for next week for a tie-breaker.
Fred i like your decision with La Salle winning, a no brainer. but calpreps 35-28?? what? Please people Mo-Town vs TC isnt going to be a game, Monrovia will destroy TC 45-0... maybe Tc will score a TD but thats bout it. There is no way TC can match the speed of Monrovia. SHEEEEEET, that albert arnold is probably as fast as anyone on TC!
KM
Excellent picks. Agree 100%.
Chaminade 32-21
Burroughs 42-21
Arcadia 28-24 (undisciplined mustang team will give the game away)
(!!S i g h. . .!!)....(Sigh)
La Canada 41-14
St Francis 21-7
South Pasadena 14-12
Montebello 35-0
Monrovia 45-42
Gabrielino 21-21 @4Q (overtime will decide...)
La Salle 10-3
Harvard Westlake 49-0
Alhambra 38-0 (Fred you must have had some inside info on Keppel....you sure this aint a joke???)
Rosemead 31-10
Campbell Hall 30-0
Pas.Poly 24-21
Rio Hondo Prep 28-7
Loyal Tiger, Bruin Eagle, we switched it back. Just wanted to see who's paying attention :)
Theres gotta be a reason why both you and campa chose keppel over alhambra.
I think we'd all love to hear it!
Keppel over Alhambra? Really Fred?
Gabrielino has to beat Arroyo to keep their playoff hopes alive. I feel an upset in the making...Good luck eagles. Oh yeah SG shut out again.
Nice to see the writers and Cal Preps predicting Maranatha, I still though, keep wondering what it will take to get us into the Star News top 10 - O.K. our pre-season is weak, but we are undefeated in league play, and post better records then several in the poll. Do we need to move to a different league (think Prep League) to gain some respect? Our record may not then be so stellar, but tougher competition makes for better teams, and more press, would that, and lights so we can play on Fridays like the big boys do the trick? - just wondering...Thanks too for the honorable mention for Kyle Delahooke as athlete of the week - well deserved.
