SATURDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK ...
THE STAGE BELONGS TO LA SALLE AND MARANATHA
Historic night for both Pasadena Schools, which advance to semifinals for first time in school history.
Sad night for Rio Hondo League, Muir, Alhambra and Pasadena Poly.

FRIDAY'S QUARTERFINAL RESULTS
La Salle 35, Monrovia 28 (Lancers deserve to take a bow; Monrovia spoils what should have been a championship season.
Verbum Dei 50, Temple City 13 (The Camino Real, not the Rio Hondo, is the class of the Mid-Valley Division)
Duarte 41, Santa Clara 38 (Keep going Duarte, your story is just as remarkable as La Salle).
Maranatha 52, Salesian 6 (Still in shock by the final score. The Minutemen proved they can win a big one.)
Colony 42, Muir 7 (Couldn't dance on the edge forever)
Notre Dame 55, Pasadena Poly 22 (I hope this means Notre Dame beats 'SC tomorrow.)

As an Administrator and Head Coach at Temple City I am deeply concerned about the postings regarding vandalism. If anyone on this blog has specific information I would like you to contact me at 626-548-5160 so that we may follow up on it. To date, we have not been contacted by anyone from La Salle's coaching staff or Administration regarding these alleged incidents.
Despite the opinion that some of you have formed about Temple City via postings on this blog, we do not condone, nor accept this type of behavior from any of our students, much less my football players. I welcome any of your comments or concerns at the above listed contact number as I take the perception of my school and team very seriously.
Regarding crowd issues at home games, I will forward these concerns to our Athletic Director and my Administrative colleagues.

Re. Maranatha and Matt Schilz: I'm hoping that the previous comment made about Matt Schilz (that he hasn't had to work for anything in life)was an allusion to his natural athletic talent and not a monetary jab at him or his family (Out of line and has no bearing on the situation.) From what I've seen Kyle Delahooke is used every play, every down. Whether that means running behind him at TE, throwing to him at WR, running with him at RB, whatever...Kyle offers to go wherever the team needs him. God forbid anything happen to Matt tonight, Kyle is the backup.
GOOD LUCK DUARTE!!!! PLAY WITH INTENSITY AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL,
HAVE FUN, HAVE FUN, HAVE FUN...........

When schilz tears up a defense like monrovia's tell me
Fred, Schilz has a better arm, slightly. Where we lose is the ability to run, think quick and rally. Schilz is a young sophmore with the mentality of one who has not had to work for much in life. He'll mature in time but given his young age his attitude affects the others, they RESPECT Alex. They'll play for the team but again, they recognize the difference in leadership. Coach Murphy does an incredible job with the players out there and is a great role model. I hope the school appreciates him. I hope they win, and I hope Brentwood doesnt force the rush. On another note we have not been able to utilize Kyle Delahooke often enough. That kid can do anything and the team counts on him big time.
They burnt a portion of our track, and our baseball dugout, and they also paintballed our weightroom and School logo with green paintballs.
just out of curiosity, how did TC vandalize la salle???
Tri-Tip Sandwiches? I should be going to La Salle games more often
Muddy Waters, I can verify that TC did vandalize La Salle after their loss. "Classless" seems to be the name of that school's Alma Mater. Unfortunately we don't have anyone from the heyday of TC on this blog to put the rest of these punks in place, but so be it. We definitely invite you to Lancer Field this Friday night for some Tri-tip sandwiches and what should be a great ball game.
Go Lancers!
A few words?
Pasadena: You have 2 great football teams still playing! Grats to both Maranatha and La Salle. Now get out this Friday night and see one of these two teams play. Fred, give them the press. They earned it.
Monrovia: Congrats on a great season. You had a great team, an awesome run, and fought like warriors. Unfortunately, someone has to win and someone has to lose. Now, get over the loss and come back next season. Don’t cry about calls and blame ref’s. You never should have put yourself in a position to loose a game of that magnitude on a couple calls. You had a fantastic run and should be proud of your players/coaches.
Temple City: Overrated overachievers that were over hyped. I have been to a few of TC’s games this year and I am embarrassed by many of their fan’s treatment of visiting families. TC students throwing “F bombs at cheering visiting families with 6 year-old kids in tow doesn’t make you a man. It makes you the backside of a donkey and looks poorly on TC High. Yes, I saw this on more than one occasion. TC’s Athletic Director needs to but a muzzle on their horde of students. Is there any truth to TC vandalizing La Salle after the loss? Based on what I saw in their stands it wouldn’t surprise me. I am glad you lost so that no other visiting families have to hear your rancor. Classless…
La Salle: I have been to a few of your games also. Granted, you played the toughest schedule out of all 3 leagues (CIFSS.org to verify), you have come a long way and turned your season around. You beat, at the time, an undefeated TC, beat Verbum Dei, and came back to avenge the spanking Monrovia gave you in the early season. You have a great team/coaches, play classy football, and bring an excitement to games rarely seen. You deserve the spoils of victory. So the “Dream Continues another week. Whatever happens Friday under the lights, don’t dampen the magic by lowering yourself to some of the classless postings on this board. Now go get two more wins and a ring.!
Maranatha: Keep the Minutemen marching forward and bring home a Championship! I have also had an opportunity to see a couple of your games. Great team/coaching, chemistry, and an opportunity to make school history. Well done lads. Friday brings another team and more challenges. Play Maranatha Football and you will find yourself in the championship game.
I double Lancer Videos comment. The parents and players at Verb are top notch. Always make you feel welcomed!
that guy you know,
Thanks for filling us in about the Verb-TC game. When La Salle went down to Verb last year for a Saturday afternoon game, the Verb people were very gracious. I am glad to hear that the facility they play their night home games is first class.
Good luck to Duarte, let's make it a all SGV final with the Falcons and Lancers playing for Mid Valley bragging rights.
A. Campa;
I have beed a BEARS fan since 1983, possibly before you were born. I am from Pasadena and all of my friends were RAMS or Raiders. But, I was a Walter Payton fan since '83. So that's when I decided to go with an outside team. I have been loyal to the BEARS since.
DAH BEARS !!!!!!
Let me guess, you must be a COWBOY fan?

In defense of the fine gentleman who hails from Tuscawooza, Louisibama; Traxius G. Baccanalia III, a.k.a. Traxbac. It's all in fun as he stated before. He got onto this blog around the same time the rest of the LS supporters discovered it (October). Like I said before, don't take yourselves seriously!
the real hsfbfan,
Good form.
Trabac, you have to realize that New York as been on this blog, actually Aram's, since May 2006, when it was first launched. If you been around, he has blogged nothing but great things about SGV football and he has great insight. He and I went at it during the week of and after the Monrovia v. Arcadia game but it was all in good taste, we are passionate about our football. I don't see the same passion about football in you. You seem just to come this site and create trouble.
Here's a quote for you since you are into them,"If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen."--unknown
Traxbac,
The fact that your most recent post made it onto the board proves the initial point you made: Fred does not screen for intelligence, relevance or class.
Good luck to you.
My previous post was deleted I guess...Sorry if it was over the line! I have to wonder how traxbac's comments remain...I will rephrase my comments minus my personal opinions one should seek!
Traxbac...As most posters realized, I am a Lancer..red, white and blue! I "CHEER" for my school with class and pride! BTW...as far as my gender...FEMALE! I/we would really apperciate it, if you didn't "use your freedom of speech" to make us Lancers look so moronic! La Salle High is a class act! Please don't feel the need to "help" us out with your posts supporting La Salle...We don't need nor want your "kind".
(Musical interlude: um dat dat dat um dat dat dat um dat dat dat um dat dat dat)
Peekin’ through the knothole in Grampa’s wooden leg,
who will milk the cow win I’m gone…..
Let me put my banjo down for a minute to address my favorite little pick-a-ninny New York. Why, son, if you gonna play wid the big dawgs ya gonna have to develop a per-so-nal-ity. Even a slight per-so-na would enhance your Q-rating. I swear that the scoundrel Frederick J is more interested in ratings than to screen the dim-wits that are using this blog. Some people stand for lost causes, like the Republicans, the Democrats, and you the cadre (or antithesis of it) of fickle pickles: New York, hsfan aka (as knuckleheaded ashewantstobe), and my friend and bosom companion (because I don’t get out much) Philly B (who at night masquerades as Algonquin J. Calhoun, attorney at law).
I know that I am perpetually digressin’, but the very thought of someone assailing’ my good intentions (the road to hell is paved wid good intentions) just about wobbles my knees. I would like for one of you to singularly address me on the topics that I broach. Does that happen? Noooooooo! All I get is “you are ignorant, “you should be move off of this blog, “you are wacked. Just think how crazy the following people were perceived when they authored their main contribution to humans. Alexander Graham Bell (society:you mean people will be walkin’ around wid shells covering their ears while they are speaking to others miles away? “Alex, you are an idiot!), The Wright Brothers (society: “You mean you are going to put up a object that weights tons and it will stay in the air and people you ride in it? “You boys need to take a trip down to front street to see Miss Dixalou) and finally Thomas Edison (society: “Now let me get this straight, you are gonna make me stand there and ya gonna point a box at me and it well capture my image on a piece-a-paper?). The moral to the story is that you should never discount ideas simply because it didn’t come from you. Actually, that should go without sayin’, because you don’t have a clue…
Let the song continue.
Who’ll mend the knees in Grampa’s VBDs…
Pardon me boys, but a gotta git back to my song. What’s a southern gentleman to do?
New York, thanks for the props. We will work hard to continue the winning ways. Bishop Diego is next!
Gentlemen, and I do use the term loosely. This blog continues to be a great forum and entertaining to say the least.
Aka I played a lot of ball and always hit hard, is there another way? but always came clean, even to those that did not. It's called sportsmanship, something barely talked about in sports any more, but when I grew up it was as important as being the toughest dude on the field. Potts should have kept his emotions and elbows in check. In the end it cost his team an unnecessary penalty. That is all.
Anonymous put traxwac on front street. Maybe he doesnt go to la salle but he began to ride with them because they beat TC. Hate all you want on the RHL. Shoot I think some of us here hate it too, its the same teams almost every year, it almost gets boring after a while.(keyword almost) But again I thank anonymous for representing la salle with some dignity and class. I cant say that for alot of schools that blog here.
hsfan,
I respect you because you ride with arcadia to the end, and you've been here from the beginning(unlike amtrak) And I know where you stand when it comes to your team. Yeah I ripped at arcadia this year but thats because when I was in school they never wanted to play us, except for freshman, so to get the opportunity to see that game was cool. I hate to admit because we used to scrimmage la salle for so many years, but..... They are a good football team, of course im rooting for duarte this week(public over private baby) La salle's program is going to get better im sure of it( wow it hurt to type what i jus typed, but watever maybe next year)
Wait a minute! How can anyone pick on reality TV? Don't get me wrong, that crap they put on TV and call "reality" is anything but!!!
What I'm talkin' about is the only reality TV any of us has ever cared about--LIVE SPORTS, even repeats, classic games and more. That's as real as it will ever get. I love telling people I'm into reality TV--it's called SPORTS! I'd like to see a local cable group play a game of the week in the SGV every week during the season. Don't you think we'd have more reliable input from this group if those who could not attend a Monrovia game (for example)could watch them on TV? I'm guessing by the interest in this blog that many would be watching.
As much of a poser as Traxbac is, he will not dilute the appreciation I have gained this season for La Salle football. Hell, I think I, a die-hard Monrovia fan, have spoken more highly of La Salle football than that joke, Traxbac. He celebrates other's losses rather than La Salle's victories. A very telling sign of what he represents. A loss.
BTW, that William Do play would've made it 14-28, who knows what could've happened but obviously VD was already well ahead.
None the less it would've been nice to see what happened if TC had scored.
LancerVideo was asking how Verbum Dei was.
I was at the TC v VD game and let me tell you, they are for real. La Salle fans, I know you guys beat VD and congratulations for that, but this is a different team after being at that game as well. This team now has all of their starters back. They have way to much speed at the skilled positions and too much size in the trenches for anyone left in the Mid Valley division.
As far as the field, it was pristine. It was only the second time they used to field all season since they put down the new sod. The Verbum Dei folks were nice at the gates and I didn't have any problems with anybody.
Let me say it one more time, Verbum Dei is the real deal. Despite what many of you folks think on this board about Temple City they were the #1 seed and they got absolutley handled. The game was over on two plays for Temple City, going for it on 4th and one from the TC-38 and Broadnax's fumble in the redzone trying to tie the game at 7. After that a comeback was virtaully impossible.
There was one point in the game where TC's William Do was turned back going for it on 4th and less than one at the goal line. Everyone thought he got in, even the Verbum Dei players. I guess he got 35 of 36 inches though. When the officials spotted the ball VD's center picked up that ball and it was on the goal line. As far as TC going for it on 4th and 1 on their 38 on the first possession I think Mooney saw them on tape and KNEW they had to score early to gain momentum, because once VD got their momentum going there was really no stopping them.
Good Luck Duarte, I hope you guys can pull it out, I'm pulling for you guys.
BigM, i appreciate your candor on your blogs. For you to say, however, that the La Salle bloggers are acting any less graciously than others is erroneous! Sift back through earlier months of the blog (as I did) and you will find out why there is so
much "hyperbole". A number of Cats definitely came pretty close to flat-out calling La Salle crap etc, etc, based on the first meeting.
Now I don't speak for everyone that posts from La Salle, let alone El Cubano Loco. My observation? You don't want a bunch a $#!t talked in your ear after you lose a revenge match then don't call the other team out as a bunch of scrubs since you smoked them the first time.
As for Traxbac...Confederate Flag? Bitter? Don't take yourselves so seriously!!!!! That's some funny $#!t!!!!
yes my mtowners, the gatorade consistency is completely dependent on my arm muscle
Remember, I am a gentleman of the south, so you must read my communiqués in a voice (something a lil’ bit less than that of Yosemite Sam) of a southern gentleman…
I would like to thank the kind gentlemen, Crazyqube and Lancer Double8s. They do speak for all real Americans when mentioning the need to protect our precious freedom of speech. Why can’t I speak my mind on my passions: high school football, the elimination of “reality tv, and the treasured history of the antebellum south. I salute thee crazy and 8s (oops I think I unwittingly made a pun) for being a wealth of wisdom to all on this blog and in my case in particularly, an Amicus curiae. And Crazy, for anyone to suggest that you would bring a confederate flag into Compton, is ridiculous, and analogous to wearing gasoline underwear in hell. Hush my mouth, but I do detect a sense of jealousy from the closeted haters from Monrovia and TC. I would be a toad from Tennessee with ten tons of tasteless Mint Juleps to dispose of if I did not set the record straight. I am not a lover of the RHL, and that is because most of you are so outright uppity and despicable. I have a right to freedom of speech. If you can’t take it, then that’s tough tittie. If you just read between the lines you’ll find the humor in my posts.
…since we are clearing the air, I must admit that one of you indeed did peep my hold card, by comparing me to his son. I have to go do my homework now, because being in the 5th grade is tough. By the way, do you grownup people have jobs, and if you do does your boss (we still call them that in the south) know what you are up to; slinging invectives at a person of innocence.
Gentlemen of the RHL, you may now return to your regular vernacular; that of igno-speak…
Crazycube,
Tell me, what did you expect Potts to do? He did his job after a turnover. He's pissed off, it's football. It looked like a good hit to me. By the way, if that was my son, he would have scored, who cares about the hit. The refs blew that call.
You are okay, I just think that your buddy, Amtrac, gives LS fans a bad name.
Come on Smtforme open yours eyes, I think NY is giving you benefit the of the doubt here. Hey, mixing the gatorade pre-game does count. It's a team effort, you are only has strong has your weakest link, therefore mix it good so the powder doesn't float to the bottom. They will need it Friday night..no cramping up.
lol
"and I did more than you think, respect that"
Either you're a player, coach... or the equip guy... I was giving you the benefit of the doubt...
I did not hint to my identity in the program
that was purely your assumption
Again smtforme... you show little class...
And if you are a player... as you insinuate... you should be focused on B.Diego... last week is over for you.
YOU cant do anything to change it
and I did more than you think, respect that
and I'm sure YOU did not do anything for it.
and I'm sure YOU did not do anything for it.
35-28...can't do anything about that monrovia and tc fans
The worst part of this thread is that I've seen absolutely no grace by the victors... We (Monrovia) have been winning games all year... and I've been reading the posts after those wins... and I've yet to find the same level of vitriol that permiates this thread.
C'mon La Salle... be proud of your boys... but show some grace for ours... I guarantee you they deserve it.
hsfan our win against Monrovia was no gift. It was a hard fought well earned win. Potts hit was an elbow to the head, it is illegal. Maybe if the recepient was your son you would see it different, do not call it COOL!
While I am at it, do not come spouting on this blog with some mightier than thou attitude abouth the LS fans. Traxback can say what ever he wants as well as any one else in this blog including you.
Anthrax,
I am just so overwhelmed by your intelligent use of the dictionary. It is clear that you have spent a lot of time in that off-white (no, not ivory) hut (no, not tower) that most would refer to as a safety school.
Your bitterness only reinforces my earlier post that you have likely never been a winner, and unless you change your perspective never will be a winner.
Are you on the bottom of that crab bucket with that TC person from a couple weeks ago? Obviously.
ex-falcon this blog also finds me in a hotel far off from home. Your Falcons better be ready and prepared for the Eagles. Verbum Dei is a juggernaut, full of guys with speed and athletism. I feel you will do well, since you match up speed wise and also have your share of athletic talent. We LS fans are pulling for you and Maranatha. Good luck on Friday.
traxback can we get more cowbell!!!
No matter how crazy they are, and you know I am an expert it at CRAZY, you write some of the most entertaining blogs I have read all year. I look forward to reading them and the comments you generate afterwards! Man it's great! What am I going to do after football is over????
Philly B, M-Town, Observant Cat, New York, I like how you guys stick by your team. It's must be difficult to endure a lost like that...it's going to sting for a while. I can't believe Davis only had 12 carries, thats unreal for a CIF game, a star like that. He needed at least 20 touches. Arcadia and Monrovia should be good next year. I am a true arcadian through thick and thin, like you guys are true wildcats..I respect that. Guys, I am sorry that we jabbed at eachother early on in the year. I am a true fan who was just defending... But at least we can say we had fun unlike some of these La Salle fans that seem so bitter when they win. We would jab at eachother about the x's and o's. By the way, I really think highly of Potts. He's a cool cat. It was nice to see him put a lick on someone. Christmas came early for that La Salle kid that picked up the fumble. He froze before he took that shot. Not one attepmt to juke or something.
Traxbac, you came out of the wood works, my friend. Groupies are meant for boy bands not high school football teams. I just want to let you know that you don't fool anyone with your wanna be "Bill Nye the science guy" blogs.
HEY TC FANS WHERE ARE YOU?? too embarrased after your @$$ whooping? you deserve it!
im back!
kind of, im at a hotel in the lobby on the internet. temple city wow! what happened i was just talkin crap i didnt know that would happen. i guess that 12man does pay of. monrovia what going on over there i guess there were big headed and didnt pay attention to detail. thats probaly coaching and just plain being cocky. well duarte has a tought task this week we have to go to compton, and since monrovia is not in it no more. i gurentee there well be 1,000 to 2,000 thousand people in the duarte stand well congrat to lasalle, a tc guy where you at? dont know much about verbum dei but what i do know is that there blowing teams the hell out, so hopefully we can step that defence up and get the victory, i dont guarntee victory, but hopefully we can pull it
off.
PS PROUND TO BE A FALCON
New York,
I’m going to say this so even you can understand. There isn’t one once of any thing you have contributed to this blog that can be remotely considered intelligent. Comparing a discordant quote from a movie, and a bad one I may add, to that of the harmonious verbal rendering of a statesman of the highest order is nonsensical. If you want this discourse to continue, then please try to be more sesquipedalian.
…now that I think about it you cannot understand it.
Fred,
When you're right, you're right, and when you're wrong, well let's just say I was REALLY wrong! Not only did I say that we would beat Colony, but I predicted that the winner of (don't laugh too loud) Muir and Colton would win the Central title. I believe the combined score of Muir and Colton's losses was 95-32. OUCH!!! And Muir only scored 7 of those 32. DOUBLE OUCH!!!
Fred you were absolutely right on this one, unfortunately I didn't see it coming, for whatever reason. Yes, the suspensions hurt us, yes Younblood's and Owens' injury hurt us, yes the mistakes inside our own ten yard line hurt us, but in the end Colony was simply a better team. If we were fully stocked and loaded the game would have been much more competitive. It was close early on, in fact in the 2nd quarter when it was tied 7-7 and we intercepted the ball we looked to be in good shape. But then we get hit for a personal foul, which gave them the ball and the momentum back and when they drove downfield and scored you could see that Colony wasn't going to give the lead back. If both teams are healthy Colony wins 6 out of 10 times. BTW, Omar Bolden, #3, is a BEAST!!!
With all that said I would just like to congratulate our boys on a good season (9-3, not bad) and I still believe we are definitely the best team in the SGV.
Congratulations to all the schools in the SGV for an exciting year, and good luck to the Lancers and Falcons, who if I'm not mistaken both have Muir alumni as coordinators on thier respective teams.
Oh, and Fred thank you very much for this forum, it has truly been a boon for local prep sports. Much props, bro.
"It appears Mr. Ringo is an educated man. Now I really hate him!" --Doc Holliday, from the movie "Tombstone."
Cover-your-trax,
We can all come up with quotes. It appears that you not only live vicariously through the current Lancers (although I don't think you have ever declared that you are a Lancer fan), but you also live vicariously through other people who have actually done something.
Do you have any original thought? Come on, John Nash, are you still working on your original thought?
Filly Bee,
If you’re going to put the word BUT in front of everything you say, you’re going to sound like a motorboat…but-but-but-but-but-but-kaput.
…and you are most incorrect about the cheeseburger, I could not get to the refreshment stand because of the HEAVYWEIGHTS from Monrovia blocking the way.
Will you join me in song Mister B…My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the……….
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. Ignorance may deride it. But in the end, there it is.
- Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill
As I previously stated the Potts penalty call was not related to taunting. It was for throwing an elbow. After looking at the video tape it didn't appear he hit the L S defender but the REF's threw a flag. I don't know if the ref thought he hit the L S defender or just reacted to Potts throwing the elbow. I don't think this penalty actually won the game for L S but it definitely helped L S. From the 2 tapes I have seen of the game Potts could have merely pushed the L S runner out of bounds, the elbow was not necessary. During a game you have to think when you play if in fact an elbow was thrown that was illegal and the REF's threw a penalty. I don't necessarily agree with the rule book but the rules are the rules.
THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN?????? TRAXBAC YOU ARE ALONE AND IGNORANT ON THAT. I SURE YOU STILL HAVE YOUR CONFEDERATE FLAG AT YOUR HOUSE. I ALREADY KNOW WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE WHEN YOU SAY S***LIKE THAT
First I have to congradulate la salle on winning last friday night. I can with confidence that you have the second best offensive line in the area, and I dont care what anyone says on that, I just give credit where its due. Those guys did a good job on defense for the most part and wasnt afraid of monrovia's quick speed. Now saying all that and assuming that somehow Duarte gets past Verbum dei and you take care of Bishop Diego, I hope you get yours like we got ours. I couldnt have put it better Fred with that b*lls*** call on potts for making a touchdown saving hit on the guy that was gonna take it to the house. I mean I didnt know you couldnt stare at someone after making a tackle that saved a touchdown. Mind you that monrovia made way too many mistakes on offense, Our defense couldnt crableg to take away la salle's run game. But you guys all mean to tell me because the quarterback of all people can't MAKE A TACKLE AND SHOW SOME EMOTION. WAS HE SUPPOSE TO JUST DIVE FOR THE GUYS LEGS AND LET HIM SCORE. POTTS MAKING THAT HIT SHOWED LA SALLE THAT IT WASNT GONNA BE THAT EASY THAT NIGHT AND IT WASNT. Let me say again so no one gets it confused that did NOT give the game to La salle but it helped a bit. There was a another call that had Garrison going crazy, I think it was on defense but their was a few bad calls no matter what and just like when the muir fans were mad about the B.S. calls at the burbank game? We were mad too. Im not a Garrison fan either but him and mooney are the most consistent no matter what anyone says. But that swing past was killing our defense it was like please throw there our entire defense is somewhere else so please go ahead and throw their its wide open. We also should of stayed commited to the run because we had la salle on the mis direction and pitches to the field side. This was a tough loss to swallow because we had the game and we let it go to with all the turnovers. Good luck to la salle in the semi finals thats all I have to say on that. I think that la salle is a good rival. I guess you can call it a+b+c. To explain to traxbac so he understands: We beat la salle early in the season, they went on to beat T.C. then T.C. beat us, and then la salle beat us in the playoffs, I think that goes to what someone said early in the season that it doesnt matter in the previous weeks and anyone can beat you on any given night. Note I said it was gonna be a close game, I was hoping for the win though.
Lancerdouble8's
your right about one thing TC people love to stare but can do nothing else. Its so funny because when you stare back waiting for them to say something, they just put their heads down cuz they know they dont want any problems with us. Not to say we're thugs at monrovia but we'll do just as much walk as talk and best believe we have jokes. But no one from TC should be talking after they got man-handled by Verbum. from what I hear that team is like a mini-muir. I mean at least our game was an actual game, and we can admit that we lost and not say "oh Davis got banged up and he missed a few plays" or "We lost because of the refs man..." so on and so on. Thats the difference between monrovia and TC. We have class and admit it when we lose to another team. So you really cant say s*** TC1 or should be TCnone cuz you got knocked out just like we did.
Traxbac,
New York hit it. Its like you never won before or something. For once can you show some class and win with pride for your school. Im sure you were the guy at practice that did alot of s*** talkin at practice but never got any playing time, maybe you didnt even make the team, but I bet you made a great cheerleader, but I bet you were getting cheeseburgers when la salle was losing. But when they we're winning you didn't put that cheeseburger down oh no. I bet you kept it in your hand and multi- tasked and cheered with your mouth full. I mean like new york said, no one took la salle seriously at an 0-5 record. Your loyalty is a joke and when la salle goes in a slump, not saying they will but I know you will be no where to be found, I'd bet all my money. There's a difference between being a true fan to your school and giving props to other local schools, Then your classless approach: Ride with the team when they're winning and diss the other teams Cuz you feel your team is the best. I feel like im typing to a kid. You are a joke and you need to go play with the kids on your block and Im through with you, make sure not out too late, im sure your curfue is what..... 6pm. sorry bout the long blog but I had alot on my mind if you couldnt tell. GOOD LUCK FALCONS YOUR ALL THATS LEFT NOW.
TC1 (Tough Crap to the first power),
I hope this is not the TC running back formerly know as, Mr. Nicknacks…or something or other. Please get into our dimension and realize that TC’s butt was whupped like they stole something from Verb (and I don’t mean whipped, but whupped).
Why is observantcat picking on that nice confederate gentleman, 88s. I have know him since he was knee-high to a pup and there is not a more decent human being this side of the Mason-Dixon line. Why I used to hunt squirrels with his dear pappy, General Beauregard, but I had to stop because of those gall-dern cowbells he use to ring all the time. So Mr. Stevie Wonder feline I think you were referring to me and not the good mister cube. Rest your nerves, son, and get back to your tiddlywinks game and leave us folks with a reasonable amount of intelligence to talk sports on Frederick J’s good ole’ southern blog.
88, you are breaking my heart being so chummy with that Yankee scoundrel, New York. Your great-great grand pappy, may he rest is peace is likely turning over in his grave. The south will rise again. Glory be to General Lee and Ward Connelly…
Bulldawg- PHS,
You aren't the only Bears fan on this blog. After about 15 mediocre to bad years, it's nice to cheer for a winner.
NY,
That Barrow story on ESPN was exceptional. It's just amazing that even though the creation of the football team was an incalculable boon to the citizens of Barrow (economically, emotionally, pyschologically, etc.) the HS administrators are still debating whether to continue the football program.
Congratulation Duarte. You boys have done an incredible job. Your coaches have you guys well prepared. We are rooting for you guys in the semifinals. We will be there to encourage you.
GO FALCON PRIDE.
Congratulation Duarte. You boys have done an incredible job. Your coaches have you guys well prepared. We are rooting for you guys in the semifinals. We will be there to encourage you.
GO FALCON PRIDE.
Big Week for our 2 local small schools - and it saddens me to see the ridiculous comments from the La Salle neighbors about the lights. Let the kids have their Friday nights - they have worked hard for the right. They should have known what they were in for when they bought near a school. I would rather see kids at a Friday night game than running around doing God knows what. That said - I am happy to see that the Maranatha light situation should not pose the same problems. Good Luck to La Salle - on the football field - not the basketball court - and of course Go Minutemen! To echo an earlier post - congrats to Coach Murphy and Cantrell before him - but let us not forget Doug Barnett before them- who taught Murphy the ins and outs and remains a Murphy supporter even in defeat (Bakersfield Christian.)
I agree with LancerVideo.
Fred,
I nominate Matt Kohorst, QB from La Salle for Athlete of the Week. He was rock solid against Monrovia.
Bulldog,
Not sure. It came on out here at about 1am.
This town, Barrow, is apparently the northern most town in the US. They say it snows there EVERY day of the year. Visiting teams have to fly in and be guaranteed of an armed guard...on polar bear watch! The field was all dirt, but those kids loved playing their first game. They fielded a team of 44, and only 4 of those kids had ever played football.
Yo NewYork;
When is the next showing of the Barrow HS story from ESPN? It sounds interesting!!!
Bulldawg-PHS
Big-A;
Wassup mang? I totally agree with the Star News BLOG. This was a great idea for people to chat and discuss HIGH SCHOOL football. I have been follwing HS football since 1988 when I graduated from PHS. This is the next best thing of not having an NFL team. Even though Im a CHI Bears fan. Anyhow, keep up the BLOG and great comments from your part.
Go USC. Go BEARS!
Bulldawg-PHS
traxbak you sooo crazy...LOL
we need more cowbell!!!!
And Phillipes for a Double Dip.
Yes, TC fans and Mass-holes are defeinitely cut from a similar cloth...hahaha. (I have a good friend from Concord, MA). We used to refer to them as "TC Tough Guys". I've never seen people who love to stare down people more in my life.
TC1 illustrates just how intellectually profound they are. Word of advice your TC1; stay off the blog kid. TC can rematch, but you should pick a sport you can win at. Gutless bravado, maybe? (I know it's not hoops because your guys scrimmaged ours on Tuesday night and you got balled up).
Westley Riley demonstrated what the Lancers are all about on Friday night by stalking James Davis from about 20 yards away on a breakaway run. Monrovia still scored but the Lancer's weren't going to give it away, or give up. He also broke up some key passes. Not to mention he's probably one of the top 3 fastest dudes in the MVC.
I got to say, an online blog is perfect for you TC1, you don't have to look anyone in the eye while you suffer from your severe case of verbal and mental diarrhea.
I'm watching an amazing story on ESPN about Barrow High School in Alaska. They started a high school football team this year in order to basically save the teens in that town. Great story.
TC1 why are you bagging on La Salle? You guys lost to Verbum Dei by 40 on Friday. It doesn't matter what you do in the regular season, it comes down to who performs in the playoffs and La Salle and Verb did, so shut up with that LS is garbage because you guys just lost by 40 to a team that LS beat and don't forget LS beat TC too.
Addictive is right.
Crazy, I hope you also stop by 9th & Figeuroa once in a while for a steak from The Pantry.
NY, Dodger Blue and Laker Purple.
The Peanut Gallery just woke up, he must of have just come to after the VB bus running over him!
Wah, wah, blah, blah, blah, that's response enough for you.
Fred, I agree with NY and BigA. This is a great forum for local high school sports. It certainly has been fun! all the trash talk from the TC bloggers, The M-Bloggers, Minutemen, stag thang, ex-falcon,and the irrefutable traxback, all of us championing our teams and fave players. never thought it would be this much fun and addictive.
la salle is no good. tc will b glad to rematch netime newhere. u guys r garb. stop tlkn about how u beat mtown and start thinking about bishop. we smashed on mtown. NO1 CARES! neone could have gotten past filmore. note to coach: you're a smart man. westley riley sucks. thank god he doesnt play. neone who would like to respond please do so.
Observantcat, where do you think I grew up? Pasadena or Monrovia, I did not have it quite that good growing up.To borrow the words from Marvin: "I came up hard". I lived in a chincy apartment in the SE and played City Football in the Eastern League :Gardfield, Jefferson, Jordan, Washington, Roosevelt, Huntignton Park, Bell and South Gate. Those were the teams we played. No San Marino, South Pasadena or La Cananda. No Confederate Flag. Let's keep the racist comments in check.
Big A,
Even though our teams have been eliminated, I still love football season. Let's support the local teams who are still fighting. Even though I have a bitter taste in my mouth from the way my team went out, I would still prefer the titles to come home to the SGV.
Next season will be great when it gets here. However, we have to endure the long off-season (baseball, basketball, etc...). Let's savor the good football that will be played the next couple weeks and talk about next season and individual accolades once all the action is over.
88,
Good to know. I too am a Dodger fan (if I'm watching baseball). I would probably rather watch a pee-wee football game than go to the World Series.
Only thing worse than TC fans are those Mass-holes who route for the BoSox.
We're Dodger Blue over here NY, I think he just likes the phrase. Besides, the Bean Sox did not make up that phrase. Crazycube is more a fan of Spaghetti westerns than of the BoSox or baseball for that matter.
Cubana,
Please don't tell me that a guy who lives down in LA is a Red Sox fan (Cowboy UP???) HAHAHA. Well, your boyz are playing like the Patriots so it makes sense.
I cannot wait for next football season. Fred, you are a genius for putting this blog up. I think you put a new forum about the All-area players for everyone to post about. I would like to hear from BigMLOver, New York, Bulldawg - PHS, trojanator and many more. Basically all the guys who have been on here since the beginning. It's become an interesting site. I bet many of us have had this blog become a daily routine which has obviously made it excited.
Fred: The lights are coming and should be in place for next season. Since it's in our C U P we won't have the problems that LA Salle is having with their neighbors.
Exactly right NY, I don't mean to use the term "undisciplined" in a manner to suggest that M-Town's players are lacking in character. I use it only in the football sense of word; penalties, blown assignments, turnovers, etc. Good idea to clear up exactly what we mean, at least I mean, when I say undiscplined.
To my fellow bloggers:
The passion you show towards high school football is unbelievable. I was just checking out the Whittier Daily blog site to see what they’re saying about Whittier Christian and under the last blog, “area teams advancing there’re like 6 post. Where is this one? Over 160 posts.
Now onto the reason I’m posting this. With the excitement you have for the game there’re two Pasadena area schools left in the playoffs. Go out Friday night and support either Maranatha or La Salle. I’ll speak for the Maranatha faithful but we’d love to have your backing at Clark Field in Long Beach. Hey, we may not be Division I or II and not as big, strong, fast or have the depth but we play some pretty exciting football. So if you have nothing better to do Friday night, pony up your $8.00 and get behind one of the remaining schools.
Regards
New York as always a classy act.
What my nephew Double 8 referred to was the amount of dissarray in your huddle. As the game wore on it became more evident. Players were arguing and yelling at each other after plays and untypically for a Monrovia team, committed numerous penalties, fumbles and interceptions. It's good to play with passion but there is a fine line where emotions can hurt instead of help. The team must show discipline under such circumstances to gather it self and cowboy up.
Tom, your probably right, but I would like to see lights there in the future.
Obsrvantcat, all I hear from you is whinning. All season long you have been talking smack about Monrovia, well now is our time!
We beat your beloved Wildcats, fair and square if you want to talk about hits, ask your Wildcats about the Lancers!
You and the rest of your crew have been spouting on this blog, about the athletic prowess of the Monrovia players and how this player and that player were going to run up and light up the scoreboard, the ones who lit up the scoreboard 35-28 was La Salle. So be a man about it and take the heat! No one is looking in the rear view mirror, just enjoying this moment and yes, gloating a bit. I am surprised you calling any one out on racism, do not be so ignorant, it's obvious you don't know what you are talking about.
By the way where is my one large and did you get enough of my cowbell?
Fred: I really don't want to get ahead of things but I doubt temp lights and bleachers would do it. If we get by Brentwood then I would assume the game would be at PCC or San Marino HS
In the other coin flip, La Salle would be at home against Duarte, and on the road against Verbum Dei. Duarte would be at home against Bishop Diego.
I hope Duarte has the speed to play with Verbum Dei, that would be a great final against La Salle.
88,
You have been pretty classy and level-headed the entire season. (The only slip up is when you recently used your uncle's computer to post and forgot to clear his pen name). Computer memories can be annoying and useful at the same time. Your little brother is sure having a great season, though.
The point I was trying to get across was that we were not really that excited to have beaten you guys the first time, and I'm sure we would have taken it in stride if we had beaten you last Friday.
I think I mentioned/admitted recently that this season has forced me to acknowledge the quality of La Salle's football program. The loss Friday should reinforce to Coach Garrison, his staff and the underclassmen that La Salle is for real. However, I don't think any of us TRULY beleived it until we lost. I compare it to the years that Northwestern won the Big 10. The heavyweights just didn't take them COMPLETELY seriously until it was too late. TC probably overlooked you guys as well. Why not, you were 0-5 at the time. Hell, I think a lot of teams in the NFL overlooked the Patriots during their first title run. La Salle, at this point, actually reminds me a lot of that Patriots team.
Regarding the "undisciplined Monrovia players": I just want to make it clear to everybody that this term "undisciplined" is getting thrown around too much. I want to remind everybody that the Monrovia players are not disciplinary cases. I hope the references to undisciplined are targeting what appear to be assignment errors, poor technique and being out of position to make a play, not in reference to character, because these are good kids. Players do what they are trained to do. A lot of football is muscle memory. That is why Vince Lombardi used to drill his guys (professionals) repeatedly. Sharpen the toolkit, right?
Watching the post-game interviews was very telling. The LS Quarterback was so happy. The LS coach was so proud of his players. You could tell that they are a very close group. That's the way football should be.
Tom S, I'm sure some of those influential Maranatha alums can talk the Rose Bowl people into it. Or, can they haul in temporary lights and more bleachers, that would be perfect.
Matt Schilz has done a really good job coming off the bench for the Minutemen. Of course, I've seen Kyle Delahooke come off the bench and do the same, in a crunch. I think it says a lot about Maranatha's program that one of several guys can step in as QB and keep it going.
Still, I wouldn't compare Schilz to Alex Clash. Give him a year or two. Alex is definitely the leader, quick, smart player with good judgement and not replacable just yet.
Hats off to Murphy and previously to Cantrell, who foster a program that allows all of the players to grow and build the confidence to step in and excel, for God's glory!
Go Minutemen!
Well NY, you haven't heard for the past 2 months how "impossible" it would be to beat a certain team in the playoffs should you have to play this "certain, most superior" team again. So the reverb you hear is actually just an echo bouncing back from all of the mess that was talked by Monrovia fans earlier on how weak, athletically inferior, and certainly beatable the Lancers were.
In fact, I wanted to Copy and Paste a little collage of past Monrovia posts regarding how much better than La Salle they are, but it would have ended up being about 25 paragaraphs long. I do suppose that it was just business as usual, however.
Temple City fans,
How about comments about the Verbum Dei game? How was the field and experience at Compton Centennial, what was the reasons for the high scoring by VD, how about the VD defense?
When La Salle beat them, we know that they were a very explosive team, and can light up the scoreboard against anybody. The quarterback can get downfield in a hurry.
Again, this new Mid Valley Division is going to be great for WSGV football for years. The electricity in the air at Monrovia on Friday was "hair-standing-on-end".
Monrovia has a class program, and I am glad that they are on the Lancer schedule next year.
It's really somewhat flattering that you all are so excited to have beaten Monrovia.
When we win, it is just business as usual. We don't sit here looking in the rear view mirror, talking about all the flaws we exploited. Welcome to the Winners' Circle.
Hey Fred: I see final round coin flips for the host school have been done and Maranatha has an automatic for both Whittier Christian and St. Margaret’s. Think the city will let us use the Rose Bowl? :-) Ya, right.
Observant, I believe you are referring to my post which was mistakenly labeled as Crazycube's.
Shame on you for trying to label me a racist. Why? What about my observation could be construed (or in your case miscontstrued) as racist? Monrovia was undisciplined, more mistakes and more penalties. Not to mention the many mistakes in their defensive secondary. I've been to games in Compton and I definitely don't roll with a "Confederate Flag". Not to mention that I'm a minority myself.
Save your hard talk for someone who'd be scared, because I most definitley am not scared of you. I don't smell a rat..just sour grapes.
It's nice to see more and more Minuteman Fans coming on board the blog. The future does look bright for us with some many Juniors and underclassmen on the squad - and with the Seniors we have this year we will prevail against Brentwood - because the kids have worked hard and they, and Coach Murphy, deserve it. go Minutemen!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Minutemen! Matt Schilz did lead the comeback vs Brentwood. This year Alpha League teams are strong. Brentwood and Whittier Christian both have many seniors. Maranatha has more juniors. That's very good for the future. Will be a good tough game and close. Brentwood played a strong non-league schedule. But the Minutemen will prevail. We have outstanding leadership.
hey how bout them lancers?
i heard they had practice on saturday to prepare for bishop diego. and monrovia practiced to prepare for... OH WAIT, MONROVIA IS DONE!
what a great game that was.
gitr done la salle
Crazycube I see you wear the confederate flag. Let's see you go to Compton and defend it against Verbum Dei. Lets see who really All American you are. You seem to know the Social ansewers to all questions, the weakness of other teams, give us your score of your next week semi's with Bishop Diego. Until then, since you can only be found smelling like a dead RAT on this Blog, I would lower your intensity otherwise you could get caught in your own trap.
Jim B and Orangeandblue,
Jim, you summed it perfectly. The Times is never going to out-cover a local paper on local teams. There's almost no point in trying, especially when things keep getting cut back.
I do think the Times' prep guys do a fantastic job of covering the big things going on in HS sports. They can't tackle every issue, so they tackle the very biggest and do it well.
Jim, isn't this the whole dilemma at the Times right now? They aren't a very good local paper and they're not stacking up well to others as a national paper.
It's kind of an in-between thing right now. I don't know what its niche is.
I know that Fred and I have heard nothing but good things about the PSN's and Trib's preps coverage this year. But, if you look at only the print content, nothing has changed. Every improvement has been made on our blank check, i.e. the Web sites.
Finally, traxbac, you are blogging about the x's and o's and not about some GE class that you took from Caltech. I wouldn't call monrovia's secondary slow, but undisciplined, yes. If you saw the highlight video, #4 & #6 ran into eachother on the play that la salle tied the score 14-14. It looked like monrovia was in a cover 1 which means #4 and #6 were playing man or a soft man defense. It appeared that they did not sort them out as to who has who if they switch off the line or delayed, i don't know, but it's crazy how they both covered the same dude. It looked like they weren't coached up for a situation like that or the kids were undisciplined, like you indicated.
La Salle proved that fundmentals, falling back on your techinque, provides dividends when it's all said and done-- no matter how athletic you are.
High school fan about your comment, well put, amen.
Traxback, you enjoy firing everyone up, don't you?
....Is the Notre Dame game over with? Can I turn my television back on?
Hey Jim, only the Bruins can save us now.
Every year it seems I get up for Muir and events like this week happen (14 kids out due to academics) and not only in football. It is not the government's fault - it is the parents and the community's fault. I feel sorry for the kids at Muir who worked hard BOTH on and off the field with good parents or parent or no parents. For the ones who were kicked off the team, it is on them and their families (no one else)- not the government - and as long as we keep blaming the government for these ills nothing will change. I don't trust those from the outside who push that it is the government's fault. I think that they enjoy our falling down and they know as long as we can point the finger at someone else (which they encourage) and not take responsibility for ourselves that things for us won't get better and in fact will get worse. I got news for all of us the government isn't coming (and who would want them anyway - name something (anything)the goverenment has improved). So let's do for ourselves and take responsibility for and ownership of our kids. In doing so we can finally change things for the better and Muir will be able get beyond the first round of the playoffs.
Jim B.
I know it is not you - just ventinting. I said the same thing to Dwyer and Simers when they played in my club's golf tournamnet - they said they were frustrated too.
Also, did you see the letters in this Sat. LA Times - the one that said - "in the near future the Times sports page will read - THE BLANK TEAM WINS SUPER BOWL - for details see www.LATIMES.COM." So I am not the only one who has this view or notices. I know that they can't put all the prep info in the paper but they could cover some of the games - like they did in the past(especially the big ones or where there is a local Unversity angle) and they could use a ton more coverage in the actual paper of the local pro teams and the local Universities. No one wants to see a second calendar section where they have stories about the writer who wrote some small independent film. The only one who reads that story is the writer and his mother - even his father doesn't want to read it (he wants to read about sports). I know the Times wants to "own" the entertainment news business and business news in LA but as long as there is Variety, the Hollywood Reporter and the Wall Street journal - that isn't going to happen.
USC all over ND. UCLA is next!!!! SOrry Fred.
Great punt-return Desmond.
That was the spark of the first qrt.

Dear Anxtraxxx
Based on all of your statements from your last statement, it is well known that you just completed PSYCH 1A or 101 at some community college.
Is sad to see people like you who just took some basic psych class to utilize your newly learned thoughts onto the BLOG. Lets be original and not copy from some basic text book. Be more creative with thoughts and give credit to the proper sources when you make statements that are most likely invalid coming from you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bulldawg-PHS '88
Hey New York,
Armtrax is very funny. You have to narrow your percentages because I only spoke against the RHL, not every school in the division.
Now, we have heard from Simon Le hsfan. You truly believe that the government is not responsible for the problems at Muir. Your naivety concerning the history of blacks in America and the system that is stacked against them is atrocious. It’s easy to say you should pull yourself up from your own bootstraps, but if you don’t have boots then that act is rather difficult. But, enough of the social commentary, let’s get back to you. I am Shakespeare like you are Albert Schweitzer, or maybe Albert Einstein, or maybe Fat Albert. You want x’s and o’s…do you really want x’s and o’s…well… Monrovia was undisciplined and could not put out of their minds that what happened in the first game was an aberration. Jimenez dominated all personnel that lined up against him. Korhorst was inspired by the previous game. Bury (who by the way hails from M-town) was more determine to beat the local team. And, as so many suggested, La Salle paid off the refs and hired people to attend the game to cheer like crazy (no offense crazyqube). Monrovia’s defensive secondary was exposed as slow and (here is that word again) undisciplined. The coach did not have confidence in his team’s chances and stated it in the paper. Unfortunately, he did not realize that his players were more literate than he gave them credit for. They read his comments and believed them and that led to a self fulfilling prophesy. Sorry, no John Madden analysis, the coach from Monrovia said it all; “we didn’t play error free football. Case closed!
Traxbac, I am not a monrovia fan or La Salle fan, but please think before you blog again. Let the monrovia fans be. Stop with your Shakespeare wanna be blogs. Your blogs have nothing to do with the x’s and o’s. Get back to your science project or get back to your dorm room at Caltech.
Stang fan, dude, don't blame the government or your lack of funding thereof for Muir losing or being a so called black school. Muir is probably more hispanic that black now. If you are going to blame anyone, blame the PARENTS of the kids for not taking action when their kids were failing in school. Money doesn't by love... there's no price tag.
orangeandblue,
you are preaching to the choir when it comes to prep stuff getting into the pages of the Times. as a former prep editor, i'm in your corner. unfortunately, our space has been so drastically cut over the last two years that the powers that be have had to make some tough decisions. i mean, we don't even travel with the kings and ducks anymore, our college football and basketball roundups are nothing like they used to be, and because the Times covers the entire region, rather than just certain areas of the Southland, it's clear that local papers will kick our butt every day of the week when it comes to local high school coverage. why do you think i'm on this blog in the first place :-) in my view, the Times would rather do the big things (i.e. major pro and college sports) better than anyone else and let the rest take care of itself. I live in the SG Valley and still enjoy keeping up with what's going on locally on the high school scene and I know I won't get it from the Times because they are trying to keep track of 560 schools instead of 30 or 40. even fred will tell you, that merely keeping up on everything that's going on in his area is next to impossible. it's just an unfortunate trend that isn't going to change. like you said, be glad for the Star-News, the Tribune, the Daily News, the OC Register, etc. For the volume of stories the Times could be churning out every day, we'd need 20 pages to do it, so online is the only option other than ignoring things completely. hope this helps answer things, although again remember that i'm on your side :-)
crap we lost..comes to show what happens when ur school is underfunded and gov. looks away at mino.. at black dominated school. any way..nice job la salle, uguys proved me wrong.. hope u go all the way.
Sorry Fred as I said or tried to say only one fluke Notre Dame win per weekend. You and Jim B. will be disappointed again next Sat. afternoon.
Jim B. - what in the world does it take to get the prep stories and for that matter all the sports stories for the LA Times in the actual paper and not just on-line. I really don't get it and no one I knows does - I am about to cancel my subscription - tell the elitists that run your paper that men and some women mainly buy the paper for the sports and if the stories are only on-line there is no reason to buy the paper -DUH. On line is for blogging. Is it any surprise that the subscriptions are down 8-9% year over year? Thank God for the Pasadena Star News.
armtrax,
You remind me of a typical pseudo-intellectual. You are probably a recent La Salle grad (no offence to La Salle) who is attending some saftey school (no offence to other people at that school, although they have to see you on a daily basis) and you have clearly never tasted victory, personally, which is why you are living vicariously through the hard work of guys like Jimenez and his crew. Your parents should request a refund of your La Salle tuition. You clearly have no class and your deductive reasoning is dense. Not that I know for sure, but I'm pretty sure a La Salle person used the name USA, as in Red, White and Blue (your colors). In La Salle's defense, though, they can't help everybody (you). So go back to your world of flipped up collars and prep school mullets. Leave the La Salle representation to Augi and Cubana. They at least carry themselves as if "they have been there before," and their lineage is currently dominating.
Oh yeah, I do recall you mouthing off several weeks ago when La Salle was 0-5, saying that no RHL team would be the champion... Way to go out on a limb. By going with the other 13/16 teams, or 81.3% of the playoff bracket, you really proved your worth as a prognosticator...The other part is that at that time you never backed La Salle as team that would go all the way. I suppose you had not yet "chosen a winning team" at that time. You were too busy playing the odds of who would not make it. Whatever.
Fred: I don’t think we’ve had so much fun since “Ally to the All? or something like that a few weeks ago.
I appreciate your sentiments ObservantFeline, but the act of obtaining victory is spelled winning, not wining. Wining (as in Wining and dining, not whining) is reserved for a portion of what we are offering next year to the sad victims of the Monrovia debacle.
Come on Fred. Who is this person? Are you paying him or her for these remarks to spice things up? If so, congratulations to you. If not then I’ll continue to read Traxbac’s posts and laugh out loud and my wife will wonder what’s going on.
Do not talk about your mother in that tone, boy.
Traxbac, you sound like a Bitch.....no ones wining...The game is over dont turn this into anything personal or you might just find yourself getting blasted by your own home town fans. Quit while you are ahead. Get to the next game so that you wont have to blog anymore.
Why Tom S., you are a gentleman and a scholar. You remind me of Rufus T. Firefly. Now I know you don’t speak for the scoundrels of duplicitous nature that harangued me for my thoughts. Sir, I’m indebted to you. I have now added a new allegiance to Maranatha, like Freedonia, the land of the brave and free.
Dude, you’re cracking me up. Did anyone on here every say you’re ignorant or stupid, that would be an attack on you, and I would defend you in that situation. There’s nothing wrong with being a passionate fan as long as we respect others. Let’s celebrate the local Pasadena teams who are going to the semi’s and rally behind them.
Oh and by the way
GO MINUTEMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You must read the following with the “Battle Hymn of the Republic in your ears, hearts and minds:
Fifteen score and six years ago (or around that time, give or take a few scores; not to mention the La Salle, Monrovia score) our forefathers of this land decided that we shall have freedom of speech. I am sure they could not visualize the blog, but self-expression is as self-expression does. Now, we have met on the great battlefield, to determine if my team or any team will long endure. We can celebrate (with the winners), we can commiserate (with the loser), we can give thanks to the Pasadena Star News for this opportunity to herald the new beginning of fan participation in high school sports. To everyone that makes this possible, I salute you. And, my friends I maybe many things, but I’m not ignorant or stupid. I’m just a fan of football or this blog. I say, is anything wrong with that?
And Traxbac: I just missed a touchdown that USC just scored but that's ok. We're exchanging ideas and that's what America is all about.
And
GO USC
Oh Traxbac: Give me a break. You have the right “ri-ats as you like to say but not to attack other bloggers. As I said before this is a blog site to exchange ideas, feelings, and passions but not to harass others. As far as I’m concerned post you’re thoughts but keep your hatred to yourself. And yes, “we can all just get along as long as we respect each other.
It's fool's remark, not “fools remark, Tom. I have jus’ as much ri-ats (that’s southern for rights) to this blog as any udder good American. I have a team, a passion for the sport, and the right to defend against those who would take these ri-ats from me. Tom S., don’t try to repeat history with the ignoring of the rights of others…Can we all…just get along?
Traxbac: Get out of here.
Man, you're showing your stupidity. This is a friendly place to post remarks and as far as I’m concerned you’ve cross the line
Fred, delete this fools remark
Usa (masquerading as something patriotic),
Usa messin’ with my knowledge…usa thinkin’ you a smart…usa know nothin’.
I maybe ignorant, but after reading a book or two I’ll be alright…you my friend are stupid and you will be stupid for the rest of your life…If you can’t pick a winnin’ high school football team, then don’t try to stop the celebration of those who can…I know wit is not a trait indigenous to those two RHL high schools that went down in a blaze of glory last night, but if you listen you may learn somethin’...Oops, I forgot like your teams, you are incapable of learnin’ from the mistakes of others…calling me ignorant…why sir (I hope that gender designation is correct) you have impugned my honor…I reckon I’ll leave ya with this…To be ignorant of one’s ignorance is the malady of the ignorant. Amos Bronson Alcott
Are you listenin’ Usa?
My congrats to Riley Saxon for a great season at TC. Great job on leadership and motivation. Your QB coach Matt did a great JOB!

traxbac...obviously you have NO CLASS! It's so unfortunate your flagrant ignorant comments are associated with La Salle. I don't know if you are a has been jock or never had enough ability to even play but keep your low life trash talking to your self and quit embarassing yourself and the real players and students at La Salle.
Fred - I knew that you were a good guy - and I am liking you more and more with our mutual love for Notre Dame and UCLA - I am looking for 2 tickets for next Saturday to watch the Bruins play spoiler - any leads for me?
Riley:
I have known your family for a long time - you are a class act and you have made them proud. Congratulations on your great season - and good luck with your pursuit of a career in journalism.
You speak the truth Fred about all the things we have in common! Hahaha
Now that Hart has beaten St. Bonnies, can the coaches of the Simi Valley stop whining about St. Bonnies and Oaks. Ch. winning every year. Well at least about St. Bonnie's. They probabaly want our divisions to match TX. ...and when will Cali really join the frey with a true state playoff system, not this BCS like thing they currently have after the Section playoffs.
Riley, thanks for the comments, and congratulations on a great senior year. You were the Rams' Mr. Clutch. I still call you Big Pass Saxon around the office.
Good luck with your journalism career, and anything I can do to help, let me know. We're always looking for correspondents, so come see me next fall if you're interested. Love to have you.

Thanks Jim, for those who don't know, Jim B is Jim Barrero, former prep sports editor here at the Star-News. Jim is now at the L.A. Times, and is an avid follower of La Salle (his daughter was a pretty good soccer player there).
Jim and I share the important things in life, we love Prep sports, soccer, UCLA, and both want Notre Dame to win tonight.
Mr. Robledo,
I would just like to say thanks for all the hard work you put in for every football season and especially this one. As an aspiring sports journalist, I know all the hard work you go through and I, among others, appreciate it greatly. And even though our season didn’t go exactly as planned it was a great run and thanks for everything.
To the other bloggers,
I know “kids aren’t supposed to be posting on this blog and all, but I will say I enjoyed reading all your debates and put-downs and arguments and everything… and I look forward to joining in with you guys next year with my (best attempt at an) un-biased opinion about football and my Rams.
Much thanks,
Riley Saxon #4
And for the record… Verbum Dei is FAST!!!!... Duarte and Verb is going to be an awesome game.
Fred,
You are welcome for all the scores late last night. I got caught up in all the La Salle euphoria and figured your readers would appreciate it. You guys do a great job by the way. Makes we wish we had this techonology back in my prep editor days. Keep it up!
How come no one ever talks about schurr? they dominated early in the almont league and their the only team in the semis. GO SCHURR, SHOW THEM THE ALMONT LEAGUE CAN COMPETE

Fan,
You bring up a good point: incredibly poor fundamentals all the way around, mental and physical mistakes. Poorly executed screen, green jerseys not getting involved, Davis should have had two hands on the ball once the first tackler had him by the legs. Was it even a good call to run a screen? We clearly did not sharpen our tools and focus on little things, and LaSalle did. Give credit to LS for reinforcing fundamentals and staying cool under pressure. It hurts that Monrovia's season ended, but at least we lost to a good program. Boy does f'ng sting, though. It just brings back bad memories.
On the play that James Davis fumbled was caused by #68. He was wondering around on the screen play and the LB stuck Davis on the ball. He did not pick up a soul.
We Are The Minutemen.....

Everywhere We Go-O...

So, We Tell Them...
We Are The Minutemen..

This was the old school chant back in the late 70's/ early 80's. Not sure if they still do it. Anyhow, Congrats to the Red, White & Blue! As previously blogged...stellar game on both sides of the ball for Maranatha! With his charisma and animation...I think Coach Murphy is the Pete Carroll of High School Football. He'll make you dizzy watching him pace back and fort.
Now....let's go get Brentwood...again! Go Minutemen! And our thoughts are with Alex Clash. Before going down, he was having a tremendous game! Schliz is a good replacement, but doesn't possess Clash's speed. Clash is also a team leader. Without him next week will make it tough on us. Hope I'm wrong.
Borrowed from Cubana 11/21/06 10:40pm, "(traxbac), your ignorance is overshadowed only by your incompetence."
Well I’m back.
Fred, I too was very disappointed in the coverage of our game last night. Too bury it at the bottom of page 2 and have Muir’s defeat on page 1, I really don’t understand but oh well, we’re in the semi’s and they’re not, that’s the important thing,
Campa, I’ll look forward to your coverage of our semi final game in Long Beach against a tough Brentwood game. I already can’t wait but I’m sure the players can use some rest after all the scoring last night.
Shows how tough the Alpha league is this year, three of the four teams in the finals. Campa, looks like you’re already predicting Whittier Christian over St Margaret’s by your remark about “ESTEBEN CAMARILLO.
Interesting remark on the Clash, Schilz quarterback situation. I’ll have to give that some thought.
Crazyqube,
You not only get the cowbell, but the rest of the cow (to say nothing of the bull you are slinging). Is there any truth to the rumor that Observantcat and New York are one in the same person...like Michael and Latoya?
Mr. Campa - we will welcome you with open arms on Friday - and you make a good point - Matt Schilz has done a great job for us - we can only hope that Alex is healthy and Matt continues to perform as he has - 2 is always better than 1 - Go Minutemen!!!
New York regarding the personal foul after the fumble recovery. What the L S fans thought happened was an out-of-bounds hit, we couldn't actually see why it was called. If you look at the video carefully, the QB came over and didn't even attempt to tackle the L S defender, he came over took his ELBOW/FOREARM and knocked the player down. According to the rules a violation. The REFS called it not L S or it's fans. I'm not saying that stuff like that should be called just explaining the penalty the REFS called. Since I wasn't the referee I am only theorizing. The game itself was well played by both sides. I commend the Wildcats, coaches and players, on there season. It was an excellent game that could have gone either way.
Mr. Referee,
Isn't there a CIF sanction against noise making devices, specifically cowbells? I truly thought that they are for some reason allowed furing regular season but not during CIF play. I actually think that was enforced against Monrovia several years ago. Just food for thought while we are reading the rule book. Not that I really care. I think coaches and players should sack up and get after it.
Observantcat,
Man you truly need glasses. Regardless to any of the foolishness you wrote, the best team always wins. Now correct me if this is not true…the game was played at Marilyn Monrovia High school?...Who do you feel is more likely to get the calls. You stated and I quote “I think the refs sensed the emotion from LaSalle and began giving them breaks. But thats what you exepct in these parts of the woods. W M.M. high school’s QB attempted to hit the La Salle defender in the head with an elbow , but like his passes it too was off the mark. Wow, you bring whining to a new low. But, that’s what Marilyn Monrovia High School does best, from you to the mealy mouth coach, to the championship back for hire Jimmie D. Keep up your whining…nobody cares…you lose…game, set, and match…good night and good luck with your new sorely need vision care prescription…Tiddlywinks is awaiting you, but for now take some catnip and see ya next football season for whining and dinning at La Salle. Don’t worry; we’ll foot the bill, because I know times are tight in Monrovia after burning the ‘M’ lights on the hill hours before the game. But, as I was driving out of the parking lot they were extinguished, like the dreams of the whiny felines.
ObservantCat, are you really going to cry about the refs now? Are you really going to claim you are still the better team. Ask any high school, college, or pro coach, the BETTER team makes less mistakes. Monrovia is mistake prone and un-disciplined. After La Salle tied the game you could hear the 'Cats fighting in the huddle. The Pass Interference call was legit. That DB tugged on the receivers shoulder pad before the ball got there. Face the facts...
La Salle > Monrovia
(La Salle is GREATER than Monrovia)
Babb should have been academically ineligible last week vs. Orange. Report cards were distributed the week of the 13th with the same grades that kept him out of this week's game.
Apparently, the AP didn't know that failing over half of your classes makes you automatically ineligible, so he cleared Babb. The problem is, the head coach and the AD (who is also a coach) knew full well that it did make a player ineligible and said nothing until someone went to the AP and told him the rule. It will be interesting to see what the fallout will be, if any, but it seems Ruedeflores and the AD played Babb, knowing full well they shouldn't have.
Sorry Fred on fluke Notre Dame win per weekend _ Fight ON!
