Area's best girls basketball rivalry heats up before Christmas
ARROYO TOURNAMENT FINAL
Monrovia 53, La Canada 51
Gordon scores buzzer beater to defeat Spartans in early season showdown.

From La Canada coach Tamar Hill: "It is still early in the season, luckily, but we have a good team. We are really excited about facing them (Monrovia) later in the season."
From Monrovia coach Mike Wagner: "This game was huge for us. IIt gave us confidence and not just that we were able to beat La Canada, but that we can beat anyone in league. Our main goal was to come out and win this tournament. It was great to win, but we really hate that it had to come down to the end like it did."

This is a terrific little blog I can't believe I didn't stumble upon it earlier
To the last poster. Now the blogging should get better! Why just have to wait until Friday's to play a game. With basketball we can talk about games almost every day. The Rio Hondo girls league should be very interesting this season with Monrovia, La Canada and South Pasadena fighting it out for number 1. Monrovia started the battle out in front with their win over LC in the Arroyo Tournament championship game. I know LC is already looking for the first rematch and their place. But LC, don't look past South Pasadena, if you do you'll go into the first game with Monrovia with a loss. After speaking with Coach Wagner at Monrovia, I know he's not looking past South Pasadena. He will take one game at a time.
WOW!!
The BLOG is not fun anymore. Football season was fun on the blog. Oh well, until next season.
Good luck Eddie "Weasle" McKiernan-Monrovia HS varsity pitcher. Good luck on the draft.

Fred,
Did you you get any report about Maranatha boys Basketball from the Carpenteria Tournament last night? I saw in the paper Tuesday that they won their first game and I was told by a friend on Wednesday that they lost to a Div. 2 team the next night but I have not heard about last night. Do you have any info?
Thanks
FSHA Parent. The only reason you don't see FSHA girls basketball scores in the newspaper is because nobody from FSHA is calling them in. You'll notice we have FSHA girls soccer scores, because coaches call them in.
Why is it that you do not consistently post scores for FSHA girls basketball team. Considering that over half of the girls that attend FSHA reside in Pasadena and subscribe to the
Star-News it seems a disservice to your subscribers. They are not even ranked in the top ten! They compete in Division 2A, give them a little respect!!After having a slow start with a young team they are doing very well. They just upset the defending champs in the Providence Tournament by 24 points.
