Knights win Ralph Brandt tournament; only loss to powerful Santa Barbara.

THIS FROM THE KNIGHTS WEBSITE:
The Golden Knights captured the Ralph Brandt Tournament championship with a decisive 4-0 win over visiting Valencia. Junior Nick Posthuma was named tournament MVP and juniors Sean McGuinness, Patrick McCoy, Joey Franco, and Nick Swart were named to the all-tournament team for the 7-1 Knights.

Tologs coach Frank Pace shared these comments:
We controlled the run of play against Monrovia for most of the game. However, they wouldn't break. Credit to them. They are strong in the back and play with a championship swagger. They are similar to Westridge but probably a little more physical in the back and a little quicker up top. They resemble in a lot of ways several of the Mission League teams we play and great preparation for what we will encounter in league. We've missed Heather Riley the past two games. Having her back along with a healthy Sirah Alarcon will hopefully get the pop back into our offense. Defensively, with five consecutive shutouts we seem to have figured that part of the game out (for now).

Over the past 3 days St. Fracnis has played some difficult competition. They played the second best team in Arizona, Salino, and won 2-1. They lost in the Finals to argubly the best team in Arizona, a team with absolutly no class and was taking cheap shots at every player out there. So their record to date: 11-2

If someone has to constantly tell you how great they are they usually really aren't that great.

anonymous: the fact is that for the most part La Salle is a school full of rejects...but it is the number one "fallback school" for applicants to the top high schools in the area.

Wow, the war of words between John M and LaSalle is amazing, but the only reason a person has for being so negative about a program is that they have been rejected by the school in some way... Many people that have responded to this blog have been involved in soccer for many years, both girls and boys.. LaSalle girls do work very hard and most play on top club teams...so give them a break!

JohnM said:

lasalle: If you face Sacred Heart in that tournament and win you still have a second rate program and school.
Now go have a nice day.

Lasalle said:

HEY JohnM... If u knew anything you would no that Lasalle and FSHA are playing in the same tournament in Glendale next weekend so i think you need to get your fact straight.. becasue they will be facing eachother and i can assure you a Lasalle victory... you also might want to go visit wwww.studentsports.com Student Sports' FAB 50 national poll where FSHA is nowhere to be seen and lasalle beat 2 of the teams in the top 50.. Thank you have a nice day

JohnM said:

How many shills are there here for La Salle girl's soccer? You guys are D5 and there are six divisions! And whose rankings are you going by when you write about the nationally ranked teams they have beaten? I have seen three of the teams La Salle has beaten (Temple City, Duarte and La Canada) and they aren't much. And its easy to jump up and down about "taking it to Sacred Heart" but if you knew what you were talking about you would know that there is no chance La Salle will face Sacred Heart....D1 teams don't play D5 teams in the playoffs.
Please support your team but there is no need to try and sell them here. Some people know too much and won’t buy the bull.

I just returned from the Tri Valley Tourny up north where i witnessed Lasalle Beat the #7 team and #22 team in the nation there is no doubt that they are the best soccer team in the area and boast the best player in Casey Johnson USC bound. They outplayed there opponents and really didnt get beat until the last day by Mayfair 2-0 they deserve the #1 seed in the area and will have it after they take it to FSHA

I wonder what either of you consider a quality program...for a girl's soccer program in the SGV

Hi Fred,
An update from Day 2 of the Tri-Valley Classic for La Salle girls soccer. The Lancers played two games Thursday, beating Clovis, 2-0, and losing to Nolan Catholic of Texas, 1-0. Nolan also was ranked in Student Sports' FAB 50 national poll and it was La Salle's first loss of the season.

anon said:

Please tell the LaSalle parent (soccer10) that recruiting is illegal per CIF regulations.

Their team is having a nice season, no need to put it in jeopardy with your recruiting messages......

I know there has been a lot of talk about several girls soccer programs in past blogs, but as I said earlier, La Salle is the team to beat!!! Coach Lopez has taken individually talented girls and is molding them into a team. The football success is permeating the school (Girls golf won league also).

For all you parents that are looking for a school with service oriented kids, academic excellence and an outstanding sports program with superior coaches, look to La Salle.

Hi Fred,
La Salle girls played in the Tri-Valley Classic in Northern California today and defeated Monte Vista of Danville, 1-0, on a 74th-minute goal by sophomore Laura Hill. Monte Vista was ranked No. 6 in the nation, according to studentsports.com's Winter FAB 50. La Salle plays Thursday against Clovis from Fresno and Nolan Catholic from Texas, ranked No. 32 in the country. La Salle is now 6-0 but some tough games loom in this tournament and again next week in the tournament at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Hey Campa- Happy Holidays!

I'd have to give Burroughs the nod over Burbank in Boy's soccer. In Girls soccer it's definitely Burbank over Burroughs. The soccer rivalry between these schools might be more intense than football. The yellow cards will be flying when JBHS and BHS play-so anything can happen.

A. Campa said:

Burbank,

Nice to hear from you. I think you're right about PHS and Burbank in girls soccer. What about Burbank in boys soccer or Burroughs in either boys or girls soccer? I need my Western Pacific League update?
