yah i saw the lc boys basketball game vs. monrovia and im pretty sure monrovia was just as suprised as the rest of us that they won! but they earned it, LC got a little lazy and depended too much on malik making incredible plays--which he did anyway! but that next game LC will have to think more of it
Freddie,
I'm calling for RA to be ranked higher than La Canada this week. I saw RA play for the first time last week, and i dont see how LC can compete with them. I wouldnt be surprised to see RA beat PHS if they played.
Wow I bet that game was exciting as hell, I hate I missed that one. I knew the girls could pull it off. But the boys beat la canada at LCHS?????? You gotta be kidding. I honestly underestimated the boys team, because i mean la canada was ranked as one the area's top boys team and monrovia is not. Very surprising to read about the boys, I cant wait to see the game against them at MHS.
WOW! What a win for Monrovia. LC must have been eyeing that Perris game this weekend.
Anyone know where Ren Academy play there home games? They play Pac Hills tonight. Should be a good one.

several games to play before talk of any "sweep"...
keep the confidence guarded...
Congratulations to the Monrovia High School girls and boys varsity teams for a school first, with both teams beating La Canada at home for the first time ever on the same night. The Monrovia girls went into the game tied with LC at 4-0, held off a LC run and won in OT 54-49. If the Monrovia girls had hit a few more free throws the game would not have been close. The boys game was very exciting as well with Monrovia winning 57-50. La Canada's unbeaten streak in both the season and the league (over several years) came crashing down. I believe the Spartans were overlooking the Wildcats and they got biten. Both teams are now 4-1 in league. Should be a great end to the regular season on Feb. 8th, with the LadyCats going for a sweep and the Spartan boys looking to avenge an embarrasing loss.
The answer to your question of the week is Sid Cooke of Renaissance Academy. He has not been recognized at all for what he has done with that program. 7 years ago, he started a program because students at the school wanted to play a sport. In 5 years, they have cemented themselves as a Division 5 power making the Finals game the last 2 years. Now they are 17-1 beating quality upper division schools and placed 4 division higher than their enrollment suggests. However they end up this year, he should get much kudos for putting that school on the map.
SP is for sure the second best in RHL and could possibly be the best. against LC, SP was in it through 3 quarters and Malik had a big 4th quarter. SP lost by one to Monrovia and should have won. Tigers cruised through the two wins over blair and SM. for sure SP is no. 2 in RHL with potential to take the RHL title
