If you mean the Pasadena BULLDOGS, you are absolutely right. I am surprised and equally happy that we have a team like them in San Gabriel Valley. Usually, it is always about the City teams like Artesia,Mater dei, CH, Weschester. Now we can be proud to say The Bulldogs with Nigel, Trevon, Troy and others are truly outstanding players. GO BULLGODS for the State championship.
The Bullgods are the team the team to beat in the State.
yes thats a good word.. an embarassment
I think it's time to call the Blair sports program what it really is... an embarrassment.
Viking fan, there is a reason why practically the entire coaching staff has an annual turnover rate- the players. Which school ended last season's Star-News vs. Tribune boys basketball game? Which school had its girls volleyball coach suspended for forfeiting a game last season because the girls were too unruly? Do I have to even mention some of the shenanigans that have taken place over the years regarding the football team?
Blair has seen its share of talented coaches over the last few years - Kevin Mills and Ronnie Joseph- win at other schools. They left because of the total lack of discipline at Blair. So Viking fan, I have another question for you- Can Blair go one sports semester without an incident?
actually, viking fan, if u actually had ur eyes open, you would take note that not 1 player came off the sp bench, which is why they took the win. and no adult got into the scuffle, they were merely students at s.p. protecting their outnumbered TIGERS! tell ur blair kids to learn to play basketball, they disgraced the game period
any sanctions that come down on blair should also come down on south pasadena. their team also came off the bench. the band was hitting people with instruments. and yes, our players were wrong for coming off the bench, but no child should be attacked by a grown man, which did happen to one of our players.
Being at the SP vs Blair boys game and after reviewing the video several times, it is quite apparent that the only reason spectators from SP jumped in, is when almost all the players on Blair's bench cleared and overwhelmed the 5 SP players on the court. Blair players totally lack discipline and sanctions should be severe. One SP player that was on the court when the original scuffle occurred was just trying to separate players when one of Blair's bench player sucker punched him, knocking him to the ground. The SP player never saw it coming as his back was to the Blair bench player. This SP needed to seek medical attention after the incident with a mild concussion. With 15 Blair players to 5 SP players, and it should be noted that most of those 15 were NOT on the court to break things up but rather throw down, some of the spectators saw the need to try and help the SP players. I do not condone this action by the fans, but having to watch players that are friends or relatives that are just there to play basketball, get jumped and outnumbered, is hard to accept. This was probably the worst incident I've ever seen.
rio hondo watcher I was talking about the girls team. that fight was during the boys game. And it escalated to that point because some adult jumped into the mix when it was between the players involved in that particular play.
rio hondo watcher,
I dont understand first off how the boys can lose to TC at home but beat la canada at their house, it just doenst make sense to me. but as far as showboating, i doubt that but monrovia has confidence and thats probably what you saw. I hope the boys can win out which I'll agree will be hard as hell to beat la canada at home, I'll be at that game to see how both the girls and boys fan out
who saw the fight between so. pasadena and blair? blair obviously have no class.. they dont know how to play ball

rio hondo watcher....what do you mean the girls have no class? I'm going to take that personal since i'm the mother of one of the players (even if she is riding the bench this season). Our girls don't argue with refs, curse at other players on the court (which has been done to us by some of these "high profile" schools). Yes, their record isn't the greatest, but you try being on a team that's had 3 coaches in as many years. They haven't had the luxury of one coach building the program for years. They've had to adjust to different coaching styles each year.
Gods Word,
Tell me please, why Nigel Ajere from Pasadena has been playing with a tracking device ankle brace? Did he get in trouble?
Small School, Renaissance can play with anyone in this area, I pick them over La Canada and a game against Pasadena, especially next year, would be hotly contested. Will it happen, probably not. Now that PHS is in an eight-team league, it gives them little wiggle room for nonleague games.
How good of a chance does Renaissance have in Division 3A? Can they go all the way? That would be quite impressive if they were to win that division as a true division 5 school. Will we see a Renaissance versus Pasadena or La Canada matchup next year?
Nigel Ajere is such a high caliber player. Nigel Ajere is the one player to watch, enjoy and to beat. He remains at the highest standards of a what a high school player should stand for. I know this young man will be recruited and go far in his life. Good Luck Nigel. Remain Blessed in the Lord.

Basketball fan,
For Monrovia to get a share of the Rio Hondo League title, La Canada (22-2, 7-1) would have to lose out, South Pasadena (17-7, 5-2) would have to lose it's season finale to Temple City (11-13, 5-3), while Monrovia (11-11, 5-3) would have to win out, including knocking off La Canada in the last regular season game. That's pretty tough.
South Pasadena hosts La Canada for a share of the RHL title on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Right now, the Tigers are the only team with a decent chance of ripping the RHL title away from La Canada.
wow that means that la canada boys basketball pretty much sticks with first place unless they blow it against monrovia again
Congratulations to Temple City boys on an exciting come from behind win over Monrovia tonight. MHS blew a 14 point lead, mainly by not taking care of the ball, getting into a 3-point shooting contest with TC and showboating a little too much. Both teams hustled and played hard, but one team played smarter
In reference to the Blair poster wanting the girls team to get some recognition....are you serious? They go through pre-season with a soft schedule and then go 1-6 in league. Also, the team shows no class and doesn't deserve a spotlight.
Friday night boys basketball final score-
Temple City 64, Monrovia 62.
Temple City gets a game-winning 15-footer from David Chen to upset Monrovia, which blew a 15-point third quarter lead. It was a pretty wild game which not only knocks out Monrovia from the RHL title hunt, but locks them into a two-way tie for third place.
Since upsetting LC, Monrovia has gone 1-2.
I know that Blair's girl's team isn't in the running for the RHL title, but they're having a great season and it's disappointing to read the sports section every day and never see anything written about their games. Plus I think that Stephanie DeFrance deserves a spotlight article.

Even though my alma mater (Saint Francis) won't make the Top 10 at any point thi season, a shot out goes to the basketball team for their victory against hated Loyola on Monday night.
