maybe Kevan Walker didn't make all league because he was murdered by Burroughs. every single person is making comments about muir, pasadena, and arcadia. have you already forgotten that Burroughs beat all of these teams. the only team mentioned that didn't lose to JB is St. Francis, and they won by a field goal. Why don't you guys stop worrying about who didn't make the list and talk about who did. Keith Recchia and Kyle Budrick (Burroughs LBs) were flying all over the field, controlling a defense that gave up an average of less than 8 points a game in league. What about Joe Wiggan? This one year starter ran over (literally) every team in league. Nick Bryant did the same, both on offense and defense. Oh, and don't forget that the Pacific league teams had trouble holding on the ball this season. 3 JB players combined for five strips that they returned for touchdowns. John Burroughs kicked everyone to the curb. No one has given them the respect they deserve. Does everyone hate them that much. These kids are undersized (the largest player was a Sophmore who weight 300 pounds and was 2nd string). Nearly all the linemen weighed less than 200 pounds. None of the players were over 6'1". Screw Kevan Walker, what about Armando Lopez, David Eadler, Justin McKnight, Corey Howard, Jeff Evans, Shane Murphey, Lafeyette Blackmon, Matt Hernandez, and Pat McGlynn. Now thats a list of people who deserve to be on the All League List.

Coach 74,
The WWE is entertainment not sport. I am not into two grown men in tights playing grabby grabby with each other - not that there is anything wrong with that. To each his own.

Lets give wresting a little credit. Look @ the WWE, they have great careers and athletes!!!

ur worst knightmare,
The reason there are no articles about wrestling is because.......NO ONE CARES. BTW, who or what is an Arroyo?

Easy there buddy. Fred works his tail off to give us great coverage. Also, stop living in the past your HS days are over.

Prep FB Realist said:

I've agree with ur worst knightmare that Robledo doesn't know anything about wrestling though.

Prep FB Realist said:

Hey ur worst knightmare,

You want the paper to take wrestling seriously but then you go out and make completely ignorant and idiotic statements like "then maddy started recruiting" referring to Rosemead coach Louis Madrigal. Maybe you made the comment in jest, but that's a character attack as far as I'm concerned. Madrigal doesn't recruit. In fact, why don't you name somebody he's recruited since you know him so well. Arroyo wins one match, for the first time in years, and you want to throw a parade. It sure looks like Arroyo knows how to handle success.

maybe because arroyo sucks you nimwit. nobody really cares about them. so shut up

ARROYO WRESTLING PINS RIVAL ROSEMEAD 45-27 on panthers' home mats
Why are there zero articles written about this great wrestling rivalry in the MVL? Robledo and the other news writers were caught off guard...naming the panthers as one of the best wrestling teams in the valley...well the KNIGHTS knocked off Madrigal and his puny panthers.. I remember in the 90s when ARROYO owned the title for 7 years in a row... then maddy started recruiting... but if rosemead would have won, i bet i would have seen a big title and article in your paper...but ARROYO proved robledo wrong for the second time and thus he pretends to not even know about it...just like when he said that he would add ARROYO FOOTBALL to the list of teams he covers, but then the all-area teams come out and ARROYO is snubbed again! Can I have an explanation? Ahh, nevermind. I dont want one anyways, cuz I know whos got the title. Congratulations Vorobieff! GO ARROYO!

very true point...bailey was amazing at times..truly amazing...I still remember that chaminade game...he had 2 carries that were ridiculous...both were 70+ yard touchdowns..

the real hsfbfan said:

Walker is not 4.4 speed more like 4.6, with no true break away speed. Bailey that played for arcadia a few years back was a true 4.4.

Fred, I was just informed that AJ Jimenez from La Salle made the All CIF First Team and was hored as the Camino Real Defensive MVP, besides receiving Fisrt Team Honors. Where can this be substantiated? It does not show on Maxpreps or Rivals, nor the CIF site?

I just had to respond to your use of dominate against SF this past year. Another Apache player who dominated in a 24-0 shelacking the team took? C'mon. Walker obviously has size, speed and some talent, but he was far from dominate in that game. As was stated he didn't even play part of the game. Lets see what he does this year. He will get the opportunity to shine for his team, but will probably get dominated by SF again.

the st francis game walker dominated those corners, he just either dropped the pass or couldnt get the ball because ponce was rushed. But the st francis secondary was on their heels everytime walker would release into his routes and physically he out muscled the corners when they tried to press him. He does have some developing to do indeed but i think that he can be an outstanding player and a great player in college also. at 6'0 180 with about a 4.4 40, who wouldnt be good

apchefballfan said:

anon.

to make things straight against st francis walker did cramp up, then tried playing while cramping and eventually ended up pulling his quad. That's why he didnt play the 2nd half. And against muir yes he didnt catch a pass but ponce was horrible in that game and it was clear the the corners for muir were holding him right before he would run right past them every time. On defense he picked off mitchell at a critical point of the game so for you to say he didnt step up that game is premature. He also made a key open field tackle in the 2nd overtime which saved the game at least temporarily. Everybody has bad games here and there but to me it looked like he gave all he had game in and game out, along with the rest of the team. He is a definite positive pick up for the apaches and should dominate this upcoming season with his size and speed and with Willm and the O line coming back, it should be a good year

Anonymous said:

Big A,
Walker did not play tough enough against muir. Those corners at muir where studs. He could have caught many balls, but he did not catch one, especially the one before the half but he was looking at the ref for a PI call. Ponce threw 3 picks, but Walker could have caught two of them or knocked them down. St. Francis game he cramped up, not hurt, big difference, huh?

BigA said:

How can you even talk about the muir game? Arcadia QB Nick Ponce threw for 3-4 interceptions against Muir. St. Francis, walker got hurt in the 1st half as well.

Anonymous said:

Apachefan,

Kevan Walker still has alot to prove. He hasn't developed into a big play player, go to guy, on offense and defense yet. Look at the Muir & St. Francis game, he was shut down by their corners. On defense he covers well, but needs to develop his tackling ability. Monrovia did a good job exposing that. But, from what I seen, with his size and speed, he could be great.

I agree about Willim. He had 80+ tackles playing both corner and safety which is quite amazing. He should have received first team all-league.

crazyqube said:

Fred, who was Lineman of the Year for the Camino Real as well MVP's?

P Finchamp said:

apchefballfan,

All-League choices are strictly made by the league coaches. Where a player shines on both sides of the ball he gets considered for MVP honors. If he doesn't make MVP the coaches decide which side of the ball he gets the 1st team nod for.
Walker gets the nod for his D....

Some coaches lobby more than others--that's why you end up seeing 18 guys on an All-League team that should only have 11 players (12 counting a kicker or punter). Overall the selections are as they should be for the most part.

Anonymous said:

how about the 2nd team all league teams?

apchefballfan said:

how does armon binns or michael harrison make first team all pacific league and kevan walker doesn't? kevan walker was all area 1st team and he doesnt make all league for receiver. i know he was a shutdown corner and e got recognized for that but for him not to be 1st team receiver and armon binns or even 5'3 michael harrison to beat him out of it his unbeleiveable. And how does'nt eric willm make anything on this list he was a standout DB for arcadia this year and should've been first team.
