QUARTERBACKS IN 2007
St. Francis senior quarterback Luke Collis earned Star-News quarterback of the year honors, and with others graduating like Monrovia's David Potts, Muir's Lance MItchell, Temple City's Riley Saxon, South Pasadena's Michael Flynn, and Arcadia's Nick Ponce, who will be the man in 2007?

Top Six Fall Choices:
1. Tyron Crockom, Pasadena - Without a doubt the leading contender after throwing for 2,050 yards and 20 touchdowns to earn Star-News second team honors. And with Star-News first team receiver Michael Harrison back, there is no reason to believe the Bulldogs won't be airing it out all next season.
2. Austin Heyworth, St. Francis - The senior-to-be is expected to replace Luke Collis, and at 6-3 and 190 pounds, he has the size and frame you like in a high school quarterback. With super sophomore Dietrich Riley along with Kyle Wong and Kevin Garcia back at receivers, the next QB has all the pieces in place to shine.
3. Alex Clash or Matt Schiltz, Maranatha - Two fine quarterbacks, what a great problem to have. Clash led them early in the season before being injured, then Schiltz led them to a championship game. Coach Joel Murphy will have a tough time deciding between the two, and with RB Mark Love back, this offense should shine.
4. Chase Rettig, (So) or Ryan Doeppel (Sr), La Salle - Whoever replaces Matt Kohorst will probably do fine, because these are two good choices. Okay La Salle bloggers, who will it be?
5. Kevan Walker, Arcadia - Apaches coach Jon Dimalante has said that he is willing to try Walker - a WR/DB - at quaterback for his senior season. He is probably the most talented football player returning in 2007, so there is no reason to believe that with his football IQ (His dad is the def. coordinator at UCLA) he can make the transition.
6. Richard Kilbury, Monrovia - Kilbury will be a junior, and at 6-1 and 170 pounds, will have the tough task of replacing Potts, a three-year varsity starter. In a brief back-up role this season, Kilbury was 5-for-10 for 44 yards.

i have my own opinions, but i want to know what other people think about south pasadena. i think they will be tough to beat next year. a lot of potential. but dont be dicks. im looking for legit reviews.
There has been a pac ten school calling a Rio Hondo Coach for three weeks about one of his players and how this school may be interested in his player. Guess which coach wouldn't even return this coaches call?
I'm sure you all can guess the only coach in the Rio Hondo leauge who wouldn't even left the phone to call a coach back from the pac ten to help one of his players.

I just hope we don't try to make things too complicated. If a couple linemen are getting it done, what the hell is the matter with running their way a lot? Run to their side, run counters away, play-action pass off of it. Coach Mooney put together a clinic against us of doing just that.
Remember, playing physical football has more to do with attitude and dedication than it does with natural size.
Inside word is that a couple coaches from last year's Monrovia team moved up to the JC level.
Monrovia Insider,
Thanks for the great post about Monrovia. It doesn't look like monrovia is going to miss a beat. Hopefully, Kendall Boggs could get his stuff together and make a positive impact next year. What's going on with the coaching situation now? Garrison is losing key members of his staff.
I am very sorry for the multiple comments...My internet is wigging out,and when it finally turned back on it sent a bunch of them,im sorry.
New York,
I understand what you meen by not giving away to much but i dont think the hights and weights and some 40 times will do much damage. So here is what i know off-hand.:
Fernando Gonzalez-5'11"-173-He has been a threat for the past three years and if monrovia can get some one to throw to him then he will catch it.Relatively fast, strong and unbelievable hands.
Matt Calver-6'0"-200-Going to be a junior this year and started the majority of last year at Gaurd.Fast and strong.
Daro Johnson-6'2"-166-Only played varsity last year and was electric at the reciever position.Veryy fast,Great hands and fast forward-to-lateral movement.
Andrew King-5'8"-305-An agressive run stopper. He closes 2 two holes just getting off the ball.He started last year and should be a big part of the D-Line.
Neil Harris-6'3"-260-He is big, solid and strong. With a little more speed he would be an instant prospect.Possibly a huge part of the line this year. Most likely at tackle but I'd like to see him at tight end.
Patrick Greene-6'4"-181-A decent tight end.I could see him at wide reciever. Not a perfect run blocker but pretty good recieving at tight end.Relatively fast and some what strong.
Marquise Williams-6'2"-188-In my opinion I just think he is a little to big for Running back,he would probably be a pretty good reciever if he has the hands (i dont know). But a decent sophmore running back, could be better.
And those are the players I have been hearing about being threats to other teams. There are two dynamic duo's that are going to be huge threats to other teams.Such as, the biggest one, Daro Johnson and Fernando Gonzales.Probably the two best recievers in the RHL,so other teams would have to have 2 VERY good corners to cover them both.Because if they focus on one of them the other is wide open, guaranteed. The other Duo i can see is Matt Calver and Neil Harris. Both of them were explosive when they were and the same side of the line, pancaking people every other play.I would almost expect garrison to run to their side of the line the majority of the time but i know garrison and that probably wouldnt happen. But they are both key linemen that will most likely be a force for any team to reckon with.
If there are anymore questions about these players or others please ask.
P.S. about Kendal Boggs,I over heard players and coaches explaining how he is a glory hound and wants to be the one to get credit for everything which is why he almost walked off of the field DURING A GAME!He seems to be a cancer to the other players and that is something that this team does not need,so i advise that he gets a reality check or some help.

Whats the word with a new RB at Monrovia coming from Texas? Heard he is as big as Thompson, runs a 4.4 forty, and benches 285.
some of the boys a Verb this season could definately end up in the same spot as Udeze and Alex not only held his own but dominated. Also over the summer he proved himself in camps with some of the biggest and best linemen in the country. Finally he changed positions in the middle of the season and his team directly benefited from it.
Crazyqube,
Tavera from LS was a three year varsity starter for LS and played three positions in the east/west game. Tavera was the starting tackle at PCC when they were 2nd in the nation in 2001 with Nathan Candler and Johnthan Smith, but he suffered a knee injury and lost interest in football. If he kept playing, he could have played Pac-10 and started, but he probably likes his life as a Los Angeles firefighter now. He didn't receive as many honors as AJ did because his team sucked. The one thing I remember about him was he held his own against Kenechi Udeze from Verbum Dei, USC, Vikings when they played.
How does Monrovia look on the line of scrimmage??? I'm sure we will always have quality running backs. What about the guys in the trenches?
If Kendall Boggs works really hard in the off season he could be a potential threat in the backfield, but I see more promise coming from the two Freshman as they enter into their Sophemore year. Boggs could make a real difference on special teams with his speed.
Monrovia fans...How's Kendall Boggs doing? People were really high on him.
The wildcats have a Great future ahead of them talent wise. Next year will be their most questionable year after that it's all Wildcats. They may want to get a new Offensive coordinater and defensive backs coach. Ps. This Kilbury kid has a lot to prove to beat this young kid out at quarterback....it should be interesting.
monrovia has a great pair of freshman running backs. as sophmores they should get some touches.
Pete S.
I'm sorry about the Wheeler genius thing. I've had two boys play for him and I don't think there is a more challanged coach as far as football smarts goes than Wheeler.
I was only kidding about him being the Bill Walsh because he couldn't be any further away from that great coach if he live on Mars.
It was the worst years of sports in my boys life to play for him. It was horrible and no other word can describe it other than horrible.
Wheeler has no idea about football and he is coming back and I can't wait for other parents to have to go through what all of us had to endure this year.
It was and is going to be brutal. That's why Wheeler can ever get more than 12 seniors to come out for the Varsity football team. As much as these kids love football they just can't play for him. He actually keeps kids from playing the sport they love.
Nightmare.

Monrovia Insider,
I'm always curious to know more about my school. However, we don't want to give coach Mooney anymore intell. than he has already. That said, I am curious to have a bit more color on these guys: height, weight, 40 time (running), what they did last year and what they are doing this off-season.
Jim M.
What do you know that we don't? I would really like to know how Coach Wheeler is the Bill Walsh of La Canada. I've only seen a couple of games of his in the last couple seasons, seen him in passing leagues and sporatic practices...and to be honest...I've never really came away with thoughts of, "what a great QB they have", "what incredible coaching" or wow "I just witnessed something amazing!" He's a great coach, but what in the world are you talking about? Care to expand a little bit to help those who are just watching the band wagon go by? Thanks
Players in Monrovia to lookout for:
Fernando Gonalez-WR
Matt Calver-Line
Daro Johnson-WR
Andrew King-Defensive Line
Neil Harris-Line
Patrick Greene-TE
Marquise Williams-RB
These Players are 5 seniors and 2 Juniors for next year that should be stand out players in their respective positions...If theres any questions about any of them just ask.

OK this is my third try to get one of you to jump on the power house Quarterback High School Genius Coach Rich Wheeler band wagon. Let's just call La Canada High School Quarterback position a lock for 2007 and player of the year honors.
Whoever fills that spot will be trained under what some are calling a Genius as far as teh X's and O's go.
I'm sure their will be a line when registration comes around to get into the Spartans school just because of the Genius teaching they will receive while playing for the Bill Walsh of high school football.
Go Spartans!

There is no doubt that Chris was a heck of a lineman one of the best in the long list at La Salle:
Maust
Victor
Chow
Wiedeman
I do not think any one of them could have matched with AJ. He is a strong as any one of them, yet more mobile and athletic. A force on BOTH sides of the line. Good football sense. How many LS linemen have made All State, All CIF, All League, along with League Defensive MVP? I am not taking anything away from those guys, including Chris, who up to AJ in 2006 I would have agreed with you as being the over all best.
Any ways it is just my opinion.
crazycube,
Don't you think the best linemen in La Salle history was all cif chris tavera in 2000.
The big question mark for the 2007 Lancers will be their line. The graduating class decimates it. There are guys with size, but they need to show the grittiness/toughness of Quigley and Hilland and the athletism of Jimenez. It will be hard to fill those shoes. AJ Jimenez by far leaves his mark on Lancer history making the All State Team, All CIF, All League Defensive MVP as perhaps the best offensive/defensive lineman to suit up a La Salle. The 2006 La Salle Team lived a tremendous season and proved it's grit and talent as one of the best teams in the SGV and by far the best La Salle Football team ever.
I agree with crazyqube - Coach Gallagher prefers seniors, and I think Ryan Doeppel will get the start, with Chase Rettig backing him up. If Doeppel stumbles, then Rettig will play. He has great tools, which just need some fine tuning - needs to better avoid the sack, and be a bit more mobile on his feet(we have to remember, he is only 15). One year as back up will not hurt, as he will most likely be the starter his junior and senior year.
There is no doubt that chase rettig, FR at La Salle has the tools to become one the SGV all time greats at QB. I do not see him Doeppel has a bad season. Coach Gallagher is ususally pretty faithful to his seniors and I see Doepppel getting the nod.
Congratulation to all the SGV football players that have made hte All State Small School:
Lavelle Peterson
Sean Kelly
Jermaine Thomas
Mike Harris
Kyle Delahhoke
Brendan Hirschman
Edwin Ixta
Alex Jimenez
The young Jimenez has also walked away with All CIF First Tteam and Camino Real Defensive MVP Honors.
Lance Mitchell second team all state defense
Andrew Roxas third team all state offense

No wonder Arcadia struggled so much this year. With all this inner fighting we are seeing so long after the season you can only imagine how much they argued and fought each other during the actual season. Hopefully thats the only guy that feels that way cause you will never beat the Golden knights with players like that.
haha wow apache grad, i agree EARL why dont you man up and stop being a computer thug. you were probably a great cheerleader from the sideline who was jealous of walker and the rest of the people who played over you
apache grad, get out of the shadow of the internet and post your name and/or football number on the board so we all know who you are. or are you scared? bad mouth a TEAMMATE and hide behind the computer? if you are willing to say bold things you better be willing to be bold yourself. i just want to know who you are.
wow you guys are really harsh. i didnt get to see much of walker this year but for what i did see he is a pretty good athlete. what grad apache said i can't beleive would be true, and for him to be his "teammate" would have me questioning his loyalty to the team. walker form what i heard is not only a good player but an even better person and for his own teammates to bad mouth him behind his back is pretty harsh. i wish him and arcadia and every player the best for this upcomong season
wow grad apache, great teammate you were. im happy that kevin walker had the year he had to shut people up like you and the other haters on this blog. i am a good friend of his and seeing comments like yours make me sick. i mean come on pass protect? he's a receiver you dummy he CATCHES PASSES! and the block against glendale shows how "soft he is" where he takes out 2 kids for #22 to walk into the endzone. i cannot wait for my boy to have another breakout year, this time at QB and have you at home with your fat butt on the coach putting your foot in your mouth and realizing how dumb you are. great teammate you are
grad apache (and im pretty sure i know who u are)
i was on the team too and i guess you must of seen something different than the rest of the team. he is a very hard worker in practice and for you to say that he was soft across the middle, he has all of his catches against colton to back up that statement where he gets ROCKED about 3 times and still makes the catch along with all of the other 2-routes he ahs caught this year and paid the price for it. i actually do not remember him dropping any passes this year due to contact. i do remember his fumbles against colton (only fumble of the year) due to his dislocated shoulder that he was playing on, and you were on the sideline. and pass pro?? yeah he's a receiver buddy he doesnt pass pro hes the one making the catch. great knowledge of the game. if you did a better job protecting the QB this year then maybe he or your other teammates wouldve done more damage. so its a good thing you're graduating have fun at citrus or pcc or whatever lowtime CC you will be attending.and talk about overrated?! you might be the most overrated player in the league.....but as an apache i will not get into that because its apache pride and we are supposed to show love for one another, so tankfully you are leaving
Graduating Apache,
Any instances of proving what you said? 750+ yards and 4-5 touchdowns with a QB who threw for 1100 yards 10 TDs and 11 int's is a darn good receiver. Thats mean's he caught 70% of the QB's passes (yardage) and about 50% of his touchdowns. Scared or not he has some talent.
Apache boy:
Ouch! Either you're still bitter because Walker started over you or you're dealing with some serious inferiority issues. With teammates like you though who needs to play other teams. Glad to know that you'll be graduating and taking your cancer attitude with you.
Kevan Walker is really way overrated. He has his prominence because of who his dad is. He is nothing special in practice, kris robison is 10x better than he is. And talk about pass pro. he couldnt pass pro if his life depended on it. He's a very athletic kid, but haha as a quarterback!? no, we tried that for 3 downs against colton and he fumbled. He's scared of contact, and he wont even run the 2-route because he's scared of getting pummeled. Kevan Walker=OVERRATED

Big A,
Burbank will have a huge drop off as they will struggle next year with graduation, sort of like Arcadia this last year. But Burroughs will re-load with some studs coming back. A couple of o-line guys that blocked for Wiggan are 10th graders. Plus, there's talk about a good RB from the JV team.
I think that Monrovia will be fine, they have an upcoming freshman who will probably start all four years and become one of the valleys most sought after talents. He is only in the eighth grade but he will be a freshman next year and I honestly think that he would have shared good time this year with potts. Using him and the 2007 Freshman and JV players they will be a contender this year and the next three years are all theirs.
I remember the Monrovia game clearly. The linebackers had no idea what to do. Arcadia was starting a sophomore at strongside middle linebacker and Monrovia ran away from him every time. The defensive ends would come unblocked and miss James Davis and Sparks EVERY single time. The LB's would be blocked, with the DE free to make the play but couldn't.
The split backs that Monrovia used with a cross dive action with Sparks and Davis was lethal. The young linebackers would be drawn inside by the fake dive, only to see the ball coming back their way after the tackle had been blocking down onto them as they were already inside. Basically, the DE's were the ones who should've made the plays. A sophomore in his 2nd varsity game and a junior at the other inside linebacker shouldn't be responsible for that.
I guess we'll see how good Walker really is athletically. I think Walker is going to be almots EXACTLY like Potts of Monrovia his senior year. Decent passer but knows how to move around. Arcadia could be hard to stop offensively if Dimalante uses his cards right.
I don't know much about the other teams in the Pacific league. Burroughs and Burbank...who knows other than Burbanksports. M-town fans i'd like to hear from you on any upcoming players to watch out for. Same goes for Muir (qb situation). Any info on Pasadena? I think they will be one of the hardest teams to be in the Pacific league.
Thanks
How can you say walker couldn't tackle potts or davis...all of the 4 starting DBs for Arcadia that game had over 10 tackles each..It was the front 7 that just couldn't get the job done and that 30 yard run by Potts was a bad call on the refs because he clearly stepped out.
NY,
Yes, he'll have a good senior year. Good players always know what they need to work on. I was a bit harsh on the kid, but the central V is not so friendly.
Fan,
I missed the Arcadia game, by I have a copy of the DVD. Yeah, I mean Potts had so much potential. If he had been cut loose to gash the defense more often, well...
Walker looked like a ball player. I'm not gonna knock VA football. They play some pretty big ball down there too. It's not as if the West SGV is PAC-5 quality ball. I think Walker will have a great senior year. Look, he's not superman, right?
Goldknight,
Walker has to prove that he can cover the SF, Monrovia and Colton types of receivers or tackle big guys like James Davis & David Potts size. Guys that are big and physical. Yes, every team that played glendale, hoover, pasadena, bell gardens looked good. Let's not kid ourselves anymore.
New York, you were at the monrovia game. Potts blew by Walker on that 30 yard run that broke arcadia's back in the 4th. Wasn't it 3rd and very long? He was in the position to make the biggest play of the game but didn't want it. Also, Robert Linda at Burbank did the same things.
He's looks like a great leader and I believe with a year of California football under is belt, which is 10x tougher than the Virginia area he was from, I believe he can lead the apaches to the promise land. It's possible with the good staff at Arcadia.
I still can't believe I can't get any support for the fair minded, treat all kids from all walks of life equal, Rich Wheeler. He is by far the most intelligent football coach in the area. His brillance has show through time and time again.
He has compassion and loves to see all kids come out and play for him. As a matter of fact he just loves everybody. That is until you coach with him for a year and you figure out he really knows nothing about football and he fires you like he has to 32 assistant coaches in the last 8 years.
Back to the point, Wheeler is a genius when it comes to developing quarterbacks and other skilled positions.
I like to call him La Canada's Tom Landry.
My vote goes to any quarterback who comes to learn under the genius of Wheeler, oops I'm mean Tom.

All my early comments about Austin Heyworth and the rest of Golden Knights still stand the same but I thought everyone should see this
Kevon Walker 5'11 180
Second team all under class defense
Calhisports.com
Although I believe he got more attention because of who his dad is, this is still a very high honor no matter who you are because the people working that site flat out know their stuff. Hopefully he can throw a pass better than they say he can defend one.
ok, i have been reading these blogs for the past couple of days now and the talk on walker, heyworth, and riley are starting to get out of hand. i have seen all 3 play and heyworth is indeed a good player, but walker and riley are in a league of their own. riley is still young and will get better as the years go on, but also the same is said of walker. the comparision right now to walker and riley is not even close with walker being older/more experienced etc. but i think riley will be an amazing player also. but for u to say that riley is a better athelte than walker, is almost as dumb as hsfbfan saying arcadia will win 24 7...i think arcadia will win but it will be very tight.
and the comment made about walker "quitting" is ignorant. i was at the game and is very good friends with his father, and walker pulled his quad early in the 2nd, and still tried to play on it. and came back the next week and put up 110 against monrovia. he couldve done more against st francis but the talk about him being soft and what not is childish. remember these kids are 17 and under there is no reason to bad mouth them behind their backs. riley will be an animal his last 3 years but it will indeed be a challenege going against his older bro in arcadia this upcoming year..my prediction is arcadia 21 st francis 18
hsfbfan,
You're absolutely ridiculous... Arcadia 24, St. Francis 7. Yeah, I'll start to take your predictions seriously when you make them with your head and not your heart. Weren't you the same guy that a week after St. Francis walloped Arcadia 24-0 said that St. Francis would be scared to face Arcadia again in the season???? Weren't you the same guys who was still talking about the SCRIMMAGE win over TC during week 9 of the REGULAR SEASON???? Weren't you the same guy making excuses that you lost games because Kevin Hess was hurt one week, then Troy Ahmaz then Kris Robinson???
Will Arcadia beat St. Francis next season-- it's a possibility. But to say Heyworth "is not worthy to lead the knights to the playoffs" before the kid's taken a snap is dumb.
Oh by the way...I'll take Riley over Walker any day of the week, and I'm not even a St. Francis fan. Riley had one game with over 100 yards in four games played. Walker also had one 100 yard game but in ten chances.
What does W.A.R mean?
both schools need to get over themselves
You guys are missing the boat. With Rich Wheeler being the football genius he is I can't understand how any person in the blog being of sound mind and body can't pick any kid who is going to the football factory at La Canada to be the next best quarterback? How can this blog be so blind.
Old Wheeler is known for his x and o genius and I for one am shocked you guys don't get it.
My vote goes to the true football genius and that is whoever is lucky enough to get Wheeler next year.
W.A.R.

Ever since this blog was started the Maranatha faithful have been lobbying for respect. La Salle does not consider Maranatha a "rival", but a school across town where the LSHS kids know some of the MHS kids. The Maranatha fans keep referring to it as a "rivalry" probably due to their inferiority complex, or could it be because of a "Northern Ireland" mentality, that is, Protestants versus Catholics?
It looks like the Maranatha faithful (see "Maranatha Booster" below) have a lot more swagger in their walk, accusing La Salle of "chickening out" by not putting Maranatha on their schedule. Name calling is not a very Christian thing to do. La Salle plays real football teams, like Eagle Rock, Huntington Park, Monrovia, Temple City and Verbum Dei. Maranatha plays the California School for the Deaf, Twin Pines, Marshall, and prep league schools where footbal is a second priority. Step up and play some of the big boys, schedule some real competition, and then maybe La Salle will put you on their schedule once you have proven yourself. They would hate to embarass Maranatha, as both live in the same town.
BigA;
10-4 on your thought of Crockom. He may b a DB in college, right?

The word on Coach Murphy returning for Maranatha is that it seems very clear that he is coming back with his full staff of coaches. The team of coaches met with the booster club on Wednesday night and gave no indication that anyone will not be part of the coaching staff including Murphy..The Minutemen will also bring their game to Friday night Lights next year as they return with their entire line on both sides of the ball. Also returning are both QB's as you have read and Star Running Back Mark Love. It should be a great year next year. One more important note, I'm sure that Rival La Salle will "chicken out" and avoid putting us on their schedule again but i'm quite sure that Coach Murphy will keep the challenge on the table. Come on La Salle fans..talk to your coach and make it happen!!!!
Let's make it an All-Sport Rivalry!!
Golden Knight,
Don't count out Arcadia next year. There's tons of talnet coming back. The backfield should be tough to deal with...Golper, Picard, Amhaz and the line will be much better.
Arcadia has too much talnet in other districts and private schools, like Heyworth and others.
Big A,
I heard the same... sophomore Riley at SF is related to Walker.
Dawg,
Ok maybe I was wrong but I'm trying to think about this realistically. If Crockom grows, he will be even better. For some reason, I just doubt it. He is no doubt a monster quarterback for being 5'6. Great player. Hands down to him for tossing up 50+ yard balls on the run.
Gknights -
There are no excuses, did u happen to know riley is Walker's half brother? (supposedly) That will be a fun and exciting match up . Arcadia's team will be more experienced considering they had 3 retunring starts and a little over half their roster were juniors last year along with one sophomore.
wow... thats a big prediction hsfb fan. First off Heyworth is a much better athlete than you claim to know and will shred the Arcadia defense with his arms and legs. Secondly the golden knights have their top 4 receivers returning so austin can throw it to one of them or just lower his shoulder on big bad Walker or the rest of that soft defense. 3rd Deitrich Riley is going to show Walker what a real athlete is. lets just hope walker doesn't quit in the second half like last season so Arcadia fans can have more excuses why they still cannot beat the Golden Knights
24-0 was the score last year. heyworth will add on to the punishment. if you predict the score will be 24-7 arcadia, i predict you are a moron.
big e, big w, and any other big a-hole....heyworth is an ok player but he is not worthy to lead the knights to the playoffs. and for you saying arcadia is a joke....we will see this year with the walker/heyworth matchup who will come up victorious. everybody knows that heyworth doesnt even have 1/4 of walker's athletic ability and with walker playing on defense too, he'll probably pick off heyworth a couple of times too and hopefully lay a couple of big hits on him. my prediction....
arcadia 24 st francis 7
who will walker throw to?
sfhs92--
I hear you however the commentary was that Heyworth was going to do things well beyond what Collis accomplished. He may well exceed what Collis did but to say that "he will destroy everyone they play" makes one wonder why he didn't get a chance to conquer this year. Of course that comment was preceeded by "everyone that just wrote a comment sucks and is a moron." Well if the shoe fits...
coach
walker actually says that ucla is about 3rd on hs list of colleges right now
Finchamp,
In case you didnt notice the guy in front of Heyworth was the all area QB.
BIG W
You're making me laugh with thoughts of what the W stands for....
Look, if Heyworth is so damn good why didn't he get the nod at QB last year? Let's hope he does half as well as you suggest because the guy in front of him this year was far from a destroyer.
It will be interesting to see how Crockom does without Binns next season. I'm not sure he'll be able to put up those same stats.
BigA;
Monrovia's linemen will shock you on the upcoming season. Most of the starting line were juniors.
And there are some BIG sophomores coming in as well.
Stand-by.....
Dawg
BigA;
Where do you get your information regarding Crockom. 5'6 now, by next season he can grow a few inches and may be the next Doug Flutie in the NFL.
Dont hate the Dawgs. You must still be upset from the M-town win.
Dawg
Replacing Saile Ramirez at San Gabriel will be a familiar name. Michael Varela. Yes he is Alfred's younger brother, look out the fireworks are coming. Go Mats
does anyone have any info on if Maranatha's head football coach is returning back next season?
chase rettig will definitly start next year. this kid is a gun-slinger. i saw him play before a couple varsity games and that cannon can easily hit 45-50 yards. at such a young age with so much talent this kid is easily big time college material. he will be great in upcoming years just but its up to the la salle recievers to come through.
Tc Heavyweight,
There is no love for wrestling and never will be - give it up. Campa was just being nice, which is his manner. They have to sell papers and wrestling doesn't sell papers.
I am sort of high on Heyworth - he has good receivers and kids mature at different paces at this level - he has good size and skills - if he works hard we he will do well - he needs to as we have no running game.
Hey Fred, where's the love for the wrestlers in the Pasadena Star News!? I saw Gonzalez's athlete of the week a while back, but besides that, where's the love? I met Campa a few weeks ago at the West Coast Clsssic and he interviewed me but I haven't seen much wrestling news at all. How about sharing the love man? Don't get me wrong, I'm not some angry psycho, but how about spreading the lvoe a little, thanks!
Right, right, Partida should have been included in this list. and Urworstknightmare, Arroyo will be included in rankings and coverage NEXT fall.
Right, right, Partida should have been included in this list. and Urworstknightmare, Arroyo will be included in rankings and coverage NEXT fall.
ARROYO QB BRIAN PARTIDA... If his Senior year is as good as his junior year was, this KNIGHT will lead his team to a title. GO KNIGHTS GO!
The only thing that will hold heyworth back is that he was behind collis the last 2 years.
After playing receiver this year he will know how it is on the other side of the ball. The fact that a young line is needed will only lead to more passing attempts. Also with one of the best groups of receivers in awhile Coach Bonds should be able to piece together a very explosive offense. Heyworth has the body to do big things for SF. Crockom should be in the same boat. GO golden knights!!!
Heyworth will destroy at SF and any team they play. arcadia is the biggest joke of a school and football team.
i must say everyone who just left a comment sucks and is a moron. Heyworth will destroy at SF and any team they play. arcadia is the biggest joke of a school and football team.
Austin Hayworth will run the tables. he's a gun slinger who refuses to lose. watch out because he's coming for you. anyone that thinks otherwise doesnt know what they are talkng about.
heyworth is legit hes got all the tools
he will carry the gknights to victory
Coach74, give me a break.
Crockom is a great QB but colleges would never go for a 5'6 QB. I have never heard of a QB going to a big Div 1 program, ESPECIALLY USC or UCLA. That statement you made is absurd.
Kevan Walker will be like David Potts I believe.
Heyworth was a monster baseball player growing up and definately has the arm to be successful. As one of the SF people said, leadership is a big deal and especially at the QB slot.
Kilburry at Monrovia will have some trouble. He will be young and the line will be somewhat inexperienced.
Good section Fred.
-crockom will have another great year
-Heyworth is garbage
-walker should do fine
-monrovia better have a good oline because kilburry doesn't have the speed like potts did
Most likely Morgan Hatch for TC. No height, nothing new to TC quarterbacks
Anyone know who will be the next QB at TCity, Alhambra, Muir, or who will replace Saile Ramirez at San Gabriel?
Fred-
I think Heyworth will be a solid quaterback for the Knights. I am not sure if he has Collis' leadership abilities yet, we will wait and see on that but he is a very good athlete. I think the more important issue is who is going to be protecting him. He is not going pass for many yards lying on his back. With the schedule SF has next year (Arcadia, Los Altos, Loyola, Notre Dame, and the Mission League) it will be interesting to see how the line develops. Obviously their development will be the key to his success.
Heyworth will dominate the area. Not only will he be the best pure passer but will be able to run the ball with speed and power. when Collis was at a camp over the summer Austin came in 2nd place in the Redondo Beach QB challenge. Look for him to do huge things next year.
New York
Im back to Dawg...
Coach74 was my undercover name.
'Dawg,
You changed your name again. I suppose this one is faster to type. I could be wrong on this.
You are forgetting about JOhnathan Troast. Killer arm, but will he have anyone to throw to?
Maybe Walker should go to PHS and receive passes from Crockom!!!! Crockom will have a few scouts at his game next season.
But then again, Walker will go to UCLA and maybe Crockom has a great chance of going to SC or UCLA.
SF Austin Heyworth lives in arcadia. Heyworth to Walker would be a great combo.
YEAH!!! Crockom will destroy and air out the might-stangs next season @ the Turkey Tussle!!!!!
Prediction:PHS 39, Muir 24
Go get'em Bulldawgs!!!
