Baseball: It's getting heated at the top
Who deserves top billing? We're going with Pasadena Poly at the top for the second week in a row, but you can make an argument for Temple City, Alhambra or St. Francis -- the other solid one-loss teams. In a one-game playoff, however, I would still take Rasmussen and the Panthers over anyone. Temple City is the biggest surprise to me. The Rams should win the Rio Hondo League because they're so deep on the mound with MacDonald, Mendoza and Dearth. But do they have a playoff-type ace that can make the difference in the postseason? That's why I like Alhambra. They've got junior ace Noe Ramirez (2-0) to go with Rob Olivarez, who also has done an outstanding job. And the Moors are finally scoring runs for their pitchers, which could take them a long way. And then there's St. Francis, who except for a slip-up against Pasadena in the season opener would be undefeated.

Above:There are four solid teams with winning records in the Rio Hondo League, but none have the combination of pitching and hitting like the mighty Rams.
Star-News top ten
1. Pasadena Poly (8-1)
Not a question of schedule like past years. The Panthers won the Elks tournament and have an incredible 0.73 team ERA, and arguably the area's top ace.
2. Temple City (6-1)
Five shutouts in seven games is difficult to accomplish in high school baseball.
3. Alhambra (5-1)
Moors coach Steve Gewecke is breathing easier after watching the Moors score more than eight runs a game to go with his normally sound pitching.
4. St. Francis (6-1)
On six-game win streak after unexplainable season-opening loss to PHS.
5. Monrovia (5-2)
McKiernan may have to single-handedly pitch Cats to Rio Hondo League title. Maybe Monrovia will do what Temple City did a couple years back when they threw Tucker at Monrovia three straight times.
6. San Marino (6-1)
This looks a lot like football. Nice start, but what will happen when league heats up?
7. Gabrielino (5-1)
The Eagles haven't played the toughest compeition, but they're solid and could win the Mission Valley League
8. South Pasadena (5-2)
See San Marino comment and remember that the Tigers got pounded by Rams last week.
9. La Salle (4-3)
Lancers face the real Lancers on Friday against Bishop Amat
10. Arcadia (4-4)
Record is misleading because of the quality of teams Apaches have faceced. They're already 2-0 in Pacific League.

AFter Dec. 2006, I see more ucla cub jerseys and sweatshirts around the LA basin. Where were they prior to the game???? NO HONOR FOR THEIR COLORS OR ucla PRIDE... After this Dec. 2007, there will be no more ucla cub sweatshirts.
The verdict is in
SC 38 cubs-6
DAWG
Maybe you guys from Maranatha can contact Fred and ask him to start an "I love Joel" thread. That way the rest of us wouldn't have to get butt kissing shrapnel on us.
DAWG...after last year's UCLA-sc game why would you think the brain surgeons will be able to score in double digits next time?
SC will run wild in December against the ucla cubs!!! Desmond Eric Reed will score a TD on a PUNT-Return.
Prediction Score: SC-38 ucla-6

That's really cool and all and nice to hear that they have a great football coach. They also have a nice campus, nice football field, and some nice kids that go there. The baseball coach is a nice guy too. I'm sure their athletics will continue to improve.
Now...
Can we get back to baseball?
I know that this comment may not mean a whole lot to some of you bloggers but Joel is like "one of the guys". They really like playing for him and he takes coaching a step further by really wanting to mold these guys into great people most important. He really connects with them on a personal level and if anyone is critical of that comment or makes fun of it, then they really just don't understand.
Speaking from the perspective of one of his players father, I hope he stays for a long long time.
Tom S.,
I admire him too what he did at Maryanta in one year is incredible. Barnett and Ravasady couldn't get it done in a decade-- he gets my vote to be the All-Star Coach.
SMG:
No, that was not me. As much as I admire what Joel Murphy has done with the Maranatha football program that statement is over the top.
Oh, and MHS Supporter, thanks for the support.
What local high school does this Carroll guy coach at?
Tom,
quick question-- were you the one who said Pete Carroll can learn something from Joel Murphy?
get off of sf damn! i bet they dont get as far as last year.
Anon,
Talent is talent when comparing SF to CV but where CV wins is coaching.
Phil Torres has the best team in the area and I would bet the house on that game that CV wins it.
I've heard that they will probably never play though because coaches at SF are threatened by Coach Torres for some reason. Is there something that happened that I don't know about?
Anyone know the history?
Holy smokes if that kid who typed the respose to mhs supporter goes to SF they really are excepting the academically challenged kids - I am not kidding.
i wrote that comment and just to let you know i have a 2.8 which doesnt say much but my sat scores were 1960. this shows how strong the academics are at sf and second i dont proof read what i write on here its a blog your a moron for bring ing that up
Anon,
Before you knock somebody about their lack of education at least make sure that you use the right vocabulary. I believe the word you are looking for is accepting. Maybe you are the academically challenged kid.
tc vs. monrovia - a toss up either would beat SF
Holy smokes if that kid who typed the respose to mhs supporter goes to SF they really are excepting the academically challenged kids - I am not kidding.
tc or monrovia? kyle vs eddie? what do u think?
mhs supporter
cv is a good program no doubt but how can u say they are better? Both teams have a majority of the starting lineup coming from the same group of kids that played together since they were 10( the same travel teams and everything)And second no one cares what u think u mean nothing im sure your not a player
(if u are ur on maranatha so that proves ur no good)second if you are an adult what are you doing with your life to try and argue highschool kids about baseball is your life that pointless?
There seems to be a lot of 16 year old kids on this blog. Either that or the SF parents have a real language problem and are very immature. Tom S never said that Maranatha it there now. He said they will be in the future. Keep it up Tom!
By the way, think that Valley View would give Amat a great deal of trouble. That's a level of competition that La Salle has not played against this year in Baseball but MHS has.
Also, St. Francis is very lucky not to have CV in our area by about a mile only. CV is a far far better program and team and I mean RIGHT NOW!
um to the comment below i actually think they moved up to division 341 get ur info right before u write stuff on here
Tom S,
so u pretty much repeated what i said. maranantha wins division 29 championship runner up finalist winners. other than cross country which i'm sure we all will agree is among the most important sports, you did not mention wat division of CIF any other sports are. also, i happen to know two of the players from the football team at maranantha, colin jones, and felipe i dont remember his last name. they both used to go to school at sf. colin rode the bench his freshmen year and felipe didnt even play football. both by the way transferred due to grades (maranantha must be so much stronger academically than sf). colin was the starting running back and felipe was both the starting tight end and line backer for mighty maranantha. this just shows how talented they really are, kids that didnt even play at sf are stars at maranantha. And three years from now, Maranantha will still be getting slaughered by good teams, and winning state cif runner up wild card championships in division 342.
Anon- CV is not an SGV team. CV is covered by the Glendale Daily News.
We all know Phil Torres would offer to pull root for anyone that could get him covered in the Star News.
Please, Fred, don't give him the satisfaction.
i just noticed... how is CV not in the rankings?
Yes - It does seem impossible that Poly, TC. ALhambra, San Marino and Monrovia could be a team like SF - Yes SF can only be beaten by a team that has a 1-8 record aside from Pasadena's win against mighty SF their only other win was against a 1-7 keppel team. How could any beat such a powerful team full of such stud - let's end the discussion SF is the best team - even if they can't beat the worst team in the weak Pacific League.
guy whose ranting about maranatha...how can you be a cif runner up champion? isnt that an oxy moron
Hey Yikes:
Why don’t you and I meet up here in let’s say 3 years and I’ll accept your apology.
Remember I’m saying Maranatha’s Sports Program, not one team, will become one of the strongest in the West San Gabriel Valley.
Let’s look at the success our teams have had so far this year
Fall Sports:
Both Boys and Girls Cross Country had strong seasons with the Girls team 2nd ranked in Div IV
Girls Volleyball - made it to the second round in CIF playoffs
Football - co-league champions and runner up CIF champions
Winter Sports:
Three of the four sport teams went to CIF playoffs
Girls Soccer 1st ranked Div 5, Co-champions in their league and made it to the 3rd round in playoffs.
Girls Basketball – went to the semi finals in CIF playoffs
Boys Basketball – Co-league champions and went to the 3rd round in the playoffs
Spring Sports:
Both softball and baseball teams are playing good ball and playoffs have yet to come when teams should peak.
Our swimming and track teams are posting good results so far.
Not sure how golf and boy’s tennis are doing so far.
Many of our JV and Frosh/Soph teams had good showings this year and that’s where the future is.
So, Maranatha’s Sports Program has had a very success year so far and will continue to grow into one of the premier programs in the area.
To the anonymous poster before this post...grammar mistakes are the least of your problems.
ur a moron sf students are way smarter then public school students if you dont believe it get the sat averages of both schools and compare and anyways why do u always try to bring that up this is baseball. o and im sure someone with nothing else to do will find some grammar mistake in this and post to try and seem really smart well that doesnt work
Ahhh...the good ole St. Francis student's have returned from their slumber. Congrats on being #1 on the field. My only encouragement for them is to spend more time attempting that in the class room.
SF is #1 yea some sf people have been "talking shit" on here but that doesnt matter cuz the baseball team is backing up every comment with their performance and really it doesnt matter what you think cuz sf really doesnt care want to see a baseball team play come watch
The Voice-
Take your lumps...don't back down because a few 17 year old kids and their no-nothing parents are giving you crap on a blog site!
Regarding your comparison of La Salle and Maranatha vs. their only common opponent, Azusa; it is clearly not a game that should be compared. Maranatha's new coach came from Azusa. He knows everything about those players and their abilities. He developed everything they run today and his former assistant is now the head coach. I'm sure he could beat Azusa with any team.
What would be more amusing is to see Maranatha go up against Amat and see how many black stains end up in those God fearing boy's pants! I would be glad to provide the Charmin if someone would schedule that game next year...Andy...whadda ya say? I think that would be a much better comparison of how the two schools compare against fair competition.
Wow, I leave for a short while and it seems to be quite heated around here. Well, when the dust settles I hope that for this side of the valley all of our schools are winning championships. Regardless of which division, it's good for our kids to experience success.
Whoever it was that linked the article concerning Coach Mills the other day, that was quite interesting. Although, as a resident of Pasadena, I have to say that I find it quite troubling that Coach Mills is still an employee of the district and taking care of his administrative duties off campus.
the voice just because you play better teams then the other schools in the area doesnt mean your better then them as well. and a school's division isnt everything, look at bishop amat whose in divison 5 and probably better than any school you played.
so new rankings coming out on monday?
sf 1
poly 2
alhambra 3
Tom S,
YOUR A MORON! Calling Maranantha a future "dynasty" is probably among the more idiotic proclamations I have seen on this blog. It takes a long time to become good let alone a dynasty. And a piece of advice. Get used to losing. Once you win a CIF Division 14 or whatever you are championship they move you up to play real teams. Maranantha would get slaughtered if they played a team like St. Francis, Poly, or Monrovia. Don't start talking shit about Maranantha.
OK, my turn:
As one of the biggest Maranatha supporters on here I have found The Voice’s comments interesting to say the least. In previous blogs I have posted both agreement and disagreement with what he has said. Sorry to hear we won’t see his input anymore and hope he reconsiders.
Yes, we Maranatha supporters are exuberant in our support of our growing athletics program. We are in the infancy of what is emerging to become on of the strongest programs in the West San Gabriel Valley. Look at all the controversy our “Jewel of the Valley” is creating on these blogs. We are starting to turn heads but the dynasty is a few years off. Just wait
Oh, and anonymous, I for one will not be going away so get use to it.
It's been quite a year for both Maranatha and La Salle. They are two completely different types of schools and are both headed in the right direction.
Some Maranatha supporters don't appear to handle success well. Like the man said, "act like you've been there before." In other words, don't go out of your way to demonstrate how impressed you are with yourself when you’re on top.
I'm going to go watch both Maranatha and La Salle play in the next couple of weeks and see whose arguments (as they relate to baseball) are more accurate.
The only problem with Maranatha is that all of you think you have such a great program now. Not just Voice but all of you need to quit talking and play the games on the field. I think you all need to shut up!
Ok...I hear you...my voice will no longer be heard on this blog. Consider it one less MHS supporter on here. I will not defend the school any more. If this cannot be a place to "voice" my opinion then I will not participate. Let's just throw in the towel then and not have any fun supporting our school..Maybe we should act like our last baseball coach who said to his players after yet another loss last year "don't feel too down guys, were Maranatha ...nobody expects us to win".
I guess we should just roll over and give up now.
The Voice has been silenced
The Voice-
I have no issue with you supporting MHS. But please stop being so foolish with your comments. Until we start winning with our spring sports, I would stop the bashing of our surrounding schools. We have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go. Like i said before, let our kids play on the field do the talking. The "shut up" was a bit harsh, but it stems from frustration from reading your uneducated accuasations about other schools. NOBODY ducks us. NOBODY fears us. Why should they at this point?
Voice,
I have to agree with the MHS fan. While your intent is to be supportive of your team and have some fun out here...your impact (what's really being done) is putting you and MHS in a bad light. Throughout the last couple weeks the bloggers have learned the ability to not hold St. Francis' students against them (because don't exactly help their popularity points here). And the consensus of the group here is that...well...you're a little annoying. Let the kids play their game (how many times have we heard this the past week or so, yet failed to actually do it). Allow MHS and their baseball team to simply learn without the un-needed pressure and false bravado that you're posting with.
The irony is that none of the MHS fans seem to want to have you as "the VOICE".
LaSalle people--just keep plugging away. Congrats on a close game (even though it doesn't show it). St. Francis--congrats as well. MHS--just keep working hard and dedicate yourself to your crafts, all the rest will fall in place.
MHS Fan,
I am just using this blog for the purpose that it was designed for. All supporters of a particular school need a place where their voice can be heard. I don't think it's right to tell anyone to "shut up". This is just good sports talk between fans and I have a passion for the game and our school. I would never tell you or any other supporter of ANY school to "shut up". I know that our guys are doing their best and they will have success. They are a very young and talented team that has been playing teams, so far, that are a bit over their heads. Things will get better soon. If you want to participate further in the blog, please try to speak a little more carfully. You don't sound like one of our parents to use that kind of language so since, it appears that you are just a fan of Maranatha, please try to keep supporting the school with spirited comments that compliment our program and defend it. That is all I ever do here.
Regarding Maranatha's Schedule. So far, the Division avarage of their competition has been about 3 meaning that they have faced teams as high as Division 1 like Valley View. Also, Poly was the lowest level team they faced before Whittier Christian. As for La Salle, they avaraged about 4.5 on level of competition before the Amat game. Since Maranatha is a Level 7 team and La Salle is Level 5, I think its pretty interesting to compare their schedules and their results. I happen to believe that if La Salle had not backed out of playing Maranatha this year, they would have lost. All you have to do is look as strength of schedule to this point and the direct comparison of how each team played against Azusa (their only same opponent).
All I can say is that La Salle is over rated and Maranatha has just played too tough of competition to put together very many wins yet. Their record of 2-7 does not really show what kind of a team they have. I have no real problems with the top 10 with the exception of La Salle whom I feel should not be there. Just like in the beginning of the year when everyone thought that Maranatha should not be there and La Salle should. I think that the results so far speak for themselves.
The Voice-
Please shut up. Let our kids play on the field do the talking. Right now our baseball team is 2-7 and our softball isnt much better. You are not helping by running your "voice" all over this board. Give it a rest!
Saint Francis fans- No question you have a top notch baseball program. I have seen them play a couple of times this year, and was very impressed. You fans on this board on the other hand are a disgrace to the school. Do as i challenged "the voice" to do. SHUT UP!
The Voice -
Not much to say lately about your beloved Maranata? I love your La Salle comment about "La Salle playing someone tough for once." - The pot calling the kettle black - when was the last time Maranatha in any sport played anyone tough?
I think you are unable to brag about your beloved Minutemen, so you have nothing better to do than resort to sarcasm. Amat is a great team, La Salle hung tough, but sometimes you get beat. La Salle will get on with playing baseball - at least they get another shot against Amat later in the season.
I won't make cheap shots against Maranatha's baseball team right now, with their 2-7 record - I know a few of the kids on the team, they are good kids, and I know they are giving their best - just like La Salle did against Amat.
St. Francis wins their ninth in a row. Evan Simonitsch had three more hits and a pair of RBI's to lead the Knights offensively. On a side note, he has had at least two hits in every game thus far and could be the hottest hitter in the area. Pitching was once again solid for the Knights and let up only one run. They win their ninth in a row and are playing better than any other team in this area right now and quite possibly their CIF division.
Hey maybe if you were at the Amat v. La Salle game, you would've seen that it was tied in the top of the 7th with one out till Amat started to hit. If was not as much of a blowout as the score says. Maybe you should do research before you make statements.
haha what???? not a blowout? they scored ten runs in an inning. maybe you should come out of your coma before you try to sound intelligent.
ps. notice kohorst did not pitch against amat, we wouldnt want him to be embarassed or anything...stupid fairies
st francis beats montclair prep 7-1 extending their win streak to 9
voice...how has Maranatha's baseball team been performing of late?
Amat 15, La Salle 6
Welcome to a REAL world La Salle! Its nice to see what happens to La Salle when they play someone tough for once. Your record so far doesn't say much due to lack of any real challenge until Amat. How many Division 3 and above teams have you played so far??
I will give you credit for hangin with "The REAL Lancers" but the scoreboard is all that matters in the end.
Good Night Now!!!
Anon- I believe he is hung over this morning as a matter of fact.
Nice win by San Marino over Monrovia today. Either Monrovia is over rated or San Marino finally has a decent team. Monrovia needs to bounce back by beating Temple City on Tuesday.
pasadenapreps.com
I agree with SF FAN good baseball very weak academics - should be doesn't allow them to be better in football and basketball.
Hey nitemam - how is your roomie?
the only team that would even give la salle any respect is Amat
And La Salle's coach put Nieto in his place. Nieto has some serious little man syndrome.
Hey maybe if you were at the Amat v. La Salle game, you would've seen that it was tied in the top of the 7th with one out till Amat started to hit. If was not as much of a blowout as the score says. Maybe you should do research before you make statements.
SF wins number 8 in a row score of 8-6 over alemany. Sember pitches a strong complete game and would have been out of it 8-3 if not for an error with two outs in the last inning. De Pinto goes yard. Simonitsch bases loaded double. THIS TEAM IS THE REAL DEAL.
Just to comment on the post by "blank" on March 21st:
Rasmussen appeared in 1 game against the Arroyo Seco Saints in the San Gabriel Valley Sr. Babe Ruth Tournament, and in that 1 game he pitched 2 innings of relief for Eddie McKiernan. It was McKiernan who dominated in that game and showed who the best pitcher in the area is. McKiernan pitched 5 scoreless innings w/ 4 K's. Rasmussen pitched 2 innings and had 2 K's.
And...to reiterate what was also said, Bergman was called to Alaska to replace a hurt player, and DePinto was in Georgia at another tournament.
Have a nice day.
SF completes the sweep of Alemany beating them 8-6
la salle 6 bishop amat 15 welcome to a real team la salle and thats what would happen to all the teams in the area except st francis who would compete this blog is a joke end of story
monrovia 2 san marino 3 BITCHES A'INT SHIT!!!
TC 14, Blair 0
Does anybody know if Temple City beat Blair?
Pasadenapreps.com... Are you not the same guy who referred to four chairs and a piece of horizontal plywood atop the Green Monster at Fenway Park a "luxury box."
R Bell and sfhs92....consider the source.
sfhs92 ...I'm not quite sure how we got from a grammatical error to Star Wars characters and dungeons but I admire your sophisticated points of reference and understand your desperation.
Did you learn all of that during some of your one on one sessions with Christopher Kearney back in your St. Francis days?
So does that mean you were home schooled and now you are a pasty nerd who lives in his moms basement? So you are telling us you are like that little mutant from the movie bench warmers. thats cool i guess we should all start calling you Yoda, or do you prefer dungeon master?
R Bell...I know. I caught it but the impact was drastically diminished.
I promise the next insult will be better written!
if they weren't excepting heterosexuals then they were letting them in, right?
ouch, dude. that grammar gaff hurt.
see...the lack of high school has hurt my grammar!
pasadenapreps.com
So pasadena prep where exactly did you go to high school? you seem to like to take shots at other peoples schools why not tell us where you went?
sfhs92 ...I can see how much my site sucks by looking at my monitor...who needs a mirror?
Hey Pasadena preps if you had a mirror you would see how much your blog site sucks. why dont you go talk about girls soccer or something
What is the point of trying to argue the academics of st. francis this is about baseball. Not only do i believe the academics at st. francis are strong but it really doesnt matter. It doesnt matter wut gpa u have on the baseball field. St. Francis is without a doubt the best team in the area no question. If you argue this look at the players on the team. The pitching is very solid with luke collis 1 and carreron or sember 2. The lineup and defense is just as good or better, with joe depinto, evan simmionitsch, andrew sember, ramiro carreron, and 5 very solid players batting behind them.
gknights ...if you own a mirror look in and you'll see the reason your school is getting worked on this blog. pasadenapreps.comWow this looks like everyone just wishes they went to Saint Francis. I mean you people cannot stop talking about the school. Finding every little reason to bring down the school sounds like jealously to me. I know you can't find anything or anyone better to talk about so keep it up we all get a great laugh out of this.
LSTHEBEST ...you forgot Soccer.
SF will fold just like they did in football and basketball - SF is not what it use to be.
gknight hope that yell leader thing is working out for you at SF - you are a great cheer leader.
gknight is right - there is no stopping current SF students - they will continue to make morons of themselves and bring shame on the school - there is no stopping them so don't try - just watch the ignorant and childish comments flow - they can't help themselves - what an embarrassment. I just wish they would shut up and let the players who are excellent play. What has happened to that once proud and respectful school?
gknight,
Excussed? Do you mean excused - wow that SF education is really working for you. I guess you are right no D students there - just if they went anywhere else.
is it me or are the GKs the biggest bunch of bores in the SGV - WOW
De Pinto has NEVER had a hit against Rasmussen in any league.
De Pinto has NEVER played Rasmussen considering they have never been in the same league and was not there when Rasmussen played against the Arroyo Seco Saints.
So I guess that means that Rasmussen has NEVER gotten De Pinto out.
Wow Anonymous I could not disagree with you more.
This is a blog if people did not run their mouths there would not be anything to read so I guess you can be excussed for your ignorance. I will give it to you that the team did not put up against Pasadena but other than that every game has been total domination. As far as the not shutting up , are you going to stop us? Cause I know you would not be so confident in person. Since this is a blog for entertainment most people do not gernerally worry about misspellings or grammar but since you are such a tight ass about spelling you should know that it is IMMATURITY not imaturity. Talking about D students is completely ridiculous and you have no basis for an argument other than the fact that you probably are a D student. And the roommates thing is just ridiculous. I guess with all the running of the mouth, grammar errors, misspellings, and obvious immaturity you are either A)Trying to get your school to the number one spot in your rankings; or B) you are just being very commical and "posing" as a St. Francis Golden Knight.
Hey SMG:
Sorry to see that the anger management classes aren’t helping you at all. Maybe with some more time things will come around
SF is number #1 in a few areas:
Running their mouths
Not putting up and not shutting up
Per capita posers
Per capita imaturity
Per capita room mates
Per sentence grammatical errors
Per word misspells
Per capita D students
Congratulations!
SF - you had your chance to meet POLY in the ELKs T. You couldn't by Pasadena - Man up admit you are the lessor team and move on - it will be much healthier for you. SCORE BOARD.
De Pinto has NEVER had a hit against Rasmussen in any league.
On tv - where?
tc pulled one out because y? kyle saved the day! great kid and hard work pays off. Him and eddie worked out all summer good for him. Mike Mendoza can u say choke under pressure! whats new happen i believe it happened last year as well against monrovia.see what happens next tuesday against monrovia when the game is heated and on tv. CHOKE!
When & where is M-Town's next game?
the voice,
it's a shame Maryanta didn't crack the top 10. With all the ink you got in yesterday's paper you think you would be. Correct me if I am wrong but is your record 2-6 and that's good enough for Tuesday's featured game--- but then again it is baseball season and there is not much to talk about anyways -- and bet you can't wait for leauge play in the Delphic T-Ball leauge-- and yes everything is going great at Dairy Queen sister

Lets STOP crying about SF loss to PHS during Elks Tour. !!!! The game is long gone and history is made and marked for ever!
Cry me a Colorado River, cuss this BLOG is tired of reading the whee, whee, whee loss to PHS. Dem Bulldawgs were let out that day. Get over it!
Yours Truly,
DAWG
I see that Temple City beat San Marino 5-4 today. San Marino could be a factor in the RHL and make a serious playoff run.
TC at Monrovia next Tuesday should be a good one.
REAL facts: the summer league is combination of 7 and 9 inning games depending upon the game and the teams played...many are high school and many are jr college. There are both 7 and 9 innings games.
If ONLY SF could have beaten Pasadena, we might had had a Poly/SF playoff in the Elks tournament. Since they did not....we'll never know. Maybe the summer league next year...7 or 9 innings.
The Voice....after you get past the top five or six there isn't a lot to chose from. What's surprising is that there are no irate posts from La Salle people claiming they should be ranked number one.
pasadenapreps.com
despite the fact that idiots post on here about sf, i still see no reason why you think other teams are better than them. its obvious they are the best by far
How is it that La Salle is in the top 10?? Who have they beaten? Look at the CIF Level of the teams they have played. They are in for a MAJOR spanking with Bishop Amat.
They don't deserve the chance to do their laundry!! Anybody disagree with me??
strictly facts (as you see them)...I've searched this blog and can't find anyone other than you that believes this year's record of a college team determines the quality of a high school player that will attend that college next year. Can you tell me where that is posted?
And to the d-bag that refers to himself as Barry Bonds...are you as big a moron as your post indicates? Or are you just strictly facts (as he sees them) making a laughable attempt to back up his own drivel?

-Barry Bonds supporting Strictly Facts
pasadenapreps,
I don't know when that started mattering, but according to some of the people in this blog, it must have something to do with it.
strictly facts (as you see them)...why does any
of that matter? Since when is a player's value effected by the current record of
the college team he will play for?
I agree that St Francis is the best high school baseball team in the area,. but
SF supporters like you make it real easy to love hating them.
To add to what I just posted, the winning percentages of the teams St. Francis has beaten so far are all in the leagues of either Temple City, Monrovia, or Poly so that would make what you said go against your own cause. Wow, you must not be very intelligent.
Ok. I have tried to keep persective here but you guys are really starting to get out of hand. Just because Rasmussen is going to UCLA, who by the way is 8-13, DOES NOT MEAN HE WILL THROW A ONE HITTER EVERY DAMN GAME. ARE YOU ALL IDIOTS? HOW MANY BIG LEAUGUERS WHO ARE MUCH BETTER THAN RASUMESSEN DO THAT. Also, Joe De Pinto is going to USC, who by the way is 16-10 and is nationally ranked while UCLA is not, does not get a hit every at bat just because he is going to SC. Don't you understand they still have to play the game? In addition, the person that put up those winning percentages really should not post again. When people talk about tough schedule's they don't talk about who they have beaten already. It's all about league you nit wit. The opponents that St. Francis plays in the Mission League, are a combined 25-20. However, Chaminade, a team in the Mission League, beat NATIONALLY RANKED CHATSWORTH, who at the time was #5 IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY. NOT JUST THIS AREA OF STATE. COUNTRY!!! Finally, the person who posted about Rasmussen beating the Saints over the summer is very uninformed. There were a total of three returning St. Francis players and two graduated players. De Pinto is one of the three returners but was not at that game. Bergman was one of the graduates but was not at that game because he was sent to Alaska to pitch in the summer league. And finally, those are only seven inning games so if Rasmussen didn't give up any runs, then why did he pitch 8 innings? It seems like you sir have your facts a little mixed.
Rasmussen would one/two hit the SF - Let's be real. There is no one like him in the area.
strictly facts, who was this mission league ace? where is he going to school? by the way, if you didnt know, rasmussen pitched against the arroyo seco saints this summer, a team coach by a SF assistant. The Saints were comprised of mostly SF boys, and mostly ones that have already graduated, in 8 innings, he only surrender one hit and no runs with 12 ks. This is against the smales, bergmans, de pintos...hows is this any different? this is not an arguement, just trying to present you with strictly the facts.
Just in resopnce to the St. Francis comment on playing better compitition then everyone else...here are the opponents records and winning percentages for the teams each has played. (top 5 teams in the recent polls.)
TC---opponents 33-19 (.635)
Mon--opponents 32-23 (.582)
SF---opponents 25-31 (.446)
Poly-opponents 31-43-1 (.420)
Alh--opponents 16-34 (.320)
Hope this shows everyone that SF doesn't have the toughest scheduale around like they want all to believe. I'm not saying SF is a bad team, because they are not, just wanted the facts out there that there are other teams that have played tough competition, and deserve some credit. Also, just because a team has played a weaker scheduale does not mean they are a weak team. Thay have to play the games on the scheduale.
Good luck the rest of the season to all teams.
how many consecutive double digit wins against better competition than any other teams on that list is it going to take to move St. Francis past Alhambra and Temple City? They would spank them. Also, I would still take Rasmussen and the Panthers over anyone... Well that comment needs revision. The Knights dropped a ten spot on a Mission League ace and didnt surrender a run. How could Poly compete with that even with Rasmussen on the mound. They would eventually get to him, and Collis would be untouchable for the Panthers.
Anonymous,
It appears that the Pasadenapreps.com will possibly just COVER the Pasadena Area. As it is, Pasadena has 5 public high schools, and about 5 private high schools. This alone could be a city with one entire league. Dont you think?
DAWG
St francis comes up big in league game beating alemany 10-0

I don't mind you posting in here to promote your website. I'm all for promoting high school sports in the West San Gabriel Valley, and you're discussions with others here are welcome. But you should at leat provide a link on your website promoting this blog too. If not, then you have to stop posting your link on this site. Fair enough?
