Star-News All-Area teams come out next week, and thanks to our bloggers for 24,665 hits in February!

Don't miss the Star-News sports section next week. In years past, we only ran front page features of Star-News All-Area football, basketball, softball and baseball teams. That's going to change. Beginning next week we will have a front page boys and girls soccer all-area team package, which includes a player and coach of the year story, along with first-team player pictures. We will do the same for wrestling and water polo. It's our way of saluting prep standouts in other sports.
Coming next week:
Tuesday: Girls Soccer
Wednesday: Boys Soccer
Thursday: Girls Basketball
Friday: Boys Basketball
Wrestling: April 5
Water Polo: April 6

Soccer may be a WORLD sport, but FOOTBALL is a SGV sport. And the Pasadena Star News- High School Sport's BLOG runs the show in the SGV.

Just left a HS football coaches clinic and the number one reason that team in certain areas like LCF and SF can field decent football team is that the kids that come from soccer and try out for football like the aggressiveness needed to play football. It is a shame how a forgien sport that noone cares about has taken over the field of our communities. Very sad.

Anon, That why the football bloggers are questioning that game because it doesn't accomplish any thing at this point in football season.. And soccer is a real sport! It the World's Sport.. In the United States..

True that - that post has be up for 2 days and one comment by a guy basically promoting his own web-site - tells you all you need to know about soccer in America - sorry the United States of America

Soccer - no one cares except Mom (and maybe MAYBE Dad) with the kid who couldn't hack it in a real sport like football. That is why football is first and soccer is next to the obits in the back.

My God. Where would we be without the Pasadena Star News and our boy Fred J. You my friend are the best thing to happen to our local sports world in a long time.

I bet this year alone you and your paper have touched over 200,000 different players and family members.

I just can't tell you how much I appreciate all of your efforts.
