Yes, Pasadena Poly moves to top of the poll

Above: Will they be celebrating another Rio Hondo League title?
Pasadena Star-News top ten baseball rankings:
1. Pasadena Poly (4-1)
2. Temple City (4-1)
3. Alhambra (4-1)
4. Monrovia (4-1)
5. St. Francis (5-1)
6. South Pasadena (4-1)
7. San Marino (3-0)
8. Gabrielino (3-1)
9. La Salle (3-2)
Question: Who's going to with the Rio Hondo league shootout?

Monrovia Pitcher Eddie McKiernan pitched a great game against La Canada last Friday. By the end of the 5th, Eddie had a one-hitter (due to a possible error). The M-town offense kicked butt as well. I left the game at 12-0 with M-town batting.

Thanks Dawg, and for the kind words last week on my uncle's thread. Now lets get back to the discussions and the games.
Welcome back Fred
hey fred...fair enough. The link goes up right away. I agree, the more talk about high school sports the better!

I don't mind you posting in here to promote your website. I'm all for promoting high school sports in the West San Gabriel Valley, and you're discussions with others here are welcome. But you should at leat provide a link on your website promoting this blog too. If not, then you have to stop posting your link on this site. Fair enough?
Isn't Air7 run by one of Muir's former offensive coordinators?
I'm sure the Muir faithful would like scouting reports on Burroughs, maybe not poweder puff, but what the heck.
Hey Fred, How come you haven't mentioned anything about the air 7 qb camp that took place the last two weekends at san marino high? Some of the best high school qb's in the state where there. St. Francis also had two representitives at the camp. Anyone who wants to see what the camp is all about check out the website: air7qbu.com

DAWG...I was calling my blog stupid not this one. I know and respect Fred and wrote with his dad at the Herald Examiner (I was very young at the time!).
My blog is a "stupid blog" set up just for fun not to try and run down this one.
This blog is the best!
Wow! The Pasadenapreps.com guy got a little upset regarding FB realist comments.
I disagree with pasadenapreps.com regarding high school sports blog, which is governed by Mr. Fred Robledo. Mr. Robledo has done a great job covering high school sports from SGV. Some of the greatest moments in a student's life during high school have possibly occurred on the football & baseball fields, pools, tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball gyms, exct.
High school sports are NOT played for NCAA and/or $$$$! They're played for the most important thing in life-FUN. Why do some bloggers take life so serious from a simple sports blog??????
I wish the blog was around my high school era 1984-1988. It would have been fun talking about Terrell "Famous AMos" from Muir and Jon Lee running over Chad Brown at the 1987 Turkey Tussle.
Those days are priceless!!!

james bond ...CV? That's real funny. Talk about a school that is a chronic athletic underachiever! Oh, that’s right, you guys we’re a player in CIF Basketball when Brad Holland was around…too bad that was in the 70’s!
And just in case you didn't know, the Star News doesn't cover wanna be LC (AKA CV) so maybe Grant Gordon at the Glendale News Press and Bird Cage Liner can help you start a blog that covers the losers in CV.

There is nothing to be gained financially from it so crawl back in your holes and for once try to dig real deep for an intelligent thought....and don't hurt yourself.! You act like your school is the only school in the area that has underclassmen. All you ever write is how maranantha is going to be so great in a few years which does not matter at all right now. Sure your varsity teams may be loaded with underclass talent but that is only because you juniors and seniors are total jokes. The best teams are all led by upperclassmen so the younger guys have to wait to mature before they step into the spotlight.
Stop acting like these posting names are your actually identity because unless you are like some of the guys ,who post their real names, it really does not matter.
wait so how is the name the voice different from Anonymous think about it u dont identify urself yeah everyone knows who the voice is right? And good comment below about sf vs cv that would actually be the only contest thats worth talking about
Hey pasadenapreps.com,
Stop advertising for your website you pathetic loser. Fred has worked hard to build up this blog, so why don't you stop being a leech and trying to suck his success.
Just a reminder that I always identify myself when I make a comment. I don't hide behind the "Annonymous" tag that most of you do.
This year is a building year for a very very young Maranatha team that will beat Poly next year and beyond when they lose all of their upperclassmen. La Salle as well will lose to Maranatha. SF, Temple City, Monrovia will take a couple of years but by 2009, you had better keep us off of your schedule as I'm sure you will because we'll be right there. Mark....My.....Words!
Anyone disagree with that comment that doesn't go by "Annonymous"???
It's no secret that in baseball the worst team can beat the best team on any given day. The analogy of Poly beat St. Francis and Monrovia beat Poly so Monrovia is better than both St Francis and Poly is lame at best.
Blog about WSGV sports at pasadenapreps.com
this is baseball talk and monrovia beat af last year when they had a better pitcher bergman and monrovia beat poly this year........so ok Strictly Facts
i am in no way an sf fan or supporter, but this is ridiculous. You people are putting down the best or 2nd best program in the area (CV being 1). For all of you that say sf has the talent, but no heart brains or chemistry heres a fun fact for you. 5 of their players who have seen considerable playing time this year have been playing with eachother since they were 10 years old. Depinto Burns Simonistch Sember Salzman and Dean. This kids know eachothers next move while on the field. SF vs poly would be no contest, sf would win. The matchup i would like to see is SF vs CV

is that all you can say against sf is they lost their opening game to pasadena? why dont you come up with a better reason of why there not good! Im postive you know sf had a terrible day at pasadena and even then they should of won but the last inning went absolute terrible And i believe that lost was good for sf because now they are a focused group that will be exteremly hard to beat no one yet has come close to the task of beating them since pasadena
I really doubt the POLY players even think about SF -- completely not relevant to them in any way.
Good thing SF didn't play Pasadena this weekend.
Based on last week's games, how should the new area top ten look?
pasadenapreps.com
Congratulations Poly on your victory over Maranantha... Definately something to write home about. St. Francis just got done taking two of two from the Campbell Hall team that beat Poly in the playoffs last year. How can people argue the competition?
I love how Temple City, Alhambra, and Monrovia are not being talked about because everybody knows that Poly and SF are better than those teams now. But why is it like a 5 on 1 attack against St. Francis? And why is everybody saying that is such a weak school? It's not as difficult as Poly, or Flintridge Prep, but you guys need to get real and stop talking about the St. Francis of the 90's that was weak academically. That school is now among the stronger academic schools in the area. Also, Maranantha people, SHUT UP. Congratulations on your CIF D 1,000,000 football and basketball championships. Your baseball team is not good. And your school academically is not even close to St. Francis.
Let's end this Poly vs Saint Francis stupidity. Poly is a good team and so is Saint Francis. Saint Francis is probably better, but since neither team is in the same division nor do the two schools play, this all really doesn't matter. Hopefully both Poly and St. Francis can win their respective CIF divisions.
IF you really think poly is better then sf u should make sure the poly players arent telling other people that sf is in fact a better team and that they (poly) are overrated and there only real good player is Rasmussen
For those of you scoring at home Niteman, Ice Cold and Baseball Sr. same guy. If only everyone went to SF Niteman could fool everyone.
Nite,
Nice call "Lastly, it will be quite interesting to see how well Maranatha Freshman Dylan Covey handles Poly on Saturday the 17th. If Covey in fact pitches, and if he's on, we may get to stop talking about Poly all together!"

Niteman goes to SF and has a room mate????? Weird - exactly what kind of a school is SF?
Why can't SF get this kind of talent - albeit oversold on this blog - on the football and basketball teams?
I have seen Lawlwer play this year - he is a fine athlete, abseball player - there is something else at work with these comments.

Again..great game SF against Campbell Hall. Strictly facts...the Campbell Hall / Poly teams are different this year. Rasmussen did not play against Campbell Hall last year and no where was it mentioned Sam played baseball for Stanford. Agree..SF has had great games..congrats...but the correlations between teams year to year and who beat who doesn't add up. Keep playing hard and winnign games.

that is complete and utter ignorance... poly is better than sf because poly beat a team that sf lost to... you are a baseball ignorant

Niteman --- mushrooms or LSD?
I was at the SF game today. I want to stress the fact that this is only my opinion! What separates SF from lesser competitors in the area isnt just talent. You see, they are able to develop a relationship between attitude and aptitude. Their success is a result from the way they are able to fuse their capability and mindset. It's what you would call performance anatomy. Most teams around here dont have that. Have you ever seen a Poly practice? I havent since Bobby Bobby Bowman was there (who was legit),but at that time it was a joke. I just dont think that a game between the two (opinion only) would be any contest

BTW...anon...since it's obviously you fred, since your the one who can check IP adresses...why do ask advice from assistant coaches from losing teams when you're deciding who to put on the all area team? you know who i'm talking about...
I player with Lawler 2 years ago on a summer team in Pasadena. He is the worst player in the area. I want to see it before I believe he is going to play at Yale. There is no way. Bad is the only word to describe him. I think Niteman was right when he said that Lawler would do nothing but bring water to Trey Rallis.
Also, I saw Lawler in two games last summer for the La Canada American Legion team. He was crappy there too. I don't think that guy could make the La Salle girls softball team.

Ice cold,
Not everyone on this blog goes to SF or went to SF. You and bed-wetter (aka Niteman) are the same guy. Nice try.
Niteman,
Apology accpted - Lawlwer is going to Yale and is going to be on the baseball team.
Your 4.7 40 will get you into GCC - by the way a comunity college team that has no less than 10 golden knights on it - Must be very proud - that Mission league is nails.
Ivies do give scholarship - they just don't call them that. I know I am one of the interviewers for one of the schools for the West Coast.
Strictly Facts2,
I like how you jacked the name, but more importantly I like how you didn't really follow it. First off St. Francis beat Weinberg badly in the second game when he started. On a side note, Luke Collis hit TWO home runs off of him. You are right that he is at Stanford, but not as a baseball player, as a line backer in football so don't make him out to be some stud pitcher. The guy was a square last year and in all honesty was not that good. And Rasmussen was on the team at Poly last year. You just proved the point that Poly is one dimensional because they lost when he didnt pitch.
the voice
quit arguing pointless stuff about academics first of all i think your wrong but does that really matter no were talking about baseball and in what im seeing sf is the team to beat all 9 batters in the starting lineup can hit the ball well not to mention a few others who dont play that much but if they were at poly or any other area team would probably be starting and hitting in a decent spot and if you still refuse to see that then just go watch a practice or game of sf and see the level they play at then shut up
SGV -
Does he start on varsity at Maranatha?
That's all I would need to know.
I'm sure that it's not one of their Freshmen players. Must have happend a couple of years ago and is an upperclassman.
That kind of thing used to happen all of the time but not anymore.
FYI..Poly's lost to Campbell Hall last year was a different Campbell Hall team...and a different Poly team. With Sam Weinberg (now at Stanford) and without Rasmussen. Campbell Hall declined a preseason game with Poly this year.
Still a great set of victories SF. Good to see the SGV showing well across So Cal!
i want to know how loyola is the team to beat in the mission league, they are 3 and 3 while sf is a modest 6 and 1
Poly 11 to 1 over Maranatha in 5.
Today St. Francis took both games of a double header against the defending back to back CIF Southern Section D6 champion Campbell Hall Vikings. The first game was a blowout with the Knights winning 13-4. Game two saw St. Francis win with a score of 7-2. What is interesting about these games is that St. Francis pounded the defending champs of a division that Poly plays in. And on a side note, the same thing happened last year. St. Francis swept Campbell Hall who then went on to win CIF D6 championship after beating Poly 11-1. You can't argue these facts.
The Voice:
I know the baseball player from Poly that they are talking about who did not get into St. Francis but did get into Maranatha. He was struggling at Poly so applied out after 8th grade and only got into Maranatha. Quite frankly I don't want to put the kid's name on a message board for the whole world to see being as he may be offended by this.
To "God must be a Minuteman"-
This IS an acceptable place to discuss the morality of high schools when they both CLAIM to be moral. Also, when did I say that God is on Maranatha’s side? God is on the side of those who follow him. On the other hand, those who are not carefull with their words are putting him to the test.
I would be more careful about what you say. From what I have heard from other SF bloggers, you don't represent your school well with your words and you are just proving my point with the way you talk.
It's interesting that whenever someone says anything to try and appose me, they don't identify themselves. Give me NAMES of kids who transfered to Maranatha and did better. Give me NAMES of kids who could not get into St. Francis but got into Maranatha. I need names!! Not Juniors or Seniors either. Things have changed drastically since then so that won't count for anything. Give me Freshmen or Sophmores. I'll bet you can't name even one. Also, I never said that Maranatha was more academic than Flintridge or Poly just SF.
By the way, I am NOT anonymous. I AM The Voice and I'm not afraid to identify myself!
anonymous--
I don't know if you are inclined to come out to a RH Prep football game but I'd like to extend you an invitation. You seem to have a grasp on area teams. Perhaps the match-up with Maranatha would attract you.
And while I agree with your threads here (and that Loyola is really the Mission League team to beat)give an ounce (a pound) of credit to little ole Poly. Why? Well, arguably the most difficult school to get through (not in, through)and their sports program is quite good this year. I'm not a baseball guy but Poly has beaten a team or two that SF lost to this year so that's worthy.
As a former athlete my deal is I don't revel in beating a guy when he slips and I "beat him." Whether Poly wins on Rasmussen's pitching or not they still have to score more runs than the other team. I think Rasmussen is small for a pitcher going to D-1 but good for him...and I hope he does well because he's not built like the classic hurler (6'3" plus). I think a Poly SF game would be close and frankly that alone should merit respect for Poly or concern from SF.
Finally I want to offer something that everyone of you needs to be mindful of. We all love sports so let's offer our respect for anyone that goes for it, practices daily, and calls themselves a member of a team. Isn't it better to be a part of something than to not try or worse quit?

Thank you for the confirmation on the Maranatha freshman. Let me ask, what do you not agree with that I have said. Yes, perhaps I'm a bit abrasive, however, I try to develop my opinions based upon first hand observation. I don't want to argue about anything, I just would like to know if I'm mistaken about something. Thanks.
if Maranatha was so much better academically then sf why are struggling kids at sf transfering over to maranatha and doing well there
PasadenaDad...whatever. I guess it's an agree to disagree type of thing. If Poly puts luxury boxes on top of the gym then I'll buy the Fenway analogy.
pasadenapreps.com,
Fenway Park is a joke.....
It does not change the fact that baseball is played there....
The Voice -
Get a reality check - Maranatha has a new campus, and has more space and needs to fill seats with tuition paying students - there are some kids (emphasis on word "some" - I did not say "all")that are going there because they could get in, and it was the only school they got an acceptance letter from, not because they wanted to go to a school where "moral character means something." I don't agree with a lot of what Niteman says, but the story of the kid who did not get into SF was true - Maranatha was his fall back school.
Stop reading the scripts prepared by Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell.
pasadenadad...spin it anyway you like, the Poly field is a joke.
Bloggers complaining about the dimensions of the Poly basebal field is the equivalent of New York Yankee fans complaining about the 310 foot Green Monster at Fenway Park. Deal with it boys, it's all part of the game. You work with the hand you are dealt.
The Voice...is this the place to discuss the morality of high schools? Please, get down off the cross and ease up on the God is on Maranatha’s side BS. A lot of dolts get into St Francis but Maranatha’s academics are nothing to brag about…especially with the likes of Pasadena Poly and Flintridge Prep in the neighborhood.
Saint Francis is going the way of Alemany....who cares? exactly.
Niteman -
Regarding your comment about some nameless player that did not get into SF but did get into Maranatha.
That cannot be true. Maranatha's academic and moral standards are much higher than SF. I'm sure that the player chose to go to Maranatha because he wanted to go to a school where moral character means something. Also, Maranatha is a school where athletics are on the rise and SF is clearly in a decline.
The way the Poly "baseball field" is laid out has always been a laugh. The offensive statistics mean absolutely nothing. I don't know this for sure, but hitting the ball high to right field is probably part of the practice agenda.
It wasn't a shot...it was a lazy fly ball that landed on top of the closes part of the gym roof.
It wasn't a shot...it was a lazy fly ball that landed on top of the closes part of the gym roof.
Niteman-
Lawler is a senior at Poly which kinda makes it hard for him to play sports at Yale. He will be going to Yale next year though and I have heard he will be on the baseball team.
Also, until you can run a 4.7 40 and earn 1st team all league honors at LB and TE, please refrain from calling people unathletic.
Nevermind, I see you mentioned that the grand slam went only 200 feet. My bad.
GET OFF RASMUSSEN'S NUTS EVERYBODY! A GRANDSLAM AT POLY IS LIKE TAKING A SHIT. IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY AND IS NOTHING SPECIAL.
Just for perspective, the gym roof in Poly's centerfield starts under 300 feet away. Now, there are parts of the gym roof that if he reached would be impressive, but Poly has a parking lot in RF (over the first fence is a double)and the gym in CF that are well shorter than the traditional distances associated with high school baseball.
Maybe Rasmussen did hit a shot, but the mere fact that he hit a ball on the gym roof does not mean what most peoploe who are not fmailiar with Poly's field would think it means.
Again, it was a clutch hit, again, it could have been a monster shot depending on where it landed. I am only saying this because I feel your posting implied he hit a moon ball to win the game, even if that wasn't your intention.
I caught the first two innings of the Poly-Prep game today. Rasmussen was not on his game but still up 7-1 thanks to his own 200 foot grand slam hit on the gym roof in right field after three consecutive hit batters.
I am not comparing Poly's academics to St. Francis'. It's not comparable, just like Poly baseball is not comparable to St. Francis baseball. To repeat myself: there are a lot of players in the area, whom I'm sure SF would love to have on their team, that did not get into the school. Ironically, one of them (to remain nameless) was in 8th grade at Poly last year. He applied to SF and did not get admitted. He now is at Maranatha.
In reference to the statement from "SFWAYOVERATEDASPERUSUAL," what sport at Yale did Greg Lawler get a scholarship to play? First, Ivy league schools don't give athletic scholarships. Second, here is the link to their athletic site:
http://yalebulldogs.cstv.com/
Please tell me which team he is rostered on. Clearly it's not baseball. If he has any involvement with the baseball program there, his job would be to keep stats or bring Trey Rallis (Loyola '06, Mission League) water. The only Poly kid playing any sport at Yale is Evan Stone, and he plays soccer. Who's the moron now? Lastly, your comment, "Poly would win the mission league this year," shows that you obviously have no understanding, perspective, or basis for any valid opinion of SGV High School sports. ...Effectively
I am in no way a st francis fan, but I have to say that Niteman is right on and i agree with everything he has to say. I pay attention to a lot of high school baseball in this area. Lastly, I saw Lawler play in high school and in summer ball (he bounced around to a lot of summer teams)...he was utterly horrible.
Good posts niteman.
Just in case you didnt know the ivy league schools do not give athletic scholarships.
Nite,
You are now comparing SF to Poly academically - now you have completely lost it. There are D+ students with 1 and 2s on their entrance exams that get into SF and that is a fact. Nothing you write can be believed!
Niteman,
Worst athlete Lawler effectively has a athletic scholarship to Yale - what a moron. PHS didn't seem to have too much trouble with all mighty and overrated SF - Poly would win the mission league this year. Fred knows more about baseball than anyone blogging from SF. He actually go to the games.
Prep League Fan...I can agree with pretty much everything you say, however, I have seen Fees pitch, and I still don't think so.
OK, I can respect your trounce of hypothetical situations. However, I would never say never to who's going to be assigned to what league, seeing as league organizers decided to put La Salle and Bishop Amat together in the Del Rey League. Brain Fart!
Regarding your comments about "a school who's sole purpose is something other than fielding strong sports teams"...there are a number of great players in this area attending other schools who did not get admitted to SF due to academic reasons, thus making your analysis a fallacy.
Lastly, it will be quite interesting to see how well Maranatha Freshman Dylan Covey handles Poly on Saturday the 17th. If Covey in fact pitches, and if he's on, we may get to stop talking about Poly all together!
Good luck to everyone in their games today and tomorrow.
The strikes and 80's comment was Fees, not Rasmussen.
You clearly have not seen Poly play. There is no way St. Francis would not have a pitcher who throws strikes in the 80's, on their staff. Would Poly win the Mission League, I seriously doubt it, but that is not what I was saying. Are they as deep as St. Francis, no way. But they can play with anyone and pitching keeps you in games allowing anything to happen.
Poly will not be challenged in the Prep League, but that is why they played in the Elks tournament and won. I stand by my argument that a one man show could not have pulled that off against the teams in that tournament.
Again, I would personally put St. Francis as 1 and Poly as 2. But to dismiss Poly's overall team talent because of a lack of competition in their league is short sighted.
Most years, including the Bowman years, what you said is true. But Poly this year is as legit as anyone else in the valley.
You St. Francis guys take this baseball thing a bit to seriously -
Niteman...it seems that you and many other St Francis supporters just can't accept the fact that a school who's sole purpose is something other than fielding strong sports teams can actually have the best baseball team in the area.
Who cares about what would happen if Poly were in the Mission League? They never will be so all of your "promises" of what would happen are simply hot air.
St Francis is not king of the athletic hill any more. Deal with it!
I'd like to respond to "Prep League Fan"...Fees would not, could not, start for St. Francis, I promise. Poly is and has typically been a 1 man show with minor supporting characters, some who are in place to take up space. Rasmussen is legit, yes...and just as that program rallied around Bobby Bowman four years back, they will do it again. But who does Poly play? The Prep league? Common! District 17 Junior Little League could win games in the Prep League. Webb, Chadwick, Rio Hondo? HaHa and with Matt Stein gone from Flintridge Prep, will Rasmussen have any competition? Get real.
Which leads me to respond to a comment posted about Poly being able to compete in the Mission league with Rasmussem on the bump. NO. NO. NO. The Mission league is by far the toughest league around. I don't think I'd get an argument on that. I'm sure Rasmussen would pitch a great game and maybe even get double digit strike out numbers, however, you can not win in a game in the Mission league without a supporting cast. First, Poly players are used to hitting 75 MPH, no command pitching. Good luck keeping the yellow stains out of their pants if Poly hitters had to face Luke Collis, Curtis Wagner, Kyran O'Green, or David Fair! Second, even great pitchers get hit in the Mission league, and without a legit defense, you still lose. Take St. Francis' Christian Bergman for example, who was and is better than Rasmussen (another promise). Even he got hit and took a loss in the Mission league last year.
Lastly, I'd like to point out for the Poly faithful that Fred Robledo, primarily due to lack of local baseball knowledge, gives you plenty of (actually too much) love. The only example I need to give: Last year, Fred put Greg Lawler on the All Area Honorable Mention Team. That guy was the worst athlete, let alone baseball player, I've ever seen. I'm surprised he didn't hurt himself walking. Good one Fred!
My apologies to Maranatha faithful for not lending a closer eye to their possibility of pulling off league championships in the big three sports. Still I tip my hat to Poly who has clobbered RH Prep this year in 2 sports thus far.
Yes folks RH Prep is 0-2 and maybe 0-3 in these sports next to Poly. Note the hesitation to say 0-3---anyone who knows RHP baseball knows that RHP has given Rasmussen more of a challenge than most any other team he has faced in the past couple of years--fact. So Minutemen folks, enjoy the fact that you have had rare occassion to run up against one of the best squads Poly has had in years.
I think people keep wanting to write off Poly as a one man show because of Rasmussen. You can't win a tournament with just one pitcher however, and remember Rasmussen's team lost the first game he pitched in. I have seen Poly live many times over the years and trust me when I say that guys like Fees would play on any team in the valley, including St. Francis.

I don't know what you were trying to prove with your "-1 is a positive number" stuff. I have completed Calculus already and have never come across such a divine interpretation of numerical values. Crime scene investigator or not, when you put out the markers for evidence, what number do you put down first, 4 or 5. Do you put down negative one? No. You put down one, then two, then three, then four and finally five because five is a larger number. Next time make an argument that is true or at least avoid making yourself appear as idiotic as the lord.
Finchamp, yeah, I miss football season. These lastest blogs bring out the little harry potters, like LORD, who like to cast spells on bloggers. Take your lord of the rings nonsense somewhere else.

i see where you are coming from, but you cant compare the league that pasadena poly is in to the other "good" leagues around here. lets face it, the only team that is able to complete in the mission league, one of the toughest leagues in the southland, is saint francis. I think that poly would compete when robbie pitched, but with him not on the mound, no shot agains loyola notre dame or even crespi
of all of the area teams, who has the Toughest Schedule??
Maranatha is 2-4 against teams with a combined 12-26 record. Will they win their league in baseball, and claim a "big three" (league titles in football, basketball, and baseball)? Let's wait until May to find out - I am not holding my breath -
When Maranatha wins league in baseball this year, MHS will have won the big three also. Rio 0-3 this year??
Lord of the pedophiles
Recent exchanges have me firmly believing that football does indeed rule the day. The most intelligent dialog throughout this blog has come around the subject of football. Is that possible because football is tactical? It involves game film and scouting? Or that people show up to watch? Or that everyone's contribution is critical?
Think what you will but we all know what brings the fans out to watch a game. The childish exchanges (and crap) here suggest to me that we need an adult blog and a student blog--or maybe for some students (or recent grads)to behave like men. Baseball can be so dominated by pitching that it is little wonder that Poly garners so much attention this year considering their size. As a matter of fact, this is an outstanding year for Poly considering the promise of winning football, basketball and baseball in their league. As far as I know the only other area school that can lay claim to that potential fete is La Salle.
Lord in his mine even gets cracked back by his own players - ouch - what it must be like to have no friends.
Lord of the pine still needs plastic sheets when he sleeps
Such meaningless arguements.
i ride the bench? thats why ive played in every single one of the games? you obviously do not know who i am if you are talking to me like this. by the way, that other guy who calls people losers...maybe he should check whos on the blog at 657 am. yiiikes. and DAWG im assuming you went to phs because despite your best efforts, 5 is still greater than 4. think about this, im doing at the following:
a. winning
b. raking
c blasting kids and sadly enough adults that come on here.

TC runs this piece.
Why is everyone taking this blog so personal? You are allowed to ignore it and post a "constructive" statement of your own. The guys are joking around and you people are acting as if they came up and insulted your mother to your face. Get over it and have some fun with this site. Cause either way about 99% of everything said here is completely meaningless unless it is a true concrete undeniable fact like game scores.
"Lord of the Pine?"
Lord,
Why are you making a fool out of yourself. I KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND YOU ARE NOT EVEN GOOD AT BASEBALL!!! All you do is ride the bench all year long. Now for everyone else in this blog. GK71 has a good point about not everyone at SF are morons like this lord person. Lord, Stop coming on these blogs and talking, your comments are not even creditable anymore. Maby you should be in the batting cages and working on fielding becasue the games I have seen this year you can use some HUGE improvements. Leave the blogs to nonplayers and let us discuss the teams. We dont need your crappy comments to ruin this for us all. Now do i think SF is ranked too low Yes. Should they be ranked 1 or 2 no. Maby 3rd or 4th but who cares! its a blog not the end of the world. get over yourself Lord, and play some ball and not sit in front of a computer and talk out of your a$$.
-A true SF student and fan!
Fred,
I think this Blog has now sunk to the lowest of lows. It's not hard to believe that there are some real "bad apples" at SF. That is a school that should place more value on the students moral character. What they seem to get caught up in is, lets go get the bests athelete here at ALL cost. It appears to be costing them a great deal now.
Dawg,
Play no attention to a moron whose idol is Sean Astin - you know a chubby kid who get a role as a side kick - the dream of all non-atheletic losers.
The Alverno boys are using mom's computer again....
"The Lord" or whatever you must refer to yourself as to avoid ending your own life,
Get out of here, nobody wants to read anything you have to post because your obviously an idiot. When you grow up and learn to be a man then you can come back on the blog and talk out your ass. But until then you should probably get to sleep and hopefully you'll never wakeup.
Lord of the rings,
M-TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lord of the Rings,
It's too bad that your life is a flaw of disappointment. I see that you are taking Pre-Algebra in the 12th grade. 5 is more than 4, but -1 is a positive number that is beyond 4. Therefore, there is no true premise that 4 will ever be more than 5. Based on the images beyond mentality and your understanding of math, is fair to say that your 6th grade math skills are up to date with your personality.
DAWG
alright DAWG, youve proven further that youre scum and have no friends. you were bannished a long time ago, so if you decide to post again, i command everyone to not read it. no excuses were made, just facts stated. we are leading the world in runs scored i would assume, and 5 wins is better than 4. if you find some way to prove that 5 is less than 4, then you can come back on my blog.

your not John.
GK71 ...good post. I don't think anyone here really feels anything but respect for St Francis as a school and part of the community...but when the morom minority spouts off the reaction they are getting should be expected.
Fred...that is definitely a top 10 that looks like it is designed to heat this debate up.
Readers can also post their thoughts and opinions on our new blog at pasadenapreps.com
First of all I want to say that I hope that everyone who reads this realizes that the idiotic voice of one St.Francis person isnt the voice of every golden knight. The things that this guy is saying are an embarassment to a classy school. St.Francis used to do their talking on the field and the majority of the golden knight community still does. Dont let what this guy says represent all of SF....just let this guy "work and blast" himself
All I see from SF baseball bloggers and LORD is cry cry cry cry me a river. Who cares about rankings. Stop making excuses for your misery.
DAWG 3:16
I second the motion from PantherFan... SF bloggers have no class, nor respect. And they represent the All Mighty God? Just because you attend SF (private school) does not mean you know anything about anything, which it shows that you know nothing.
God Bless your parents for spending all that $$$$ for your HS diploma. The non-examined and unchallenged method of a good education has no meaning.
DAWG
Fred,
You are doing a great job. Play no attention to SF fans - they let any one who can pay tuition into that school - so they can offer scholarships to the Loyola rejects.
You St. Francis fools really need to get a life. Ok your team isn't ranked first in a local newspaper poll, no need to rant in the blogs your unintelligble insults. In a way I hope I am just wasting my time and that you all are a bunch of freshman benchwarmers on the baseball team, but unfortunately I am probably adressing upperclassmen starters on the varsity squad. A sad commentary on your school, and in all honesty if I went to SF I would be embarrased to consider you all my classmates.

ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fred,
The last couple of days were great without the baseball blog obviously there was not much baseball to talk about because there was no link.
High School baseball sucks there is only about 11 to 13 people at a game and almost all of them are the two pithcers family. Please get rid of this blog because no one has anything interesting to say.
as lord, i must say i completely endorse these sick workings of lame fools with no friends.
-LORD
To answer that question, these rankings were probably done by big Fred. You know that he learned a lot about how rank baseball teams during his last job, window washing. It would be nice if a person who knew baseball could rank these teams. I doubt Freddy has seen any teams play other than La Salle, since his kid goes there, Monrovia, Temple City, or Poly. I think he was better at his last job.
st. francis-13
azusa-6
ya i guess that qualifies as "almost losing" since st francis was beating the other teams they played 17-0 or 14-2 or 13-1.
o and DAWG is bannished. i made it clear that you could only post blogs without the word M-town. suck a jang and get out.
-LORD
I thought i told all morons to get the hell out. st francis almost lost to azusa? wait, they scored more runs in one inning than azusa had in the entire game. yeah you should expect to be dead in the next 36 hours. Im pretty sure the CIF rankings have st francis as number 1 in d3 and no other team is close to d3. bow to me or get worked.
-LORD
La Salle DID lose to Azusa 10 to 3. If La Salle fan is going to come on here and say that Azusa is a good team which I believe they are, then what about Maranatha who beat them 8 to 6. Shouldn't they return to the poll?
Nice Rankings-
Wait a second..didn't St. Francis almost lose to Azusa?
hey bitch,
you should probably GET A LIFE.
nice rankings... SIKE BITCH. those must be the comical rankings. i'm waiting for the ones that dont actually put the worst teams ahead of st. francis. poly is legit because they won that tournament. but temple city is a joke. alhambra is an even bigger joke. and monrovia is the biggest joke of all of them. monrovia didnt even make the playoffs of that tournament and lost to a team that sf beat 14-2. alhambra would get blown out by the golden knights as would temple city even if "The next coming of Jesus" kyle mcdonald was on the mound. are you kidding me? who does these rankings because that person sucks and should probably end life.
Monrovia has a great chance of taking the Rio Hondo League once more. I think TC will give them a run for the $$$$. It will boil down to M-Town & TC at the end. Then again, It will boil down to Kyle MacDonald & Eddie McKiernan on the dual battle of pitchers.
DAWG
Fred,
If the Star News/SGV Tribune is looking for Sport photographers, let me know. I have 9 years of CRIME SCENE photography experience.
DAWG
Fred,
You should look into parents and schools emailing you pic's of the games - it seem as though some parents actually have better cameras than your staff - the LC - MB game, while the shots are good are way too dark and the players have red eyes - same with the Poly/Rio football game.
Griff, good point. We had a photographer scheduled to shoot the Pasadena-Crescenta Valley baseball game, but he had to cancel at the last second for personal reasons. That's why we had to steal a picture from another zone to fill the space.
Good comment, griff. The online version of the Glendale News Press (part of paper LATimes if you live in Glendale) provides better coverage of some Pasadena athletes than the Star News does.
Fred, you do a great job with this blog as well as your overall high school reporting. Would you please tell the "powers that be" that decide to use a photo from a Whitter-area (yesterday La Mirada vs. Loyola) or East San Gabriel Valley game that the Pasadena in Pasadena Star-News should mean something. The box scores show a dozen local games of different sports. Couldn't a photographer have been assigned to one of these? Ditto with stories about Citrus College or Mt. SAC in the Star-News. Who cares? The LA Times has dramatically cut back its prep coverage in the paper and I worry that trend is affecting local dailies as well. I know this isn't your call, but someone is making these choices.
