And I thought this was a slow week ...

Monday
Pasadena Poly's UCLA-bound Rob Rasmussen, the best high school lefty I've ever covered, struck out a school-record 20 batters in a 5-1 victory over Glendale in seven innings, which is only three shy of the state record of 23 in a seven-inning game. I remember Alverno's Jessica Stewart striking out all 21 in a softball game against girls so scared their knees were shaking, but you have to put Rasmussen in a different category. I don't know where this ranks, but it has to go down as one of the greatest single-game performances in West San Gabriel Valley history.

Wednesday
Monrovia's UNLV bound righty Eddie McKiernan throws the second no-hitter of his career, blanking La Canada 2-0 behind eight strikeouts.

Rihanna tore the beat from Only Girl apart with those amazing vocals. I wish that the remaining songs on Ri's album are as stellar. Rihanna's style is terrific this era and I absolutely adore it.

tucker
throws 95+
good game

fred...easy call. I go with the lefy Rasmussen every time. He will rarely be wild and throwing left handed is a huge plus.

Funny, funny, but seriously, if you were playing for the CIF championship, who would you throw with Rasmussen, McKiernan or Ryan Tucker available???

wait a minute, he looks like the young cruise from BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY (when he had braces)...

Okay, we should call eddie TomCat, perfect

Preps, you're right, we may never see a lefty-righty this good at the same time for yearsssssssss

Is it me or does Eddie look like a young Tom Cruise....I swear he looks like Cruise in ALL THE RIGHT MOVES...

public vs private what a joke after rob and eddie its a slugfest

You need a star-news public vs. private baseball game like last year's softball game at Arcadia. That would be great, Rasmussen and Collis pitching against McKiernan and those Temple City boys

Fred...we're fortunate to have these two outstanding pitchers in our area.
Everyone should see these guys throw at least once before they graduate.
