BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Arcadia pulls into first-place tie with Claremont; Gabrielino rises in Rio Hondo League race
Here's Scott Galetti's update on the Pasadena Star-News area boys volleyball teams.
Things are very interesting in the Pacific League boys volleyball race after Arcadia High School (13-3, 5-1) got past league-rival Claremont (10-8, 5-1) in five games Friday night. The Apaches avenged a five-game loss to the Wolfpack in March and climbed into a tie for the league lead. Both schools have matchups with Crescenta Valley on the horizon, but if they remain tied, they'll share the league crown for the second straight season. Claremont, the No. 7-ranked team in CIF-Southern Section Division II, was declared the league champion a year ago after beating Arcadia, the No. 6-ranked team, in fewer games. Since both teams won in five this season, another tiebreaker will be announced to declare the champion. Apaches' outside hitter Ryan Scott continues to get stronger as the season goes on. He put down 16 kills in Friday's win.

Gabrielino shocks San Marino
Gabrielino (8-4, 4-1) burst San Marino's bubble with a five-game win Friday. Tommy Tsoi led the Eagles with 26 kills, while John Madrigal added 20 kills. Shane Chen had 16 kills for the Titans (7-6, 3-2). The Eagles moved a 1/2 game behind South Pasadena for first place in the Rio Hondo League and are in the others to be considered in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division IV poll.

South Pasadena High (11-2) was swept in three games by Valley Christian of Cerritos, the No. 2-ranked team in Division III on Friday. The Tigers still made the newest Division IV top 10 poll at No. 8

La Salle Lancers beat Bishop Amat on Thurs., setting up a match for first place in the Del Rey league on Tues. May 1 against Bishop Montgomery at La Salle.
Bishop M is ranked high in Div 4.
Go Lancers!
I am so glad someone locally has given these athletes the light of day. Those who say volleyball is a less than masculine don't know volleyball. It is a finesse sport, but they are real athletes. So, stop referring to our athletes as homosexual, because these kids have as much hair on their legs as the softball players.
South Pasadena beat Gabrielino in three games.
Who won the Gabrielino vs. South Pasadena game?
I also wanted to say that Brentwood is in Div. 3, and is not even ranked. That must be one tough division!
La Salle finally played Brentwood Monday, and got worked by the team from the westside. Brentwood had a hitter (#5) who could literally float and fly at the same time, and he accounted for many of their kills. The Lancers played fine, but all the hitters from Brentwood proved to be too much. At least it was not a league game.
Scott, can't you delete these off-color posts below? It is, after all, a site about high school athletics.
Volleyball is the greatest sport ever! If anyone has the love for Gabrielino it is me. I cannot wait for the next upcoming volleyball season! All you OH's aim high and tight.
Gabrielino is in the RHL for volleyball. South Pasadena and Gabrielino play on Tuesday at Gabrielino.

Scott Galetti, this is awesome, and I hope volleyball fans start spreading the news and come on this blog. Finally, some love for volleyball.
