BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Things are heating up on the hardwood floor
As area teams battle it out for playoff positions, it's time to add volleyball to the blog madness.
Here's Scott Galetti's take on the cream of the Pasadena Star-News area teams.
Arcadia has traditionally been the top team in the area and this season is no differet. The Apaches' only losses in regulation matches have come to San Marcos (ranked No. 6 in CIF-SS Division II) and defending Pacific League champion Claremont. I have three reasons that could prevent the Apaches from advancing past the quarterfinals. Corona Del Mar, Santa Barbara and defending champion Valencia. San Gabriel is another team to keep an eye on in its chase for a Division III crown. La Salle and South Pasadena are teams to watch in Division IV. The Tigers will face San Marino in a key Rio Hondo League match on Thursday. Flintridge Prep and Pasadena Poly are in the CIF's top-10 in Division V.

Star-News top five
1. Arcadia (10-3)
Enjoyed a week off after tough league loss at Claremont
2. San Gabriel (13-5)
Finished second in a pair of tournaments
3. South Pasadena (8-1)
Holds win over La Salle with lone official match loss coming to Arcadia
4. La Salle (15-7)
Opened some eyes with three-game win over Division II Canyon Country Canyon in Las Vegas tournament
5. San Marino (6-4)
A three-game sweep over San Gabriel proves the Titans can play

Hardwood flooring installation can be an arduous and time consuming job, but if you feel comfortable giving it a try, you may potentially end up saving quite a bit of money.
Hey Fred,
Is this the same Scott Galetti that did the baseball preview and had Rosemead (3-10), Maranatha (6-8), South Pasadena (1-4 in league) and La Canada (6-7) all ranked in his preseason Top 10? I'm not sure if being ranked in Galetti's Top 10 is such a good thing. I look forward to seeing how this pans out.
Lancervideo, we should both be thanking Scott Galetti, who came to the Star-News a few months ago. He loves volleyball and offered to start a weekly thread. Keep the comments coming
Fred,
Thanks for trying to get something going on local high school Volleyball. I didn't know much about any of this until my son started playing at La Salle.
I had the pleasure of going with the Lancers to Las Vegas for the 14th Annual Easter VB tourney. It was very well run, with many So Cal teams like Loyola, Capistrano Valley, Salesian, Don Bosco, Verdugo Hills. Of course, also many Vegas and Arizona teams, some who can play pretty good VB.
The gyms we played in were in the Vegas suburbs. They are all the same design, huge with three VB courts side by side.
The Lancers had an OK first day, losing a game at 7 pm against a team we should have beaten. This put us in the consolation bracket. The 2nd day La Salle went undefeated, beating Canyon Country, a D2 school, winning 15-13 in the 3rd game after being down 12-9. Mike Fey was crushing the ball, hitting into Canyon's big pair of blockers so hard that the ball was bouncing off their hands and going out.
The kids brought home a nice trophy, played 8 matches in two days, and hopefully bonded enough to help them in the Del Rey league, especially against Bishop Montgomery.
It cracks me up to see 100 posts in your latest football blog, off season, and this is the first for VB.
