Below: Muir's Kiani Profit was amazing at last week's Masters meet, winning the 100 and 300-meter hurdles titles. She's hoping the last high school meet of her career can end with at least one state title this weekend in Sacramento.

SACRAMENTO - It was no surprise who were the top area standouts at Friday's CIF-State Track and Field preliminaries at Sacramento City College.
Muir High School's Kiani Profit rebounded from a disappointing performance in the girls 100 hurdles (10th place, 14.23) by easily cruising to a victory in her heat of the girls 300 hurdles (43.06). The senior's time was fourth-best overall.
"I didn't run as well as I did last week," said Profit, who qualified for the 300 hurdles in State last year. "Experience counts a little bit. But you also have to have the drive for it and talent. You can't win without either."
Profit had the near-impossible assignment of running in the same heat with top 100 hurdler Dahlys Marshall of Valley Christian.
Marshall won her heat with a time of 13.71, fourth best overall.
"I have run against her for a long time," Profit said. "I try not to focus on other people, just myself. But I have to give her credit. She's great."
Profit will conclude her prep career today at 7:05 p.m. in the 300 hurdles, looking for that elusive State title.
In another final attempt, Division I 110 hurdles champion Zion Babb of Alhambra will have one last opportunity to
beat long-time rival Terry Prentice of Diamond Ranch today at 5:59 p.m.
The Moors' lone representative claimed his heat and fourth place in his competition with a time of 14.06.
"He's getting better and better every week," Alhambra coach Jerry DeSantis said. "Health-wise, he seems to be in good shape."
Also in good standing is fellow Almont League runner Kevin Lau of Schurr. Proving his finishes at the CIF-Southern Section Divisionals and Masters were no fluke, the Spartans senior finished in seventh in the boys 300 hurdles with a time of 38.13.
"Today, just knowing that you're at State just gives you the will to push even harder," Lau said. "It makes me feel good that I even got this far."
Lau is scheduled to compete at 7:13 p.m. today.
Another seventh place showing was turned in by Muir's Jalisa Williams in the girls 100 hurdles (14.10). The senior, who has been battling nagging injuries for most of the season, finished second in her heat.
"The competition is pretty big," said Williams, who is scheduled to run today at 5:48 p.m.
"You know that everybody you're running against is the best in California. I was just trying to make it to the finals."
Even though Rosemead's Jesus Correa had somewhat of an average performance in his competition, the boys shot put, the senior still had enough (55 feet, 6 inches) to advance to today's final at 6 p.m.
Unlike last week's CIF-SS Masters competition, Correa had to rebound from a bad first throw to qualify.

What a release to determine a post that can be present ultimately really value reading! I’ve been seeking all-around about this focus but men and women just put trash posts, or brief meaningless article. I contain looked at a couple vids on youtube but it’s now the identical as reading a good article.

I like this data given and it has given me some sort of commitment to succeed for some reason, so keep up the good work.

Thanks for the post - I thougt it was written well. It was very comprehensive.

So far Im liking this Movable Type blog better than most of the Wordpress sites I come upon. Wishing you and your family the best of all holidays

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

I am extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it's rare to see a nice blog like this one these days.. :)

Hi. this is kind of an -unconventional- question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you've got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this ...so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I'll just keep working on it one day at a time.

I ever watched great stories about doing small time but make great time. I was surprised, so I ignored them. But it is my fault, so you must not capable and follow me to do that. When the time was changed the ecosystem will be changed too. But one can’t be changed, it is the changes itself. Why? No more to explain that. Getting the most valuable person like you is my future lucky. The best time to do that is with my brain. Offline time can be bored, so why don’t you use online time to become rich together? Vacation can be good one; especially we hope that after reaching success, time we spent can be substituted with great time for vacation. I am sure that you are capable in doing that, so great people will meet great time for spending time. Have a nice travel with chosen one. Really wonderful one!

thankyou lots, I am obliged to announce that your blog is excellent!

This has been an entertaining read. Please keep the quality posts coming. I am adding this to bookmarks.

Thanks very much-very helpful. I have passed this on to the team dealing with this.

Yes track is a sport for the self-motivated who know how to push when no one else is pushing them. I continue to be amazed by Jordan Hasey who repeated as 3200 champ this year in a remarkable 10:06! She finishes 100+ meters ahead of her nearest competitor and she's only a sophomore

First you take 3.9 and 4.1 and add the two together. If you added right, you should get the number 8.0. Now, divide 8.0 by 2 and you should come up with the answer 4.0

how does a 3.9 gpa and a 4.1 gpa combine to equal a 4.0 gpa?

Track dude said:

I'm reluctant to respond, but I will. One athlete has a 3.9 GPA and the other has a 4.1 GPA. The point Anon (your life must be a "non" too) is that they are beautiful, athletic and smart.

HAH, uh, 1.9 plus 2.0 IS a combined GPA nearly 4.0, but that still isn't remotely half decent.

combine gpa of 4.0 ? is that supposed to be good or bad?

Track and Field is one of the purest forms of competition. We should have better coverage of these fantastic athletes who toil for months for just 14 seconds of fame. I have known many of these kids since they competed in grade school and you can't find a nicer grpoup of kids. By the way what is lost on many of these athletes is that they are fine students. The two young ladies at Muir carry a combine GPA near 4.0. Please congratulate all of their accomplishments.
