FOOTBALL: Who will carry the load in 2007?

| | Comments (45) |

Staff writer Scott Galetti continues to visit the various training camps throughout the summer.

Question: Who will be the top running back this season?

Anthony Brown.jpg

Above: Alhambra's Anthony Brown has the talent to light up opposing defenses.

Anthony Brown (Alhambra).
Collected 1,058 yards and 15 touchdowns in nine games in 2006. Is expected to be the Moors go-to guy this season.

Willie Youngblood (Muir).
Is expected to once again be the workhorse for the Mustangs after rushing for 1,439 yards and 13 touchdowns a year ago.

Will Do (Temple City).
Has size and the power to run through people. Had 366 yards and four touchdowns a year ago.

Mark Love, (Maranatha).
Led the Minutemen on the ground with 1,659 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2006.

Paul Wilson and Tra Sumler, (Rosemead).
Wilson was the Panthers' ground leader in 2006 with 1,016 yards and six touchdowns, while Sumler showed shades of what he's capable of with 304 yards and two TDs.

Anybody see the wynton marsalis interview on 60 minutes? Was a great piece!

I love those series of tubes?

This is a really good read for me, Must admit that you are one of the best bloggers I ever saw. Thanks for posting this informative article He had heard things about how the divorce rate for police officers was much higher than it was in other professions and that there was a higher prevalence of depression among police.

Hmmm. Youve piqued my interest. Im hoping to find some of these bios on audiobook so I can listen while Im driving. Unfortunately, my quiet reading time appears to be limited nowadays for some reason. If I had to pick from first glance those titles that intrigue me most, Id say Goya, Basquiat, and Gaudi. One of these days, I gotta see some of your own work in person.

I love the expression. Everyone needs to express there own opinion and feel free to hear others. Keep it up :)

It is rare for me to discover something on the net that is as entertaining and intriguing as what you've got here. Your page is lovely, your graphics are outstanding, and what's more, you use source that are relevant to what you are saying. You're definitely one in a million, well done!

You're not the general blog author, man. You definitely have something important to add to the net. Such a great blog. I'll be back for more.

very nice blog, keep it up, will share this to others.

WOW! Look at all the folks with BHD(Bush Haters Disease)! Talk about somebody not doin' their job. NObama, I mean Obama(Oprah's lap dog) has only been in in Congress doing his job about a grand total of 120 days, look it up! The rest of the time he's been running for President. McCain can earned his time off after 20 YEARS of Congressional work. He's gotten more legislation through than Obama will ever get through even if he becomes Commander in Chief. Heck, Gov. Palin has done more governmental work just in her state than Obama ever will!

Is Alhambra still running a Wing-T? What positions in the W-T do Brown and Smith play?

anonyous said:

Simply crazy! Dushine Smith is right where he belongs, doing it the right way. He is an amazing talent and just as impressive young man. He is a team player who is making his mark without making a scene. Anyone who hasn't noticed him isn't paying attention, and he is going to do well at the next level. What coach wouldn't want a humble STAR who is willing to do whatever is asked, and always with a smile. By the way he has also looked great at cornerback this summer.

Mr 5, my mistake.

I did the list from my hotel room on the road during my vacation and read the wrong roster.

ulyses lopez from san gabriel graduated this past year more than likely it will be martin pena carrying the load

and by the way,it's Dushine Smith and he wears that blue and gold like a champion...believe me he's second to no one...at A.H.S. theres no one man team,it's a "FAMILY"-and believe me he wouldn't trade the opportunity to play for such a great coach,or better yet a greater man-dushine knows his place, and he also knows that he is the main piece 2 this prolific offence(2007)wich only makes him an unselfish individual-plus he will have 1000 yds or more, and will score at least 10 td's-and if he ain't scoring,he'll probably be the first player in the endzone to congrats Mr. Brown, aka,"Lil Century"-don't know about bananas, but Dushines one helleva ball player and a MOOOR for life.....See you in NOVEMBER

Theres's a running back over at gabrielino hs that may surprise everyone this year. Remember the name Fabian Gutierrez. He's an all purpose back that quietly had 10 TD's and 800+ yards last year. He will be one to watch.

hands down,Anthony Brown and dushine Smith will be the most devistating combination in SGV history-they are the reggie bush and lendale white(THUNDER AND LIGHTENING)of the whole south east division-and smith don't need 2 go anywhere-he's just 1 piece to of the Moor's quest,to give coach Ruedaflores one hell of a shot-and anthony brown is hands down, the most amazing talent i've ever known at A.H.S-and they've had some great ones-it's like watching barry sanders @ the high school level-don't let his size fool you-cause on that football field he plays bigger than anybody on that field-he's extremely physical, phenominal quickness, almost freakish like balance, and the heart of a lion-he is something special-the bad news is that he's back for his Senior year-WOOOOW!good luck Moors 2007-I'm counting the days.......

Stang fand said:

Muir HS running back is the next great back to wear a Muir uniform. He reminds Muir followers of hints of Ricky Ervins in terms of size, speed, a the ability to run inthe open field, and inside/outside of the tackles. Look for him to be the Star News Player of the year for the 2007 season. Certainly will lead the area in rushing yards for the season. But how decent will Muirs line be and will they run a balanced enough offense to keep the defenses honest? Also what are college scouts saying about him as a D1 prospect?

Tom S said:

I can’t wait to see the stats Mark has in his senior year. He's posted some great marks the last couple of years and with the experienced O line in front of him he will be hard to stop.

MHS FAN said:

Yeah Mark Love... not only a great running back but a really fine young man. on and off the feild a class act. If his line can throw a few blocks ( which they can) this kid is GOOOOOOONE

AHS 05 said:

HAVING PLAYED ALONG SIDE THESE TWO BREAK BACKS, THERE IS NOBODY I'VE SEEN YET THAT IS ABLE TO PREVENT BROWN AND SMITH FROM BREAKING 150 YDS, PLUS EACH GAME.

I guess Sean Smiths' talent will again have to play second fiddle to Anthony Brown. To bad, you only get one shot at high school and being know as the second banana will forever shadow him. If you had been better advised you should have gone to a different school and been a star by yourself.
