The starting o-line for monrovia is, Fransisco Luna #51 (Sr.) at tackle, Herman Goss #??(Sr.) at guard, Bobby Garret#??(Sr.) at center, Matt Calver#60 at guard and I believe Dominic Rupp#?? (Sr.) at tackle...Dont hold me to it, i am not quite sure as Gerard Longtin#52(Sr.) was injured on wednesday night during practice. With Longtin off the line this week a few people might have been switched around so im not sure. Again no word on wether or not the key lineman for monrovia will be playing or not, Neil Harris#66 (Sr.). Im not sure whats going on with him but i sure hope he makes it back onto the starting line up because he is an essential addition to the offensive and defensive lines. But over all the o-line for monrovia is pretty solid and should be able to do a number on montclairs defense. D-line wise, im not sure who exactly is starting, but I do know that the other key lineman Andrew King#77 (Sr.) is going to be sitting out, due to an undisclosed reason. When King and Harris return, they will both make an equal impact on whatever side of the ball they are on.Go Wildcats!!!!

how about in the order that you predict the pacific league to go down?

ScottG said:

Frank, actually they were in no particular order. Looking back they should have been alphabetical.

C. Green

I like the name by the way...because if Muir schedules Monrovia they will being seeing Green all night long in the endzone, I would love for the Mustrangs to put MHS on their schedule it would do a lot of good for both schools, it will bring back the compettive spirits of the players and that killer instinct of each school. I think it makes schools like Muir and Monrovia more compettive outside of the area as well. So tell the Coach to Bring it.

New York said:

c. green is not seeing clearly. Unless you have Doc Brown's time machine, you will never again see Muir as THE dominate team in the WSGV. Certain years yes, but the glory days of reloading every year are gone.

c. green said:

the stangs are the best team in the w. san gabriel valley by far. it always has been like that and it always will. players go to other schools in the area because they do not have the heart to play at Muir or they are scared of competition.

Frank P said:

scott, you chose pasadena over arcadia in your preseason pacific league piece?

please say it aint so!

Frank P said:

well thats kind of what happened last year. burroughs was the division #1 going into the playoffs. they lost in the first round. muir was the only team to advance out of a four team league.

New York said:

Anon 8:56pm,
Whomever those studs are, they hold the key to victory likely more than they know. Good thing Minter and Alonso are there.

New York said:

Those polls look a bit skewed toward San Bernardino...let the fun begin. The Pacific league champ could be 9-1 and not get seeded at this point.

who is the starting line for Monrovia??? im talking both offense and defense wise

Frank P said:

thursday is tomorrow!!!

what i want to know is if the psn is ready for football? if scott galetti is ready for football?

are you comming out to arcadia? bro, what's the deal with not answering this question? im almost sick on asking it!

If muir was on it, that's one thing, i actually respect muir and their PROGRAM, but PASADENA... who was the pacific league's rep at the meetings? mills?

i just wanted to remind the stang fans about the year after Sultan McCullogh. First round of playoffs. 98-99 year St. Francis won that game I think 45 14

Stangfan,
The SF and Muir games where not as one sided as you make them out to be. In the mid and late 90's SF got at Muir a few times and even knocked them out of the playoffs. One of the best games I ever saw was a regular season Muir SF game when Muir had Sultan McCullough. The SF QB was Kjell Nessen who went to WSU he helped to keep the game close but in the end McCullogh was just to much for the Golden Knights. After that game I turned into a huge McCullogh fan and followed him at SC it's to bad he tore that stomach muscle at SC he had the chance to be a special back. I think this game should be played on a yearly basis. Muir and St Francis year in and year out are the cream of the crop in the wsgv.

New York said:

One more thing, I would never suggest that Muir is afraid to put certain teams on its schedule (I don't know enough about their administration). But, putting OC on the schedule does not really prove that point. Playing OC gives Muir nothing to lose. If you win, you're a hero. If you lose, no big deal. If Muir loses to SF, Los Altos or Charter Oak...then you all have something to lose.

New York said:

Stang Fan,
That explanation sounds like it could be accurate. I certainly don't agree with the rationale (by the ADs but whatever). I also don't subscribe to boasting about playing OC or LB Poly in a lopsided match.

I am more territorial. If I felt like I was losing players to Charter Oak, South Hills, Los Altos, St Francis or wherever, I would put those teams on the schedule and make damn sure to beat them.

ScottG said:

P, to answer your question yes, Thursday is the day the special section comes out.

NY:

When SF was in the same division as Muir I don't think the matchup was scheduled because there was always the possibility that they would play in the playoffs. You could argue for or against that reasoning, but that's what I believe it came down to. Now that you don't have that problem both schools should most definitely look into it, however, because of the "recruiting wars" I don't know if it will happen. On Muir's end, I know that they would schedule that game in a heartbeat because the staff and players really believe, as do I, that we would beat them.

As for why Muir scheduled teams outside of the SGV? It's definitely not because they are scared, otherwise they wouldn't schedule the top tier teams that they have been for the past twenty years or so. I know, I know, Jefferson and Franklin DO NOT count and should be removed from the schedule immediately, but for the most part Muir always schedules some tough teams, even though many people believe that they shouldn't. That's not to say that there aren't any tough teams in the SGV, because there most certainly are. With that said though, I think the players enjoy playing the "TV-type" teams. If it came down to it they would much rather play LB Poly, Oaks Christian, Loyola, etc. for their "tough" games rather than South Hills, Los Altos, or SF.

Is that how it should be, I don't know. They haven't been on the winning side of those type of games since the mid 80's to early 90's. But the players LOVE playing in those games, it's something they can tell their kids about and rehash during reunions and what not. At the same time, playing the top teams from the SGV would generate a lot more local interest and be great for has-beens like us to talk about.

Personally, I think they should schedule at least one major SGV program, that would be great, and truthfully I'd like to play an East power because those cocky bast**** need to be brought down a peg or two. But hey, I'm no AD so we'll see.

Hope I didn't bore you NY, as you well know I can be long-winded at times.

LET'S GO STANGS!!!

The Stang Fan said:

I am titillated that more Stangs are finally coming out of their shells and posting on this blog. If you are in the Stang Nation and you have only read and not posted, we all invite you to join us. I've been riding solo for a minute and it's much better to roll deep, like my bros from M-Town.

With that said, I'm going with a minor name change as you'll notice at the bottom, and although it's reminiscent of the pretentious "The" Ohio State (which I've always loathed) I am going to roll with it anyway.

ScottG said:

P, I cannot take any credit for the promo. It's just something I was given a link for by the higher ups.

Muir and St. Francis have scheduled each other several times in the last 20+ years or so. Muir actually losing back in 84 in a game lead by former Muir great Richard Bell (Nebraska, Steelers for a brief stint) that went down to the wire. Muir winning several times convincingly since then. They should schedule local schools they played LCHS a few times in the early 90's as well. Other then that they have only scheduled Monrovia and Bishop Amat during their glory years of the 90's.

SG--

Okay so it took a while to download--looking forward to the preview

Scott--

Nice tease....am I ready for what? Am I ready for some HS football, yes. Is then when the preview comes out?

DAWG said:

Most schools have a two year contract during non-league games. Therefore, it's sometimes difficult for some schools to face each other.

Here's my question;

Should schools draw from a hat for the non-league games during the off season?

This way, some schools that dont play each other will possibly see a power house such as OC or in between a 1-9 team.

Why doesn't St Francis play Muir? Why does Muir play so many teams from outside the SGV (east or west)?
