Excellent job.
St Francis will redeem itself. They played the worst game ever against Arcadia. There is no way Alhambra would beat SF.
two man team?
arroyo 42 alhambra 10??
hahahah
more like
alhambra 42 arroyo 14!
ALHAMBRA IS RANKED AT #2 BECAUSE THEY WERE 2-0. ST. FRANCIS IS 1-1. HELLO, DO THE MATH.............
ST. FRANCIS IS A SOLID TEAM BUT ALHAMBRA WILL BRING IT.........STAY TUNED!
MOORHTR, this is for you: 2 man team?? YOu forgot to mention the entire Offensive line too genius. You know the same line who opens up the window for Smith & Brown to go on through. The same team who held back the FAVORITES, "Temple City" in their OWN end zone without allowing so much as a single point. MOORHTR is all you are about! You come with no facts, stats or evidence other than your hating!! I raise my cold MOOR glass to you, have a drink of some HATORADE!!!
ALHAMBRA MOORS 2007!!!!!
Alhambra an overrated team?? Get off the bus before it crashes?? WHat game, team, season are you talking about?? BESIDES the obvious Smith & Brown, the entire Offensive line is in for the long haul. If you saw last year's line up you would KNOW that this team is a lot stonger, more thorough and plain out READY for St. Francis. Check the scorecard buddy, check the ranking. Yes St. Francis is #1, but we are right behind at #3. We are favored to win in the SGV and will work HARD to prove that ALL the haters like yourself will eat crow once we have made it. Oh anf F.Y.I. for the other "genius" who said that Alhambra wouldn't beat a good team. UMMM, HELLO, we SHRED Temple City and AHS went in as the underdogs. I don't know who's bus you are riding on, but you obviously need MOOR of a reality check!!
Alhambra all the way!
"TWO MAN TEAM""
THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!
ARROYO 42 ALHAMBRA 10
Scott:
Pretty good top ten. Blair is such and enigma right now, and will continue to be as much until they play some quality teams. But from what I'm seeing right now, I'm not quite sure if calling them a playoff team is "going out on a limb." Tip has done some really remarkable things in Pasadena, from Pop Warner, to being the "real coach" behind PHS' last Tussle victory over Muir, to his Marshall days, and now with this team at Blair.
As I've mentioned before, he's not the prototype X's and O's coach, but he is an amazing leader of young men. I've got nothing but the ultimate respect for Coach Tip and I wish him nothing but the best.
The 1995 Amat team totally gelled in the playoffs. There were a 7 win team going in. Then they decided to fead Ralph Brown the football as an RB. They passed just enough, though. They also had an O-line with Brian Pollak who went to UCLA, another guy who went to Columbia. They essentially had three guys weighed 300+ and were taller than 6'3.
Come on people.. Alhambra does have two great backs, but the rest of the team is overated,,Arroyo which is an average team will beat them this week.. Get off the bus now before it crashes!!!!!!!!!!
woah woah woah,
when did we start comparing the 2007 Alhambra team (who almost lost to Glendale btw) to the Bishop Amats of the mid 90's.
I mean i have no problem with giving Alhambra its due. They are one of the few teams undefeated in the WSGV. I totally agree that SF should go into every game in the WSGV expecting to win. I, for one, can't seem to grasp how SF got beaten out by Arcadia for Kevan Walker. I mean UCLA is a good 45 minutes away from Arcadia/Pasadena and the morning commute must be BRUTAL! but with UCLA 1-2, i bet coach Walker is sleeping in his office right now! In you numerous interviews with Walker, have you ever brought up what made Arcadia the "right" choice?
Anon: You give some very valid points and, yes, I did say things would be different in terms of my choices.
But after thinking about it, I decided to give Alhambra its due this week. As did Arcadia the week before, Alhambra won a game it was picked to lose, and quite impressively. Even with Do in the game for TC, they were moving the ball effectively.
And in terms of just running the football, if they can chew up the clock, with those two backs, that's all they need.
The 1995 Bishop Amat team didn't throw the ball much and I seem to remember them running the ball down opponent's throats.
I've seen Monrovia with Williams and Dwight Smith, and last week I saw Dushine Smith and Brown.
I was impressed with Smith and Brown just a tad more.
And I thought Alhambra's O-Line was a bit more solid.
guy, thats exactly my point.
i dont claim to know everything about football but i know you cant have a good running attack without a decent o-line.
that just reaffirms my point about being one dimensional, unless they brought back the fumblerooski and the o-linemen are scoring TDs in bunches over at alhambra, they are relying on the running game to score TDs and win games.
bottom line, do you think alhambra would beat Saint Francis of La Canada? Plain and simple, answer the question.
Thats why they play the game Anonymous. How do you know who would win. Have you been to an Alhambra game or watched them on tape to see if they're any good. If i went by the past i woulda lost my house thinking St.Francis would own Arcadia again like they have been for the last 5 years. This is a different year and teams change and you keep harping about a two man team. They have a decent offensive line over there if they didnt those two guys wouldnt get nothing.
scott
at arcadia you've got a good lb in todd golper and a pretty stout defensive front
also, troy ahmaz, walker and wilim make arcadia a threat both on the ground and in the air.
at alhambra it seems like they are one dimensional. just a pretty good running game. their passing attack is non existent and their defense is suspect as well. (2 tds to glendale) although a shutout is nice, losing Do makes temple city a pretty weak team.
i just had a problem with you ranking alhambra above SF when you put in your disclaimer that you would choose teams according to who would win.
Alhambra would not beat any good team...........
stop the run, and you win
"TWO MAN TEAM"
I didn't think Arcadia would beat St. Francis and look what happened. Alhambra's two backs are pretty fun to watch, as is Walker.
Quite frankly, as a private school, St. Francis shouldn't lose to any of the area public schools.
you really think alhambra would beat st francis on the field?
