The Skinny
Let's face it, Muir will need to play like the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears put together to be Oaks Christian on the road. Pasadena needs the same type of help to beat Dominguez. Does Rosemead have any chance of making a game of it against Los Altos and can Arcadia snap the St. Francis hex?

What a release to find out a article that might be present at last in fact significance reading! I’ve been seeking all-around concerning this matter except men and women now put junk posts, or short worthless article. I have noticed a couple vids on youtube but it’s now the equivalent as reading a good article.
Hey how are you doing? I just wanted to stop by and say that it's been a pleasure reading your blog. I have bookmarked your website so that I can come back & read more in the future as well. plz do keep up the quality writing
I really like the colors here on your blog. did you design this yourself or did you outsource it to a professional?
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
finchamp
where are you? just want to know whay happened? I 've seen baskersfield play and would have picked rhp to win.. your faster and a over all better team. please shed some light on this...
small school fan
Nice work Dawwg and JV Cats.
JV Update:
Josiah and his warriors take care of Golden Valley HS JV team on Thursday 34-0 in a hill top windy town of Santa Clarita Valley.
M-Town's JV team stepped into an unfamiliar west coast spread offense with no FEAR. Golden Valley now knows where Monrovia HS is from... the great SGV.
Great job gentlemen.
DAWWG
Just know Maranatha fans, my pick is not a slight on your team.
Scott, you are back in with no test required - we will be logging a lot of miles this year, it appears it has been hard to schedule teams close to home.
next week St. M against Mar will be game-of-the-week material I think.
There are a lot of postings about what teams did last year, folks this is 2007 with new players and experiences. What I see this year is several high quality teams that won't get caught off guard by lesser talented teams. Again not teams. There are too many people touting individuals. Fotball is won with 11 players each on defense and offense. All it takes is one DB to blow an assignment or a QB to think he's the next Peyton Manning and thow an ill advised pass. I like "M's" this year, Muir Monrovia nad Maranatha in their respective divisions. The teams have good coaching, speed and are deep in talent. Too many teams tout untested players and this will play out as the year progresses.
MHS gal, no, I don't think I need any test. I just see a team logging a lot of miles to take on a team that already has a win under its belt in its backyard.
I already made my pick, so I can't back out now, but I realize Maranatha has a strong team back this season.
In fact, depending on what happens this week, I'm probably going to pick them against St. Margaret's next week. Although I found out the hard way at my old job that it's may not be wise to bet against a Harry Welch-coached team.
There has to be a reason why Calpreps didn't have a pick on the game?
ScottG -
Escondido over Maranatha? What drove that pick? I hope your boss doesn't find out about this - I think someone needs to be tested, if you get my drift.
UncleBuck,
It's tough to beat a team twice in a season. What happened the second time LaSalle played Verbum Dei? I'm sure LaSalle did not simply give the game away with a bunch of unforced turnovers like Monrovia did in the quarterfinal game (losing by just one score).
Dawwg,
CSI Miami and of course NY are two of my favorite shows. How realistic are those shows?
the real hsftfan,
I have seen the worst of mankind...from fatal vehicle crashes, suicides, murder victims, and victim's of violence.
I mostly meet people in the worst day of their lives.

We both lost....Now how Aunt Sally?....she coming to the game this year?
observantcat-
what was the end result of that second la salle/monrovia game?
Dawg,
CSI, huh? Tough line of work. Man, you probably see the worst of humanity.
Old School Ram,
I will speak for many.
There are a lot of HS COACHES on this blog who are scare to say they are coaches. I know because I speak to them...I just dont know all of them by name. Many of them are ANONS.
I admit to coaching...
I admit to my line of work as a Crime Scene Investigator...
I admit as a true BLOGGER with personal opinions of the game.
Go Cats,
Go Dogs,
DAWWG
Old School Ram,
I was just trying to make a point to other bloggers. It was not directed to you. I have been asked that question several times by other coaches and fans. Just got a little upset because it brought back a situation I had with a Head Coach early in the year. Anyhow, all is Good DAWWG.
Are you going to the game Friday night?
DAWWG
SFHS92,
Thank you for your words after all. I knew you had it in you =]. Good news on the Arcadia article. I just wanted to support my school and get some press on those kids. They do put in work just like every other high school does.
It will be a good game Friday and I'm very excited.
the arcadia / tc scrimmage last Saturday proved nothing, revealed little and basically stirred more questions regarding just what kind of team Backus is going to field. The TC lineup is such that a couple key injuries might steer them to a 50-50 season. On the other hand, if the core of returnees they have step up and bring it all every Friday, they could make it exciting -especially the season ending Monrovia match up. I saw the Monrovia / TC freshman game last year and the upcoming talent lopsides heavily toward Monrovia. Not just the skill poitions, but across the board. The Rams best get all they can this season, their 08 roster will need some re-zoning miracles or mass athletic family migrations to remain competitive - at least in the tradition they are accustomed to. Either way, I would not wager on Arroyo or TC this Friday. The maybes are overflowing, even for those who think they know.
20-12, TC on top.

Get out your calculator, the first Game score was Monrovia 52 LaSalle 19
The Second Game Score was Monrovia 28 LaSalle 35....Still, Remain Anonymous....because to most of us you are just that.
When Monrovia beat la salle then i think they will be able to play against Muir.Does anybody remember how bad La salle beat them....
Don't get so defensive dawwg. I for one really like your insights and you seem to have a solid command of the game. I was just curious to know if there had been any issues from the coaching staff as you are the only working coach with the stones to identify yourself so far this year.
As my grandson likes to say..."It's all good dawwg!"
Minuteman Fan--
Only thing going on in Bakersfield at this time of year on a Friday is high school football. Great stuff! Chances are we will only draw about 200 fans up that far--down from our usual traveling contingent of 300+....
Patience Arcadia fans.
A story was supposed to be in Wednesday's paper, but got held up a day.
The reality of it is; is that there is no article about Arcadia. Im sorry I called you guys little girls. You are just trying to support your team after all. Anyhow hopefully it is a good game and all of the young men playing on both sides of the ball stay healthy.
thanks for the info goteamgo.
Finchamp - are your fans ready for the looooong drive to Bakersfield - be ready when you arrive - they do love their football - and they have great fans.
that falcon meat, CHEW IT CHEW IT, it tastes so good..... MHS is gonna smash on duarte
Do anyone have a status on arcadia's eric willim? I heard he got hurt during the scrimmage.
lol acardia is not gonna beat st.fran. are u guys out of ur minds?...lol and i have a "feeling" Muir is gonna upset OC...with michigan getting shocked by app st. .. it got me thinkin...lol am jus sayin.... :-P
yeah and i think arcadia is missing half their roster theres only about 35 names
Coaches - do you think you could get someone to post your team's roster info on the MaxPreps site? Most teams still have not uploaded their data as of now, while other teams, like Monrovia, have missing info (class, position, height/weight). Nearly all teams posted full roster info in prior years.
sfhs92,
Do u think its right Arcadia shouldn't have an article about their team when almost every other school does? It has almost 4000 kids and a city of over 55,000 people. I believe that it deserves an article talking about the season and the upcoming SF game. If you feel otherwise, you have some serious sharing issues that probably occured during your childhood. Sorry to hear that if so, but I feel like if Monrovia, SF, Muir get an article, Arcadia should too...
I read that blair vs marshall was change to friday night insted of thrusday. When do they play each other thrus or friday?
Dawwg,
I sure hope so. I need to tie up some lose ends first. I'll let you know. You can bet I'll swing by the JV game too.
SFHS92,
No hard feelings but no need to call people "little girls". Thats all. We'll let our play do our talking come friday night. As for an article on Arcadia, I don't care and I think it's better that arcadia is under the radar. There's no need to hype us up after last years record.
New York,
Are you coming down to the AHS vs MHS showdown?
Wake up Stang Fan!!!!
Old School Ram,
I based my score of the Arroyo/TC game as a luck of the draw. I follow all of the SGV schools and read the Mid Valley News. Therefore, I have basic knowledge on who is returning to AHS.
Regarding you second question on my blogging...there is no LAW that prohibits from expressing my freedom of speech on this blog. I dont discuss anything about Monrovia HS on this blog during the football season. I am a volunteer coach for the JV team and assist Coaches Minter and Gredebech and the Freshman level if needed. I keep my distance from any personal opinions I have about MHS.
Next question????
DAWWG
Arcadia visits the Cats' Den on 9/14.
anyone know who monrovia plays 9/14 and where?
Dawwg,
How did you come to the conclusion that TC will lose to Arroyo? What factors do you consider in making that call? For what it's worth I agree with your pick and I think it could be more one sided than your final prediction. Too many weapons return to the knights. Their qb is solid and the defense will be much improved. And despite what many on this blog have said, they will miss Mooney's presence on the sideline big ime.
On a related topic, does coach Garrison mind you being a regular contributor to these blogs in light of you being a member of the MHS staff?
Volleyball coverage is coming, as is water polo.
No need to insult the quality of football. Perhaps if some of the volleyball families had not moved in then the football quality would be higher.
Volleyball Coverage?
lovefootball...I hear what you're saying but is it unrealistic to expect a thread on other sports? Beleive it or not the Star News has a lot of subscribers and this blog has a lot of readers that care about sports other than the third rate high school football played in the West San Gabriel Valley.
I think for once I can speak for most people (at least the ones that count) -
There are no other fall sports worth reporting. ScottG please keep your attention focused on what is most important: FOOTBALL !!!
With the exception of ArcadiaFan, we love the coverage you are providing and for at least 5 months out of each year, we love the P-Star.
Scott, I heard a rumor that area high schools will be participating in sports other than football and the seasons start this week. Will the Star News be covering anything other than football while your around?
scott what do you think about the prep league?
Minuteman Fan -
If I put the numbers correctly into the CalPreps website for match ups, I get a projection from CalPreps of Maranatha 28, Escondido Charter 22.
hsftballfan,
any update on Maranatha?
Stang Fan,
In reference to your post 09-3-07, 10:59pm;
You said, "but I just have this feeling that they (Arcadia) are going to be good."
Feelings are for Palm Readers... allow the talent, game plan, staff history, and 5150 O-line to determine how good a team will be.
Feelings... ??? If that was the case...then every team would have a ring.
DAWWG
What was Maranatha's outcome?
stats? score? game run down?????
Anyone? Anyone? Bueler?
Bueler? Bueler?????
DAWWG
Hey real Im sorry if I offended you but I have never said anything bad about anybody. Its not my fault that the arcadia nation keeps crying about no article in the paper. Also if St Francis loses I won't make any excuses but I bet the Arcadia faithful will make a lot of excuses just like they did last year. By the way what school did you go to?
SF92,
It's too bad that you had to open your big mouth. You never have anything good to say. When SF loses next friday, I guarantee you be full of excuses. I'll go on the record to say that SF will win 3 games this year.

I'm forewarning all bloggers right now: The 2007-2008 Arcadia Apaches are going to be a very, very good football team. Do I think they will win CIF? No. League? No. (Although they have just a good a shot as anyone.) But I'm telling you right now they will be a force to reckon with; and trust me I am no Arcadia-lover.
Walker is going to pose a lot of problems for teams this year, and give Arcadia something they quite frankly have never had. If they can institute a good run game they will be TOUGH!
Their D should be quite steady with a good corp of LB's, a solid line, and a decent secondary.
It could be that I am just trippin' and they will be average, but I just have this feeling that they are going to be good. If they end up losing to both SF and Monrovia, then I'm COMPLETELY wrong. Yet, I believe that they will pull out two W's in those games.
Arcadia fans will you please stop whining about not having an article about your team in the paper. You guys sound like a bunch of little girls. I can't wait to see how much you guys cry after the Golden Knights drop the hammer on your poor apaches again.
can anyone explain why Calpreps does not have a projection for the Maranatha vs. Escondido game?
CV by 14
Arcadia by 1
Monrovia by 7
Arroyo by 12
Alhambra by 38
San Gabriel by 20
The Dons by 40

i agree, the game will be close until walker decides to spread it out.

ScottG,
Where is the Arcadia article? This is the poorest coverage I have seen on them in about the last 5 years! Come on man...
