Since it seems as though the posts separate the small schools from the big one - can we get a thread going for the small school - Poly, RHP, Maranatha etc.- standouts?
Trevor Finchamp, Mark Love, David Vander Laan, Tom Flewelling, Robert Sharpe...

I just don’t understand how Blair can turn it around from their dismal 2 and 8 record , -15 cal preps rating last year and be such a favor with so many here. I just don’t see them running the board and taking the Rio Hondo league. I’m sure they’ll make playoffs but can’t see a 9 and 0 record. They will have 2-3 losses in league.

Anonymous said:

Alhambra must have lost because South El Monte is a powerhouse who played an extremely tough schedule. Why SEM scheduled such powerhouses as Corona Del Mar and San Dimas is beyond me.
Regarding a big time player stuck in a small school. It is possible for a player to transfer unless a player likes being the bmoc at a small school.

One of the areas best all-around backs is BACK:

Keep an eye on Maranatha's MARK LOVE..

He's an incredibly good athlete... Too bad he won't get much attention at the small school.

Also going under the radar is Maranatha's DAVID VANDERLAAN. Another big time athlete stuck in a small program.

Also, you need to stop worring about SM and worry about Blair friday night because when they drop a half of a hundred on you all, you need to start coming up with your they ran up the score on us script.

There are several people on this blog who know who I'am and that I live in SM, who knows you? My quess is you are not only posting as anon but are also one of the named posters from TC, and feel we are all being scammed by you, what a low life. We hope to see you on the field, make sure you hold up a low life sign so we know its you.

I know you love your Mustangs.... but always putting down the RHL does'nt make your league any better. Pacific has peaked this year with talent. Next year you may want to put them around fourth as far as leagues are concerned. And as far as the Tussle...some of the Dawg's are right!..it's not over till it's over....I do see Muir and PHS fighting for the Bell and the Pacific league championship and Arcadia 3rd...and thats just based on pure talent. But as far as leagues go, No SGV league has that sewn up yet. Wait until the end of the season and see where your schools fit in with the rest of the world.

FBismyLIFE said:

i agree with SGV Fb Fan
shouldn't bosco tech be higher in the rankings
they have just come through and become 5-0 i've heard

what's with them being at number 10?

especially with that incredible defense, i would think they would have more publicity...?

raminsider said:

your right joe smith but i recall you guys barely beating the same LS team and TC slaughtering them correct?

F-ball Einstein said:

Note to Blair,
If you want to be the champ you gotta beat the champ. That goes for SM too.

TcGuy said:

TC will contend now as the team finally has it together. Will Do will be coming back for RHL; and there are many starters after last night's game who showed that they deserved to be where their at now. A little late but just in time for league. Blair is a great team this year and I can't want to see next Friday at where TC truly stands with the other teams this season in the RHL. LS qb played well and I agree that LS will progress in the next couple years with this young QB.

Anonymous said:

Nice...San marino has beat a bunch of lousy teams- They prove they can beat bad teams and hold close to a good team.

T.C. proves they can lose to good teams and beat 1 bad team. I don't see how anybody can claim, at this point, that either team is better than the other.

I think its funny how someone brought up enrollment.

F-ball Einstein said:

Ok,
TC was tied with SG at half 6-6. TC was without there best player and head football coach.

SM
Def Gabrielino (1-4)
Def La Salle (1-5)
Def Workman (1-4)
Def Keppel (0-5)
Lost San Gabriel (4-1)

…you do the math.

F-ball Einstein said:

MHS FAN?
At no time did I use the word Program. Your logic makes no sense. La Salle has a good QB, and at the high school level ONE player does make a world of difference, especially if that one player is the QB. I'm not saying they are going to win CIF championships, but that kid has talent and with him La Salle will be competitive in the future. How’s that putting pressure?

Anonymous said:

ok,
Don't forget get to bring home milk for the 4 other families that "share" the house.

goteamgo said:

The only way the higher enrollment at TC helped them beat La Salle was if a higher enrollment means you can get bigger offensive linemen. It could be maybe the cafeteria food at TC grows bigger linemen.

Anyway, TC won the game on the offensive line. They controlled the line of scrimmage, and kept the ball out of La Salle's air attack, which did have some big plays (4 passing TD's). Also, I give TC credit, as they played the match-ups, getting a six foot plus receivers isolated on 5'7" defensive backs. They obviously did some scouting, and looked at game film.

I agree with Goldenarm - it was one game, and no need to pound your chests. While I hate to see La Salle lose, TC did play well.

Joe Smith said:

SM will destroy SP and TC fans are way to cocky. You need to shut up because you guys got blown out by SG and we were close to the end. Prepare to lose and suck it.

I did see what a good SG team did to TC when they slammed them 41-20, or was the game closer than the score......I have to go my wife is calling me to pick out interior colors for our new Yacht, at this rate I will never get the bentley waxed, thats the last time I give the chauffeur the day off.

Goldenarm said:

before my fellow TC supporters lose their minds...remember it was only 1 game. A good win, yes, but easy on the chest-pounding.
There is already another Friday on the horizon...a possible barn burner with Blair. Going in, the kids needed a "W" something fierce..they got one. Enjoy it definitely..but go easy on what it could mean in the grand scheme of things.

SM beat LS when they were at full strength not hobbled like last night. Can't wait to pay back TC for all the years of them running it up on us. the Lambs i mean rams will be slaughtered, with or without Do. SG is 10 x the team the lambs are.

Ah, the dreaded enrollment issue. Yes, it is very true that enrollment does have something to do with success..............but not nearly as much as you'd think. Coaching, community support, and "real football players" are also HUGE factors to have success in this sport. As I've mentioned time and again, with about as much frustration as you have, Muir's shrinking numbers (1200 now) has absolutely hurt our ability to compete on the higher level we ol' Stangs are used to. Yet, we can still compete with a lot of schools who have double and even triple the amount of kids we have.

Trust me when I say I understand your frustration, I feel the same way about Muir, BUT I didn't hear this complaint when you also beat a school with about 1800-1900 kids last week.

spd said:

Just as SM shouldn't be judged (unfairly) by the Keppel score, neither should SP, especially by those not at those respective games. They (SP) did everything they wanted and nothing they didn't need. The TC score notwithstanding (maybe they're peaking at the right time) the one thing that can be said about the RHL this year is that, even if teams aren't quite equal, they all have a shot. How great is that going to be!

From here on out it will come down to two things - game plans (coaching) and desire. Strap on your leather helmets boys, it's gonna be a blast!

Good luck to all, with maybe a little extra wished luck for one.

raminsider said:

anon 9:29
STOP please i told you this would happen. If you are from SM you are scared because you know TC is coming and if you are from LS just stop period. YOU LOST

Anonymous said:

Congrats to TC on their first win. Any time a school with an enrollment of 2100 beats a school with an enrollment of 750...well, that's always impressive.

Anonymous said:

SM was totally outclassed - game wasn't as close as the score. Amazing what happens when SM plays high school teams. Did you see what TC did to the one quality team SM played. Here come the Rams. Bye SM. Back to where you belong and the Rams where they belong. TC back in the top 10. SM out.

Can someone tell me what happpened with Alhambra's big let down against S. El Monte 0-4?

I thought Alhambra had the next coming of barry sanders and that other guy. Thunder and Lightning.

ok said:

Scott,
Good call on SM/SG being game of the week, I was there and very good game even though it did not go
my way, I agree with anon it could have gone either way until the end, but I have to give Props to the SG O-Line, they did a great job.

MHS Fan said:

To F-ball Einstein:One player does not make a "Team". Players also catch the ball, and coaches have a good offensive scheme; they are receiving little credit. If your logic is used, we at MHS have a pretty good Freshman QB, so we will be good for years to come too! Wrong place the emphasis on the entire program and stop putting pressure on a young kid.

Anonymous said:

I have not seen any SM fans downplaying anybody..? If anything the comment about the SP-Keppel score was another dig against SM for "running up the score" on Keppel....just my reading of it. Both SP and SM lost to SG 14-7; SP-SM should be a good matchup this year!

Anonymous said:

I think San Marino's very close loss to San Gabriel only proved that the Titans can hang with a good team and are in fact for real. Had the Matadors walked all over them (as many thought they would) then the claims that SM plays all cup-cakes and isn't really that good would be validated. However, they were in the game till the end and outgained the SG offense. I think that game could have gone either way and really hinged on one play.

Anonymous said:

The reason why SP didn't score more than 42 is because they aren't trying to run the score up. Good job SM you scored a lot of pts. that didn't mean anything, it was Keppel. When you finally play a real team like San Gabriel you guys lost so now what is your guys' excuse? It must be that all your players were focused on getting good SAT scores today rather than trying to win right? No I think it is just that you guys were to high on yourselves when you played horrible teams, and now that you lost and you have nothing to say you are trying to downplay everyone else. We will see you in week 10.

Anonymous said:

What is wrong with SP - why could they only beat Keppel by 42 and SM beat them by 75. I thought it was impossible not to score against Keppel when you have the ball even with the 4th string in.

Arcadia gets it. Unlike well you know.

what a dominant game by the tigers, what looked like to be a horrid end for the tech streak turned out to be a continuation.

the techs defense came away with multiple interceptions that hurt cantwell,

next week starts the del rey league action with bosco tech vs Bishop Montgomery.

p.s. bosco deserves to be higher than 10.... dont u think??

The Rosemead vs. Orange game wasnt even as close as the score indicates. The 'Mead called off the dogs in the 3rd and the refs killed them with 17 penalties.

TC will beat Blair next week!

F-ball Einstein said:

La Salle has a very good sophmore QB. That team will be very competative for years to come.

TC,played well but La Salle is not strong this yr

F-ball Einstein said:

Thats good coaching on the side of Arcadia. The playing time those backups got tonight will be very valuable later in the year and next year. Smart play.

Anonymous said:

Blair will have trouble putting up points against that TC defense.

Anonymous said:

Blair and TC could be a great game...wow...can't wait.

All I can say is WOW! TC beat La Salle and SG beat SM. What a night. I feel sorry for the RHL and anyone who has to play TC.
