Huckster - brother you need to chill.

Having a son that attended St. Francis and played football for St. Francis, I can tell you first hand that this is an outstanding school. You don't judge an education based on the football team man.

I think if you asked any student if they are happy at SF, you would get big thumb's up. It is not easy to get into and the classes are difficult - but the percentage of boys going onto university is very high. They are great kids, the faculty is first rate and our city is very proud to have them.

Your comment about priests was sad and shows your prejudices. SF has a strong football and educational tradition and their games are always packed, for a small school that says it all, right?

Anonymous said:

Dawg 87 i think that SF beat on the bulldogs everytime they played so i dont think hed be better used there

exactly my point - THEY HAVE CONTINUED WINNING BECAUSE OF THOSE WHO HAVE STEPPED UP.

SFGK,

The coaching staff is “SCUMBAGS”? Okay, let’s get this right! There are more people at Pasadena High school that have prospered in “LIFE” over any “Saint Francis” school students! Only the “Priest”! Can touch your son! You people are “Dumb Americans”! Please, If you’re a true American, we are thieves and vicious killers! You’re in our out!

Injuries are part of the game. If football did not have injuries, then every team would WIN. After coaching 14 years, I still dont use the injury excuse regarding a loss. This is why football is the greatest sport of all time and why players wear helmets and pads.

With an injury to a player...the door opens for another player to step up. This is why you train, motivate, execute hard work drills in order to have the back-ups ready for war. Is just like going to battle...BOOT CAMP is no joke day in and day out. Spring ball, SUmmer camp, and HELL WEEK are BOOT CAMP in my book.

Time and again I have stated that Muir hasn't had a quality win, whatsoever (although they're 33-3 drubbing of Buroughs at Burroughs is a little impressive.) I have also said that SF has BY FAR the toughest schedule in the area, AND that no other team in the area would make the playoffs if they had to play that schedule.

Hey, and at least our final score vs. OC was respectable.....33-0 and 33-6 just looks ugly.

Anonymous said:

Stag fan u sure talk alot considering your only tough opponent was OC

Sir, if you think for one second that I would ever in a million years send my young impressionable son over to Pasadena High School to play for a yahoo such as Mr. Mills then you are in fact out of your mind. SF is not only an excellent academic institution but a place of strong morals and ethics. The shenanigans that take place at Pasadena are beyond my comprehension and from what I understand your coaching staff is composed of nothing but scumbags. Mr. Riley is a fantastic young man who has represented our school honorably, and I think he is satisfied and happy with his decision to attend SF. You do know that life extends far beyond the football field and Mr. Riley's intelligent decision to attend SF will help him in the long run. Good luck this week against Loyola, Dietrich and the rest of the Golden Knights, we are really going to pack the house for this one, as usual.

Dawg 87 Style said:

Riley, should have played for PHS where he would have been better used! SFH, is garbage! A lot of people think sending your kids to private school is better and it's not! Preparing your kids at home lessens the mistakes ahead of their lives. I feel sorry for the young lad! The "Knights" are not it!

ScottG said:

Mr. Big: St. Francis is a force in this area, no question about it. Perhaps the Golden Knights can regroup against Loyola after another tough loss.

The Stang Fan said:

i like my schools BIG:

"SF is the top school in our valley! All ways were and always will be."

Bro, you can NOT be serious!!! Man, those guys haven't won a championship in over 40 years.

By the way sfhs92, your ONLY hope for a victory is against Loyola, because you guys are surely coming in last in your league....Herrington has those boys at Alemany going right now. Like i said before 3-7 or 4-6 (again with the caveat that no one else in our area would go to the playoffs with that schedule.)

i like my schools BIG said:

scott, there is a serious problem. you are so focused on sharing the wealth... even with the little guys that the teams that truly deserve the ink aren't getting it!!

St Francis is the top school in our valley! they are top dog... always was and always will be!
Scott, they are not even on the scoreboard!!

the ratio should be 90% for St Francis, the Pacific League teams in our valley and Monrovia and T.C.

The last 10% should be divided up amongst the rest of the teams. Not does this satisfy the readership, it also represents the relative strength of the programs!

Just wondering... how does your percentage look like? To me it looks like 50-50 Big and Small schools.

Anonymous said:

How come SF and Notre Dame are not on the score board?

Bayou Vol said:

I think I'd put money on Monrovia's JV team beating their own varsity squad...why don't they move those kids up?...could not have hurt them in the first 5 weeks.

Bayou Vol said:

I really hope Blair wins and makes things interesting in the RHL this year. I think, however, that this will be a facade of a "game of the week." Now that TC has their big man back, I don't see them losing. Their depth will overtake Blair in the second half when all those guys going both ways are dog tired. Blair will keep it close for 2-3 quarters, but TC will ull away and Blair will go back to being Blair.

Goldenarm said:

ATOMIC DAWWG
no doubt your JV crew is on the the top of the heap.

TC JV is 4-2 with a couple close game losses. They have lost 5 or 6 key starters due to injury, etc. The kids were victorious over Blair yesterday, primarily because of a slug it out ground game.
What was the final score vs So. Pas?

lovefootball said:

I think SF vs. SOND should be game of the week but, and I love SF, the GN's get hammered when ever these two teams play. Wait until the Loyola game - that will be a war.

If TC is at a complete disadvantage because of ONE player being out, maybe this is still not their year? I think a team should be able to win even if they are a little short handed - don't they have a back up running back?

I think Blair will win. If the TC coaching staff can't come with a game plan to work without their star, they deserve 1-5.

Anonymous said:

monrovia is so terrible they have to resort to the jv scores to stroke their egos.

face it, monrovia fans just have to eat crow this season.

ATOMIC DAWWG said:

JV Update:

Monrovia's JV (6-0) knocked off South Pas, who was 4-1 coming into M-Town's house with high hopes of being 1-0 in league. MHS running and passing attack were too much for the Tigers. The WILDCATS led 27-0 at the half and utilized 2nd and 3rd string QB's in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Coach Gredebech's defense were too nasty on the line and at the LB positions. The D played with heart and used the proper techs off the ball. The TEAM played as a TEAM and most important, they had FUN. Next week MHS-JV travels to LC for last season's payback.

Go CATS.

Vy King,
Is that how they teach you how to spell Viking at Blair?

sfhs92 said:

Raminsider i do know how to use the blog the guy i was responding to was TCGUY. You say how can you look past Notre Dame because anyone will tell you that if SF wins only one game the Loyola game is the one to win. Most of the kids on both teams know each other well and are not very fond of eachother. I wasnt knocking any athlete from either team I hope it is a good clean game and that both teams play well.

Vy King said:

Why is everyone saying that the fab freshman of player doesn't pass. He doesn't pass often but when he does he's dangerous. He's something likd 15-19 on the season. The Blair Pair of Reyes and Fuller could strike at any second and they aren't even the fastest or second fastest on the team! Speed kills...Speed Kills...Blair 2007-2008 CIF Champions...Remember Me!

TcGuy said:

good point SFHS92 I did not even say anything about Blair/TC being rivals but they are respected. Go blog with the 'elites,' if thats the way you feel. Oh also, yeah I think everyone can agree that ND or SF can leave no doubt against TC or Blair on the field. But coming from schools that can recruit against public high school football programs in the valley who are not allowed to do that legally; come on it doesn't take a Einstein to figure that one out buddy. We are dealt with what public schools have and the teams roll with it. I was going to say that Notre Dame was going to smash on SF anyways. "Get over yourself SFHS92?" - This part of the blog is about Blair/TC in which Blair deserves its coverage. I dont see anything about SF/ND on this PARTICULAR BLOG. So..whats up SFHS92? You make it sound like you don't hold a lot of respect for Blair/TC when in fact on the field they're all football players; its wrong how you would even post up about SF/ND if you know the outcome of it already...sounds like you just like to see yourself talk or in this case, blog.

How do you look past Notre Dame... Last time i checked, they had several bigtime recruits, and were one of the top teams in all of California... Forget two touchdowns, SF is gonna get drilled

Dawg 87 Style said:

Oh, JohnM, everything is okay in Iraq. That's why you voted for our "INTELLIGENT" president Bush!

Dawg 87 Style said:

JohnM,

Blair has no balance and that will come back to haunt them. To add to my point, no freshman QB from Blair will beat "PHS"! I've given them their props, with 8 men in the box and the type of scoring we would do; would put them out of their game! If they (Blair) don't develop a passing game it's going to be tough in the RHL.

raminsider said:

sfhs92,
learn how to use the blogs. to find out who wrote the blog look at the bottom right of the post. GET OVER YOURSELF

JohnM said:

Dawg...while I admire your support for PHS I think your assesment of the football team is like President Bush saying everything in Iraq is going well.

Dawg 87 Style said:

I'm glad to see Blair doing great since the 2004 season where they went 5-5 and were competitive in every game. I think Devin Fuller is the #1 player in the area! He could easily start at Muir, Pasadena or anywhere else in the area the boy can flat out play! I give nothing but props to the Vikings, just don’t say yall can beat the Dogs! Keyon, will be a great player in the future, but if we (The Dogs) played them we would probably beat them by 4 or 5 touchdowns. Blair has a great running attack, but lack of a passing game in the RHL league will earn them 2nd or 3rd place finish. Go Vikings!

ScottG said:

Temple City may be 1-4, but they've played all but five quarters without their star player and somehow drilled La Salle last week. The key to this game is Blair's been weak in the past, and Temple City is the two-time defending league champs.

Anonymous said:

Maybe the Alverno Boys of St. Francis can be game of the week next week?

Goldenarm said:

sfhs92,

Forget about "rivalry" as being the ONLY criteria for picking a game of the week.

If you have followed the local prep scene you could list 20 reasons why Blair / TC is so eagerly anticipated, talked about - and potentially a big-time entertaining 4 quarters of football. There is a pile of maybes on the table - and some will soon get answered.

Come Friday night, there will be max adrenalin pumping through the kids at these two schools. It has already begun as a slow drip.

SGVfootball said:

Lets be real here. They barely beat Rio Hondo Prep. Blair deserves to get the attention their getting until someone knocks them off. TC down or not...will be tough task for Blair to defeat. I'm going to go with TC. I hope Blair proves me wrong.

Maranatha has a football team?

sfhs92 said:

Get over yourself Tcguy? I dont think that sf vs nd should be the game of the week either because this isnt even a rivalry. I couldnt tell you the last time sf beat ND. To make a rivalry both teams need to win every once in a while. But to be honost with you both of these teams would dominate TC and Blair. With ST Francis' schedule this year you could make an argument that every one of their games could be the game of the week. Unfortunately I think SF loses to Notre Dame by a couple TD's. I think that they are looking forward to their game vs. Loyola.

JohnM said:

Newspaper coverage of an athletic team is like respect, it's earned. If Maranatha puts together an impressive winning streak the Star News will be there to write all about it.

TcGuy said:

Hey Blair is a great team this year; and the Blair v. TC game should be the game of the week. SF and ND? SF is SF, this is Blair; whatever happens in the end of this friday night's game happens, and it'll be a lot more interesting than the SF ND game. Temple City Football and I feel that Blair hasn't done well in the past seasons but Everyone knows that Blair has players who want to play football, and they have a lot of talent and Heart. Whatever seasons that Blair had in the past; at least they went Suited Up and played whatever outcome it was.

Anonymous said:

im surprised the game of the week isnt SF ND its a big rivalry they havnt played for a year

Philly B. said:

Maybe if you guys had players with showing coverage maybe he would but like I said the Blair story is much more intriguing, and Im sure with all the stuff thats talked about blair year after year Im sure they owe blair before they owe Maranatha

Anonymous said:

Philly
maranatha is a small private school and scott owes us for his lack of coverage.

Philly B said:

I Say this game is perfect for game of the week. Anonymous Why would Maranatha be game of the week. You know How bad Blair has been??? They've been a bad team since 2000 and probably longer than that but thats when I started getting into h.s. football, so this is more of a compelling story and game cuz if Blair could upset T.C. thats huge no matter what you say. YEah temple City is 1-4 but they have tradition Blair does not thats why this is game of the week and no one cares about maranatha game this week

Anonymous said:

I cannot believe that Maranatha isn't one of the games of the week.

Anonymous said:

I didn't know you could silence critics by beating a 1-4 team. Well there mustn't be that many critics in the world left if that is the requirement.

Kingofcali626 said:

If Blair wants to silence thier critics and doubters this is the game to do it.

Goldenarm said:

The mistakes, losses, injuries and many other pre-league challenges and adversity have helped to mold TC into a competitive unit.
Their record is far from the TC norm entering league play.
I would expect Blair to be sky high and ready to make their mark loud and clear. If TC is able to shut down the big play and keep it close, they will earn a victory and sound a clear message to the RHL.
On the other hand, if Blair jumps an early lead and begins cooking up a special teams highlight reel - TC could get beaten by 20 or worse. If so, Blair would be sending out word - and leaving no doubt.

This game is a must see.
