This one phrase invites visitors to reply openly and lacking limitation assuming that these replies fall inside selected boundaries. This amazing sentence consists of a world-wide-web in-joke that will not reasonably fit the topic.

I'm not aware of the PHS coach needing an excuse. His comments in the paper didn't sound like him making excuses. I did see PHS play and Merrill was the impact player on that team. I can't imagine them doing very well without her.

Looks like the Rose Court will provide an excuse for the Pasadena coach this season.
Arcadia overrated? No.
Pasadena overrated? YES. They'll be lucky to finish 3rd in the Pacific.

Maranatha clearly has talent. Teanna and Nicolette are both very strong passers and they have some very good hitters as well. The setter (coaching?) could do a better job of setting match-ups and setting the hot hitter in the *front* row. It is a shame that Maranatha is not playing Mayfield this year as their schools are only a few blocks away from each other. I think it would be a good match. Perhaps an edge might go to Mayfield this year because of their depth.

I also saw the FSHA v. Mayfield games this past summer. FSHA was clearly the better team at that point. Their senior leadership and experience was evident. FSHA's setting is perhaps the best in this area. Their hitters are top-notch as well. Also, they have a number of players who have spent a great deal of time together since early in their club careers.

Maranatha High School takes Third at Whittier High School Tournament. They were knocked out by a tough Diamond Bar team. Troy High took the tournament by barely beating Diamond Bar. Locals Taylor McLeod and Kimmie Van Spronsen made the all-tournament team. Strong showing from Teanna Robinson, Erin Johnson, and Nicolette Tsukamoto.

Somebody stop hoarding all of that volleyball information. Somebody out there has info on a good game or good player that they've seen lately. Share the wealth Volleyball fans...League, Tournament, whatever!??

Arcadia Voleyball is overated. Proven last year by PHS. Go back to the previous blog; I will restate that AHS still has good coaching; however the talent is not there. In the past Arcadia had superior talent and always scheduled cup cakes. Now its time to face equal or better talent and they cannot respond. You can't live off your reputation forever. No disrespect intended, again just a reality check

Valley Christian beat Brentwood. Maranatha beat Whittier Christian. The Pacific league is any ones guess.

Village looks like the front runner with tough outside hitters and a deceptive setter.

Maranatha might have a chance over a really tough Village Christian team if they start setting their money players. Oddest offense I've ever seen. They play keep-away from the outside hitters and have to work way too hard to score. Also, without the frontline doing any real blocking their libero is getting pounded.

Burroughs and Arcadia could go deep in the playoffs, but both are a notch below Elsinore.

Mayfield would give FSHA a very good game.

Anonymous said:

summer league is next to meaningless especially with the private schools - more than half the team is missing.

Anonymous said:

I think Rose Court got some of those Arcadia players...princesses are more important than winning league...stunner there

Anonymous said:

What other match-ups happened tonight? How do the teams look?

Anonymous said:

Guess Burroughs is the real deal. Perhaps Arcadia is overrated?

FSHA played Mayfield in Summer league. See the La Canada Valley Sun article dated July 25th, 2007. FSHA won the first game 25-19 and finished that game with an 18-5 run after being down 14-7 They won the second game 25-18 and Mayfield was never in it. FSHA was up at one time 15-4. They weren't blowouts but you would not call the games close. Generally when one team beats another team in this fashion you have to call the winner...the better team....Yep!!

burbanksports said:

Burroughs 3
Arcadia 0

How did the first day of league games go? Any details from those who attended?

Anonymous said:

FSHA vs Mayfield wouldn't be a contest. These teams are no where close. Mayfield vs Westridge (again) might be a closer match.

Anonymous said:

I would like to see FSHA play Mayfield

Jim said:

Flintridge Sacred Heart is still the team to beat in the area. At the same time they might have a tough time matching up against Santa Barbara, Dos Pueblos..and possibly Harvard Westlake. There good...just not sure if there the #2 team in there divison.
