Excellent info. Thank you, have a nice day!

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your thoughts? I mean, what you say is important and everything. But its got no punch, no pop! Maybe if you added a pic or two, a video? You could have such a more powerful blog if you let people SEE what youre talking about instead of just reading it.

Cool article ! You havemade some very interesting statements and I am thankful for the the effort you have put into your writing. It's clear that you know what you are talking about. I am excited to read more of your sites content.

Cool, there is actually some worthwhile points on this post some of my friends will maybe find this useful, I must send them a link, thank you.

The rankings were from last week. South Pas was struggling prior to last week.

Hey Scott- I think people are having a hard time with the boys and girls combined blog. Looks to be some confusion.

anonymous said:

south pas killed maranatha and flintridge prep and has won 4 in a row with an injured All RH 1st Team player from last year.
their ranking does not do them justice

Anonymous said:

Hold on Chuckles - Maranatha has never beaten a Rio Hondo League team. I wouldnt start with the best team that league and go popping off. These Maranatha guys are .......

maranatha would kill LC did you see what Maranatha did to Temple City?

Maranatha is the school by far in the SGV.

RA Parent said:

Dena Fan,

No one cares about playing RA, yet you insist we should have played in the Rose City Classic. And when we would have played PHS during their own tournament, would you STILL be saying no one cares??
Just like everyone says summer doesn't matter when RA beat PHS then?

By they way, PHS and others have scouted RA MANY, MANY times. I've seen them all in the stands.

How about being happy that we have two top teams in the Pasadena area who are both generating a lot of attention. Both schools benefit as does the community as a whole.

Or is it more important to you to bash our kids and school than to look for the positives??

So you're telling me that Etiwanda (at home), La Canada (neutral site) and Simi Valley (neutral site) didn't care about playing RA? So are you telling me that Pasadena didn't care about playing Burbank the first time?
Have you seen Combs this year?
Don't get me wrong, Pasadena is the class of the Valley, and has a good shot at repeating, but, unless you've seen RA play this year, don't judge them from last season.

Dena Fan. Please read my other post. it breaks down both team's schedules. RA did upgrade their schedule. They played whoever would play them locally. They've played three super small schools, but one has a winning record. Pasadena has a tougher schedule, but it's not by a whole lot in the long run.
You'll notice L.A. Marshall is right down their with L.A. Adventist (RA's cream puff) at the bottom of the state rankings.
And you're missing the point. It doesn't matter who they're playing, they're 10 times better than they were last year when they went to a title game, and continue to improve, just like Pasadena.
They also pounded the team that Pasadena somehow lost to the first time around, Burbank.
And if you're now saying no one wants to play them because they have an advantage, then you can't really blame them for who they play, now can you?

Dena Fan said:

I'll say this again. Etiwanda, LCHS anyone playing Renaissance doesn't care what the outcome is. Its meaningless. Therefore, they don't go to mary mothers sister of the parting clouds hs to scout renaissance. On the other hand renaissance scouts those teams multiple times which gives them as an independent school an advantage. No one wants to play them because they have an advantage.
Its a wonder why most of the players are from Pasadena. Where's the persuasion coming from. can you say "undo influence".
This is supposed to be renaissance's big year with all returning so why wouldn't they play a better schedule. Rose City classic might be a good start. If you really think about it you will understand what I mean. PS- Yader Coombs throws more balls against the wall than he does to his teamates. All flash and no skill. And stop looking for your girlfriend in the stands! Would agree with you on stover's improvement and always liked justin cooke. He would be better under Hofman or Tucker, though.

Viking Fan said:

I think last night Blair's girls proved they deserve their ranking.

Dena Fan: Just to add on the rankings. Prior to the beginning of the season, I went with Renaissance Academy based on what it had returning.
At the time, I never truly expected them, based on what they looked like a year ago, at staying there too long. But RA is a lot better than last season's team, and have been playing short-handed.
RA goes about eight to 10 deep and brings it on defense (when they want to).
It's hard to go against them. And that's coming from someone who was accused of dissing RA and wanting them to lose to La Canada.

Dena Fan. Let's not get overboard here. Pasadena is on a roll and playing good ball right now, that's a given. But they lost to Burbank, a team RA drilled, before waking up. A weak schedule doesn't make RA a weak team. Both teams have gotten better over the course of the season. Does RA play an overall weak schedule, yes. But at least this year they tried to improve the schedule. As an independent, they can't help it if nobody wants to play them. Although its schedule, overall, is better, Pasadena's had its share of patsies as well. New post to follow.

RA Fan said:

RA is ranked 14th in the STATE by CalHiSports. #1 in DIV3 by CIF. ANd #1 in D5 by CalHiSport. They've earned the #1 ranking by the Star News.
Nobody was complaining when Pasadena was number one forever and a day. Which they earned and more power to them. Now it's a problem? Now our coach is running from teams? Whatever.

I'm sure Etiwanda, Simi Valley, Reseda, Burbank, La Canada, Maranatha, Brentwood, Santa Barbara and Keppel wouldn't appreciate being considered pansies.

We've played teams from all divisions and sizes. And STILL people hate on our boys.

It will all come out in the wash when playoffs come around anyway. Right?

Is the Marshall coaching staff that clueless? With a remote chance of winning a tie for the league title if they beat Maranatha and Maranatha would have beat Pac Hills this Thurday, Marshall, Marantha and Pac Hills all would have finished 6 and 2. Coming into the second half last night Maranatha went on I beleive a 10-0 run which put them up by 16. At no time did Marshall call timeout or make adjustments during this 10-0 run. As a matter of fact the Marshall coach took out the 2 top scorers. He finally called timeout which was much to late as the game was over. Marshall's coaching staff set on the bench as though they didn't care as the players played as hard as they could with no direction. Coach Delaurie states this is a selfish team, we'll guess where they got selfishness from? Maranatha has outcoached Marshall the last couple of years. I know given who's coaching that is not hard to do but make some adjustments. Marshall has gone from the second best team in the city 2 years ago to a team that gets no respect.

Renaissance lost to Etiwanda in overtime at Etiwanda on a questionable call and to Simi Valley. Max Preps has these two teams ranked 9th and 10th in the state. If Renaissance and Pasadena were to play It would be a very good game.

Dena Fan said:

How do you rank Renaissance ahead of Pasadena when the they have such a weak strength of schedule. Phs losses include a 3-point loss to Santa Margarita(#4 in state), one point loss to clovis west(perennial state power), Franklin of Seattle(#19 in the nation) and Newark memorial(Norcal top 20). Now they shouldn't have lost to Bhs but remember most of the team are underclassmen and they are 11-1 in league now. Renaissance plays a team called Van Nuys Center, twice and other pansies(check their schedule on Maxpreps). Everyone knows that Sid Cooke runs from competition. Even his own players get tired of playing such weak teams. Basketball is the ultimate competition sport, even high school kids get sick of 30-point blowouts against Sacred Hearts lady of the hills high school. Here's another thought. Its easier to play teams that are not in your league. renaissance scouts teams multiple times when they are playing their league schedule and prepares for days before. The other teams play renaissance and never see them play because they are not in a league. Just ask La Canada High School. What would you prepare for, a league championship or a meaningless game with a school you never heard of. Come on Scott. This shows that you're not very smart. Its like ranking Hawaii higher than USC in football. Fred had more sense.

NY,

My answer to you is simple. Four coaches in four years. Can you believe that? Meanwhile, on the other side of town you have Tucker who has created a pretty dominant force which obviously doesn't bode well for us. On the bright side, from what I understand the new guy at Muir, Idris Jones, is doing the best job with what he has (he literally started in November)and is really trying to reach out to the community to let parents know that he isn't going anywhere and will be bringing the respect back to the hardwood.

BTW, don't forget the likes of Stacy Augmon, Eric McWilliams, Kirk Wagner, L. Smith, Mike O'Quinn, Ryan Hollins, etc.

It's sad Fred left the star news, because his blogs were much more active, and he updated them much more often. You scott have only updated the boys basketball forgetting about waterpolo, girls bball, boys soccer, and a blog that was nearly as popular as the football blogs girls soccer.

Thanks

Anon: what makes you say that Blair is overrated? I actually was quite impressed with them the other night. Tonight's the big test, however.

Viking Fan said:

How is a record of 16-5 overall, 6-1 in league and the fact that we've beaten 5 of the other top 10 teams overrated?
