Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

Between me and my husband we've owned extra MP3 players through the years than I can rely, together with Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & contact), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. However, the previous few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? As a result of I was glad to discover how effectively-designed and enjoyable to make use of the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Great post, Information about these Issues Always seem to make my day better!

Not complaining Anonymous poster. Stating a fact that I haven't had the time needed to research next football season. Fred has a little more time since he has another full-timer working with him, while I've been shorthanded for almost two months. That's changing this week.

I get what you mean New York. And, again, be patient. I'll be posting on football soon.

Haven't heard much. I need to start talking with my contacts from the program. Word on the street is that their linebacker Golper is going to Stanford. Don't know if its true but thats the last thing I heard.

I read on Rivals.com that Kevan Walker is a soft verbal to UCLA now.

I'll try to find out some more. You are right! Arcadia should be fielding 50+ kids. Don't know if they will or will not but that is a question I will have answers for.

New York said:

Scott,
I certainly realize that you are working hard over there. I just question the Return On Time you are realizing for your efforts (similar to return on investment, ROI). For instance, any football story or topic gets a bunch of hits. I'm not really sure what second place is, but it seems like there are many stories with no comments in them.

I know we are blessed with many sports other than football, but football is unique because a greater number of people play it than any other single sport and therefore there are a greater number of football alumni. Furthermore, we play fewer games so therefore each game is more meaningful.

LA times all SGV:

SGV All-Star football team
Selecting an all-area team is hard (coming up with our team was not easy). So, I understand that the guys at the SGV and the PSN did not have an easy job.

Especially at the SGV, where there were four or five players that could have been players of the year. Selecting all-area teams is never easy.

Having said that, I think Charter Oak's Kanaan Snowden was the area's best player and San Dimas' Bill Zernickow was the area's best coach this season. I'm not trying to play Saturday Morning Quarterback, but that's just my opinion.

Glendora's Mark Pasquarella and Blair's Lavelle Sanders are terrific choices, they brought back a winning attitude to programs that had lost their swagger. Zernickow, though, made believers of his kids and the kids (who told me they were the laughing stock of the school before this year) made believers out of their classmates. It's was an incredible turnaround year for the Saints, that's why he would have been my pick.

I guess it's only fair now that I out put together my own team, right? Here it goes. Oh, feel free to comment on my selections as I obviously have no problem in commenting on other peoples' selections.

Offense

QB- Cameron Deen (South Hills)
RB- Dorian Wells (South Hills)
FB- Willie Youngblood (Muir)
WR- Arness Ikner (Pasadena)
WR- Brandon Parham (South Hills)
TE- Ray Rodriguez (Los Altos)
OL- Dominique Austin (Bishop Amat)
OL- John Earnest (South Hills)
OL- Austin Sefton (Glendora)
OL- Alex Reitnouer (St. Francis)
OL- Jonathan Silva (Alhambra)

Defense

DL- Bryan Bonilla (Diamond Ranch)
DL- Kebin Umodu (South Hills)
DL- John Patton (Muir)
DL- Garrett Bowdry (Glendora)
LB- Mike Howard (Charter Oak)
LB- Damon Kuklinski (South Hills)
LB- Todd Golper (Arcadia)
CB- Kevan Walker (Arcadia)
CB- Kanaan Snowden (Charter Oak)
FS- Deitrich Reily (St. Francis)
SS- Ryan McMahon (Damien)

K- E.J. Macias (South Hills)
P- Macias and Snowden

AP- Jiovanni Mier (Bonita)

Because I had Macias and Snowden take on the role of punters that allowed me to add an All-Purpose player. I added Mier because he can play wide receiver, DB, also punt and kick and play running back. He's also a solid shortstop and pitcher, who's fastball is in the high 80s to low 90s.

Honorable mention: Troy Ahmaz (Arcadia), Nico Barbone (San Dimas), Dominic Blanco (Charter Oak), Tommy Cogburn (South El Monte), Tyron Crockom (Pasadena), Eric Glaster (South Hills), Lars Guillermo (Arcadia), Michael Harrison (Pasadena), Kyle Lengyel (Diamond Rach), Nick Longoria (Los Altos), Bryce Mahmud-McBride (Los Altos), Rueben Thomas (Muir), Brent Seals (Bishop Amat), Brandon Sermons (Diamond Ranch) and Sean Veal (South Hills).

Big A,

What's the news around arcadia? Any new kids around campus gonna play? We have to field a team with at least 50. There's always depth issues & tons of injuries when we enter CIF.

Is that the new star character that just popped up?
Any information is appreciated, online or in the paper. I track several interests (cycling local and in Europe, high school and college softball and water polo) even a little football. It makes the sports much more interesting as the seasons play out.
Football is big but everybody does that. The blogs get information out fast on just about anything. Scores and interesting articles will help it from just being "my team is better than your team" tunnel vision. That will bring people back.

FredJ said:

Scott, I think we have the same sports on our side of the valley, unless something changed. But it all starts and ends with football, though I'm surprised there isn't more girls soccer conversation over here. That was a heated topic last season.

That might be true Freddy, but we have other sports on this side of the valley besides football. :)

BigA said:

Lets get another football blog on next years teams and how they look...starting with the a VERY VERY VERY early top 10!

FYI Scott, post any football thread, and it will triple any other topic you post ...

Tough game, we're currently working on a way to get our box scores online each night. We finally just hired a tech person full time in sports, so hopefully we can continue to improve the site. By the way folks, don't know if you heard, but Mark Verti at Bishop Amat resigned today. Wonder who's next in the hot seat?

New York, I've been putting other topics. You just like talking football :) which is OK with me. I saw that on Fred's blog too. Too bad it wasn't this year. I hope you realize that I've been busy covering the other sports that are going on. So I'm not ignoring you. Just be patient.

An online source for local scores would be great. OC Reg does a good job for OC but have not seen anything similar for our area.

New York said:

Scott,
How about bringing over some of the other topics as well? I like that Muir and Diamond Ranch will play in week zero.
