Temple City shut out Arcadia. Looks like Arcadia is going to struggle when Bryce isn't pitching.
la salle monrovia was a close game the whole time. A great pitchers dual by kyle mares and jeff wallick. La salle just came up with the big plays and played small ball while monrovia made to many mistakes and couldn't cash in the runs when it mattered
la canada looked good with a 15-4 win over north hollywood without 2 of their starters not at the game due to SAT's... LC recieved a big home run by max sheatzle and big hits by Bryan Collins, Charlie Banks, Michael Weston, and Jeff Oeschel.... John Ondrejka also went 3 for 3 and stand out picthing by pete williams

jeez, monrovia destroyed weak, unranked la salle today in the elks tournament.... oh wait. they didnt. la salle upsets the #2 seed in the CIF division.
Ramirez and Rutherford came out flat? They combined for 17 strikeouts and Rutherford gave up two hits in a loss (a bunt single and a bloop double). That was quite a baseball game considering it was the season opener.

T.C. missing the playoffs? That's ridiculous. It's probably going to be (T.c., Monrovia, and La Canada)... Rob Hertel is a great coach.. so I think South Pas has a shot to make some spoilers during league play... and San Marino is going to be strong.. yet not strong enough to power through to the postseason because they will be making adjusments to a new coach this year... Monrovia is monrovia.. so they will be strong.. la Canada might have a shot to play the spoiler as well cause they have potential and all the pieces.. but we don't know if it's going to be together... t.c. is young and inexperienced... but that's not going to be there for that long.. cause of a good coach in Barry BAcon... and is Blair not in RHL anymore? lol... btw Alhambra and Arcadia came out flat today.. especially Noe and Rutherford... but in the end.. it turned out to be a pitcher's duel.....

SGV, why don't you just come out and say what you really want to say? Stop hinting around the issues you say will soon become evident and start with the facts.
The RHL is going to be loaded with numerous tight games this year. Don't be surprised if TC misses the playoffs even though they arguably have the top pitcher. So Pas will finally win a few games, but not enough. My prediction for the teams who will make the playoffs (but order is too close to call, so alpha here) - LC, Monrovia and SM.

In an educational environment, there are deal breakers that shouldn't lead to a "second chance". Drugs and illegal gambling are among those. Anyone who has experience with Parisi who thinks he's learned from this is sadly mistaken.
Give it two years and see if the rooting section is still there. Stuff will resurface before then because he loves to talk. And the stuff he's saying around town shows he hasn't learned a thing. Hey, as long as he wins ball games, right?
bottom line... its gonna be a great tournament
la canada is going to be tough team to beat... solid all around great hitting team... stand out pitchers in smith murphy in williams... look out for juniors collins smith oeschel russel banks kim... also senior ondrejka he is a stud la canada will be a tough team to beat

Monrovia program is one of the best in the SGV period! They been great for the past 11-12 years!
The two best games of the tourney is Alhambra vs Arcadia and than Arcadia and TC Saturday night. S.F. can bring their j.v. team to play San Gabriel and save their pitching for the next game but than again S.F. got beat last year by a bad PHS team..

As a parent of a PHS baseball player, all I see is a man teaching kids baseball. Good baseball, which is what PHS needs. Parisi cares about building the program back to what it should be. Give the guy a break and let him do his job.
lets not forget parisi has a great asst in coach bourne. he is a muir standout legend. pasadena will be in great shape.
I don't know anything about this Parisi guy except what I have read on the star news. I think that people who are educators and involved with kids need to be held to a higher standard. These kids he is around are in an a phase of their lives where they are looking to adults for guidance. He obvioulslty has had some issues with judgement in the past.
Where's the love for La Canada's baseball team? They're loaded with solid juniors who will give Monrovia and Temple City a run for the Rio Hondo League crown. Add a couple of strong senior pitchers in Murphy and Williams and they should be there at the end. It all starts this week. Good luck to all the team and have some FUN!!!
The game was a scrimmage and wouldn't have counted on either team's record, so I'm sure that's why. A lot of fields were in bad shape over the weekend.
WHAT?????? San Gabriel / South El Monte...are you kidding me? Do they even have baseball teams at those schools? When is the last time either of those schools put a half way competitive team on the field?

Months ago when you mentioned Parisi, he was considered for the job at PHS. We announced he was hired right after it became fact with the Pasadena School District, which ultimately approved his hiring. Even Freddy came on here and said that he was in the running, but not hired yet. In terms of patterns, I don't know what to tell you. So you're saying there's new news regarding Parisi? Scott: Per your implication that I'm an anti-Pasadena person, you couldn't be further from the truth. I'm against people like Parisi who ruin the good name of high school athletics and those who turn a blind eye to it. With Mills and now Parisi, there's a troubling pattern taking place at PHS.
Trust me...dig more on Parisi and you'll find some interesting stuff going on with him even as we speak. Months ago, I told you he was hired at PHS, so I'm not just whistlin' Dixie here.

No, that's not it at all. There wasn't any new news to report. If there is new news down the road, the news department will be all over it. Bottom line, if Pasadena wants to give him a second chance, that's their choice.

Well, everyone deserves a second chance in life. We can only hope that parisi learned from his first experience. It will be a interesting season to say the least.
"Let's move on" is double speak for "We don't want to deal with this because Pasadena schools are a huge part of our base and we don't want to tick them off."
It's irresponsible to not explore this story further, especially given the circumstances he left Arcadia under and the "win at all costs" mentality that is seemingly in place at PHS. They hid the hiring (which was a done deal months ago) to avoid public backlash until it was too late to hire someone else and hoped that it would just go away...and this paper is complicit in it.
Real questions haven't been asked like, "Why did they do this?" PHS has everything to lose and nothing to gain. If he has a decent season, he's gone to the next school. If he goes and pulls the same stuff at Pasadena that he did at Arcadia, it's another public relations fiasco. Where does Pasadena reap any benefits in this hiring?
Seriously, you're doing a disservice to your readers and the community by just wanting to "move on". If the path of least resistance works best for you, then so be it.
