FOOTBALL: Who are the best juniors?
It appears senior to be Todd Golper is among the top returning players for next season.

The big question, who else will be the players to watch?

The fashion scene by the recession of designers has changed affected must be amended to retailers and consumer priorities. But this does not mean people have stopped shopping. In fact, accessories, luxury Fake Replica Handbags are particularly now developed further. Brands such as Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Chanel seem relatively unaffected by the economic situation. Instead of buying fashionable clothes that will quickly go out of fashion, consumers are turning to the accessories to make the most out of your wardrobe. In addition, a good sleeping bag everything for daily use, so that women are a good choice and select investment portfolios that will last a long time are.

Wonderful to read!
Terrific blog post, even so In my opinion you could enhance all of this content together with some videos and pics comparable to they do in various other websites I've looked at
You may not be able to wear them for as long as a classic sandal, but we all agree that fashion sandals are a must have in a girl's summer wardrobe.
The thigh boots could be worn with short as well as long dresses. With short dresses these would accessories the legs and with the long ones, it would be able to protect from the cold and chill, allowing the skirts to be worn in winters as well.
I have got to say i saw this kid joey jackson play and he is a beast. He was all over the place d-end, linebacker, receiver, cornerback, and he also played safety. This kid is going to have a break out season and will put his name on the map. A true dog fan
I clearly think that the best juniors are going to be Davonte Laflore, JaQuan Hamilton,Joey Jackson, all from PHS. I also think rueben Thomas (bingo)and Markus Graves, but please stop all the hateing. we need to support all of the area athletes no matter what school you attend. I am sure there will be alot more hateing and alot of negative comments about these talented athletes at p.h.s especially if you haters are going to comment on a young mans grandfather and his family. The proof will be in the pudding so heres to a healthy season and a exciting one. I forgot about evan king a talented player.
After reading the blogs, I am glad that PHS is still not on the radar for you football fans!!! This is going to be a great year, but, please believe me when I say it, the new class of Seniors are at a different level. So save all of the commentary New York, I'm pretty sure I know who you are and don't let the smooth taste fool you! There is a lot of heart on that PHS team. So, Joe Jackson, DaVante Leflore, and Jaquan Hamilton are just a few to be watched. But rest assured you won't be disappointed! So let's just wait and see when the season starts, the boys will do what they know best and that's play some good, exciting football. SO STOP THE HATE AND LET'S SUPPORT ALL OF OUR AREA PLAYERS!!
I hope Golper reads the comments that he played "lazy" in the Muir game and kicks some fanny in their game this year. I think his highlight film has a few plays from the Muir game: actually catching the runner behind the line of scrimmage. Maybe Stangfan can tell us if he looks at it.
Stang Fan,
People don’t have to take the “PHS” fans serious, because we don’t live in the past like the Muir fans. Since, Kevin has gotten to Pasadena High School we have been on a steady climb to the top. I know the players we have on our team, I know the players on Muir’s team and some of the players on Arcadia’s team. This will be Kevin’s easiest team to coach, because up front on both sides of the ball we will be stacked! They way those freshmen’s and sophomores’ played in the playoffs were incredible! The skills positions are in good hands, yes, we lost some good talent, but we have mixture of seniors, juniors, and sophomores with great experience. I think Burroughs’s and Pasadena High will battle for the league championship.
Joey Jackson, De Vont`e La Flore, Jaquan Hamilton (all seniors) and Austin Lacey (sophomore) will lead us with a more balanced attacked next year. We have a host of other young talent to start the Dog’s off with an exciting year. As for the Arcadia fans and Muir fans both streaks will end this year for “SURE”! I will be rooting even harder this year!!!!!! I’m a real DOG! Oh, I’m also a real “HUCKSTER”!!!!!!!
stang fan,
I honestly believe that golper wasn't in the best shape last season despite his monster season. he did not do spring drills or winter drills because of a hurt back then when got healthy in the summer he sprained his ankle. it will interesting to see what he does being healthy.
big a
It was easier for muir to adjust to arcadia rather than arcadia adjusting to muir. muirs team speed was just too much without practicing. arcadia probably spent hours before the monrovia game practing on pursue angles.
Stangfan,
I agree with you on about 80%. I don't understand how Dimalante didn't get those guys up for that game. I do believe the fires had something to do with it. But, I guess that is just one example where the players play and coaches coach. There is only so much you can do. But there is no doubt in my mind that Dimalante is a good coach. With the limited talent he has, he seems to make the best of it.
Regarding Golper, his highlight tape speaks for itself. It's on Scout.com, its about 10-15 minutes of real highlight plays. Hopefully somehow it will go on Youtube for people to see (Youtube is amazing). I really don't remember seeing any Muir highlights though.
Hopefully next year will be a LOT better of a game because Muir v. Arcadia is always a great game (last year was an exception).
stank fan, again check your stats... guy
1) arcadia was 7-0 at the time.
2) not everything was good to go. remember the fires? muir is used to having things rough. arcadia is not. i bet all the arcadia kids thought there would be no game because the air quality index was bad and their mommies put a note in their lunches that told them not to play in the smog.
im not saying that one situation (muir or arcadia) is better than the other. its just where the two schools are at this point.
Big A,
Good to see you still supporting your Apaches.
To answer your question about Golper, yes I did assess his play, but honestly not on every play. That's the one thing about just being a fan, we don't get the benefit of watching game film and have to make assessments during the game. What I remember about Golper that game was that I expected to him to be ALL over the field because of the speed he has for his size. I was not impressed that night. However, in a semi-defense for Golper he seemed to carry the same lack of emotion you are talking about. He looked tired and quite frankly a little lazy in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Do I think that game was an aberration? Absolutely. I 'm quite sure that kid is a beast.
Here's something to ponder though? When the subject about good coaches came up I remember a ton of support for your guy Dimalante on this blog. However, the primary measure of a coach is how well he prepares his team for a game, right? How then does Arcadia come out SOOOOO flat for literally their biggest game of the year? They were 8-0 and riding high, and according to the newspaper they couldn't wait to play Muir. SO how did they come out and simply lay an egg the way they did. I honestly believe that Muir was just that much better. I know we'll have to agree to disagree, but I just don't see a "great" coach like Dimalante not preparing his boys strategically or mentally for the biggest game of the year.
hsfbfan and stang fan,
It's good to hear from you guys.
hsfbfan,
My prediction is Arcadia goes 6-4 or 7-3 in the regular season. If they go 7-3 they will win their first CIF game and get bounced out in the 2nd round. Rambeau and Golper will lead the team but it is going to be a young group.
Stang fan,
If you remember that game correctly, Arcadia didn't even bring a fight really. Don't take this the wrong way, but did you assess Golper during the game? He does have size and speed (4.68) for a 6'1 230 pound kid. I just remember that game, watching Arcadia with their minds elsewhere, not prepared to play. Muir came ready and dominated.
I'm glad you two are back and hope to hear more.
hsfbfan,
I don't know much about the Arcadia team next year, hopefully you can fill us all in. I'd like to hear more on Arcadia as well as Muir, PHS, Monrovia and St. Francis.
I just re-read my last post and wanted to clarify. I did not mean to suggest that Golper has no upside. I wanted to suggest that college coaches would have to look very closely to find an area of concern.
At this point the only stats college coaches care about for Golper are his height, weight and 40 time, maybe vertical jump, as well as his grades and SATs. Even if he scores no TDs this year, the college coaches would just assume his coach had him poorly positioned for success. Good programs recruit athletes with potential. The only concern I could imagine is that Golper is fully matured without any more upside. However, I will trust the scouts at all these big programs and look forward to watching him play on Saturdays.
Greetings all!
I see we are all back to shilling for our for our alma maters (BTW, here is the definition of shilling on dictioinary.com, see if you notice the name of a particular blogger "4. to advertise or promote (a product) as or in the manner of a huckster; hustle.") Hilarious!!!
Anyhow, here's how I see it. Todd Golper is the best prospect in the area for the class of '09. Period. He may not be the best player, but with his size, measurements, and "speed," he is EXACTLY what colleges are looking for in today's prospects. The kid already has four offers from big-time programs with more on the way. I can't wait to see how he measures up as the clearly defined leader of the team. I remember last year's game vs. Muir he looked HUGE, but his play that night was average at best. Too bad for him Arcadia will not be very good, and a shell of the team we saw last year. I agree with the real hsfbfan wholeheartedly.
As for the best player in the area, I think I will go with Dietrich Reilly at SF. I know he didn't have the season that many people expected, but you must remember that last year's SF team wasn't that good, and ALL the teams keyed in on Reilly, especially when the QB went down. Truthfully, he is a defensive player and will more than likely play D in college and that's where his true talent lies.
As far as Willams from Monrovia, I can't really comment because I've never seen him play. He sounds like a great player, but probably not as good as some M-town bloggers make him out to be. But again, I'm in no position to make a proper analysis. I do wish him the best though.
Huckster,
Bro, are you SERIOUS?!?!?!?! Joey Jackson? Is that the kid whose grandfather use to coach at Muir? If it is, you are crazy. Don't get me wrong the kid has some talent and skills, but "the area's best all-around player?" Wow!!! Talk about being a shill!!! And a kid who hasn't played more than 3 or 4 varsity games is going to be "the best running back in the area." This is exactly why HS fans are NEVER taking seriously.
Well I guess it's my turn to pump my guys up a little bit too. If anyone actually thought for a second, that Muir won't be any good next year, you are sadly mistaken. Here's a list of some fairly good players for next year's class: Bingo Thomas (QB), Chris Dunlap (DB, WR, RB) Myles Campbell (WR), Marcus Graves (S, WR). THere are others that will undoubtedly do well, but I think these guys will be the studs of this class. I look for Bingo to have a tremendous year and Chris Dunlap has WHEELS!!! Marcus is a damn good safety and I believe that Myles will be one of the best recievers in the area. THere is a ton of team speed returning next year, and as usual Muir's success will be measured by how well their lines play. If it's true that the Pacific is moving down to the Southeast division...watch out.
Some of you guys are right that Arcadia on paper may be weak overall and one player,no matter how good, can't make for a whole team. By the way , the National rankings just got published by Scout .com and Golper is rated the # 119 player at any position and the #9 rated MLB in the country. He has a 4-star rating.FYI,schools the caliber that are recruiting Golper don't pull scholarships unless they catch the player lying, the player tanks it academically (wont happen w Golper -excellent student)or he becomes medically disabled from playing.
Golper is going to be a stud next year but arcadia is weak in many postions because of graduation. This is something arcadia has to overcome this next season. The QB next year is a 1st year junior with no experience. The DL is almost all new. What's your take BIG A?
we'll see how much smack arcadia will be talkin next year.
y'all didnt even win nothing this year. no cif (yeah right, no chance.. y'all got BLOWN the F$*!# out in the 1ST round!) not even league. y'all were third place. you beat st francis, so what, they were as weak as they ever were and next year will SMASH on arcadia. yall only got todd golper. hes a TE and LB SON! no QB, no RB, no line... NOTHIN! Beat MUIR and Burroughs then talk! you guys talk like you won a ring!!! yall didnt win NUTHIN!
St Francis will compete for a league title this year don't worry. The J.V. team won league and had a lot of quality players. The QB battle should be interesting this year though. Sciarra is coming back and Coach Bonds' son is also competing for the job. Man I wouldn't want to be in Bonds' shoes.
Arcadia#1 fb fan,
Relax on the posts...my goodness.
O-cat,
Golper may commit early. You never know. I don't think the schools will pull his scholarship after trying to recruit him for 7 + months. But then again, you never really know what some of those college coaches will do.
Its true no Todd is the best player to look for in this next football season
Who is going to stop him I know for a fact that Arcadia in going to win league also Pasadena lost all there players, Burbank has a some players, and as for last year league champs who do they have on the defensive side to stop Todd. Yeah that's u mustangs you guys lost everyone this year that was your last chance to go all the way. Who do u guys have?
If St. Francis had Williams you might just have a chance at taken your league this year and maybe some of your pre-season games. Todd Golper is going to need plenty of help from his teamates to keep him and his stats favorable for some of his recruiters...How easily they forget...
It would nice if RIley went to arcadia so that golper and riley could join forces.
Sfhs92,
I have to agree with that statement. Riley and Golper are the top prospects from our side of the SGV in my opinion. Riley will be an early offer kid just like Golper is. And the funny thing is, someone said earlier that Golper and Riley are friends. I guess the studs hit it off.
Golper is a stud but to say no one compares to him is crazy. Riley from St. Francis 2 time first team all league, all state sophomore, and he is only going to be a junior. He is also able to play multiple positions Qb, rb, wr, Olb, and all secondary positions.
Josh Lowden from M-Town will take all-league, Defensive Player of the year for 2008/RH/Star News, and will be All-State.
Pablo Robles from Gabrielino High School is a beast! hes gonna knock some heads in the MVL next year
Pablo Robles from Gabrielino High School is a beast! hes gonna knock some heads in the MVL next year
williams who????NO ONE COMPARES TO GOLPER. end of dicussion
I believe "Joey Jackson" of Pasadena High will be the area's best all around player! He play's running back, wide out, line backer and all secondary positions. Austin Lacey, will be the best running back in the area and he will only be a sophmore. The Dogs will be loaded with talent at every postion! Davont`e La Flore will be the best wide out too! I know the Pasadena people think I'm crazy, but I think we have a real shot at going undefeated! The Bulldogs will have a physical team this season with the ability to score slow or fast from any where on the field! Let's Go!
Blair's Kendell Hollinquest is a beast and should be one of the top players next year. I was also impressed with Kishon Sanders.
Pasadena Fan,
You should mention some of your guys then. The only one Scott mentioned is Golper, the most obvious due to all the offers.
Regarding the top prospects in the SGV, according to Robledo's blog, the top 5 prospects in the SGV will be posted next week on the Trib blog by a scouting service
What about PHS, Muir, Blair kids how come there juniors aren't getting mention???
Big A
so true about summer camps being a place to get noticed and gain name recognition. (Besides the intent to hone your skills against a wider range of competitors)
Impress the coaches, it gets around
GA,
I forgot about LaSalle. There are at least 4 good reasons to be hungry and focused this year.
omitted "much" in last entry
as in "pretty much" no big name talent...apologies
NY- the 0-3 tweak made sense to me, when you cut away the fodder, in the end- that is the botttom line
NY is soo right about the variables...anywhere from now till 1st kickoff and all the way thru the schedule - a ton of factors both controllable and uncontrollable come into play...and do so every season, every year and for every team. That said, if I were a Wildcat homegrown supporter it STILL would be hard not to share some of the enthusiam )O-cat and others have.
91030 -
Your JV squad last year was supported by a horde of parents/supporters that 3/4 filled the TC visitor stands - and you had some skill and solid effort on the field. It seems to always be a rebuild year - due to graduations, that is the nature of the game. That is the case at TC this year as the Rams bring back pretty no big name talent - but hopefully some kids who will give their all every Friday.
On Any Given Friday, that is all you can ask.
sfhs92,
Armstead did play there along with other future NFL players like Clifton Abraham, Le'Shai Maston and Darius Smith.
Amazing players on one team.
Big A,
Didn't Jessie Armstead play on the '88 Carter team?
BigA,
I've learned not to count my chickens before they've hatched. I've seen Monrovia teams where the starting QB and RB who had great games as juniors in the playoffs simply decide not to play the next season (as seniors!) and/or transfer to Duarte. I've seen coordinators quit mid-season.
I suppose those variables are part of what can make an upcoming high school football season so precarious.
At a certain point, the only thing I can guarantee is that the M will be lit up and turned into a V with every Victory.
I'm surprised kids want to transfer all the way over to Charter Oak. Why not just go over to Arcadia?
The winningest Monrovia QB I can think of was Darryl Moore, who was about 5'7 and weighed a buck-nothin'. However, he threw for a lot of yards. It was nice that he had Akil Harris in the backfield to draw in the defense. Kenny Parry also had a strong senior year. He also benefited from strong RB play from Adam Gabriel. Every QB needs a decent run game. Do you think Troy Aikman would be a household name without Emmit Smith plowing for yards behind titans like Larry Allen, Eric Williams, Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Stepnowski and Novacheck? Even Vince Young needs a tailback to draw the weakside backer in so he can counter the other way.
I really hope Monrovia's guys are developing into physical football players this offseason so they can take advantage of their skill-position weapons.
Sometimes High Schools are better at culturing a few strong positions year after year and many backs could go unoticed that is probably one of Monrovias biggest dissapointments (Too Many Running Backs) Just Imagine what could have happened if all of the seniors that started at other schools stayed with the Monrovia program. (Dorian Wells, South Hills, Khmari English, Cantwell, Jesse Candada Jr. Duarte.) It would be scary....I think that Monrovia should committ itself to improving it's Defense. Bring back some of the greatness of the 90's...I think that this years Defense will step up to the plate with guys like Lowden, Boggs,Winfrey, Calvert...etc...they are still growing in their position but becoming ever so dangerous......
New York,
Yes. I saw the 1988 championship team. Texas football in general is very exciting and is a lifestyle down there.
But the past is the past.
New York,
How do you think Throplay will do next year at QB and what do you think of the transfers that have happened at Monrovia HS?
o-cat,
Bailey had three 1500+ seasons w/ 20+ td's and avg 10 per carry. Colleges started to look at him after his 9th grade year. He did not get love because he did not get the job done in the classroom. He re-surfaced at PCC at RB and was getting good reps last year but he hurt his knee in fall camp. He was exciting and I hope he can play again.
Anon,
I prefer a bit more granularity.
BigA,
Did you ever catch any Dallas Carter games? Ever attend the state championships at Texas stadium?
new york how about simply stating 6-6? sheesh...
New York,
I am not directly involved in coaching/scouting but my some of my closest friends are. I have a Scout.com account and some of my closest friends have sons or had sons on the Arcadia team.
I lived in Dallas.
Goldenarm:
Sorry for the delayed response. Am new to this and was out of town. Unfortunately, I am not enough in the know to comment on next year's SoPas line. From what I have been told, this will be a rebuilding year. My assumption, from what I hear is that that the O-Line and D-line will be OK but thin. However for SP, and probably the rest of the RHL that is par for the course. If you are big and agile from SP, the chances are you will be heading to Loyola or St. Francis. I hope to see SP throw next year, which could open it up a bit more for Maldonado. SP, I hear, has a pretty decent current freshman QB who in a few could be pretty good. From what I saw in 2007, Maldonado made his yards on traps, quick openers and "desire". And for what is worth, I do not know what all the dispute is about Golper and Williams. Both seem like great athletes and FB players, and we all on this WSGV blog should be cheering them and all others on to be successful and if they qualify to make it at the next level. As I said earlier about the 2 SP kids, fun to watch, no matter the score or results, and in the end, isn't that what HS sports is all about.
Last year Monrovia football was 1-1 in the playoffs and 0-3 against Duarte, Arcadia and Blair. We have a lot of motivation this off-season.
what was monrovia's record last year?
with a bailey. it wasnt a lack of a great senior year that got him no love.
it was simply his grades. nothing more.
BigA,
Just curious as to whether or not you are directly involved with coaching or scouting at some level?
Where in Tejas are you from?
O-Cat,
Sounds good. I hope he is very successful and does get back on the radar but you still didn't answer my question.
I hope he is what you say he is because you sure are pushing for him. That QB sounds like a complete stud. Is he attending any camps/combines? Those are now the ways to get noticed on the recruiting front.
Thank God LaDaninan Tomlinson and Peyton Manning won't be playing at Monrovia High School this year!!! Lord only knows they would certainly have to ride the pine behind such amazing players.
What is Williams' ht and weight? Is he going to the Nike or Scout camp?
Big A
In All fairness, injuries has a lot to do with the recruiting process. If you have great underclassment years and dont produce in your senior year such as Ardaruis Baily back in his day then you could face a lack of interest in scouts spending their time and money seeking you out. But If you have great senior year you are back on the Radar. Williams has had to play behind two great backs in his Sophemore year and therefore did'nt get the playing time nor the recognition he might have gotten had he played more. Last year was a Bad year for him in terms of Injury....but if you saw what everyone else saw in his performances in the last six games of the seasons I think you too will be convinced that he is not only a great returning starter but he could probably start in anyones backfield, here and in Orange County, Inland Empire and so on....He's just one of those special backs that you dont always get. Not to put down any other back that can come out and prove himself but He just stands out in my mind as one of the All Time Good Backs to come through MHS. We have several other great players on the team this year that might prove to be much better than in their JR. or Soph. years. I will also state that Sophmore QB Josiah Throplay will play a huge part in this years Offense. His Maturity and Athletic ability gives him High praises amongst scouts already. As a Fresham he lead the JV team to a 9-1 Record, Some believed that he has the ability to take all of MHS QB records by his senior year. This is yet to be seen but from his youth league football experience, anyone who say this kid play will tell you that he could have started QB at Several High School Varsity teams as an 8th grader.
O-cat,
So let me get this clear. You are saying that regardless of position, Williams is the best player in the SGV valley?
Williams may be the best back in the area but best prospect regardless of position? I highly doubt that. Golper is an all-state player as a junior. Williams is....?
I have no doubt the Monrovia vs Arcadia game will be very fun to watch. Monrovia always worries me every year. Talent.
Obviously losing a star player hurts, but I guess when Arcadia fans say it shouldn't matter, it is more of saying that it shouldn't be an excuse but it definitely hurts.
I saw Williams' first game and was extremely impressed. He should be the back to watch next season. Smith isn't too far behind, but Williams definitely is the real deal.
Big A
No disrespect to Arcadia or Golper, he should standout wherever he plays, but I think you will have a good opportunity to see Williams first hand At Arcadia this year. You totally missed him last year, I'm not just saying he is probably the best prospect out there this year from the SGV especially in terms of returning RB, He Is. Like alot of Apache fans talked about last year, It "it should'nt matter whether or not you are missing your star player" That was a huge disadvantage for the Wildcats, because not only is he a great player, he is also a greater leader. His heart won a few games last year even though I think that he came back a bit early from his injury. So as far as Williams is concerned You may want to wait and see him in Action and then you will know what kind of player he is touted to be.
o-cat,
Your statement about Williams being the most sought after prospect is somewhat ridiculous at this point. With Golper having 5 offers, which was confirmed on the MidValleyNews talk show, what makes you come to that conclusion? I'd like to see whether he gets an offer in the spring recruiting period. I would be very happy if he did but I have not seen him come up on either Rivals or Scout once.
Golper at Colorado? Darrel Scott ended up there and he would be lead blocking for him if he came there as a fullback. Wow, now thats something to think about.
Burroughs should have a great team next year New York.
It should be fun watching what Golper does in the new CIF division. The proposed reallignment is similar to what some of us suggested two years ago. At the very least, I hope the Pacific is able to beat CO, LA, SH and WC. Does anybody think Burroughs may win CIF as the sleeper?

I for one welcome a voice from SoPas.
blog topics relating to fball seem to have an ebb and flow of participation...obviously when the grandstands are full the activity is higher around here.
Do you expect Maldonado to have a stronger O-line to run behind in 08?
Not much ever commented upon about South Pas in these FB blogs. However, as an old alum who watches most games, and based on the subject matter here, i must opine that two Juniors to watch out for next year are Steven Colliau and John Maldonado. According to MaxPreps and the Star News, Colliau, along with Todd Golper, were the only two juniors who were in the top 10 area receivers. Tough kid, average speed, great routes and unbelievable hands. He was also the only junior in the RHL to be 1st Team Offense and Defense. Maldonado did a heck of a job running the ball with an offensive line that did not open many holes. Again a great competitor who you would want to have playing for you. While neither one is D1 material based on size, and i hope neither the Star news or this blog are limited to such prospects, they are the types of kids which make High School FB fun to watch.
Williams has a ton of talent and could very well rock the SGV next season. Also, Monrovia will not actually have to depend on his performance alone to generate offensive production. This will erase solo keying - or some defensive strategy designed solely to stop a single bad ass player - meaning Williams. In other words, I don't expect the Wildcats to be short on receiver corp talent, since TC JV practiced all week covering "scout" Wildcat recievers before the JV game last year. Disrespect the quick slant and odds are you will lose the footrace - or sit back on your heels at corner, and seeyah...out and up etc.
Plus they can counter to Smith in the backfield, which they did against TC.
My only concern and observation would be Williams high pad level which I observed in the TC buttkicking last year. He is tall and at times too upright. He could absorb some barnburner shots at the line of scrimmage with that running style, shots which add up even on a conditioned young kid. Once past the line of scrimmage his running style is both beautiful and enough to piss you off at the same time. If the Cats hone their downfield blocking (which ain't bad already) - I don't see O-Cats prediction as being wild hype or that of a Monrovian lunatic. Like I said, they won't need 40 carries a game each week from Williams..such a single-minded offensive strategy might even seed dissention on a team laden with talent. And no O-cat, I ain't plantin' that seed here - just stating such crap has happened before.
Garrison must be drooling - can he put it together??
Golper the leading fullback for Darrel Scott at Colorado. That's an all american combo. Peanut butter and Jelly. Colorado might have a chance since Former arcadia/Colorado/NFL stand out lineman Brad Bedell is a coach there. Plus, Arcadia Samson Jaugoas just finished playing fullback there.
Interesting...
Golper already has been offered from Georgia Tech, Arizona, UCLA, Stanford, and Vanderbilt. With University of Colorado supposedly offering before the week is out. Who has offered Williams?
From Blair I'd look for: Terrill Jones, Raheem Broadnex and even though he'll only be a sophomore Kishon Sanders. Just my opinion.
Calling out O-Cat
I am not a coach but at the Cantwell game were a few scouts standing along the sideline off the field with Jackets representing a couple of the schools that were mentioned. During the game An Oregon scout made a remark about Williams stating that he could probable start for them next year..08 probably because Williams had the most defining game of his career with over 200 first half yards. Smith on the other hand did'nt have as many yards but showed strength throughout the game as they were were discussing this kids potential....Now, to answer Goldenarms question..about #6 on the JV squad I'm not sure who he is. So as for who will be the best Jrs....I will put my money on Williams being probably the most sought after Senior this year in the entire SGV...
I interpreted the question to be what juniors soon to be seniors should we look out for, not what sophomores soon to be juniors - can someone clarify?
apologies
last post was a GA comment, forgot to sign
O-cat
what is the name of #6 on JV last season? Not a big kid, but elusive as hell
I think if I was the father of a kid being eyed by multiple schools - I would hire : 3 recruiting advisors (with serious resumes)1 multi-denominational pastor for continual prair, 1 mercenary/hit man type for discouraging bullshi - offers, 2 collegiate academia experts (one for each coast)1 ancient woman who could fortell the future and cook huevos rancheros simultaineously, put Galetti on retainer to write highly flattering front page copy on my kid - and finally I would ask my son "dude, where to YOU want to go...
It is great to be wanted..but man the stomach acid in weighing it all out. A good problem to have I guess.
Who else are the sophomores going to be juniors next year to look out for?
For all the recruiting experts who are "correcting" O-Cat and talking about the significance of letters: NOTHING matters until there are offers on the table. Even letters signed with real ink don't matter until a coach makes an offer.
Josh Lowden(sophomore) from monrovia is also another kid to look out for
o-cat are you a coach at monrovia? how do you know that there are scouts specifically watching those players play? please spare us all and dont say that scout regularly come out to monrovia games just to check overall talent!
are you just making stuff up or are you just "connected" to the program but choose to remain vague.
Observantcat,
Golden did score the first touchdown. On a three yard touchdown run. But you stated false statistics. Next time please post true statistics so the whole situation is not misunderstood. Thanks.
I also don't remember Smith hobbling around. I certainly remember him being very fired up and playing extremely hard, much harder than some of his teammates.
I'm proud that there were scouts. But that doesn't mean they are getting recruited, just looked at. The whole recruiting process goes more into just showing up and watching a kid play. Conversations, letters, e-mails are all forms of actual college recruiting.
Now that the pot seems to get stirred once again....Big A...Brandon scored the first TD in the Game on the opening Drive against Arcadia going a total of 80 yrds..Smith was hoping around and was asked to carry the ball because of the inexperience of Golden and the absense of Williams...As far as the Scouts..there were a few at the Playoff games watching Williams and Smith. I'm sorry if It is hard to believe that a Two good running Backs have bought such a response from some D1 recuruits by haveing a great second half of the season...As for the QB, yes the Sophemore QB will be the starting QB this year and he is no drop-off from last years starting QB....What's up Goldenarm?.....hope all is well with you....
When it comes to Wildcat football don't listen to anything Observantcat has to say. Something is really wrong with that dude. Go Big Green!
speaking of maxpreps..I was surprised to see so many individual players from Sierra Vista in Baldwin Park listed on the leader boards...Tommy Cogburn among them. Passing, tackles, rushing yds etc. Damn South Elmo also had a couple players well up on the board
Big A - maybe you should heist that McNees kid from RH prep...avg punt of 48 yds ain't too shabby
Big A,
Is that the tall dude who started on JV last year?
HAHAHA GOLPER SOFT? ok st francis keep talking ur s**t cuz you got SMAHSHED last yr...golpers a stud and he deserves everything he gets he works harder than anyone in the SGV..mark my words you will hear about this kid on national tv in a couple years
Goldenarm,
My guess is that Josiah Thoropay kid. (I probably got his last name wrong, my apologies). From all the hype he was getting last year, I wouldn't be surprised to see him up at the Varsity level next season for the Cats.
O-cat
who will start at QB for the Cats?
o-cat...
why lie about monrovia recruits!! i can't believe that one of the guys he was hyping doesnt even play for monrovia anymore!!! what a joke. cmon man check your information and sources before you post.
ITS REAL EASY TO TELL WHETHER YOU ARE LYING!! IF THE KID IS BEING RECRUITED BY A D-1A SCHOOL, IT'LL BE ON SCOUT.COM/RIVALS.COM maybe ESPN.com.
Who returns from Blair next season?
Observantcat,
What are you talking about? Brandon Golden had 2 attempts for 1 yard on maxpreps. I know you want to push Monrovia but as least be honest with your facts and statistics.
You should probably know that Smith and Golden transferred as well. I'm surprised you hadn't heard that by now.
With your false statistics, I can hardly believe that they are being recruited by those schools. Remember, letters to a player means nothing unless they are completely directed to a player or signed by a coach.
"but you didn't get a chance to check out the starting tandem of Williams and Smith who were sidelined due to injuries."
Smith played for most of the game. He had 17 attempts for 45 yards against Arcadia.
Thanks fellas. That was all the bulletin board material Todd will need for the next few months. Dave
Soft... HA!
Anon 3:04
Where'd you hear that SF thinks Golper is soft? I doubt that. After all, Golper is friends w Kevan Walker and thru him knows Dietrich Riley . I don't think Riley thinks he is "soft" whatsoever. But it makes for some good bulletin board material.
hs fan,
I agree with u. golper is the only kid in the sgv that has received offers.
big a,
I heard the about glop in the back field? can u say 'beast'? sf thinks he's soft. well see.
People be careful when you discuss that a kid has scholorships offers from various DI schools. Interest is not an offer. A check on Rivals.com will verify whether a kid truly has a scholorship offer. Many times bloggers mean interest not offers.

Contrary View-
Go back to school and quit talking about what you don't know. I'm sure that you are probably one of the students from "St Franchise".
Its time to come to grips with the fact the Maranatha is growing fast. It may be in lower division now but every sport is on the rise and most of them will move up after this year.
Oh and by the way..I didn't see "St Franchise" in the top 10 for Baseball today.
Hmmmm
The City of Pasadena has so many athletes, what about our four schools. Do we have any kids in the 2008 season that need to mention.
I'm sorry I forget another kid in my first post. San Gabriel's Punter Mike Varela. Will be the best Punter in the southern section this comming season.
Rian Younker is a d-lineman who was second team all cif this season. The kid is a BEAST going after the QB. Just ask Loyola where he had 3 sacks in the game! Not that big, but what he lacks in size he has in agressiveness. Keep your eye on him for 2008.
Dietrich Riley of St Francis should be added to this list
Scott, Ex PCC player and annon peaked my interest about the new football coach at Marshall. I went to the Web site listed and saw no mention of the new head coach at Marshall ever playing there. If this coach is not telling to truth he should be exposed to the community. This needs to be checked out. Are you going to look into this Scott?
Observantcat,
Brandon Golden left for charter oak and i'm sure Dwight Smith left for another school too.
Marquise Williams and Dwight Smith....Big A you guys got just a taste of the Monrovia Sophmore running Back Brandon Golden last year and he had a pretty good first half by gaining 114 yrds..but you didn't get a chance to check out the starting tandem of Williams and Smith who were sidelined due to injuries... But I think the entire SGV will get a chance to check them out this year. A healthy Williams would have gone over 2000 yrds last year and a more diciplined Smith should be capable of the same thing...both are D1 running backs being recruited by such teams as Michigan State,Penn State, UCLA, USC, Oregon Etc...It should be an intersting game over at Arcadia this year. I predict Williams to be unstoppable this year. He should be by far the SGV highlight real this year.
Anon,
Evan King is the RB at St. Francis right? Just curious as to if he was being looked at by any schools. He stood out to me last year against Arcadia at RB by taking a beating by the LB's yet gaining 2-3 extra yards after each hit.
Are there any other juniors who are being recruited other than Golper (who has 3 offers UCLA, Stanford, Ariz.) I hope the SGV will be looked at with more eyes because there are some good kids out here.
New York
Rumors coming out of Arcadia is that Golper will be coming out of the backfield. Not surprising if so, but the question will be can he handle the conditioning?
Brian Rambeau at Arcadia is another senior to be to look out for. He played safety and receiver last year.
Arcadia will have a veteran secondary with only one loss (which is a big loss) in Kevan Walker.
Here is the link to all of the players who have played for the Ducks.....scroll down towards the bottom
http://www.goducks.com//pdf2/80934.pdf
Evan King is going to be a monster.
I know this is off-topic and all but i was bothered by something that someone wrote about new Marshall coach Ricky Pickens a little while back which said that he in fact had lied about his playing days at the Univ. of Oregon and for the SD Chargers. Well, I looked it up and that person seems to be right. there is no mention of any Ricky Pickens in the universitys media guide of all the players who have played for the Ducks, look it up. If this is not some sort of mistake by Oregon then Mr. Pickens ought to be shamed of himself. That is just downright sad and embarassing.
Will Myers from SM.
RHL - He'll break your chin strap.
Get serious - the Maranatha QB won't get a chance to prove himself next year either. Playing in the lowest division in football proves nothing, period! If he wanted to prove something, he should have gone to SF or Loyola.
Matt Shiltz from Maranatha. He didn't get a chance to prove himself last year because of the injury he got in the first game of the season that sidelined him for the rest of the season, but next season he is going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the area. Period.
If Golper really runs a 4.60 with his size then his coach should consider putting him in the offensive backfield once in a while or a lot! That could really wear down a defense.
Matt O'Malley from TC.
RHL - Don't forget to snap your 2nd chin strap
how about working with more arcadia kids so they will finally get out of the first round of the playoffs!
Hi my name is David, I work with Todd every day on his conditioning, strength, speed (which some people think he neglects, and he runs a 4.6 at 228 LBS as a 17 year old.!), coordination, balance, and flexibility. In all my years working with athletes I have never seen a more remarkable human being then Todd. He has every tool and more motivation in his fist then most teams carry. He carries himself like an adult, and is more mature then me. I'm writing this to be childish but also to challenge him more as I'm running out of ways to do so. I dare anyone to try to outwork him, in fact, he knows I'm writing this to motivate him more. He will not be stopped next season, if you want to see something special go to Arcadia's games in 2008 and take a look at #18.
