Four area teams remain in the CIF-Southern Section boys basketball playoffs, while one remains in girls soccer.

Here is Friday's schedule.

CIF-SS PLAYOFFS
Boys basketball
Division III-AA
Quarterfinals

Santa Clara at La Canada, 7:30 p.m.

Division III-A
Semifinals

West Valley vs. Renaissance Academy at Blair, 7:30 p.m.

Division V-AA
Semifinals

Pacific Hills vs. Marshall at Muir, 7:30 p.m.
La Verne Lutheran vs. Maranatha at Occidental College, 7:30 p.m.

CIF-SS PLAYOFFS
Girls soccer
Division IV
Quarterfinals

La Serna at La Salle, 3 p.m.

I watched a program concerning that on TV last night. Thanks for covering it in greater depth

La Canada defeated Santa Clara 65-59... Santa Clara coach Michael Sandoval got away with walking out of the coach's box so much, you'd swear he was Charlie Weis.

While I usually post about football, I did notice that Santa Clara is coming to the area to play La Canada in boys BB Friday. I looked at the Santa Clara roster to see if Ciere Wood, the running back that ended La Salle's football season, was on the team. He is, and when I looked at his stats, I was astounded by the shooting percentages by the whole Santa Clara team. Wood is shooting 62%, 10 points a game, the leading scorer Wilder is shooting 83% ! And Warren is listed shooting 41 for 41, 100% !!!
It reminds me of the batting averages of high school kids using aluminum bats.
Good luck to the Spartans on Friday.
