BASEBALL NOTEBOOK: Rio Hondo a tough road to travel
Question: Will we be seeing a team from the Rio Hondo League in the Division V title game again this year? And, if so, who will it be?

Getting through the Rio Hondo League baseball schedule without any bumps and bruises usually is about as likely as driving through the Los Angeles area without seeing any traffic.
It's not going to happen.
This season is no different, with six teams jockeying for three guaranteed CIF-Southern Section Division V playoff spots.
Defending league champion Monrovia (6-2, 2-0) has overcome the rigors of league play to win the 2006 Division V title and finish as last season's runner-up. The Wildcats' journey continues today when they host South Pasadena at 3:30 p.m.
"Obviously, the emphasis is to start off this league well because teams are going to beat each other," Monrovia co-coach Dave Moore said. "It's going to be tough for 15 games. There's five teams in our league that are very competitive."
South Pasadena (4-4, 1-2) already has split two games against 2006 semifinalist Temple City, including Wednesday's 7-5 loss. And Moore knows his team can't take South Pasadena lightly.
Left-hander Richard Kilbury (3-0) is expected to take the mound for the Wildcats.
TITANS HOST RAMS
San Marino (8-0-1, 2-0) will renew its rivalry with Temple City (6-2, 2-1) today at San Marino's McNamee Field at 3:30 p.m.
Last season, the teams had some knock-down, drag-out battles, with two games decided by game-winning home runs. This year, the teams not only jostling with each other, they're fighting for the league title.
"It's an important game because we're a game behind them in the loss column," Temple City coach Barry Bacon said. "They're a CIF playoff team and they have (Nick) Wilson on the mound, who is a quality pitcher."
San Marino has out-scored its opponents 59-22. Brian Dearth leads Temple City on offense , and he'll also start (2-0, 1.07 ERA) for Temple City. He is available for eight innings while Wilson (3-0, 0.87 ERA) will go for the Titans.

MOORS ON A ROLL
Alhambra (6-1, 2-0) looks to run its winning streak to six games when it travels to Schurr (4-4, 1-1) today at 3:15 p.m.
The Moors have outscored their opponents 58-7 since losing to Western Christian 8-5 in the second round of the Arcadia Elks Tournament.

Alhambra took the loss to W.C as a wake up call! they have been playing great baseball ever since. Their two starters Ramirez and Olivares are studs on the mound! Stay tuned they will continue to pound their competition.......
If any of the RHL teams make it to the finals this year, it will be TC. They have the best pitcher in the league in Dearth, and have the potential of putting together the best lineup 1-9. Yes they are young and have made mistakes early in the season, but they seem to always find a way to get the W and thats what matters. Dearth will stay strong throughout the season and get them the big wins they need down the road. They also have a strong #2 in Smith. He hasn't had much defense behind him as of late, but once TC gets over their immaturity on the baseball field..they are definitely a force to be reckoned with. I can't wait to see what happens though. The RHL is going to be really competitive this year. We will just have to wait and see who comes out on top.
