Without pitchers Berglund, Heyworth, & Doerning the St. Francis season was done from the start. With no stopper to go to out of the pen the late inning league losses have piled up. It's just part of the game and put a damper on what could have been a pretty good year for St. Francis.

At least the lights did not go off when a lined shot was heading back to the pitcher - or with the ump ready to rule on a tag at home plate.
Sounds like an earlier start time could be bueno.

St. Francis has an intersting game last night ve. Loyola at Jackie Robinson Field.

Tied at 3 in the bottom of the 7th, the Golden Knights had loaded the bases with one out, but couldn't capitalize and the game went into extra innings.

In the top half of the 8th, Loyola's 1st hitter launched a rocket into right field, but the St. Francis right-fielder dropped the ball. Add that with 2 walks and some clutch hits - Loyola scored 5 times in their frame, aming the score at the time 8-3 Loyola

In the bottom of the 8th, the Golden Knights got their first 2 hitters on base and the 3rd hitter laced a triple down the 3rd base line - scoring 2 runs to make it a 3-run game with no outs.

As the Golden Knights 4th hitter in the inning was in the batters box - the lights at Jackie Roninson Field cut out (as it was 10pm and the timer is automatically set to that time).

It will be interesting to see how this game will eventually finish.
