SOFTBALL: Area and CIF Rankings
There were no reports from Division V or VI, which means the CIF polls are the same. Why don't the reps from each division post each week? Is it low on the priority list?

Temple City 5, La Canada 3
That's what I'm talking about! WOOHOO...TC's movin' on up!
What happened at the LC - SM game?
I like that you can't count any team out even if their record is not what they hoped for.
Monrovia and Temple City was closer than the 5-1 score looks. TC up 3-1 in the 5th inning, 2 outs and two walks by starting pitcher Hardwick brings in Vega to face Monrovia's #4 hitter Laura Arnett. Laura hits the 1 & 1 pitch perfectly, deep to center. Alex Aguirre, one of the few players who even has a chance at catching that hit, turns and full on runs it down making a great catch to end the inning. If Monrovia had a outfield fence it would have 4-3 Monrovia.
Now what happened at LC & SM?
Do I see San Marino 7 LaCanada 5?
Temple City 5, Monrovia 1
Both teams score one in the 3rd. TC added 2 more in the 4th. 3-1 TC until the 7th when TC scored 2 more to make it 5-1.
Oddly enough in calhisports.com (a subsidiary of the highly respected rivals.com) Alverno is ranked #1 in the state of California in Division V. This is very strange because they are in Division VI.
To tell you the truth, I don't know if anybody really pays attention to anything that is going on.
For goodness sakes, Ohio State was ranked #1 in college football for a while this past year.
It's always best to have the coach assign a parent or student assistant to the task of calling in scores to the papers and positing results and /or stats on certain websites.
Getting information to media outlets is important for so many reasons and we all should make sure our kids' coaches have a system in place to get it done on a routine basis.
same problem with Boys Volleyball. I don't know what is so hard about reporting match results to the CIF.
The League coordinator is responsible.
So what is happening is a general malaise relative to rankings in all spring sports.Do you think it is a disdain of rankings by coaches or just a lack of responsibility by the coaches?
Nope, there have been non-reports in the rankings in all sports, not just softball. And it's the coaches who aren't reporting the rankings to the CIF. The CIF is simply reporting the results.
Scott,
When money gets tight in any high school process which is happening throughout California right now, there are areas that are snipped and only noticed by the people who care. It usually starts in the arts and women sports.
It seems that you may be insinuating that CIF doesn't think that softball is a priority compared to other sports, so they are treating it as a down year like the PSN, is that what I am smelling?
I don't think it's budget cuts, but it's something.
This is the first year that I have seen them not update it every week. It has been an odd year from a lot of perspectives.
Could it be budget cuts?
