SF is suffering from more than losing their 2-5 pitchers.

Ok sorry, you had 1 reserve. Natham, who is currently hitting .333, 50 points higher than Huntziner who is hitting .283.

Seriously? That's your logic? Again, get over it.

If "ifs" and "buts" were.........
Well you know the rest.

Scott,
Do you have the CIF pairings yet for the 3 Rio Hondo teams? Is there a final ranking of the local teams? Thanks.

anonymous said:

LSBB first of all in that lineup of Arcadia's you just posted, they didn't play one of their best hitters David Huntzinger.......also Natham never starts games...he is the 3rd string second baseman. And finally if Rutherford pitched you guys wouldn't have even scored a run...so

The GM
You said Arcadia played "plenty of reserves" against La Salle. I'm looking at the box score. Starting Line-up.
Tuck, Carroll, Smoley, Rutherford, Larson, Nigolian, Natham, Cleeland. The only sub that came into hit was Martin. Where are the reseves? This looks like Arcadia was actually trying to win. Get over it.

It was sad to see La Canada close-out the RHL season with 3 straight league defeats and fall into 5th Place given the incredible talent on their roster. This once proud program has now missed the CIF play-offs 2 straight years. Let's see what they can do to get back into the top 3 next year. Will likely be tough given the perrenial strength of Monrovia and Temple City and the steady improvement of San Marino and South Pasadena. Even Blair [0-15 in League] played much better this season and are expected to probably win some RHL games next year. Go Spartans!!!

Poly once again has a formidable pitching duo in Talt and Pennington. Yes, both have fared well due to their Prep League competition, but both have also performed well against teams of higher caliber. Talt threw well against Alhambra and threw an absolute gem against South Pas. Pennington no hit TC going into the 5th inning. Playoffs should be fun to watch.

GM, you can say that about a lot of teams. Monrovia called up a sophomore to pitch against Glendora and in a game at the Northview tournament. As far as the double header goes, it was originally scheduled as a double header, but changed a week or two before the game to just one game. In the books, La Salle won the game. St. Francis didn't seem to take them lightly earlier in the year and that's when they were healthy.

The GM -

It sounds like AHS did not take the game seriously, and La Salle did; also, MaxPreps shows no record of the "2nd game of the double header" being forfeited. Sounds like a loss to me. (Nice spin!)

However, I do agree that Arcadia should be in the top 10.

The GM said:

Scott, AHS played that game with the No.3 pitcher and plenty of reserves in the game. LaSalle played it as if it were game 7 of the World Series. Then they forfeited the 2nd game of the double header.

GM, your right, I probably should have had Arcadia somewhere in the top 10 this week. Having said that, the team with a losing record happens to be in one of the toughest leagues and the team that was wiped out by Bishop Amat beat Arcadia 5-2.

TC Coach,

Have you ever been to a Mission League game? It is a bit different than a RHL game. Crespi has 7-9 kids getting D1 rides. I will bet you that is more than the ENTIRE RHL combined. ND has 1 loss this year. SF lost to ND 2-0 and 4-2. Sure SF is struggling in one of the toughest leagues in So Cal but they are in just about every game and that is with 4 of their top 5 pitchers out of action. How would TC fair without their #1 Dearth? It is like being the #4 team in SEC in football. Even though you are #4 in your league you are better than just about every #1 out there. SF would more than hold their own vs. every team in the Star News Top 10 even with their depleted pitching staff. The problem is you can't survive in the Mission League unless your team at 100%.

LBeeeZZY said:

watch out for the minutemen and there second hitter. Dynamic STUD with Speed and power, uses all parts of the field, seriously dangerous, not to mention their number 2 in the staff, this kid has battled injuries all season ans has put it on the table and shows up ready to play VIVA LA MINUTEMEN!!

TheGM said:

Whoa! A team with a losing record, another that was wiped out by Bishop Amat in the top ten. Arcadia on a 6 game winning streak with a 10-2 league record no where to be found. Scott read your own paper.

Spartan Fan said:

La Canada lost to South Pasadena 3 - 1 on another strong pitching performance by Eugene Kim. Eric Smith went 2 for 3 with another walk and RBI but he can't do it all himself. LC slides down to 5th Place and are out of the CIF play-offs for the 2nd straight year. Maybe next season.

HOW DOES A TEAM WITH A LOOSING RECORD GET IN THE TOP TEN... S.F. IS A JOKE THIS YEAR WITH A BUNCH OF PROBLEMS THERE IS NO WAY THEY EVEN DESERVE A SNIFF OF THE TOP TEN..

1. Monrovia
Wrapped up RHL, preparing for another D5 run. Bishop Amat here we come!

2. Temple City
Survived Blair scare. TC was down 2-1 and facing an upset of biblical proportions heading into the 6th...Rams put to rest all the Vikings' hopes scoring nine unanswered runs amidst 6th and 7th.

3. Pasadena Poly
Talt/Pennington combine for 18-2 with 1.345 ERA

4. Gabrielino
Winless in the third and final league contest versus South El Monte past four meetings; keep our fingers crossed, and our nails a'bitin y'all...

5. Arcadia
Pacific league title up for grabs this Friday night 7:00pm at Crescenta Valley in regular season finale. GO APACHES!

6. San Marino
Dangerous hitting team. The Titans will take you down to the wire.

7. St Francis
Would likely beat all the teams in mine or your top ten.

The problem is not the team, the problem is the Mission League.

8. Alhambra
Seems to have built aura of false invincibility when you play beat-em-up Keppel and sometimes San Gabriel. Timely hitting has become problem of late.

9. La Canada
You won't want to really get in a runners on situation with Eric Smith up to bat.

10. La Salle
Comparable in league situation with St Francis. Michael Palffy is a lock for me in First Team all area hitter.

Alhambra is 20-4, not 15-6.
