BASEBALL: San Marino, Maranatha in quarterfinals

| | Comments (10) |

San Marino High School defeated Campbell Hall 5-1 Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division V playoffs. The Titans will face off against defending champion and No. 1-ranked Bishop Amat Friday at 3:15 p.m. at McNamee Field.

Question: Does San Marino have any chance of winning this game? Does playing in the tough Rio Hondo League help its chances any?

DIVISION VI
Maranatha earned a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Riverside Notre Dame and will host Lancaster Desert Christian Friday at Brookside Park at 3:15 p.m.

Question: As the rounds get tougher, does Maranatha have what it takes to reach the top?

How about if San Marino and Maranatha play eachother next year. That would probably be a pretty good game.

Fred, there's nothing respectful about your comment. You've forgotten the best part of sports--having heart. Never under-estimate the power of that. I hope you'll be eating your predictions tomorrow--looks like you've been wrong a few times this season already. And, I say that with all due respect.

I would give San Marino a decent chance IF Nick Wilson was pitching the whole game but since he pitched 7 innings in Tuesday's win he'll be limited for Friday. In any event, San Marino has a solid defense so if they limit their mistakes and get a few breaks, they can be in the game. I don't think they'll get outcoached so it'll come down to how well the San Marino hitters can do against BA's pitching. Good Luck SM!!!!

How does this San Marion team compare to the '92 team that beat Temecula in the finals?

There is no way that san marino will upset amat. absolutley no way. every kid in that amat lineup can take san marino's best out of the yard. I just hope for your sake that nieto will be a good good and put his bench in after the third inning, but he probably wont so be ready to get mercied.

The word upset exists for a reason.

I will take Maranatha to win their next game if '10 Dylan Covey is on the hill. UCLA was at the game had up him up to 94 was sitting at 91.
