CIF DIVING: La Cañada's Geyer, Poly's Lenz win titles
John Geyer earned another CIF diving title, while Cosima Lenz overtakes her sister to win championship.

John Geyer said his technique needed to be sharper, his entries had to be cleaner and, after the first few rounds, claimed it was all "downhill" for him Tuesday at Westlake High.
And this was a few moments after the La Cañada High School junior captured his third consecutive CIF-Southern Section Division II diving title.
Geyer became the seventh male diver in Southern Section history to win three consecutive championships by recording a career-high 592.60 points to post the top qualifying score in next Tuesday's Masters meet in Long Beach.
"My coach (at Trojan Dive Club) always has me try to be perfect," Geyer said. "Nothing is ever good enough for him, so I'm always trying to get better. There's still a lot of room for improvement. My first couple of dives were OK, but it kind of went downhill from there. But I didn't miss anything too bad, so that was OK."
Geyer spent the latter part of April battling a sore back, but he look relaxed and pain-free from the meet's outset on Tuesday.
"I feel more comfortable here. I'm not as uptight and nervous and I have more fun (than at nationals)," said Geyer, who joined Burbank's Todd Watkins (1982-84) and Calabasas' Matt Dahl (1990-92) as the only area male divers to win three in a row.
Geyer's performance highlighted a San Gabriel Valley sweep of the boys' and girls' championships, with Pasadena Poly sisters Cosima and Felicitas Lenz taking the top two spots for the second year in a row.
After suffering a six-point loss to her older sister last year, sophomore Cosima Lenz defeated her junior sibling 547.05 to 544.00.
"I had no idea how close it was," said Cosima Lenz, who led by 28 points with two rounds remaining, before Felicitas staged a late surge. "It was better that I didn't know (the score) because when I think about it, it throws me off. It's better not to think about that, because I don't have any control over what (the competition) does."
Both sisters will battle Mission Viejo's Haley McNamara for the title next Tuesday at the Masters meet in Long Beach.
"I thought I got second last year and then I won. So, I didn't know who was going to win this time," Felicitas said. "But Cosi hit every dive and she was amazing. The scores were high for everybody."
None higher than Geyer, who posted the top qualifying score entering the Masters meet. He'll be joined by senior teammate Brandon Liu, who finished third with a career-high 478.65.
Mission League champion Brittany Salas of Flintridge Sacred Heart was sixth with 378.15 and teammate Emily Boyd took 10th with 356.45. La Canada's Rachel Baughman (365.25) was eighth.
