Above: Eric Chin, Temple City High School.
Player of the Year: Nick Cvjetkovic
School: Arcadia
Position: Middle blocker/Outside hitter
Year: Junior
Accomplishments: He showcased his versatility when it mattered the most as he had 14 kills as an outside hitter in a three-game victory over host West Ranch in the opening round of the CIF-Southern Section Division II playoffs.
His effort exemplified what he meant to the team as he basically played the match with one hand because of a thumb injury that required a splint.
What he said: "We talked about how we didn't want our season to end that night and, at outside hitter, I was able to help out the block better, as well as pass and hit."
Coach of the Year: Eric Chin
School: Temple City
Accomplishments: In his first season as head coach, Chin turned the Rams into a contender for the Rio Hondo League championship. The Rams finished 15-9 and were third in league. They won their CIF-Southern Section Division IV first-round playoff game before falling to eventual champion Oaks Christian.

Comments
Terzian would be a great choice every year, and Cameron was a great leader as well. However, both South Pasadena and San Marino were expected to contend for the league title. Temple City wasn't expected to make the playoffs this season, much less contend with South Pasadena for the league title. Hardly a rediculous choice.

Not to put down Eric's accomplishments, but I don't understand how he is the coach of the year over South Pasadena's Terzian. Terzian dealt with numerous injuries, including Tim Tong sitting out half of league and David Allen playing libero, and still went 8-0 in league. Also, they lost many starters that were very important from last year. Scott Cameron from San Marino also did a wonderful job. Why pick a 3rd place coach as coach of the year?
