Mooney back on the sidelines
I've been on the phone with coaches pretty much all day. A lot of good information but here's one tidbit I'm sure yall would like to chew on:
Mike Mooney is back on the sidelines, but it's not what you think.
Coach D.R. Moreland is in control of the reigns at San Marino but it's looking like Mooney now is a full-time assistant coach on Moreland's staff.

Mooney coached a long time at Temple City before taking over as assistant principal last season. Mooney helped out with the football team from time to time last season but officially is coming on board this season. He will concentrate on the offensive line.
"Anytime you can add a coach of his (Mooney) caliber every body is going to get excited," Moreland said.
Moreland said he had been bugging Mooney to come on board and after settling in as assistant principal he finally did.
Also coming on board is Rich Enright who previously coached JV and at one point was San Marino's head coach. Moreland was pretty psyched about having two former head coaches on his staff this season.
I have to imagine anytime a coach of Mooney's caliber is on your staff the expectations automatically go up.
I'm not saying the Titans will vie for the Rio Hondo League title, but don't be surprised if they make the playoffs this season.

You hit on one of Mooney's attributes, getting people to work together...
It is not so much as "defining a school administrators role".... If Mooney were the school electrician or taught Introductory Badminton at SM..somehow he would still be consulted, recruited or merge his way toward the football team. Regardless of title or other job duties, he is still a football coach, not an ex-football coach.
By the way, as far as last year, don't believe MM sat home and watched Dancing With the Stars last year on Friday nights at 7pm. He was astro-projecting somewhere around the 50 yd line and "in the house".

I only know of 4 ex TCer's...yeah, the TC/SM game should be a good one. I got nothing negative to say on the "formers"...in fact, my comments would be positive.
Mooney is a great coach and was missed last year in the RHL.
I applaud Money and Moreland for erasing the "line" between administration and coaches. Administrators should help out the school's program in anyway possible. LC had this when Leininger was principal, but has lost it with the current admin.
Mooney, I am grateful for your willingness to hopefully redefine an administrator's role at a school. Keep up with great work.
Mooney has been a great coach for a awhile. I applaud that Moreland has looked to him for some expertise. Just because Mooney is an administrator, it should not preclude him from helping out school programs in anyway.
It is about time that administrator recognize the importance of being with the students and not just in their ivory towers.
LC was better when Leininger was there and was actively involved with sports and activities.
I applaud you Mooney - keep up the good work

rumor has it that the game in week 9 vs san marino will be TC homecoming game? is that true GA
what welcome home reception for the 6 ex tc coaches
breaking news: Mooney is an assistant at San Marino
More breaking News: Boston beat the Lakers to win the NBA title.
Also this just in: The Dodgers have acquired Manny Ramirez.
Nice job Miquel....great info.
Obviously Moreland is ready to collect some victories and move forward.
Other than head coach, O-line is by far the best and most effective place Mooney could hang his hat. The move will pay dividends immediately for SM, as Mooney will provide motivation, focus and technical knowledge from his own personal bag of tricks.
The SM sideline will have several pairs of green/gold underwear on it this season, the outer wear will be San Marino colors. I believe the vacant JV job you mention - when Enright goes to varsity - gets filled by another ex-TC coach. Obviously the chances of a little SM/TC rivalry might arise out of this...who knows.
Mike Mooney going to SM and NOT coaching fball would be big news. This has been in the cards and just needed to evolve. For it not happen would be like buying a house on the San Andreas Fault and thinking no earthquake was ever coming.
This is great. Hopefully Mooney will find a couple diamonds in the rough and be able to grind out some wins. Any chance Coach Moreland was able to convince Coach Bill Maloney to take the Defense?
Welcome back, Coach.
