I was out of town this past weekend. I don't know how they did but I will find out. They were scrimmaging Antelpoe Valley which is a lower rung team in the league they play in.
random
I don't know about the LC scrimmage...hopefully Matt does. LC does have the unknown Firebaugh coming up in preleague. Firebaugh got whacked 57-8 by West Valley.
BIG A, o-CAT.....WHERES THE WORD?
M-town has Beckman down the road again in preleague...Beckman blanked Cerritos 42-0.
The Stangs opponent next week, Oaks Christian, beat Bakersfield Christian, 35 to something, I forgot the final numbers.
Lot of work for everybody to do next week...you know somebody somewhere is stuck in the film room right now, just as they should be.
matt or goldenarm,
do either of you know how LC did at their scrimmage on friday????
Miquel, You might have gotten Wheeler mixed up with the Water Polo coach. La Canada, at best , will double last years win total. The Wheeler qouted by Miquel is not the same guy that anyone in La Canada or the surrounding area knows. How can a guy going into year twelve as a head coach not have any assistants throughout Spring and Summer? The JV team was good last year because they had a good coach. Not the same on the varsity.
random,
My guess is some returnees may be fighting for a job, or have lost one to some of the JV kids. UR right, decorum says the returnee should claim the position at season start.
If you recall LC was not much of a factor last year. However, if the stats supplied are true, La Canada has some very impressive depth this year.
I said back in June La Canada would contend for the RHL title....a good LC team only brings greater intrique and parity to the RHL this year.
"Though La Canada isn't known for its football prowess, the Spartans have enjoyed success under Wheeler including two CIF-Southern Section championships and five quarterfinals appearances."
Miguel, whoever told you that Coach Wheeler won two CIF-Southern Section championships and has five quarterfinals appearances at LC is dead wrong. Is a good coach don't get me wrong, but his stats aren't what you reported. If you need some help with stats you should ask some of the bloggers like Goldenarm and Stangfan.
Goldenarm,
As far as La Canada is concerned do you think that the tough group of JV kids will see a lot of playing time considering how many players they have returning as seniors who all got there first year of varsity experience last year
Big A,
what is the name of the Apache D lineman I keep hyping? Dad of 3 tagged the name but I can't recall it. By the end of the season the Pac league will know his name, for sure. HE IS A FORCE.
Nice job Miquel.
As far as the RHL, Moreland and Co are pretty much blowing smoke about having issues with their O-line...maybe light on returnees but lets not forget their 07 JV team was 7-3 for a reason. With Mooney elected CEO of the line, this group might end up being their best asset rather than a purported weakness.
After seeing M-town at Bonita, I agree with the preview comments on the situation at QB. I believe (as do many others)the Wildcats will excel on defense this year and this will be the calling card that wins games for M-town.
I still have difficulty seeing La Canada as horrible (sorry Matt) because they had such a strong, hard nosed group of kids on JV last year. TC (league co-champs) beat them last second on a long pass...otherwise LC could have taken the game.
TC will field an improved defense this year and there is no way teams will be pounding the Rams for 45 points week after week. The question is can the offense produce enough points to come out on top. Special team play will be crucial in the Rams fortune this year. We have some strong characters on the line...and some low to the ground v-raptors on D.
Blair is still a scary question mark and capable of repeating. I just can't see them as disciplined as SM, Monrovia or TC. South Pas will likely be better than rumor states....all in all, the makings of a great RHL season ahead.
