Blair wins!!! Blair wins!!! Blair wins!!!

Blair coach Gary Parks has confirmed Millenium (Northern California) forfeited Saturday's game against the Vikings.
The forfeit win now makes Blair 1-3 as they head into Rio Hondo League play next week.
Millenium was forced to forfeit for economic reasons, paying for gas the main reason. It's 373 miles one-way from Piedmont to Pasadena. That's nearly six hours sitting on the bus one way for a 3 p.m. Saturday football game.
Parks said he told Millenium administrators he was willing to help pay the gas and provide food for the team after the game, but their administrators felt it was just too much. They might re-schedule next season.

Enjoyed examining this, very good stuff, thanks .

There are probably many factors why you were hooked by the blog.
When a resume is too long or details work history that is irrelevant to the position you are applying to, no Recruiter will pay attention to it. Recruiters are bombarded with candidates work history for each job vacancy that they advertise.
i hear he's in rialto and has 2 kids.By the way we only lost 2 kids in the 5 week grading period but NOW the issue is prep time for games more attention was placed on academics because our kids are undiscipline and lax in the class it will take some time but the kids will learn how to balance academics and football eventually!!! GREAT JOB COACH AND THANKS for understanding that THE student is before football now lets go and finish strong ON THE FEILD AND SHOCK SOME PEOPLE
now that we all know about kendall
what happened to raheem??? he should be a junior this year
Does anyone have the AD's phone # at Blair?
Lone Pine and Thermal are looking for games next season.
Still apologizing BViking? A couple of weeks ago Blair fans were singing the praises of study hall and how this coach was helping the grade situation at Blair. I hope so but it looks like someone step in it this time. Students and parents are ultimately responsible but Parks must take some of the blame also. And no matter how much apologizing that Blair folks continue to do Boccia is the biggest part of this mess, but I'm just say’ in.
Are you serious in trying to make us believe 16 players were eligible at Blair last year? They only had 30 player to begin with 16 out would have put them out.
Well after some days of sorting out eligibility it appears the team only lost 4 players, compared to 12-16 last year at this time. thats progress hopefully it will start carrying over to the field
Go Vikes
Losing Kendell is a great loss to Blair’s football team, but more importantly it is SAFE for the football players. He needs help and I do not think the help he needs, Coach Parks or the Viking football team can provide. I would have pulled my son out right away, had they allowed Kendell to continue to participate on the team. When he attended Blair last year he would gang bang and smoke weed during school hours, but everyone was too scared or riding high on what a great job he was doing for the team to say or do anything about it. I really hope the kid gets the help he needs, but not at the expense of my son’s well being.
GRADES! I was so disappointed when I heard that the majority of the Varsity team is not eligible. I can not blame this one the coach! IT IS THE KIDS AND PARENTS RESPOSINBILITY to make sure they have good grades.
It looks really bleak for the football program this year!
Just let me touch upon a few of the points...
First my son is on the team too.
-the scheduling problems are not the current coaches fault as far as I can tell. too prove this, when went to BackToSChool NIght I found out that the AD was released/letgo/fired from his position last week sometime and they few parents I talked to all say "thank god".* THE KIDS ARE THE ONES SUFFERING B/C of this. this falls on the AD's desk
-games 300 mils away??- b/c its all the current coach could round up & anyone who knows football knows that you NEED games- especially if your struglling. once again this fall on the desk of the AD
-Eligibility- I hear now there are several problems with athletes being eligible, that resulted from coaching/administrative blunders that resulted in "F"'s. Fortunately my son didnt suffer grade wise, but are there even going to be 11 players on the field this week? cuz he suffer from that. WHos desk does that fall on???
-Kendell- from what I heard Viking supporter is accurate. Legal problems were the reason he left the team last year and when he showed up to play this year and was met with open arms from the new coaches. Unfortunately, he did not show any motivation to play, and follow the simple rules, let alone be humble about the gracious opportunity he had to play. Instead he wound up talking about 'banging' in his short time)1 or 2 days?) with the team.
Go Vikings,I hope our admin gets it stuff together and we get a league & first win this week, cuz we dont like forfeits/byes - even in Viking country.
That's what I was asking. There is no place for that kind of behavior in our school. So that means the coach gave him an opportunity and tried to help the young man to his credit and Kendell messed it up. That being the case he should not be allowed to participate.
I hold in my hand a contract that state "every player must make up every day missed from the begenning of summer ball before he/she will be allowed to participate in varsity football" each athlete had 7 days to miss and use those days anyway he/she chooses not to mention the dead period and days that neede to be made up that was the time. their were many athletes who decided to come out after spring and missed all summer and its not fair to all of those kids who came everyday, made up days missed and sacrificed their summer.Kendall was given the same opportunity that every kid on this team was given. My son told me he came to 1 practice and began to gang bang and looking for fights with teammates yet coached and the staff took the time to counsel with him and his mother (3 times) how many more times before someone realizes that its not going to work.
coach is a fair guy who SEEKS the chance to help people and make a diffrence in the lives of the kids. He' not about building his resume but HE'S truely about the well being of the kids at BLAIR!!!
Viking Supporter,
I commend the coach for sticking to what he believes in but the problem I have is "heard". Maybe you didn't mean it that way but shouldn’t the coach come in and judge for himself? He might be able to help, be a positive role model to this kid, not looking for someone to disprove a negative that he heard? Anyone in that situation is going to feel unwanted. I know the kid and there are definitely some issues and if he can't follow the "guidelines" of the team he should not be on the team. That being said going in he should be given the benefit of the doubt by the new coach, again he might have been able help him. But the way you describe the situation the kid was working uphill from the beginning. One of the downfalls to a new coach from outside the community with a different philosophy from the previous coach is that some kids will feel unwanted and will get lost in the cracks. One last thing Viking supporter if Kendall was not a part of the program for a couple of months then showed up in August why was he not given a chance to earn a position? If another kid showed up in August and said he wanted to play wouldn’t he be given the opportunity? Did he break the guidelines while he was not apart of the program? If not the coach’s mind was made up at the outset and the kid didn’t have a chance anyway, both you and I know when were not wanted. No excuses but It’s hard for 40 year olds to disprove a negative and work behind the eight ball and almost impossible for a angry teenager. Hoping Blair and Kendall the best.
my son informed me that kendale came to blair to join the team during spring ball in june but coach heard there were character issues. The team had a meeting felt he would be a great addition but carried baggage. COACH felt kendale needed an opportunity to prove those rumors untrue to the new staff so coach extended him the opportunity to be apart of the program under the "PROGRAM GUIDELINES" and not the condition of the player.Kedale came to practice and left and never returned until late august asking to play. I commend the staff for sticking to there policies. Kendale would be a great addition to the team but such is life you have to follow the rules or else so NO HE'S NOT APART OF THE PROGRAM AT BLAIR
Rumor has it that Kendall got into some "LEGAL" trouble at Blair and got expelled...There might me some truth to this... I am not sure about Raheem...Did he graduate??? I know Blair lost many players due to graduation
Rumo has it that the AD at Blair is going to be replaced....LETS ALL HOPE SO! That will only help for next years program though... We still have to worry about this year.
Kendell was a rock, is he gone?
To the Blair fans, where are last year's defensive stalwart Kendell Hollinquest and star Raheem Broadnex? I know Kishon is now at La Salle. Did they transfer or are they still at Blair? Is this all because of the departure of Tip?
My son is also on the team and he practices every day and attends study hall. I have to agree that my son’s grades are much better this year than last year. Coach Parks has contacted my son’s teacher when he did not do to good on a test and that in my opinion is dedication. That alone should shows that that the program is successful because he has always stated that he is building a STUDENT athlete program. It is a hard and bitter pill to see the game schedules all messed up and for our kids not to have a win. There are no excuses for losing, but my son is committed to his team. I just hope that Coach Parks can clean up the mess Blair Admin and the AD, Gamal have made. Playing only eight games is ridiculous and is not fair the football players. I hope it’s not too late or doesn’t take too long to fix this program.
all of the capital letters hurt my eyes...
anonymous: I HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR BUT IN JUNE AND JULY THE COACHES WERE FINDING PLACES TO PRACTICE IT WASN'T UNTIL MID AUGUST WHILE ON DEAD PERIOD THAT COACH PARKS FOUND OUT! THATS NEITHER HERE NO THERE,ITS THE PAST MY SON IS ENCOURAGED THAT THIS TEAM WILL BE COMPETITIVE ON THE FEILD AND IN THE CLASSROOM. HIS GRADES THIS TIME LAST YEAR WAS HORRIBLE BUT COACH PARKS AND HIS STAFF HAVE TURNED THE ATHLETE INTO STUDENTS THUS FAR NO PLAYER ON THE VARSITY IS INELGIBLE.LACK OF PREPARATION TIME HAS BEEN AN ISSUE BUT FOR MY CHILD AND THE OTHER STUDENTS ITS PAYING OFF IN THE CLASSROOM. LACANADA WINS THE FOOTBALL ACADEMIC AWARD AND LOSES 10 GAMES BUT WE CALL THEM WINNERS, BLAIR LOSES 3 BUT IS OVER ACHEVING IN THE CLASSROOM AND WE CALL THEM LOSERS. ITS THE SECOND SEASON AS MY SON SAIDS THIS IS WHERE YOU GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS NOT PRE SEASON. YES MY SON WAS CONCERENED ABOUT THE LACK OF GAMES BUT SUCH IS LIFE ADVERSITY CREATES A MAN OUT OF YOU OR A MOUSE IF NOTHING ELSE MY SON WILL BE FACING MANHOOD HEADED ON.
Viking fan: I kinda can't wish you good luck now that it's league and my alma mater will soon be playing your alma mater, but good luck with two good coaches (Varsity coach Parks and of course JV coach Tip) and two quality people. Hopefully they can overcome the idiotic administration there.
Blair Fan I mean Viking Fan lol
Agreed. And your so right it’s the students that matter.
Well first off, I'm Viking Fan, not Blair Fan, lol. Look, let's just all agree that the whole administration, esp the AD, needs to get behind Coach Parks and give him some support. The only thing that matters is those kids who are on the field everyday practicing.
Blair fan Boccia still brought in the AD, did'nt he? So what facts are wrong?
Blair fan Boccia still brought in the AD, did'nt he? So what facts are wrong?
No, the AD we currently have is the same one we had last season. Make sure you know your facts first.
I hear you Blair fan but this situation was avoidable. The buck stops with Boccia, he went back on his word, he basically fired Tip, he brought in the new AD who brought in the new coach. You continue to apologize for Blair but just think if you had someone in charge that really cared about the student athlete, well you know. Blair fan if you have not figured it out by now, it starts with the administration.
And when I said "set in stone" I meant that Coach was told all the contracts were signed, etc. That's all.
Stang Fan: I'm not apologizing for the athletics. As far as I'm concerned our AD is the reason for the problems we're having. I just don't want anyone thinking that it's because Tip's not coaching varsity, or that Coach Parks or this year's players aren't dedicated.
Blair fan believe me no football schedule for a team such as Blair is set in stone in May. Look at the schedule of Blair and Marshall a couple of years ago they actually played each other and now they play no one in the area. The administration of both schools are afraid and it shows.
Tip being an assistant on the JV team after winning league as the varsity head coach shows a lot about him. This shows he is about helping the kids in the community, and the administration?
After building up and coming programs at Blair and Marshall the administrations along with bad coaching hires have become jokes.
bigfatfan-
what other players from blair went to la salle? the only one that has been talked about is tips grandson. what other schools did these athletes go to? i dont blame them for getting out of the sticky situation
why did Coach Tip bail out after last year? what kind of issues plaqued the program that drove so many of Blairs key players to leave the school for La Salle and elsewhere?
Stang Fan,
Smalley is a Muir Grad. LOL
Viking Fan,
I've to to give it up to you...you are one hell of an apologist for Blair athletics. Be careful though, that can become a full-time gig.
Why wasn't the schedule "set in stone." That is SOMEBODY'S fault. Whether it's the coach, the AD, or the administration. Hell, let's all stop "playing dumb" here:
GAMAL SMALLEY IS AN ABSOULUTE JOKE!!!
In June and July there were teams still looking for games in various weeks. Bell Jeff, Malibu, just to name a couple.
SB is right. The Admin at Blair owes it to their students to do a better job of building and running a program.
SB: By the time Coach Parks found out that the "set in stone" schedule he was given when he was hired in May or June wasn't set in stone, all the local teams already had locked in their schedules and he had to find games wherever he could. That's why we ended up with Brawley and Millenium on our schedules.
Why is Blair scheduling teams hundreds of miles away when there are plenty of teams in the SGV, 626 area code, LA County, and/or the LA Metro area that they could have scheduled games? Why play Brawley as well?
Why doesn't Blair and Marshall schedule games like thay have done in the past? There are planty of schools that Blair could have scheduled that having two games from teams way out of the area.
normally you consider the financial and logistical concerns BEFORE you schedule a game....especially when it is 300 miles away.
The economy did not go bad 24 hrs before kickoff, so Blair gets a win and bye at the same time...they didn't need the bye, some game experience would have been more helpful going into league.
Overall, the whole thing sucks.
I think that everyone is missing the point. The point being that the game wasnt even played. It is a sad day for high school sports. Its a tradgedy that the economic situation that we are in has affected the outcome of a game. Think about the kids from both teams who have worked so hard to represent thier schools, they have had a game taken away from them. I wish both schools luck the rest of the season, and props to the coach from Millenium who was willing to pay for food and gas so his players would have a chance to play a football game.
Is that the only way that Blair can win their games I guess they should have all the school in the Rio Hondo League call Blair and forfeit all the games good job Blair Vikings administration. I f my son was playing at that school I would take him out and play somewhere else they are going to be rebuilding that program for a very long time. Take out your kids dont wait any longer.
its not being rude, its a fact, they won a game, a game that they didn't play, but they won, i dont really find it disrespect full at all, because its a W on their record. its just a headline so ppl could read the story
Anonymous Poster, No, I am not being sarcastic. He really is helping the JV Coach with the JV team. I heard that he does not get along with the principal or the new coach. He has to be there because he loves football and coaching...Oh and becuase he is security at Blair...
sstress:
Is that sarcasm? I am not trying to call you out, but Tip can't still be at Blair... can he?
This is some messed up sh_t. Don’t forget you are writing about kids who read this Blog. This is demeaning to the Viking players who work their ass off every day at practice and play their hearts out. You should take this down!!!!!!!! You should know better. I am disgusted by this blog and you Miguel.
Coach Tip is assistant coach of the JV Team at Blair. But, he is not really 100% committed... He shows up every other day...
I don't mean any harm in asking, but where is Coach Tip Sanders now? Is he coaching somewhere?
Miguel,
I am actually going to have to agree...
The Marshall blog is much more respectful.. more of poor Marshall, but they may have a chance blah blah blah...
Blair's is like HA HA losers...you finally have a win...
I was actually rooting for you and now I'm not so sure...
Your suppose to be neutral
Anyone who knows me, especially Coach Gary Parks, knows that's not my intent. Lets chill a bit.
I think that headline is disrespectful and rude. It's like you're making fun of our kids.
