The bet is on!!!!!

Freddy finally caved in. The initial bet was going to be the loser would wear a USC shirt to work Monday.
But Robledo wanted no part in that. So the new bet is going to be this:
Loser has to wear the other team's hat to work the following week. A Bishop Amat win, I'll wear a Lancers hat.
If St. Francis wins, Robledo will wear a Golden Knights hat. I'll remember to buy a hat at Friday's game for Robledo. So who else is bothered that Robledo forgot his roots? How quickly they forget....
This is the alternative, Robledo said, because in no way, shape or form, will he ever wear anything with USC on it.
I guess I can understand. We're both huge UCLA fans. I'm almost certain if we put on a USC shirt we'd burst on fire.
Well, time to compare stadiums.

VS.

Hands down St. Francis has a stadium that's second to none. The turf allows for great playing conditions even when it rains.
Friedman Field, nestled on Foothill Blvd., looks as if it has an enormous home stands; its backdrop is a tall-standing building of classrooms that provide an eagle eye's view from atop.
I've been a few times to Keifer Stadium in La Puente. The stadium and its campus sits in the middle of a neighborhood. It kind of reminds me of St. John Bosco's stadium but with easier access.
Bishop Amat's press box is tiny unless you climb to the top for an aerial view. The field has grass and though it's neatly manicured, the stadium doesn't compare to Friedman Field.
The winner is St. Francis by a landslide.

How about the loser also has to take Galletti back?
Can anyone tell me how it turned out for older boy Sciarra when they played Amat in '98?
sfhs92 ,
I have had some conversations in the past with John SR, though not about this particular topic. John Sr is still VERY involved in development projects at Amat and has always been very supportive. We don't take that decision personally one bit.
I actually think that, as a father, he made a great decision to allow junior and Justin to "blaze their own trail" so to speak, at a school closer to home. As did Pat Haden when his kids went to San Marino. It'd be tough when your Dad's jersey hands in the Hall of Fame, or the most prestigious athletic award at the school is named for your father (The Pat Haden Award). Big footprints to follow. I'm happy it has worked out for them -although , obviously, we would have loved to have them all.
Many forget (or aren't aware) that John Sciarra Sr was a westside kid to start with. He attended the old Mission HS in San Gabriel and then transferred to Amat when it closed .
Joe Amat,
You are right they don't give points for stadium looks, but better facilities usually means the ability to attract more talented players. Those talented players are the ones that put the points on the board. Just curious though bro what are your thoughts on one of your greats John Sciarra sending his sons to SF to play ball? As you probably know his son John went on to get a scholarship at UCLA, and now Justin is leading the Golden Knights on what so far is a dream season.
I've known Freddy since I was 17. That's eight years of knowing him. Dude loves Pasadena and loved working here on beautiful Lake and Colorado.
It's all good, Joe Amat. Much respect for you my brotha.
Miguel where are you?
They're giving points for stadium looks now? We better push this campus development plan through faster!
Tell you what, have the Golden Knights come over to our place and play basketball - and you can compare gyms too. (the way both teams are playing lately it might be a better idea than you think... someone would have to leave with a win!)
And hey, get to know Freddy a little better. He grew up a couple JR Phillips home runs (ask someone!) away from Amat and went to Edgewood HS down the street. THAT'S where his roots are.
He didn't desert the Westside... he came home.
