Told you guy's I did not like Muir's chance against D-Ranch. I'm out of town, can you guys tell me how it went down.
Miguel, having played both Desert and Brentwood in the East Valley division, I believe that you've made a serious error in advancing Brentwood to the title game. Desert, who you have losing in the first round, is a much better team than Brentwood especially up front and they have skill players that are either equal or better than those for Brentwood. I agree with you that St. Margarets is going to win it all, they are almost a sure lock for that division
There's a big shot that the almont teams wont make it thru first round =o
Hopefully it doesn't happen I want to see the one or 2 of them play muir! just to get things more interesting :D
Mistake in the East Valley Bracket.. How does Maranatha beat Santa Paula in the 2nd round and yet both teams move on to the semis??? Don't you mean Aquinas?
First Round:
Charter Oak over Bell Gardens
CV over Cal
La Serna over San Gabriel
Burroughs over Rowland
Muir over Diamond Ranch
South Hills over Schurr
West Covina over Bonita
Santa Fe over Burbank.
My bad....ineligible.
A. Eligibility is always sorted out before the first playoff game. If no one is inegigible now they're good.
B. Hot Rod, come out and find out.
C. DAMN Miguel! I'm glad to see your faith in our boys. Especially, with your colleagues on the east side picking us to lose tonight. Btw, Burroughs over Rowland...count on it.
LET'S GO STANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miguel...
Re-check your Southeast prognostications. And then get ready to revise them for the second round games.
Go get em Panthers and show em what you got!
NY
Paraclete coming out of that bracket and beating Northview was my vision too, but most disagree. I was thinking Azuza would be the TC opponent, providing we wake up and win tonight.
Good luck to you and all Wildcat fans.
M-town,
El Monte has a bad man at linebacker, I don't know his name. When we scrimmaged El Mo this kid would delay blitz and take turns charging full steam into our center or guards.....sheerly for the contact. It was not about getting into the backfield, more like a manhood ritual and skill check. He is an instinctive player and obviously very, very good at LB. We ran and threw well against their team - though remember only a scrimmage game.
San Marino.
If anything, TC and M-town did you a favor in prepping you for Paraclete. You must return to fundamental football and seal defenders, maintain blocks - and prime your short passing game. Dooley will provide - if you give him a slot to squueze into. Utilize Hung more, he is a slick dude as well. Walk next to Mooney when possible, he knows the way.
Stangs
Defensively, make it difficult and make them uneasy on Lincoln Ave, enough that they trip, scratch their head, lose patience and BOOM...there is your turnover. Don't allow their Offense any comfort or rhythm. Run the reverse on the kickoff and be ready to adjust should your own offense begin to stall. Good luck.
Rams
I am going to go against what I've said all year. We can and should throw on this team...in fact I would come out throwing. Let them remember how we deflated their opening game hopes through the air last time we met. I have unshaken confidence in Morgan Hatch.
That said, I also would utilize the running of Joey Stewart more tonight, let him run hard and punish tacklers as he does. Go up the gut and toss outside, pull all the beef as escort. Prediction:MAX WILL GET OUR FIRST KICKOFF TD OF THE YEAR TONIGHT.
GO RAMS!!!!
It all starts with the front 5.
From an admittedly bias Monrovia alumnus:
MID-VALLEY DIVISION
First round: Monrovia over El Monte; Duarte over L.A. Baptist; Rosemead over Valley Christian; San Dimas over Sierra Vista; Northview over Workman; Paraclete over San Marino; Temple City over Arroyo; Covina over Azusa.
Second round: Monrovia over Duarte; Rosemead over San Dimas; Paraclete over Northview; Temple City over Covina.
Semifinals: Monrovia over Rosemead ; Paraclete over Temple City.
Championship: Monrovia over Paraclete....If this happens Miguel, feel free to give Maddox the COY award. Until then, let's see how the playoffs go.
Also, I think St Francis may pull it off tonight against Quartz Hills. The Catholic school discipline has a way of translating to success in playoffs...call me crazy, but Quartz Hills schedule is not very impressive.
I expect a deep run from Muir. I really think that Schurr may beat South Hills (it would not surprise me anyway).
Miquel,
Good job.
As with any list of games this long, there are many debate points and possibly misses - but overall, this prediction list gets top honors - burn your rookie card!
Good luck to WSGV teams - one and all!
Barely awake and my stomach acids are already signaling it is game day.
Miguel,
I can only comment on the Mid-Valley as those are the teams I have followed all year.
The only pick that jumps out is Rosemead over SanDimas sorry but they don't got the horses for that race, and I can only hope my Wildcats do better than you predict.
Otherwise I think you your'e looking good!
Ohh yeah the ineligible players! I remember that thing it can affect some teams. Anyone know someone not being eligible?
I meant Rowland over Burroughs. That's my bad.
John Muir Football - The King of the One-and-Out.
Regardless of who the other team is, they find a way to give games away come playoff time.
History repeats itself again...?
It will be hard for Rowland to beat San Gabriel in the second round after a loss to Burroughs in the first...
Muir can advance to the finals this year it would be the first since the 89 season. I'm concerned that everyone will not be eligible. Anyone know as that has been the biggest issue in recent years. I'm also concerned about the lack of running game. We need to eat the clock and convert on third and short move the ball on the ground come playoff time. What is the status on Rueben Thomas better to rest him tomorrow especially if they don't need him to win against Diamond Ranch. Its time for the mustangs to step it up a gear focus on execution and fundamentals we can't afford to go out there and beat ourselves more then anything as we typically do in the playoffs.
