Your blog is important; the matter is something that not a lot of people are speaking intelligently about. I'm really happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to it.
I enjoyed reading this post a lot, so much that I wished it was longer. Very engaging writing style!

Hey Miguel sorry about the extra posts, never had that happen before.
Does anyone know the time table the PHS administration is taking to find a coach?

O-cat
One syllable is all I can spell....Rams
Azusa... A to Z in the USA.
What's going on with Backus and TC?
Little League? Real softball never stops! The recruiting season just ended and will start back up in January.
Chkyrcalender:
Little League doesn't start until March. Let's hold off on that thread. I'm sure there will be plenty said then.
Goldenarm:
Don't give Azusa anything more to be Mad about.... Look at how you spelled their name!!! Other than that Fred the Hater Robledo has the Rio Hondo League taking a Vacation after Friday. I'd say we make his Thanks Giving Miserable over on the Eastside. Monrovia has Given Duarte their two Biggest prizes in Jordan Canada and Desean Johnson two of the 2006 Premier Wildcat players. But I hope they have second thoughts about crossing our borders after this Friday Night. If you were'nt a TC Fan I'm sure you would come out and support us as we try and prove Fred and all of the Rio Hondo League Haters wrong. Fire Up TC and lets remind everyone who WE ARE!
NY
That, TC can do.
I just hope the Rams are ready to respond if Azuza crowds the box, which I think they will, after scouting and /or film shows our offense bothered and slowed by defensive tactics LC and Arroyo used with effectiveness. We have the tools to counter those defensive fronts ...we should have them ready and primed. The film snippets I saw had them in a 5-3.
Defensively, I am pretty sure we have not faced a spread offense like I have read Azuza runs. We have faced some good QB's though, and Azuza has a good QB.
Goldenarm,
My answer for neutralizing the 1-2 pass rushers is to RUN right at them...Of course, that is usually my answer for everything.
New York
it sounds like Covina/Azuza was a combination of both things you suggest - it is rare a single players nabs 4 INT's in one game - such as the stud from Azuza was reported as doing.
Looking over the Montview stats on Calpreps, you can see Azuza has the 1 - 2 top spots on the sack chart. Now the reason and scenario for the picks start coming into view.
Nonetheless - this is a team WE CAN BEAT. Already the prognosticators are aligned against us - I can see why and understand.
Hey Miguel how about a pre-preseason softball thread. We are ready!
I'll stick with my name, I have already done a ton of branding.
chkyrslf -
I'm cool - tell Miguel you want the softball thread to give you a place to write. The comment "did Scott warn you" was a carryover from some other comments when he came on board.
I still think "Psoftball Psycho" would be a cool name
I'm so ready for this game. I love monrovia this is like a dream come true for me. i was at the Duarte/LAB game all the monrovia player running there mouths during the game I love it. all these kids know each other this will not be like the el monte game for sure. we should have won that game saturday 38-14 but stupid Penalties and droped punts keep that close. I love the fact that everybody counts us out like we dont have a shot. I've heard 45-0 and all kinds of stuff. Duarte plays at home this means so much more im ready for this game. As far as rest is concered, this is high school they should never get tired. we have a full and healthy team and come friday we will show are FALCON PRIDE!
GO FALCONS!!!
rclancy,
I should also add that Veronica Grant (TC) signed with Syracuse, I also believe Alex Aguirre (TC) is playing at Hawaii, Michelle Escamilla (Alverno) at Mt Sac, Nicole Parada (SP) at Humbolt State, Anneliese Dok (TC) at Santa Clara, Michelle Mun (SP) at Howard University, Curly Grimes (Arcadia) at North Texas.
You may know some of these, but I thought I would add them. Does anyone know where Kaitlyn Ellingsworth (TC) is going?
goteamgo, sorry for the mischaracterization, maybe we can start over again. Whatch say?

Get the facts straight -
1) I never "started a blog a couple of years ago thats lead story was to denigrate softball and female sports in general". Obviously you are confusing me with someone else. I have NOTHING against female sports, and I am supportive of it.
2)Regarding "I ripped him a new one and he has since created an online battle not just with me but with softball in general" - "Ripped me a new one" - HA HA. Also, I have nothing against softball. I just find you and your comments totally obnoxious, disrespectful, and belittling.
3) "He tends to have several names" - No, I have used the same namesince this blog started two or three years ago. Others will vouch for me.
You call it entertaining; I call it obnoxious.
Change your name to "Psoftball Psycho."
chkyrslf - Jessica Ferri from Sacred Heart signed with Harvard - Go Crimson! Also, Amy Vergel De Dios (formerly from Mayfield and winner of the HR Derby in the Public vs. Private game) made it as a walk-on to the Villanova program.
Miguel,
Let me fill in the blanks for you about what "goblahblahblah" is talking about.
As you can see "goblah..." has been waiting since last softball season to talk smack about me to you. That is probably because I tend to be more entertaining than most and he is uncomfortable with that. I am pretty sure he is the guy who started a blog a couple of years ago thats lead story was to denigrate softball and female sports in general. I ripped him a new one and he has since created an online battle not just with me but with softball in general. He tends to have several names.
Outside of that I am a softball and female sports advocate who pays attention. So if your writers pay attention to the female sports we are all good.
I may rip you on some of your coverage, but don't take it personally, it is just entertainment.
So far so good.
chky
Miguel, I was disappointed witht the VERY slim coverage provided by the Star News on the San Marino/Paraclete game. After SM had such a great run this season, to let the last game be reported in the manner that it was, both on-line and in the hard copy newspaper was just not right. Not sure why a local reporter could not have been dispatched to Paraclete to give a better wrap up of that game, and of SM's season.
Miguel -
Did Scott warn you about chkyrslf?
I would not say I am a big cross country fan, but since I can't blog about La Salle football, I would just like to point out that the La Salle Boy's cross country team is going to go to the state meet in Fresno for the first time in 19 years - a significant accomplishment for the program.
Oh, and good luck to those remaining football teams in the playoffs! (Monrovia, TC, Rosemead, RHP, and yes, even Maranatha)
There is usually some softball college signings or commitments for local players at this time of the year. Anybody know of any?
I'm definitely looking forward to Monrovia vs. Duarte. Should be a lot of fun. I need to dust off my letterman's jacket.
Goldenarm,
Azusa may be a team of destiny. They seemed to benefit from a perfect storm of a Covina meltdown (1st QB injured and the 2nd QB ejected)...The question is whether or not Azusa caused Covina to meltdown or if they just benefited from it. Regardless, I always assume that every team in Round 2 is legite.
chkyrslf,
It is always time for Softball. Some pretty good softball this weekend in Burbank with the playoffs of the Gold Division (not 18U travel Gold) of the high school fall league. Burbank had 30 teams enter their fall league this year and when it came time for playoffs they broke the 30 teams up into Gold, Silver and Bronze playoff divisions. I couldn't stay for final games, but once I get results I will post them.
Volleyball Fans,
The match-ups are out. Mayfield (25 - 5 - 1 ) plays Tehachapi (20 - 4) on Tuesday and La Canada (28 - 6) plays Hanford (15 - 2). Looks like both Mayfield and LC are at home.
Bob Anon - I don't think they can meet in State as Mayfield is Div III-A and LC is Div II-A.
Just to clear a couple things, most "experts" penciled in San Dimas to come out on top of the Mid-Valley group, not The Mead, Northview, Paraclete or the Wildcats. Paraclete has rarely been mentioned in fact, although they return a whopping 9 offensive starters and still incredibly, are known as a defensive team.
Bloggers may overlook teams but no coach who owns a jock would overlook either San Dimas, Northview, Duarte or Azuza. Our area teams (Mead, Wilcats and Rams)each have a war on hand Friday with opponents capable of beating them.
The Rams play Azuza, who dominated Duarte mid-season.
Azuza comes off a defense-fuled win over a strong Covina team. TC must generate points to beat this team, a single TD will not be enough.
Duarte is far better than their 5-5 record indicates and the "it is tough to beat the same team twice" adage is TRUE. Maddox and M-town know this and will beat 100% ready in my opinion.
The Mead has taken low blows all year. Rosemead should have been seeded and in my opinion - is the most powerful team in the either bracket
I should have written saddest,as in the saddest coverage of local high school football in your online information.Thank You for your time
you have the sorriest coverage of local high school football you have ever had, your online information is usually late, and never quite complete.

I would like to know if anybody from John Muir football team made first or second team for the Pacific League and if they did when are they going to announce it. Also when are you going to announce the StarNews player of the year awards.
hey miguel how about some cross country? I haven't seen any on this blog and am quite disappointed. Did you know Sam Pons of South Pasadena High School finished third at the CIF Finals in Division Three and will be running at the California State Cross Country meet? Did you also know that is only a soph. and he will be a monster in track this year as well as the next two years in cross country?
Football is great and all... but isn't it time for softball yet?
BigM,
We should never overlook anybody, especially a team with those two monster linemen that were recently featured who get to block for a couple Canadas. That said, losing to Duarte would be VERY disappointing to many of us who have grown accustom to regularly beating the Falcons. We also have a big advantage on Duarte because they had to play a Saturday game. That extra day of scouting, rest and preparation is HUGE.
Also, I think a lot of people are making a mistake by overlooking Paraclete in the other bracket. That is a program that expects to win CIF titles playing in a division filled with teams that have not won a title in a very long time.
Miguel/Fred, who in the Midvalley has won the most recent CIF Football title in any division?
I grew up on CIF-SS Division leagues & playoffs. Its weird trying to get used to seeing so many small and large schools have to play each other. When I see the playoff brackets I see mismatches in size and depth, which is huge especially so late in the year. This year, left with no local football teams in the west SGV area that I care for, I'm stuck making the long trip to the OC and other places to follow the PAC-5 & other Major football programs in the SS. Good Luck to those still playing. My advice- win big and don't let the refs decide games for you. I still have nightmares from that tuck rule game years ago...
The Cats can't afford to look past Duarte...and neither should we. It's very difficult to beat a team twice in the same year. A couple of examples:
- 2006 Monrovia v La Salle. After beating the Lancers handily in their fifth game, the Cats lost to La Salle in the 2nd round.
- 2008 Temple City v Arroyo. TC blew out Arroyo early in the season ...and barely escaped Friday by 1 pt.
I know that this game is BIG...the players, coaches and fans all have been wanting this rivalry game to replay in the playoffs. Now, with the game actually on the docket, let's not get ahead of ourselves by looking into the bracket. The Cats will need their complete focus and resolve to beat Duarte on Friday.
Likewise, Rosemead fans should probably worry about San Dimas...if you don't know this already, they're pretty good!
Good luck, Panthers...
I don't think Monrovia was ever favored to win it all. It's always been between Rosemead and Northview. As much as I'd like Monrovia to win it all, it's definitely a tough road ahead. Good luck Cats.

If you think D-Ranch couldn't wait to see Muir. Boy Duarte was probably praying to get a rematch with its' border rival. Not to take anything away from Sumler he's a stud but to see a healthy Jordan Canada against Williams has to make this the game of the year based on the obvious. I know the Cats are favored to win it all but this is going to be their most difficult task of the season. These kids and coaches know each other very well and Crutch will have these boys ready. The incentives to win are overwhelming. Canada and a few others didn't feel they made a good showing of themselves because of injuries and a few other factors, and like m-town they're a different team. My advice get the Tylenol ready it's on!
Thank you rclancy.... could LC and Mayfield meet in State? or are they in different divisions.
Good look to your Mayfield, and also to LC!
Rosemead will roll Monrovia once again! Believe me these kids are for real and they barely started blossom. People seem to forget Rosemead has one of the best quarterbacks around and kickers as well.

Mayfield sports had a great day yesterday. The volleyball team crushed Santa Monica and the Cross Country team came in second in the CIF finals and advanced to the State meet.
The volleyball team just keeps getting better and better.
If would be great to see Mayfield play La Canada. Congratulations to the Spartans on a fantastic year.
Hey now Monrovia v. Duarte shouldn't be No sweat! The game I want to see is Rosemead / Monrovia! To see R Williams and T Sumler battle for the field is the show of the year! My money is on Williams. Because we still havent seen him at his full potential yet! just wait and see!!!
